if you dont want sms ,to wake phone up ...".advance config" application or
" hd tweak " and set it, in relevant application ,not to wake up..(seach on xda site for application ..)
( but to me its pointless ..what if someone sends you urgent sms.? and phone does not wake up ..? )
rather use ,first application or there is other similar, lock on wake up applications, on xda ,thats also good (try which application ,suites you the best ..)

Start > settings > Lock
then anything above 0 on that?
is that wat you mean by lock?

Please provide more info such as what Rom version you are running and list of softwares installed. Both of these can affect this type of issue.

I Have the originaly HTC Touch Cruise ROM with WM6.0 installed

I just noticed this on my ELFIN. Same symptoms, very frustrating and I don't want to hard reset. What do I need to look for in NOTIFICATIONS??
Any help is appreciated.

After some further searching I found it may be a setting in Battery Status (which Im using). In fact the "Lock Device" option was checked. I have NO idea how that happened but am happy I finally figured it out.

Hello everybody!
I know that amny ppl have problem with Palringo sound notifications, GPS working on background when HD2 is locked etc.
I have this problems too. But this night i found the solution.
Thats it:
APP: Screen Off from Marketplace.
When You use GPS or Palringo, and want to hear voice, run this app, check "Prevent Sleep", and click Menu->Off Screen.
Now all is working, voice notifications, Palringo not freezing phone. All is perfect.
Click power button and You will se unlock screen.
But something to do.
Im PHP and desktop PC C# programmes, but im not making apps for WM.
So hope some WM programmer will do best work of that i will write next.
Is anybody, who can do that power button, lock button, and automatic lock screen will do the same as this app?? I want to basic WM lock will keep system alive when phone is locked. I know that will be important for many users. It will be great solution for ppl who want use GPS and IM on phone lock.
Hope somebody will make this app.

How to silence a call (not cut it) ?

Okay, I have searched it but there was no answer corresponding to Atrix 2.
A call is coming and I want to silence it. I will not cut it because I dont want caller to know that I deliberately cut his call. In E71 there if I press right menu button, i can silence all calls (which stops vibration + ringtone in between). How do I do it for Atrix 2? This is not for all callers, I should be able to decide whose call I want to silent at that particular moment.
I dont want temporary/workarounds like keep it in silent mode/press volume button all the way downwards, etc. Thanks.

Just Press the volume up button once when you are getting a incoming call it will silence the ringer.

This is very annoying because I keep my phone on table, reading something on it, and suddenly the screen turns off after 5seconds. Help !

Perform a factory restore it will resolve your issue. Go to settings/privacy/factory data reset.

I am thinking of simple things first, make sure that you are not on maximum battery saver mode. Go to settings --> battery and data manager --> battery mode --> select the performance mode..
See if this solves the problem.. if it doesnt then let me know if you have installed any battery miser kind of apps.

1) I downloaded the facebook app. But it never logs in. It keeps on saying "loading". Similarly, when I try to sync social networking app/widget, youtube doesnt sync. It says "youtube sync failure". Why is that?
2) I recieve an SMS containing a mobile number. In E71, I could select the number and save it to a contact. This is not possible in Atrix 2. When I recieve an SMS containing a mobile number, there is no option to save it. This is the basic requirement of an SMS. Any ideas?

1) Its not the problem with the mobile, its the the issue with facebook ap.. and facebook android app is quite infamous, try something like friendcaster
2) long press on the mobile number in the message it will give you an option to create a contact

Pattern lock?
Is there a pattern lock feature for A2 like in case of galaxy s2 and iphone? If yes, how to enable it? All I have is number/passcode lock feature. In IPhone, the passcode is 4 digits and after that we dont have to press enter key, but in A2, i have to enter passcode and then press enter key (which is too much of extra pain).

Settings --> location & security --> setup lock screen --> pattern
Just dig into settings you will find everything you want.

I see what is happening here. Since I had setup my phone to use my office email, i have having such problems like screen automatically shutting down and inability to use pattern lock !!
Thats my best guess.

yes, that is because you are now forced into a corporate security policy. No way around that unless you stop using your office exchange account on your device. an easier way is to forward your mail to gmail, and setup a way to do this over https. This is all on the gmail site, so don't ask how to do it in here.

This should have been the first thing that you posted, little info like this my friend is vital..
Android gives you freedom, use it and start exploring.. it doesnt mean that people here dont like noobs, everybody here started pretty much as noobs, i still consider myself a noob. But what everybody expects here is, do your bit before asking questions.. explore the your mobile, search the web, even then if you cant figure it out, then search the forums even if you cant find it then post your query.

So I installed a new sandisk 16gb card microSD card yesterday (after formatting it first in PC, then in phone) and put some songs in it. More problems started:
1) Randomly, the phone says "no sim card". I have to restart the phone to get my sim card working. This is frustrating.
2) When I woek up in morning, the phone was dead. Something drained the battery to 0%. Why?
3) The notification was automatically set to some random song. Why?

Have you tried taking out the memory card.. see if it solves your problem.. though few things are strange in your case, but take out your new memory card out.. and pls dont ask why because there are already ample threads on "class 10 memory cards not working with A2"

How it works:
Activate / DeActivate Service from app.

It only works if

try in terminal emulator
su
echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness
(or any path for your device's brightness)
it should light the leds.
and then turn off the screen without pressing back or menu, (they light the leds)
if the leds keep lighted while the screen is off, then propably it will work. if not then the kernel restrictions apply to your rom.

They keep on, but they don't get on, if the device is already locked.

This is why I keep the screen on for 11 seconds. this way when the event comes:
1. android lights the screen and the lights for 10 seconds (by default of android)
2. android ask them both to turn off (after 10 seconds) -
But the screen is still on as I asked. :good:
So a second later (11 seconds) I turn on the lights and release the screen. (turns off unless you unlocked it)
try not to interact with your phone if you want to test it since you receive the sms or the missed call, cause then the lights wont start. (since you already saw the event)

it worked for me but .. 1st the led they are not bright ... you can't see them clearly .... and they just stay tuned ..if you can make them blink good luck ....

BLN control this application needs feature enabled in the kernel ... you need to path the corect driver to support it i tried it ... ... this project it is better it uses libs ... i think there is app it uses lib like this ... but it work just when the screen is on .. it kills when is off .. but this app it work ... the problem it is not bright .. and it needs blink ..

BTW I found a way to increase the brightness of the keys, while the device is locked and blinking leds would kill our battery

I will try add a handler to execute
echo 255 > /sys/class/leds/button backlight/max_brightness
after the screen is off. probably since the brightness is 1,
it will allow me to play with brightness level. and simulate blinks. I will try if it works later.

I found the brightness values in kernel, the thing you want to do won't change anything i guess

they wont kill battery if make them blink every 7 or 8 sec ... blink for have second .. stay off for 8 sec .. and blink ..
you meant you must change them in the kernel .. may be you can override setting

Yep. tried it but it wont allow changes. not even with screen on.

So now I could succesfully build kernel, now I'm hanging with modding our lights.goldfish https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_generic_goldfish/blob/cm-10.2/lights/lights_qemu.c like https://github.com/neldar/liblights_gt-i8190/blob/master/lights.c . Maybe anyone of you can help me ?
