monitoring a pc on my smartphone screen - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Is there any way to remotely connect to my office desktop pc over tcp-ip from my htc wings (win mobile 6 standard)?
I know pcanywhere (mobile edition) but that works only with pocket-pc. Any solution for smartphone?
Any help much appreciated!

uhhh
...long time ago i ve seen an app Called PuppetMaster...LINK ,for like a remote controlling...or do you need any-file-acess-tru-Internet??The easiest way is to install any free FTP-Serversoftware like FireFTP...and then use the RescoExplorerFTP-or OrnetaFTP-or TotalCommanderFTP-Funcs..

Thanks for the tips, i'll check them out.
Actually, I did not mean an ftp client/server. I was/am hopping to -literally- see the monitor of a remote PC on the screen of my htc wings. Remote controlling and ftping is an additional plus.
Browsing over internet, I have yesterday found a possible solution in ultraVNC + VNCviewer. I tried but didnt work out so far...
any positive experience??

Use the "MouseMode" Feature of PuppetMaster...it will display your PC-Desktop on your SP-Display with a Crosshair in the middle, you can move around the Desktop-capture and do some actions like Mouseclicks and many more...try it, its really nice.

Best FREE Remote display utility for Windows Mobile 5.0

Which is the best utility given the ms powertoy download wont't work with windows mobile 5.
I want to see my pda screen on my desktop.
It will work. A quick Google will show you how.
What PDA do you have?
This is what my Google search throws up. It works for the Charmer and Wizard.
- it works!!!!
In the directory you installed the Mobile Developer Power Toys, find the "Activesync Remote Display" directory and RTFM ......
Basically, all you need to do is copy the two files in "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys\ActiveSync_Remote_Display\devices\wce400\armv4t" to the \WINDOWS directory on your WM5.0 device using ActiveSync.
When you fire up the shortcut for ActiveSync Remote Display on your PC, it *****es that "The OS or CPU of this device is unknown to this application" - just click Ok and your WM5.0 display will appear in the main window!!!! The first time that you start and stop the remote display, your phone/device will give you the "This program is from an unknown publisher...." message, so just say Yes and it won't ask you again.
The only caveat is that you seem to get the remote display icon (windows logo in a circle) in the notification area (where the battery and screen rotation icons are) one position to the left each time you stop and start the remote display. No big deal, but can look a bit weird after you've stopped/started about ten times
Give it a go - the quality of the display on the PC is as crap as ever (and zooming it only makes it worse), but it's still nice to be able to compose a message reply on a full size keyboard from time to time

works great on the universal too Thanks!

Remote Display Control for Pocket PC
With the Remote Display Control application, you can display actions on a Pocket PC, including user input, remotely on the display of a desktop or laptop personal computer. This is a great tool for demonstrating the power of the Pocket PC to a large audience. It also allows developers to test their applications for the Pocket PC on a larger screen.
Remote Display Control uses TCP/IP, and it can work with ActiveSync connections via Ethernet or dial-up.
This download is intended for English Windows Powered Pocket PC only.

Thanks
I made the mistake of installing via activesync.
Copied in those 2 files and it works.
I get 2 flower icons in the task bar.
May try installing again.
The display did look better when I last used this on a magician, dont think it is cut out for VGA.
Use EveryWAN free edition
The best software ive seen for more modern devices Remote Screen plus win mo 6.1 plus vista support is http://www.sparus-software.com/spip.php?page=download&lang=en
Called EveryWan Free its the dogs!
Another:
Also try this one, more simple than EveryWAN, but I use it all the time. The speed is similar to EveryWAN too. IMHO, the microsoft one is terrible.

Mymobiler is the best. EveryWAN is next. Microsoft's is the worst.

MegaSquirt tuning or viewing software for windows mobile?

So does anyone know any software that can be used to connect to MegaSquirt with windows mobile based device? There has been one version for pocket pc (PockeTune) several years ago but now there is no such a program.
So if anyone knows anything about using megasquirt with HTC TyTn or any same kind of device it would be nice to get more info how to do it.
Altavista is a better bet when searching for odd balls like this, there is thread on the MS board http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?p=161924&highlight=ppc#161924 just search for PPC on the forum, but I don't think this has been done from what I have read - Mike
I found the pocket pc project files for megasquirt tuning.
http://www.garysphotography.com/pockettune/index.htm
now it is time to take a look if this could be used with wm6.0 + hermes.. Sources are allso available.
Just try loading it, connect to the car and mess around with the vehicle stationary until you get some degree of confidence, a screw up at motorway speeds could prove costly let alone in terms of safety, I will be interested to hear how you get on with this though - I might even did the old box of tricks out and re-fit the Ovlov for some summer fun - Mike
I was thinking that if this could be used as rpm-, temperature- and lambdameter. I`m using megasquirt on ATV and there is that much of space for different meters.
Also it would be nice to get logs of different pulls to pda because logging with laptop in your rucksack is not so comfortable and may cause some injuries for laptops hard drive.
I tried this app but it does not have logging..

