My Mobiler - removing sys tray icon - General Topics

Just found this great little app which allows you to control your phone from your desktop PC.
http://www.mtux.com/
Only thing I'm looking to find out is when it's running, how to not have a system tray icon on the mobile phone.
Anyone know how to do this?

Right click the "PC" Tray Icon - Configure Mobile - Show Trayicon
Now sometimes you need to do this a couple times to make it disappear.

Perfect....many thanks Neiltoe - can't believe I missed it....cheers

Remove ActiveSync Icon when connected...

Hello all,
Ok, I've searched and found plenty of great information on these forums. You guys and girls rock!
My question is about removing icons from the tray - I have removed the battery, wireless / comm manager icon, but have found that ActiveSync pops an icon down in the tray for me whenever in cradle and I'd like to remove that.
Ultimately, I'd like to disable any icon appearing down there.
Thoughts?
TIA!
It's not working actually...
The tray is removed for sure, but AS keeps putting its icon there somehow when started...
I believe it is present on WM6 only... Anyone come up with an idea how to get rid of this, please?

How to show tray icons

On my 8525 the tray icons (battery, comm mgr) were displayed by default (with the horz line above), on my Tilt, they're gone, except when connected through activesync. Anyone knows the reg key to get the tray to show up again by default? (couldn't find it anywhere)
Under the System --> Today option on the "Items" tab you should see the HTCHomeplug ... check it and you should have the icons you're looking for I believe.
This is assuming you're running the AT&T ROM. If you're running the HTC ROM I can't recall if it is installed by default, if not you'll have to find the cab for the Homeplug and install it.
Cheers,
Dave
yes, but this is today plugin and it do not supply tray icons.
i am looking for activation tray icons too, but looks like not working?
Yeah the windows directory is missing the powertray.exe file!!! So to get the power icon in the tray you need unzip the attached file and place it in the \windows folder. If you create a shortcut to this file in\windows\startup, the battery icon will load on startup in the bottomtray.
hey, man, thx! you are my hero
is the process of activating rotate icon and comm manager the same?

I would assume so... have you looked at the registry? I know from my Hermes to show the comm manager it´s like this..
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000001
But...If you have no joy then let me know I´ll have a look when I´ve finished lunch.
ee, comm mgr reg tweak not working
btw: enjoy your lunch!
Does any one know if there is a way to show a headset icon in the tray so you can tell if your headset is actively connected? I know I can hit the phone key to see if it's connected but it would be nice to be able to see it on the Today page. Thanks.
What I did is to set the Comm Manager to one of the soft key buttons, with the Configuration Tool. Now I have PocketCM in one, and "Wireless" (Comm. Mngr) in the other one.
I am also looking for how to get the battery and commanager back to the status bar on the bottom
I started a new thread there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336239 as this is more suited as a general Kaiser question. I also researched it a bit more. the powetray.exe provided here seems an old version from WM5 most likely. I am looking for the new WM6 style tray I used to have on my hermes which gives you both new battery look and comm mgr icons.
This will add the icons back plus allow you to add shortcuts to other apps
Can anyone may be help me with HIDING those icons? =) I currently have Card Export installed and running, and it adds its own icon to the tray, but I have no need in that. The problem is, that when I turn tray client off (in card export settings), it switches back to ActiveSync mode and I have manually to start CE to mount my flash card as windows removable drive. Any solution?
(I could not make latest WM5torage work for me)
UPDATED:
Argh, resolved myself =) I just mount the card in CE and quit it. It will release the card till I insert the cable. If I pull it out - card is automatically released. Sweet. =)

Bottom tray icons appear and disappear!?

Ok, Ive done tons of searching, and unable to find the answer to this.
I occasionally have a few icons (lock, restart wm6, and BT) in my bottom system tray. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not.
Does anyone know how to make them stay there?!?
Or at least, what am I doing to make them disappear or appear?
I currently have the screen rotation icon, the comm manager icon, and the battery icon... which do not disappear at any time.
I thank you for any comments, suggestions in advanced!

System Tray... ?!

