AT&T Tilt Radio Love? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I really enjoy my Tilt and want to take advantage of some of the new offerings from this site, especially in terms of radio performance. However, as you all know, all of the lastest radios interfere with the normal sound operation when installed on the Tilt.
Can someone please explain to me why this is happening? And can I beg and plead with some of the Guru Chefs on this site to help us lowely Tilt owners by finding a solution so that we too can revel in the glory of OEM freedom?
That being said...I love this forum. This is a killer community. Even with the video driver issue, I am so glad I bought an HTC phone and can be part of the excitement. It's amazing how much of the industry is affected by what goes on right here in this place. Thanks to all of the contributers for their time and effort.

The new radios will only work with the new 6.1 roms that came out. Once you put the new rom on your tilt then the new radio will also work. I am holding off though on upgrading to 6.1 because I don't want an official rom. I would rather have a cooked rom so I am waiting until the cooked 6.1 roms get out of beta.

I am using the DCS v1.1 on my phone with the newest radio and am loving it...

Apache ROM bin uploading now

ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Apache/
This is from a brand new HTC Apache, SprintPCS PPC-6700. CDMA, WM5, BT 1.2, WiFi, EV-DO, etc.
The Radio and ExtROM are there also. I'm hoping this will help us Harrier users get WM5 on our phones in combination with the leaked BA WM5 ROM...
92GTA, thanks for your persistence Here is hoping this helps us 6600 users get closer to WM5. One thing I noticed is that the hardware version for both the 6600 and the 6700 both say 0041, so I am really hopeful.
Crossing my fingers on this one. Make sure Buzz is made aware of this ROM!
Well, I'm no expert, and I have no equipment, no software, and no skills, lol. So I can't help much here. But I do applaud the effort and wish there were some way I could contribute.
Anyway, I would imagine that if you take the ROM from an Apache (Sprint PPC-6700) and compare it to the ROM of a Wizard, whatever the differences are is probably exactly what the differences between the Harrier and Blue Angel ROMS need to be (for WM5 to be functional on both).
Just a thought...

Hey could you possibly dump your device?, or guide me to a tutorial or a way to upgrade my harrier to 2.04? thanx
Wheres the ROM Gone??
Hi could you post the rom again, its not on the ftp anymore. I'm after ril.dll in particular. THanks
I browsed around in the FTP.
Since the Apache is some sort of upgrade of the Wizard (? - I think, I don't understand the differences between them), I figured it was in the Wizard section...and it is.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/HTC_Wizard/Extended_Roms/Sprint PPC 6700 extended ROM.zip
thats just the extended rom (the carrier's customisation files). I meant the full ROM. Anyway its ok I dont need it now I got the ril.dll I needed from the wizard instead.
btw the apache is a cdma variation of the wizard, only available in the usa as the sprint 6700, but verizon are releasing it soon.
how do you dump the rom? I've got a sprint 6700 ...
sprint has a 2.xxrom now, i want to put that on my 1.05 verizon xv6700-will it cause major problems?[/quote]

Which is the best, most stable ROM?

So Guys and Gals,
Which ROM is the best to use?
I'm resurrecting my Universal (after using a HTC TyTN II (Kaiser) with work and direct push)... BTW the ROM on the 18th November 2007 shipped product is 5.2.1620 (build 18125.0.4.2).
Which is the most stable and which will closely resemble the ROM I used on the HTC TyTN II (Kaiser)?
The difference between using this and the universal was scary, size aside, the performance is slick the HTC interface is great to use and the unit was shipped with everything you need, good quality case, extra stylus, 2 USB cables, software for backup (sprite), business card snapper, word commander, copilot for GPS etc.
OK so it's GPS and HSDPA in the box, but that aside the package is just soo much better than the crap QTEK/IMATE/O2 offered.
I think it might be Windows mobile 6 time for most as this looks worth a closer look... Anyway, so what's the best rom to use on the universal? I reckon it's worth another go if I can get the software sorted.
Thanks in advance for your advice...
At the risk of sounding thoughtless, I'll recommend that you take back your question as it's been asked hundreds of times. Everyone will have their own favorite, and they will all be different. Best advice would be to read the individual threads pertaining to each rom and see what people are saying and just try a few out.
Good luck and happy hunting.
Go through the forums, try whatever ROM you feel has received good enough feedback! Beasty and Leo released their WM6 Business Edition and the Full Flavour is expected soon. Mo3ulla's WM6 is pretty neat too, no extras at all! Lt Cdr Ivan, Jason and Thingonaspring also have ROMs! Happy browsing!
Hi there,
Our Vietnamese cousins cook one of the best ROMs too. Check out ROMs cooked by N. N. Coung and PDAViet. Here is a link to one of them:

KOR!
I knew i missed out some names i've used nncuong's ROM for quite some time!! nice stuff!
i use jwright's rom.
it's the best for me as of this moment
another vote for jwright's newest rom, even though I haven't tried the new release from beasty&leo, with the mms fix it will be the best imho.
now if only we could find a way to enable videocall

AT&T Upgrade to 6.5 for Fuze

WIth the Tilt 2 and WM 6.5 coming will the Fuze see an upgrade or will it be only for the Tilt 2?
Good question, but highly unlikely.
AT&T has already released a new rom for the Fuze with several fixes over 6 months ago. I'd be really amazed if they do offer a 6.5 rom for the Fuze. Though in all reality, i still fail to see why people stick with an oem 6.1 rom when 6.5 has so many improvements.
rumor has it that they're not going to give the upgrade for fuze owners. You'll have to deal with the cooked roms, (which i think really rocks, especially NRG's rom). People don't like trying new things and it's also about the big change from 6.1 to 6.5 which require a slight learning curve. but if you're here, then you're willing to learn.. i hope.
Agreed, huge NRGrom fan here, the latest release (genesis) is really nice!
you'd be quite happy with it - there is not much to fear about cooking. So long as you can have activesync connected to your phone for 10 minutes without interruption for the hardspl and rom install, you're golden (translation, don't try with activesync 3.0 or something really old that may not be reliable)
I personally REALLY like the new start menu for windows 6.5 - especially on newer builds where you can click and hold to move around programs
You will definitely not regret installing a cooked rom (again, my personal vote for newbs goes for EnergyROM)
rumours that AT&T is upgrading samsung jet & epix to wm6.5.
There are changes that fuze will be upgraded too.