Remote Desktop software - which is the most suitable for Windows Mobile?

Good afternoon, dear forum users!
Please, tell me what is the best Remote Desktop software for Windows Mobile that you use? I have Xperia X1 and tried Remote Desktop from WM 6.1 version. It connects, but its fonts and screen size are broken. You can see it on the attached screenshots. If there would be a program which properly worked with fonts, Xperia screen size and was able to zoom regions, it would be just perfect! I really need such soft...
Who uses which soft for this purpose?
Thank you very much in advance!
I use Log Me In.
You have different zoom options. You use the edge of the screen to scroll around.
There are paid for versions that have extra features but the free version is plenty for me
Thank you for your answer, FlexiPack.

If I understood properly, it doesn't use Microsoft RDP protocol, it uses its own client and server. Morover, it makes me fill information about computers I access on their website. It's interesting, it's definitely a solution, but obviously isn't secure enough...
Is there any soft which uses microsoft RDP protocol(ordinary remote desktop protocol via TCP port number 3389) which has zoom ability and work properly with fonts and 800*480 screen resolution?
Try Remote Desktop Mobile. Don't know much about it but for me it always worked fine.

This is what I used and posted screenshots from above. It got some fonts troubles and doesn't work properly with my screen resolution. The cab of it is in attachment(just to compare if it's the latest version).
Just tried zaDesktop - it's very good, everything is nice, except one thing: on Xperia keyboard is always in "blue"-mode(i.e. if blue key was twice pressed). It can't be turned off. So I can't input some letters. But the rest is very promising.

MobileSrc MobileRemote 1.1 - NO SERVERSIDE CLIENT! (Mouse/Keyb/MediaRemote)

PLEASE TRY IT ON DIFFERENT OS's AND DIFFERENT DEVICES AND LET US IN ON YOUR EXPERIENCE
Thanks
At last. A remote control which doesn't require a server side client.. or.. to be more precise, it imitates a Bluetooth Mouse/Keyboard/Media controller, which means that your regular windows XP/Vista/7 (and maybe others?), your Mac OS, your PS3.. or your WM PDA can be controlled without installing additional server side clients.
I'll save you the trouble of multiclicking all kinds of screenshots and youtube videos - http://www.mobilesrc.com/MobileRemote.aspx.
MobileRemote isn't free and costs 8.99$/11.99$ - prices based on something i can't really figure out.
BUT, and that's a serious BUT, the main features of MobileRemote (from now on MR) - which are Keyboard and Mouse are EXTREMELY useful. the mouse feature, unlike in Salling's Salling Clicker, is much more precise because while Salling's mouse covers the entire screen, MR covers a specific range which makes the mouse very useful even on VGA devices. The mouse also has 2 left/right buttons, unlike in salling which requires a tap on the screen itself.
The keyboard is HUGE, has a nice LCDLike display when typing, has all kinds of symbols and shortcut keys matching windows (and Mac, it seems).. ctrl..alt..shift... and so forth.
There's also a G-Sensor Mouse which allows you to move your mouse when tilting your phone (or using the D-PAD).
In addition, there is a MediaPlayer/MediaCenter controller which allows basic actions like play, pause, fast forward, fast rewind, and track switching.
Now to the neat stuff.
MR allows you to record macros of movements and clicks to have your comp perform actions instantaneously. You can record.. and then load.
This can save you a lot of time if you're looking to "add" additional features of the app.
Feedback(?)
- The tilt mouse's resolution isn't good. it'll be be a tad jumpy.. and this is based on me trying.. not on that youtube video you can watch in their webpage.
- The keyboard is nearly perfect. I can honestly tell you I've never used such a comfortable and well adjusted keyboard. yes, it is a full screen keyboard, but as it's meant to control another device rather than your own, I guess it's important to have it respond fast enough and that you wouldn't have to delete 2 chars every 4 seconds. The keyboard also supports Portrait/Landscape modes to make everything even more comfortable. You also get typing feedback, somewhat like FingerKeyboard.
- The mouse.. it's almost like using your laptop's pad. Percise, clear, and even includes a scrolling bar on the right side. Tried that as well.. very well built.
- Reponse time for all features is very good. I tried a few minutes of excessive typing and moving and clicking. All went well.
- Pairing could be a ***** if not performed correctly, but following the instructions makes it easy enough. Oh, by the way, pairing might have to be redone if you already paired your device with your PC/MAC/PS3/PDA as it requires your device to be identified as a mouse and keyboard as well, rather than just a phone.
- Resolutions. right now, MR only supports QVGA/VGA resolutions. keep that in mind.
Comparison
Well, I won't waste your time comparing MR to any other Remote Control other than Salling since i don't see the point.
To make things clear, Salling Clicker and MobileRemote are different.
Yes, Salling Clicker allows you to write scripts, use XML based files to do pretty much everything you want and it can serve you better using Winamp, MediaPlayer, BSPlayer, system based options, etc.
What Salling doesn't offer (yet), is VGA support (although just a week ago or so, a member in Xda-devs changed the exe file to have bigger buttons, which i'm working with, but it isn't perfect), PS3/PDA support, and a decent mouse and keyboard, which is widely needed.
I use Salling to control my media, because there isn't a better competitor yet (not even G-Remote, which I also love, but doesn't support Winamp, which would be a basic feature in any remote control in my eyes), but for Mouse/Keyboard, I wouldn't think twice. 10$ isn't too much to pay if you really need it.
I have been asked more than thrice, if there's a mobile remote which doesn't require a server side client...
Well... here you go.

