I have used the search feature on this forum with no results for WM6 for my Motorola Q. It says "Radio Version Q2-BP_C_06.0C.05P,Q2 Portable" if that helps anyone any. It's running Windows Mobile 5.0 (OS 5.1.195 Build 14960.2.4.0) and I just wanted to know if there was an upgrade I could get ahold of. If so, could someone link me to it or link me to the forum thread? The search for "Motorola Q" kept giving me an error stating that (Q) didn't serve as a high enough peremeter and I kind of figured it wasn't seeing Motorola for some reason (only God knows why).
I'd think it would be possible as the Q9m from Verizon is more or less the same phone as the Q in a new case with WM6.
Yeah the possability is there. I just wonder, does anyone have a link to an upgrade? Because I know that T-Mobile users even got to download the OS as an upgrade for their phones (from what I heard).
There's no upgrade official ROM for Motorola Q CDMA and it always keep stay in WM5.......

I currently have a PDA2K BlueAngel, I know that there is no official upgrade to WM5.0 and that some are working on hacking one but it probably won't be for a while.
What I wanted to know is which devices do have an upgrade to WM5.0 as personnaly I don't like the HTC Universal and don't want to spend another $900.00 for a new model, I just want the upgrade.[/b]
There's an upgrade in this forum for the Himalaya. The last time I checked, it was in ver. 1.60 a (I think). Hopefully this helps
Do you know if it will work on the Andes? From what I understand its the same device just a better camera.
it's not the same device with a better cam it have a different cpu and wifi if i recall correct
no rom have been transported from one device to another that i know of
So can anyone tell me which devices that are currently available have WM5.0 tried and tested on them.
Like what the sale name is?
i.e. O2 XDA ??, PDA??
of the htc family only the himalayas and at that it's
not the final 2005 but a beta version
it's not more likely to get the final version then the rest of the
htc devices i guess
himalaya are xda2 mda2 qtek2020 and the other names you can see under their forum
Hi Fellas,
Im new to using a Windows mobile & also i am new to this place. I have seen a few posts about people having a moto q with a WM 6.1 installed.

In case there is a way out please let me know .
Thank You.

I agree. Can anyone point to a useable ROM for the CDMA version? Even if there are instructions on how to cook your own, I'm game.
All the best,
James

Really like the phone but it sucks ass with WM5
I've read a tutorial on upgrading a HTC Touch with WM6.5 so I'm sure it can be done.
I'm looking for the most stable version as I want to use it as my daily OS
The device is used for - web browsing - watching/streaming media content and sending emails/text.
Nothing else.
Oh and I want to keep the phone on T-Mobile - Just want to upgrade the ROM.
Which one do I need? And any software needed to complete the upgrade?
welcome to the forum
yes you can do this.
go down and read the Athena forum and the wiki. Take your time and make absolutely sure you know what you are doing

