hi just a (hopefully) simple question.
I have the o2 orbit 2 with pre installed copilot and a supplied 1gb memory card. this is working well but I want to get a larger memory card for various reasons. can I then get the copilot maps onto a new card. and what's the best way to do this?
thanks for any help,
jeff

i have exactly the same question too! is it a matter of copying everything over from the 1 gb to the new memory card? i await for the answers...
Orbit II memory
When you purchase your 4GB/8GB card make sure it comes with a Standard SD adapter, you can then use any card reader to transfer the data from the included 1GB card to your PC and then transfer it back to your new larger one...
I got my 8GB from www.zoodex.com who seemed to be reasonably priced...
Hope this helps...
I just copied the files from the smaller microSD to the 8 GB one that I am using...but I believe that all you have to do is install CoPilot on your device from the supplied microSD card and then install CoPilot Central on your desktop, and add the maps you need onto your new micro SD card from CoPilot Central. The last way will save you some space.
thanks for the answers guys. seems like it should be be straight forward. I'll have to give it a go.
cheers,
jeff

Has anyone tried using an 8gb sd card under WM6?
I have WM6 on my XDA Exec, but don't want to buy an 8GB card if it's not going to work.
If it's HDSD it won't work (from my understanding), if its SD it might work... but i've never heard of any regular SD card that is bigger then 4GB.
you can use it as a storage. it is be able to install programs on!

Hi!
I think the bigger memory will be apear very soon. So that is very good for memory limit of PPC. But can it work???? Not sure.
>4gb wont work with universal, and indeed some 2gb and 4gb ones too.
the universal has only a SD card reader, not SDHC. SDHC capabilities would need new hardware or at the very least new firmware so its not gonna happen, sorry
ocz sd card 4gb

A new firmware to make the Universal's SD Card Slot SDHC compliant is not possible. Only a new hardware component will work.
The OFFICIAL maximum storage capacity supported on the Universal SD Card Slot is 6GB. Obviously such an SD card does not exist and hence the practical maximum limitation is 4GB.
Hi all,
what is the biggest SD-Card size you have successfully used with the Prophet?
My girlfriend is thinking of buying a 4GB card for her music collection...
And I just saw the first 8GB SD-Cards are available.
thanks

I have a 4GB Transcend (150x Speed) in my XDA Neo.
It does work fine! Just keep in mind to format it with your Desktop PC - otherwise you can't access it from the Desktop PC later (e.q. to store MP3 etc.)

Up now 4go is the max, but you have to buy a SD card, NOT A SDHC !

So I need a good (cheap) card reader that can read 8GB Micro SD cards in Windows Vista Home Premium?
Is there some sort of Windows Update or something that I need to install for Windows to recognize the card?
I can recognize my 1 gig cards just fine, but Windows can't see the 4 gig cards (probably due to the card reader or something) and I am planning on getting an 8 gig card soon...
I have the adapters to convert them to regular SD (but the adapters came with my 1 gig cards- could that be a problem?)
My notebook reads all my card, and I'm using Vista Home Premium. You could always use your device as the reader !

As he said.
Also, you can buy a cheap reader off eBay and if you need a MicroSD to SD adapter. There's also the MicroSD readers that fit your keychain and read it all.
I got mine for 3 bucks shipped. Just make sure it's SDHC compatible.
And yes, Vista will read them no matter how big they are.
I installed Card Export on my Tilt and Vista can't see it as a flash drive either (even with the 1 gig card). How are you guys using the device as the card reader? I have an AT&T Tilt (HTC Kaiser) running the Hyperdragon III Aug 4 Full WM6.1 ROM...
I'll have to look for a card reader that is SDHC compatible. That has to be the problem. I just did some online searches and found some posts on various message boards with others using the same card reader that I have (Sandisk SDDR-103) and it was confirmed that it is not SDHC compatible.
the problem is none of these things say they are or aren't SDHC compatible on the package. You pretty much have to buy it online (or do your research in advance) to get one that is SDHC. So I will probably have to buy online and wait for shipping...
I haven't really tried it yet, but WM5torage is a popular app.

It doesn't work with WM6.1 though, does it? I used to use it on my old PPC 6700 running WM5, but I was under the impression that it didn't work with WM6.1...
Yeah it will work, I have cooked it in my 6.1 ROM.
Morning all,
I currently use 1GB Sandisk SD card for my XDA II Himalaya. As TomTom size is increasing day by day, I was looking for an 8GB SD card however when I searched online, it said SD over 2GB are now SDHC (SD High Capacity cards) and the devices need to be compatible to be able to run it.
My question is, Does Hima XDA II supports SDHC cards? (I am using Ather 6.14 ROM Mobile version 6).
Could someone please help on this matter before I make a buy?
Here is the link to the Hima I have :[http://www.gsmarena.com/o2_xda_ii-697.php]
Here is the link to the SDHC I am looking at : [http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/4949650/SanDisk-8GB-SD-HC-Card/Product.html]
Many thanks

Hi,
Himalaya does not support SDHC, only SD.
However, I have several 4gb non sdhc memory cards working perfectly.
If your search well you will certainly find them.
Three suggestions:
1 - Try before your buy. There have been mixed experiences with different brands (and sometimes even with the same brand...)
2 - If possible, go for the ones with highest speed (even if some say there is no difference...)
3 - Format the sd card in the device...
Regards,
P
Thanks Pdc4, I really appereciate your help in this.
I am looking at Sandisk ones, they are quite good and faster then other brands.
Will check out and find out if I can find one which is only SD.
Many thanks
Kind Regards

Good day all! I have a HTC Wizard and I cannot get it to read a Lexar 4GB Micro SDHC card. Please help! anything would be appreciated...

SDHC appears to not be possible with your device - Hardware limitations - I suggest you read through the entire threads to make sure. A good place to start anyway
If i'm not mistaken you can get a MiniSD card with 4GB which isnt HC...
Unfortunately the Wizard only supports miniSD which maxes out at 2 GB.

No there are four gig miniSD Cards available. Just not that common or easily found. I found one and use it for my portable gps
SDHC cards are only functional in a handful of devices (mostly new technology after the Kaiser was released). People have been looking into it for a while with no luck. I have not seen a non SDHC micro SD card yet. Take a look in eBay, you might be able to find some in there. Good Luck!
1.i have a microSD card which isn't SDHC.
2.he doesn't need microSD ... he needs MiniSD...
and the four gig mini sd cards are not sdhc. Just not that easy to find
