have to supercid to change radio? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Do i have to supercid my phone to change radio?

yes, you have to.

umm... no, you don't. You can make a case to NOT SuperCID for easier reverting back for warranty. I've flashed several radios and have yet to SuperCID, only HardSPL.
It's all right here...

i m not sure if this is correct but according to my info HardSpl and SuperCID are almost the samethings. as HardSpl also unlocks ur CID. doesnt matter if u got HardSpl or SuperCID, ur CID is unlocked.

WM6 on my QTEK 9100

Hi!
I need some help / steps to update my Wizard to WM6 (or 6.1)
I tried with diferent ROMs, i followed the differrent guides, but something strange is happening.
After installing the ROM, everithing seems ok, the device restarts, but ... i still have the WM5!!!
What i missed? I have IPL/SPL 2.18, unlocked phone.
Some guidelines?
Thanks!
Peter
Not cidunlocked... as usual...
CID locked
Thanks!
I missunderstood that CID lock is different from SIM lock. No i undestand what's happening.
The problem thta i have now is using WST. I tried to unlock CID, but it says that i have to downgrade SPL to 1.06 to unlock CID (because is write protected)
So, corret me if i'm wrong, i have to
Downgrade SPL to 1.06
Unlock CID
Upgrade SPL to 2.xxx
Install WM6 ROM
It's correct?
Thanks!

YUP ! thats correct.First downgrade to IPL/SPL 1.xx to CID unlock, than upgrade to 2.xx for upgrading to wm6 or 6.1 ,follow this guide :-
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies
use button's rom to downgrade to 1.05 and make sure both IPL/SPL are 1.05 sometimes u have to do it twice to get to this state..
then unlock it both supercid and sim
then u can update to WWE 2.26 as this is the most solid base..

Confused

I have a Vox which is CID and SIM unlocked thanks to IMEI-Check.
I get Error 270 when I try and Flash a ROM. I do not understand why. The phone is CID unlocked so that means that I do not have to run UPSL? Am I misunderstanding something? What do I need to do to put a new Rom onto this phone. The guides all assume that your phone is not CID unlocked but I cannot find a guide that applies to CID unlocked phones.
Is there anyone out there with an answer?
USPL is the only thing you need to do, SIM Unlocking has nothing to do with flashing! You CID-unlock the Vox by doing USPL
Thanks - Ran UPSL and now have a wm6.6 SP!! I'm still a little confused IMEI-CHECK say there software CID unlocks your phone??? But UPSL still needed?

(Q) Change CID

Hi everyone,
I got a branded Desire S (Vodafone Portugal) and I would like to change its CID in order to turn it unbranded. I have tried the fast boot method of "fastboot oem writecid HTC__001" and it gives me back an error as "COMMAND ERROR!!!" with no real specification of what error it is.
Is there a way that i can change the CID?

Yes I noticed it i already asked the moderation if they could move the thread to the Desire S section.
I need to find this out to? I dont want to root my Desire S, I just want to changde CID so i could put unbranded software to it...?
You can just create a GoldCard and make it work, without root or S-Off.
Earlier today I created a GoldCard and upgraded my DS using the European RUU and I'm S-ON & Unrooted.

Yes I know that works I have a Goldcard. The thing here is that I would like the phone to be completely unbranded without the need os special cards so in case i want to sell it or send it to warranty it won't be noticed that i changed something there. So if there is a way to re write de CID it would be good.
Well i actually successfully installed the unbranded european ROM 1.28.401.1 using the gold card. But now i can't receive OTA updates. Is there a way to get it to work?
Why don't you run the European RUU 2.10 version (RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed) from the following link:

That's what I did

Just to answer your question:
(I may need to be corrected on this one)
Based on my observation and experimentation. The CID that you are trying to change, or the CID that the RUU is checking is actually on the build.prop on your phone.
Code:
ro.aa.maincid
But there are two checks that I've observed. Even though you changed the maincid, the corresponding cwkey should be changed accordingly.
cwkey created on your phone corresponds on what is on the build.prop and I believe is also being checked by RUUs.
And maybe just to be on the safe side, RUUs do check what is on your build.prop. If they are not what your RUU wants, it will not push through. Hence, you need a GoldCard.
I myself don't exactly, by codes, know how the GoldCard bypasses the checks. All I do know, is that it works.

So what that means is the phone has to stay branded? There is no way that we can fully unbrand the phone by changing the CID?
And after we use the Goldcard what happens to the CID of the phone?

The goldcard does not alter the CID. It just tells the bootloader to ignore the CID check when running a RUU.
One way to alter the CID is to XTC clip the phone.
Well i ended up doing what you all suggested and flashed the RUU with the 2.10 european rom with the goldcard in it.
But something went wrong and my Desire S is in a strange situation. For some reason the Goldcard did not work like the first time and gave me a CID error. But it flashed the hboot 2.00.0002 but retained the 1.28 rom i had installed on it. I have used the HTCDev method to unlock the bootloader but everytime i try to flash the 1.28 RUU again (to flash the old hboot again) it gives me an "unknown error" that is actually a security error.
Is there a way to get the old hboot back?

[Q] risk about s-on

hi
sorry for noob question.... I've got a vodafone branded sensation... What exactly I risk if flash a ruu that it's not the correct one to return s-on??
If you're S-OFF without modifying your CID, it won't work, and it may possibliy brick your phone. If you're S-ON, it won't work.
Just flash the correct ruu, read the guides close if you're returning to S-ON, I've seen some people bricking their phones after running the ruu

I'm s-off, without modifying CID... Which is my correct ruu? The one I had when bought the phone? The one I have now (I'm stock to vodafone last update)?
yo dude, sorry to butt in, but.. do you happen to be in australia?

Returning 2.20 to stock?

If I need to send my rooted/superCID 2.20 back to ATT for service, Can I just run the 2.20 RUU on it?
Do I need to revert the CID as well?
Hmmm, good question. The usual response to returning to stock is just relock the bootloader and run the RUU. But the CID is never mentioned.
I'd say that if they wanted to void your warranty, they already have ground to do so by simply going into hboot screen and seeing its RELOCKED. To see the CID, I believe they would have to connect the phone to ADB and use the required command. Those are extra steps they are probably not going to bother with if they can just look for the RELOCKED tag.
Seems like general concensus here is that AT&T doesn't even check the hboot, much less check the CID. So my gut feeling would be don't bother. But you can change it back if you're nervous about it.
