the tomtom is abit outdated..
and i want it to work with pocketgps POI for speed cameras
What I can tell you is that route66 mobile 7 works perfect but when you quit it you have to reboot the phone because it messes up quite good.
does this work with what you need?

I don't have this problem.
Is there a cab for this? I found the ones for S60 on N75, but I'm not sure if those will work.
I just bought the HTC S730 today
Where is the s730 forum here?
I have tried like a crazy person to get the 'built-in' gps to work, but i cant even find one satellite :-( Perhaps they have disabled it in the Rom...
Cant wait to hear from other users who have bought the final version of this phone and if they can get the gps to work..
Could you upload your HTC Home screen? I think a lot of users (including me ) are waiting here for this. Would you be so kind please?

As soon as I have time we will research it. If the hardware is really built in we will get it going some time (it *will* take time tho)
Got my S730 a few days ago. Loving it so far, except...
Couldn't find any satellites with Google Maps so the GPS does indeed appear to be disabled in the final ROM. I hope someone finds a "fix" for this soon. ;-)
Also, I can't get BlackBerry Connect 4.0.0.76 or 4.0.0.84 to connect RIM. My subscription is enabled (works fine on my BB Pearl) but I can't get a PIN on the S730. If anyone has managed to get this working, I'd love some help.
Cheers

I would be happy to. But i have no idea how to extract it from the phone?
Go to Application Data and the best is you copy the whole Home-Folder and upload it.
Here you go
Hope you can use it...
Can someone btw tell me how i can get more appointments to show in the HTC Home Screen?
Thank you very much! But not working on Vox, there are some missing files in system and plugin support.. I think the clsid is different from the Vox's one and it will be more difficult to make it work.. It only shows appointments I will do some researches
And your question - I tried to find it inside of xml, but not there.. HTC made a configurator to modify HTC home on PPC, so maybe for smartphones it also will appear.. I guess
GPS seems to be in HTC S730
I got my S730 today. Have tried with Efficasoft GPS Utilities for Smartphone v2.0 and Chartcross GPS Test Version 1.04. Both programs finds 0-1 satelliets, not enough for positioning, but there seems to be a GPS. But whay can't it identify enough of satellites?

Off course, if someone explains how to do it i will be happy to do it.
*If* the hardware is indeed enabled, you might want to extract drivers from a Kaiser rom. Whether the hardware is indeed present and enabled is hard to determine from the unclear statements in this thread...

Please explain how we can verify if the GPS hardware is present and enabled? I tested with Google Maps and adamwasta used a number of other tools, so what can we do to make it less unclear for you? Thanks.
HTC TYTN II ----or----- HTC s730
Can someone please help me decide between the HTC Tytn II OR the HTC S730? I am a heavy texter, sometimes check email, and want a fast phone. I'm worried that the HTC s730's keyboard is not comfortable -- can someone that uses it give me a heads up on how comfortable/good it is? Is the WM Smartphone's UI annoying? - i've been using pocket pc for a long time & I just want to know if its difficult to switch to a standard smartphone like the HTC s730? Thanks in advance for your feedback & comments - they are all much appreciated
Hmmm i havent tried yhe Tytn so i cant compare the two phones. But i had a Touch before i bought my S730 and i must that it was a step in the right direction text-typing-wise... The s730 is not as good to type on as an Nokia Communicator (imo the best phone for typing), but it's pretty good. And its great to have two options for typing : numeric with T9 and the qwerty inside...
About the smartphone ui....Grrrrrr it is a little bit annoying.. I hate that the settings are so locked. You have far few options in the settings compared to the PPC interface. But then on the other hand there are some features that works better on the smartphone than on the PDA.
All in all i am a very happy little piggy with my S730. I would not trade it for any other phone on the market.

I am also pretty happy with the S730... i used to have a vox and a wizard i must say I keep going to press the screen on the s730 because i was used to ppc but im sure it wont take long for me to get used to it..
one thing battery for me at least seems to be an issue.. fully charged at 7am this morning I had 1 bar left by 11am... Martin is your battery life the same?
the keyboard on the s730 is excellent very good i am already beginning to become a gun on it.. as for the kaiser my friend has one they are way too big for me i guess you need to ask yourself do you want a phone with pda features or a pda with phone features?
Brisbane_guy : I have not expirenced such lousy battery time as you describe. My battery last for about 2 days and i dont turn it off at night. So about 48 hours. But i have disabled BT and WIFI most of the time...
Many thanks Martin & Brisbane for your feedback I'm going to buy the s730 based on your positive feedback

You really should consider the Asus P750. It's only 130g, has 3g, gps (sirf3), wlan, bt2.0, touchscreen, WM6 Prof, 520MHz ARM, 256MB flash and 64MB ram.
On Modaco someone called it the kaiser killer.