Is there any way I can force my system tray closed in wm6? I installed Wireless Sync and the tray icon is driving me crazy. I like wireless sync but I just don't like that it installs an icon in my system tray! Any ideas?
are there any programs that can close the system tray?
The System Tray automatically appears as soon as any program puts an icon in there.
You will have to look at Wireless Sync to see if you can turn the icon off or contact the developer to include this option in future releases.
Or you can use the Sys Tray as a quick launch bar like I do.
Cheers
Mark
I like the idea of using the Sys Tray as a quick launch. Do you know how I can do that but use larger icons? I'd like to use it as a quick launch but not have to use the stylus and larger icons would be needed. Any ideas?
I use PHM TrayLaunch. But I don't think you can increase the size of the Sys Tray hight though. You will have to use some third party software that is a today screen pluggin to have larger icons. But then you will still be left with a Sys Tray taking up space.
dcinobar...
Dcinobar gets rid of the softkey bar not the sys tray bar. At least I don't know how to get dcinobar to get rid of the sys tray if it can.
I would really like to know if there is a way to get rid of the sys tray also. I don't want to use it as a quick launch bar as I already use the HTC home plugin and ultimate launcher for that and I like those better.
If anyone knows how to get rid of the sys tray I would be very appreciative for that information. Thanks.
Edit: I've checked Wireless Sync for an option to get rid of the icon it puts in the sys tray but did not find anything.

[Q] Live Toggle Tiles

The ability to toggle things on and off from the home screen have always been important to me. This is something I feel is major that WP7 doesn't have. I am looking for the ability to have a toggle switch to turn Wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, and other similar things on and off from the home screen. In searching the closest thing I could find is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7238403&highlight=toggle+switch#post7238403
If anyone knows about development of toggle switches or know if they are coming in the update that would be great. Thanks in advance.
Try attached file this contain toogle for.
airplane mode
wifi settings
bluetooth
data connection
location
Are these supposed to be toggle switches for the home screen or just open then settings for each individual application? For me this is taking it from three steps to turn Wifi on and off of only two steps. Thank you for the reply, and I absolutely love your registry thread, but I don't think this is what I am looking for. Please let me know if I am wrong.

I would like to see them in metro style. Simple white icons without the 3d effect.

No problem. You can do it yourself.
1. Rename the .xap file to .zip
2. Unzip the file
3. Open the unzipped folder
4. Replace the application and background icons with the icons of your choice (same size)
5. Zip all files again
6. Rename the new .zip file to .xap
7. Deploy
Personally I use Dinik Anastasia icons because on OMNIA 7 they look much better than the metro icons...
here are some to http://forum.touchxperience.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=591
edit: XBmod posted the same .
Not Switches
Once you go to settings and set each of these application you do not need a button on the home screen to get back to each individual setting. This is a waist of space for a home screen that is supposed to be clean. The switch would just turn it on and off from the home screen. I am not looking for a shortcut (and I know what one is), I am hoping to find someone working one toggle switches for the home screen.
What it would need to be is a program that runs a live tile. When the particular tile is clicked on the home screen it would have the program switch that particular connection on or off.
The look of the tile doesn't matter unless it is a useful tile.

better than this you don't get for the moment
I figured this when I searched and searched and couldn't find anything. I am hoping to spur somebody into working one this, or finding someone that already is. I was also hoping to find out if Microsoft was thinking about this.
What I would love is a one tap shortcut to 1 page with all the toggles. So instead of me going to setting- wifi - on I could go settings -on , this would apply for bluetooth, location, brightness, etc.
I swore I saw this app posted somewhere but so far all i could find are the individual app shortcuts.
PS If you're like me and actually use voice control all the time, I actually installed the wifi and location shortcuts but didn't pin them to the home screen I simple hold down the start button and say "Open Wifi" works like a charm!
I'm also waiting for a toggle feature. In fact its the only reason I haven't purchased a WP7 device yet.
As soon as there's an easy way to toggle data on/off I'm buying the HD7.
take a look .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934727
The OP said 3 or 4 times that he doesn't want to have that, lucmar! And if you would read the first page you would see exactly that! He wants to have a toggle to switch it on/off! Is reading a post that hard?
Personally the live toggle tiles are a waste of space. My idea is to have the toggles in the menu bar that pops up when you press the volume buttons.
So you press the volume buttons, the menu pops up, you swipe left or right (same you get rid of notifications) and it brings up another part of the menu bar with access to all the common toggles.
The main advanage of this is that you can access the toggles from anywhere as the volume bar is OS wide so you don't have to quit your app/game to access the toggles unlike if you have live tiles.
This is a great idea and would be nice as an overall experience. This would take a lot of programming, and at the rate Microsoft is coming out with updates, this would not be done for another 2 or 3 years. That is why I can asking for a very simple program that turns on and off settings and has a toggle switch when pinned to the home screen. This would only take a day or two by an experience programmer. Anyone?

Well I don't know if MS reads this forum or if anyone at xda is even working on this.
That's actually a great idea. To swipe the volume bar to get comm manager toggles. Clean and simple