Does anybody know of a date yet?
Seeing as how 6.5 is not officially to be released until october 6'th when the windows marketplace goes live, we'll see how long after that so AT&T can 'customize' the experience / Butcher the hell out of the rom.
I have a good feeling as soon as 6.5 comes out we are going to see a LOT more people hate their oem rom's.
i really really doubt there will be a 6.5 upgrade. to get an official rom approved, it requires the check off of the manufacturer (htc) and carrier (att) and maybe microsoft, im not really sure about them and winmo licensing to devices. but it would be easier to only focus on the newest devices. if you really want 6.5 they would prefer you buy a new device with it. ive been running 6.5 on my fuze for forever. it rtm'd in may so thats the real "release date" of 6.5. you dont buy windows mobile so dont focus on dates. new builds come out everday since forever. itll be interesting to see what htc does with 6.5 cause the new builds are ugly. for some reason microsoft decided to "improve" the interface without consulting on htc's design brilliance but whatever. we will see.
Does anyone know if you can install a cooked rom using Vista or Windows 7? I don't have access to a WinXP box right now.
Thanks
of course you can. theres no real difference. i have both vista and 7 for cooking. just right click and click run as administrator.

Really? Seriously? Granted, there are "under the hood" improvements but the UI is a bad joke.
How did it happen that MS can't even line up a grid of icons on a rectangular screen?
I'll tell you how. The artistiicly inclined design folks missed a meeting, and a geek with a slide rule explained how there would be more area for your fat thumb if icons were arranged in a "honycombed" grid.
This absurdity never got caught in time. Too late. Can't change it now. Wait for WM7.
Remember this whenever you look at your device.
Just my opinion. Doesn't matter. Some will be happy with whatever slop MS ships.
Sorry. I couldn't resist.
hi,

I'm pretty confused as to what to download and what not to.

I have a TP2 on Verizon. It's running the Verizon release of Windows Mobile 6.5 and I use the Touch Flo interface.
I used to flash my Treo WX to homebrew ROMs, so I understand the process, but I"m having a hard time finding what I believe to be the most current release of the HTC interface (Sense 2.5.x?) and the best (probably boils down to opinion from what I can tell), but I'm really lookoing for a good stripped down ROM without any verizon extras, running the newest release of the HTC interface.
There's just so many options, I can't tell what to get and what to package with what. Can anyone lend me a hand?
Juicy rom is a nice 2.5 rom. Also people really tend to like the Energy roms, I believe energy leo is the energy rom you want to download, not pheonix.
Check them out over here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=98
yep, leo is the CDMA rom, its the one i use on my sprint TP2
its just been updated to include sense 2.5.2012

Thanks people. This was what i needed. The Energy ROM post had the instructions i was looking for.

Touch Pro 2 Newbie

Good Evening all!! My TP2 for sprint is on the way (hopefully tomorrow but possibly monday)! I have been out of the upgrading game for a few years now. I am coming from a mogul and even in the last year I haven't done anything to that because I felt like I have explored everything in the previous few years. Will anyone point me in the direction of some good links? I feel like I am starting all over with this whole process. anyway... where do I begin? I've been looking for stickies for sprint unlocking but it seems even the basic terms are beyond me....PLEASE HELP!!!
P. S. I formerly used and loved DCDs' ROMs.....what out now is similar to those?
Hi, welcome back to XDA. Seems like you enjoy custom ROMs and personalizing your phone. Everything you need will be in this forum because we use CDMA phones. Seeing as how you are probably going to use a custom ROM, you will first want to check out the Hard SPL thread here.
Once again it is very important to make sure you download CDMA versions as the GSM version can possibly brick your device. The same goes for downloading custom ROMs, which i suggest you download from PPC Geek's CDMA TP2 upgrades.
Below is the configuration that I use. To review different benchmarks on some different custom roms check out the PPC geeks ROM Showdown.
Best of luck with your device and always remember, if you don't know, READ IT AGAIN. If you still don't know, Search the forums. If you still don't know ask one of the experts here
thanks you very much for your response. i'm going to begin "studying" tonight. My TP2 is scheduled to be here before 3 on Monday (so excited). is it all everybody thought it would be and more? I've been out of the upgrading scene for years
hey, i recently did the same thing (upgrade from mogul to TP2)
as burtonsnow linked, HSPL is stickied in this forum
personally i use NRG's rom (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86489)
i used to use DCD because it was lightweight, but the TP2 doesnt have the same RAM issues as the mogul, so i found i can indulge in a rom with some more eye candy
anyway, hope you like the TP2, im loving mine all my iphone fanboy/girl friends who thought my mogul was "nice, but not as good as an iphone" nearly **** themselves when they say my TP2 (they all want one now lol)
radios and such
is there a list of what radios work best with certain roms (and works well with gps)? when i had the mogul i used to use garmin mobile xt...is that the best program to use for the TP2?
i dont think there is as big a selection of radio roms for the TP2, ive really only seen the sprint stock radio around
i use TomTom on both mogul and TP2, so i cant comment on garmin