Hi Jocky thanks for the info - however I'm a qwerty keyboard lover and absolutely cannot live without one --- any ideas on a small phone with a qwerty keyboard that has strong specs, please let me know many thanks
I took something good from my O2 XDA Flame.
It comes from wm5 device and works fine in my kaiser and Cruise. After the installation do a soft reset.

Are you kidding? This few simple dialogues are no problem even
for completely non english speaking persons by just playing around
with the few sliders and settings. Anyway, maybe it could be able to
customize with any resource editor. Give it a try...

Maybe i must try to cook something.

It looks beautiful, nice job, continue developing for Polaris please Hoping to see releases from you soon, thanks
Just to let you know this did not work on my polaris.
I have an Orbit 2 that i haven't had time to upgraded the ROM on so its the stock o2 windows mobile 6.1 with 1.59.44.02 radio that i have upgraded.
When i installed the cab, did a soft reset and attempt to enable it said that there was an error and it couldn't load the driver. After that i had no sound whatsoever. When i uninstalled this my sound returned.
Has anyone any ideas what the problem is?
thanks

the same for me!!! some driver misssing!!!
Same here... and no sound anymore! Even after deinstallation and soft-reset!!! It's not compatible with win 6.1!
But uninstall isn't enough: I think it is the wavedev-entries in the registry! Can somebody please export his Wavedev in registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev] for me or give me all values in there? Thank you so much!!!
Okay, I did a little reasearch. Try this cab here. This will do the job for the polaris with windows 6.1
SRS Wow HD, seriously screws up your sound irreversably ALL THE TIME. When you turn off the SRS, it doesn't revert your sound to factory, it reverts it to garbage, same with when you uninstall SRS. As for using SRS, it sounds decent, but the fidelity of your sound is lost. Try plugging your cruise into an aplified system and crank up the volume. You'll notice that the sound starts to clip and degrade much more quickly than before as the volume goes up.
I used to use this program all the time, until I realised what I was missing after a hard reset reverted me to factory sound once again.
EDIT: And to the people who asked about bluetooh, yes it can be made to work with bluetooth after a registry change, however, like I said before, you don't gain very much using this program.
Hi!
I recently got my Polaris, it is great! everything I ever wanted, but
....IT was PAINFULLY slow sometimes (a lot slower than S730, TyTN II and even the Touch Dual. ) (no this is not related to videodrivers, although they are needed as well!!)
So I spent some time figuring out why, and I found it!
The swedish rom is packed with stuff, like opera, and other things. Among this are the well known "Big start menu" and "Task manager"
Not sure which of these are the bad guy, but I disabled both and what do you know, the device is A LOT more responsive! (now it is a fast (well everything is relative) as a TyTN II and the other 400mhz devices)
Still need the videodrivers though for hardcore gaming and videoplaying (although coreplayer does a great job here!)
How do you disable the Task manager?
Kind regards,
Svante
You know what? I think you're right! Tested on a french "SFR/Vodafone" ROM.

You go to "Settings -> System -> Taskmanager"
Go to "Button", unckeck "Activate fastmenu on today screen" (or something similar since I am on a swedish rom)
again, not sure which of the two that makes your device slow as hell...but it sure does make a difference.
The appearance of the cube is much faster than usual!
Very strange but that works, folks!
I strip mine down to the core - nothing loads up apart from PocketPlus.
The culprit is definately the Large Start Menu thing I never use the Task Manager as I prefer WKTask. Thanks for the tip

I don't have taskmamager either...my phone is a O2 Orbit 2 UK ...although there is some kind of O2 app running in the lower right of the screen in the home page....maybe thats the culprit...because my phone is running crap and slow...compared to my brother's Orbit 1....
This is one retarded phone !
I have installed absolutely nothing at all....everything is factory.
GOOD PHONE......CRAP SOFTWARE.....ESPECIALLY O2 BRANDED...This really needs sorting.
worked great, i got rid of the large start menu only
i kind of like the task manager thing..

Try WKtask. It's different from the HTC Task Manager, but really worth (at least) a try!

I also have a (UK) XDA Orbit 2 and (sadly) it does not have the Task Manager icon that you show in your screen shot.
For those of you that have a UK 02 Phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368836
The normal HTC apps that everyone else got, we didn't get so you either manually install them or not. The O2 task manager applet is the biggest memory hog, I got rid of it. Those that do want the Task manager, there is a post on tweaks in the Polaris upgrade section with cabs - get em there and install em.

Thank you I link every question to this anwsers....
In my experience, the network or manufacturer has to set up a licence with bbconnect to allow the service. You cannot just buy a copy or use an old copy to get it to work. The rhodium has bbconnect working this is probably due to it being aimed at business where as the topaz is aimed at the casual user who won't need it.
I hope this helps.