4. Ubuntu 8.10 (Gnome and XFCE, also with Blueman)
Works on Topaz against
1. Windows Vista ultimate 64 bit & 7 Ultimate 64 bit !
DOESNT work on Rhodium for some reason
Thanks for the heads-up! I may update my Media Controller bible with the new app.
you're invited to remove the sticky if you move this to another thread. no point in having this in 2 different places and taking up space.
BTW, in what configuration did you test it?
I've tested it on my HTC Universal and x51v (bot running WM6.1 and the MS BT stack - Widcomm isn't supported) against two (BT discoverable) Win XP desktops (Thinkpad a31p and HP TC1100). It didn't find the desktops at all. Did you have similar issues?
I ran it on a Diamond against a Toshiba Laptop running Vista with MS Stack and a Windows 7 Desktop with that new weird BT interface microsoft are running).
both worked.
Notice you need to pair the device from the pc WHILE running the pairing process in MobileRemote.
I might create a video to show how to pair.
I managed to pair with an ASUS EEE PC 1000HE running WinXP and a WIDCOMM driver and it works perfectly.

Thanks, this may have been the problem - I thought it would find all the desktops, without my pairing it from the desktops.
I suggest we list the OS's and device types it works on...
OS/Device list started. please let me know which device you use and if it at all works.
please list (as i did), the OS, Stack and type of PC.
I'd also like to know if you tried pairing to another device like another PDA or PS3..

In MobileRemote, how to move mouse pointer when when left button is pressed and held ?
hehe.. just tried it and it didn't work. didn't notice that before and i've been using it for quite a while now. apparently, it wasn't as important to me as it is to you.
I will bring it up with the programmer.
there is a drag and drop but unfortunately i need you hold down the left click on the mouse option of the program. I say 3 sec or so. That's the best its going to get for now other than that i have no complaints about this awesome program, AND I am using MR to write this so there u go...
MOD EDIT:
WAREZ WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN THIS FORUM!
warned!
so i have an xperia which i connect to my bluetooth enabled navigation systm in my car. since the phones blutooth is able to connect, is it logival to think that this program would allow me to use the phone as a wireless remote?
Do i understand that you're trying to confirm your bluetooth is working correctly? because regardless.... there's no reason why it wouldn't work just like on any other phone with bluetooth.
Topaz & Rhodium
Topaz (Diamond2) working fine onboth windows Vista ultimate 64 bit & 7 Ultimate 64 bit !
Rhodium (Touch Pro2) not working on either platform. I have version 1.1, and it cant connect to the new bluetooth stack.
Crap.... rhodium/fuze would be the 2 obvious choices for this software....

What do you use your tablet for?

I am trying to justify spending $350~ on a android tablet. What do you guys use your tablet for? Use it a lot?
I have a work laptop that is bogged down with corporate crap. I have my own personal desktop in the basement. My wife and I will use our tabs for browsing, video chat, games, movies and music. Much easier to browse in bed on a tab then a laptop.
Where to start?
- web browsing (replaced my awesome little netbook)
- casual emailing
- ebook reader
- cooking (much easier to hit www.cooks.com with this puppy)
- gaming (just getting my feet wet with this)
- development (just trying this out coming from a windows mobile dev background)
And I've only had this unit since the 19th, lol.
It's my sitting on the sofa toy, replacing my laptop and my Nexus One. Easier to hold than a laptop, easier to look at than a phone. Surfing, ebooks, Angry Birds, all the usual stuff. I'll also prop it by my desk for an "extra window," with Tweetdeck open.
Running TNTLite and fixing Flash and Market has turned it into just what I want.
In fact, I'm using it to write this!