Hello,
I have HTC Touch pro that i got from my sister in Australia (3). The phone has:
os 5.2.21916
I am using this in Canada on Fido.
Now the question I have is:
- Is there any official upgrade i can do to this phone? WM 6, 6.1, 6.5??
- As you see I am using a Australian phone in Canada.. I dont really need data. I do use WiFi.. What would be a good ROM for the following criteria:
- FAST
- Bug Free
- Do not care as much for a lot of apps except MS office
- Will be installing Garmin XT
I am a total noob to this whole ROM thingi.. Please help...
no 6.5 official roms exist, official 6.1 and below exist. you can install garmin on any version. NATF (not a treo fan) used to make v. good roms, some versions include stripped down roms for max performance.
some people complain that the sense interface slows down that phone, so check and if you don't like it, you can disable it.
double post, plz delete.
Thanks for the reply..
So I guess the next question is how do I get the official 6.1 ROM (not a cooked one) for this phone.
I checked the HTC site but they don't have anything that I can find....I tried the HTC australia site and the last release is:2008-12-04
From the HTC www site I see there is: 2009-08-30
htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=140&act=sd&cat=2
Can someone confirm that i can put this on my phone which has OS5.1 currently?
Sorry for spammin.. but I guess my confusion is from the fact that..
After I installed the ENERGY 6.5 ROM, the Settings>about tells me that OS is 6.5
but when i do settings>Phone info>SW info: It says Os version is: 5.2.21916
So I guess the question is how do I updated my phone's base OS to 6.1
You should do a little more research before posting
I'm not trying to be rude, but you're going to run people down really quick with this line of questioning. Most of the answers to your questions could be answered by just reading more threads, maybe even a little wikipedia. I'll give you one hint: your phone does not have (nor did it ever have) Windows Mobile 5, and there is no such thing as WinMo 5.1 or 5.2. Unless your sister installed a new ROM, you've got Windows Mobile 6.1.
Now, go back and do some more research and decide for yourself: what ROM do you want to install? Is there a reason you don't want a cooked ROM? (is it because you believe that the "official" ROMs somehow are better?)
Good luck!
You can test what rom you like by flashing different ones rather than ask "what rom is the best?" I have no idea what your tastes are. It doesn't hurt to flash different roms as long as you back up your data
In my opinion, the custom roms blow away official roms in terms of performance and cosmetics. (All my opinion, you choose for yourself)
Hi,
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I have looked in as many threads on here as I can find and none seem to answer my question.
I'm looking for a 2.x rom for a Garmin-Asus A10. I'm from New Zealand and the carrier branded handsets here are stuck on Android 1.6. I have a few colleagues who are having issues with this handset using exchange, and according to some research, 1.6 is a bit crap at handling exchange.
What I am hoping to do is flash a 2.x rom to one of our demo handsets and do a side by side comparison of the handset running 1.6 and 2.x. However I am unable to find a rom to do this with...is there anyone out there who is able to provide any kind of 2.x rom for it at all?
I'm not just looking for a quick fix for someone to do this for me, I'm interested in getting in to rom development but cooking roms is a bit over my head at the moment.
Any help would be awesome, and again, sorry if this is a noob question, I just can't seem to find this information anywhere.
Cheers
open market firmware update garmin asusu A10 eclair
Dear A10'ers,
The Danish site of garmin-asus left the front door open to get 3 firmware updates through their site.
One of them is the open market "softwareopdateringer". Click on the link and cancel 4 times and you'll get the install software, by unpacking it you can see that they use XML code to download the update file from the garmin site.
I hope that this information gives a true hacker the opportunity to make it possible to use the open market version for a branded telephone to be updated to 2.1.
Greetings and good luck to you all,
asdfghjklµ
Is this the only way to get a 2.1 rom? I figured all that would need to be done would be to extract the 2.1 rom (I know, probably not quite that easy) from an existing A10 running 2.1...
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
Edit: I just realised by "open market" you are probably referring to a rom without carrier branding. Do all A10s running 2.1 have carrier branding or have I completely missed the point here?
I was searching for this as well and it looks like they have updated it on there site but you have to do a bit of digging to find it. Its a Telecom rom as well so its official. I cant post urls as I am new here but got to garminasus dot com. then click the location on the top right making sure its set to NZ. Its then under support - software updates. Instructions there as well. Nice christmas present
Oh that must have been very recent, I have checked up on that regularly and it hasn't been there. I'll have to have another look, thanks for the heads up.
Almost the whole reason I haven't switched from WinMo yet is because of garmin mobile xt. I procured it in 2008 but they don't sell or update it anymore but the new maps still work albeit the .exe is 2.5 years old.
I asked a couple times about this and never got a competent response, but if that garmin android software that I can't buy because Garmin and Asus are retarded could be ripped from a ROM dump I'd commission it. Asus makes my mobos but HTC makes my phones. Also, in rural areas of the United States Navteq maps get me lost less than TeleAtlas does. And I like garmin's trip configurator, GUI, and routing engine. In before "use GMM...", usually when I need GPS I'm in an EDGE area or no service whatsoever, so it's nice to be able to navigate without worrying about AT$T's crappy network not existing properly.
Rooted Garmin Asus A10 Need ROM
Hi.
Got a few questions to a man with a bigger brain than my self.
First of:
Just got my Garmin Asus A10 rooted with SuperOneClick - Great tool btw.
I've installed setCPU, set the min+high freqz to 600mhz - hoping on a better benchmark with Quadrant but the result where actually lower then before the root and freq settings.
Second of:
What am i doing wrong?
Do i need a ROM? - If Yes, then what ROM should i use?
Third of:
What about my Kernel, do i need a stronger heart to my 2.1 Eclaire.
Hope to hear from someone.
System information:
Rooted Danish Garmin Asus A10 with a contract @Telenor - Denmark.
Firmwareversion: 2.1-update1
Kernelversion: 2.6.29 [email protected] #28
Buildversion: A10-V5.0.69-user-20101022
If you're wanting a higher clock speed you will need to flash a custom kernel. I'm not sure if there are many developers on here who have made kernels for this phone, but as far as I'm aware, that's the only way to overclock.
A custom rom may help with the quadrant benchmark score, but I have been unable to find any custom roms for this device. I don't know if I just have been looking in the wrong places or if rom developers just aren't interested.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I just updated one to the official 2.1 Telecom XT build today, definite improvement all round. Prior to about 2 days ago they were all stuck on 1.6, which inspired my quest to find custom roms for it lol.

sMy Sentiments exactly! I bought my first winmo phone in 2008 and have been stuck with them purely because of the GMXT software that it can run. However, android OS has proven itself as a stable mobile system now, i would like to migrate to a green man platform, but am stuck with my Acer S-200 running GMXT on a modded rom. Can anyone extract the Android installer (CAB/APK) file out of the GarminAsus A10 rom, and post it? this would help us Garmin Mobile XT aficionados make the final plunge into the Android Phone Market.

I agree. I have Garmin XT on my HTC. I was loving the idea with the Garminfone here, but couldn't afford the $899 price tag it came with retail. waiting for a bit for the prices to come down on TradeMe...