+1... that's what it really comes down to. When the Ipad came out, I was so against it. I said to myself, I have a laptop, why do I need that. Now I just can't wait to get my hands on a g-tab. Just another gadget I guess, but for me it means my boss won't see all the porn I am looking at on my company laptop anymore! LOL!
I use it for things I could do on my phone or on a laptop with the quickness and ease of an Android phone but the larger display like a laptop.
Checking email, quick browse of the web, checking IMDB (app) while watching TV, Facebook, etc...
I like it for reading Kindle or Nook books as well.
Sent from my UPC300-2.2 using Tapatalk
Browsing xda on my couch without a laptop cooking my credentials.
The wife loves it for angry birds.
I plan to do some development for it eventually.

Oddly enough the Ipad connects much easier to exchange and does most of the other stuff natively. You buy the office App and the ability to edit Doc's and excel works great.
Given the hardware specs I'm mystified why Viewsonic is treating these as toys. Sure they're great for home use but we buys units in the hundreds so why make the primary business need to connect to exchange so damn difficult.

Same here. My calendar syncs without issue with our Exchange server, but a complete no-go on contacts. I also noticed there is a constant little sync icon in the taskbar near the battery icon, but it looks grayed out and nothing happens when I tap it.
For those complaining about exchange access.. have you tried OWA? I currently don't have access to exchange since I bought the g tab, but i know from experience OWA should work just fine. (If not, I know firefox mobile will run it, as will Opera) Quick shortcut on the dock and it will run. Just a thought.
I currently use my Gtab for a number of things:
* Ebook reading. The G Tablet, despite the awful view angels in the widescreen position have excellent viewing angels in the length wise position. I normally have technical documents open at all times when I'm working on a project (for when my desktop monitors are all busy)
* Music. A bit hefty, but allows access to Pandora which my Creative Zen lacks.
* TV. Sometimes I just want to lay down and watch TV. I use to use my Netbook for this task, but the Gtab provides a better experience.
* SNES/NES/Gameboy Emulation. With the onscreen controls, it makes an excellent platform for this. Works for all but the most dexterity demanding games. (Still have trouble with SF Uppercuts and 360 movements. Would like a emulation speedup button too. Makes grinding levels in Chrono Trigger/Pokemon so much easier.. same with autofire. One day maybe)
* Magic the Gathering: Save paper. Keep life totals tracked via Paint application. (and Saved for later disputes, used it this weekend, came in very handy)
* Web Browsing. I'm moving around quite a bit. Great for checking stuff, keeping up with Slashdot news and the like.
* Email. Adding to the list of devices I keep on me that can access email. Its funny to hear new email sounds from 5 different places. This one allows decent replys and html email. (Compared to my phone)
* Terminal. Connecting to terminal machines works well. Keyboard is a bit of a pain, but it works in a pinch. VNC connections work as well. If this thing had 3g (like the ipad was supposed to have, before at&t screwed it) I'd have no need for my netbook and phone.
* Google Voice. I use it for a lot of calls, via web interface I can check voicemail/text messages and make calls. Very useful.
The only things really missing from the Gtab is a good Wimax/3G connection. If it had one, and wasn't by AT&T, I'd have a replacement for my phone, netbook and Laptop. (Yeah I carry both.. Linux Netbook, Windows Laptop, mostly for games and programs I need that wont run in wine) And a GPS for wardriving.
TL;DR: Lots of stuff I normally use my desktop for when Im not at my desktop and a Laptop would be too bulky.

how do you use google voice to make calls?
-TV - slingbox client (not hd but great anyway)
-Web
-Roku box remote - for netflix, hulu plus, pandora
-Music - I use rhapsody which works well, plan on a BT receiver for my home theater
-games - let my wife use it for angry birds, keeps her off my ass about it
-development- testing some very basic med charting programs on it
-Log me in ignition - I leave my laptop at the office now but can get to it in a pinch
-ebook -using kindle software
-email
-radio - streaming radio from tunein app works very well
-chat - gtalk
-news reader - i get my morning news aggregate on this instead of my phone
More little things everyday but basically I have found a comfortable area between my large 17 inch laptop and my phone. I now have the best of both I think and that is coming from someone who thought the ipad was useless. I am now a tablet convert.
