Moving to a Vox from an 8525 - HTC Vox

So my 8525 is doing the white screen thing and its out of warranty. I am pretty sure I want to get the S710 and I am wondering if I will have any problems getting setup. I have AT&T right now and have the unlimited PDA plan thats like $45/month. I'd like to go back to MediaNet which is cheaper but I heard that doesn't work with these phones. Has anyone made the switch to this phone with AT&T and if so, what problems did you have to solve? My sim card currently says Cingular with the 3G logo.
Thanks,
Curtis Shirley

radio help please.......

ok guys ....i have been having this strange problem with 3g...im in nyc and edge works fine but as soon as i get in to a 3g area i lose all service?right now im on duttys new rom and i have tried almost all the 6.1 radios..the settings r on auto ...when i disable 3g in com manager the edge works fine...I want 3g(or i would have bought a iphone)....someone please help...
thanx
Did this issue just start since Dutty's rom? Or did it happen with other roms as well?
it has happened with the last couple of 6.1 dutty roms...
Have you tried the 2 radios that were ripped from the Polaris? They have been the best for me on WM 6.1 roms.
yes i tried one forgot which one .....but ill try both tomorrow night....dont have my laptop with me today....this is just strange...like i said edge works fine as soon as i get into a 3g area i lose service...and if i get lucky and do have service i have no internet service but when i try to go to a website ill lose service again?allways set my internet connection to allways on if that makes a difference.....thanx for trying to help
Is your SIM one of the new AT&T branded 3G chips? I remember reading a while back that the older Cingular 3G chips can stop working on the 3G network as they age... something about the coding on the chip becoming corrupted with age.
If the radios don't help, I would try replacing your SIM.
ya tried just about every 6.1 radio last night and same thing edge fine but 3g no go.My sim says att on it cant remember if iv had it since the hermes....but i guess ill try a new sim card...again thanx so much for ur help.
ill report back once i get a new sim card.
just as an fyi, when I upgraded to my tilt, the woman at the store said that all the Cingular Sim cards are being phased out. I then asked about the people in my office with the AT&T simcards that are older and she said that it was just the Cingular emblem cards that they were phasing out. Don't know if its just the pretty branding or not, just what she told me.

At&t Fuze Radio & Reset Strangeness..

Boy I'm gonna get hammered bad if my search failed to find an existing thread on this one (and yes I will moderate this thread if someone can point me to a relevant thread)...
Just exchanged my first Fuze at 27 days of use because I was experienceing the following issues:
1. Often times when changing bands (i.e. from G/E to 3G or back) it would completely drop the connection.
2. While on a call it wouldn't switch bands.
3. At least once every 36 - 48 hrs it would randomly soft reset.
4. It would lose the Data Connection and not be able to reconnect until I soft reset.
I tried several Radio Roms (Raphael 1.01.25.16, 1.02.25.28, 1..02.25.32 & Experia 1.06.25.29 & Blackstone 1.09.25.14) with the same results.
I used my own Cooked Rom, At&t Stock 1.95.502.5, & Da_G 1.9 w/MSVC again with the same results.
I've also run with & without HardSPL and both Security Locked & Security Unlocked all seems to have no effect on this issue.
So as I said I just exchanged it today. Now on the way back to my office the replacement did a random soft reset!
Has anyone else seen or experienced this issue?
I'm going to go out on a limb here. Have you replaced your SIM card since this issue has started.
Actually I didn't think to do that as my SIM was replaced just a few months ago when I acquired my last (4th) Tilt.
I'll stop at At&t Corp Store on the way home and get a new SIM....

Actually there is a new sim card, with better band selection. The new sim card was released for the multiband switching issue known with PDA's. Your issue sounds like many I have seen in the field. Especially with the Fuze. This stand most true for people in the 3g/edge border that consistently switching back and forth.
Here is a pic of the sim, make sure they give you this one. not the old blue and white one.
Well, the local store didn't have the orange SIMs but they did have one newer than the one I was already using.
Don't know what the numbers mean but I noticed your pic has 71247D, 2024 just to the side of the SIM and mine has 71234G, 3022 there.
I'll just give it a few days and see if things are better. If now then I'll call customer service and insist they ship me an orange SIM.

The 71234G 3022 one is the same one they shipped me when I got my Fuze (like 2 days after it came out).
I haven't even activated that one, instead I just stuck in my old Cingular branded SIM and it seems to be working alright.
I'll get dropped calls and stuff, but I don't think its related to the SIM.
I contacted AT&T when I got my Fuze and they said there's no real reason for me to swap SIMs and I could just keep that one as a backup, so that's what I've done.

You should be ok with the one you have, now if you need the newer orange one and they want to charge you p.m. me and ill ship you one no charge. just let me know if the sim fixed the issue. Effectively you still the old sim.
71234 is the SKU for the old sim card.
71247 is the SKU for the new one.

Does the cingular sim say 3G on it. If not use the AT&T sim.
There have been NUMEROUS network upgrades since the days of the cingular sim, and those sim's are not provisioned for the updates. So if you are getting numerous amounts of dropped calls then you need a new sim card

This is great info, thanks! I've had some more dropped calls than usual lately and was thinking about flashing a new radio. I think I'll try the new SIM first!

LMAO......
Even moderators don't use the "Search" anymore. What's next?
All joking aside, mine has been doing the same lately. I figured it was my crappy "cooking". Actually, it could be both. Was thinking of returning mine as well because of the random resets. Things that make you go hmmmmmm!

I PMed you.
The Cingular SIM I have does say 3G in small print on the back, and the numbers on it are 64205G 3020
Same with me. Everynow and then the only way to get online is by a soft-reset. I notice it after I've left my phone idle for a while. I got my Fuze in November it came with a blue and white SIM with an orange 3g logo and ATT written in white.

That's the one mine came with but I haven't been using it, I've been using a really old Cingular branded SIM.
I'm going to switch to the blue/white one though to see if it helps with my dropped calls. If not, I'm going to go to the store to see about the new orange one.
Okay I've still experienced all problems with the new blue one. I called CS and they have shipped me an Orange SIM.

Man, I really would have thought a sim swap would have fixed the issue. I can see one bad fuze, but two in a row doing the exact same thing. Thats a serious issue. Im really hoping that the new orange one fixes the issue. I, from a technical aspect can understand why this is happening and that is what this new SIM is supposed to correct. Lets hope!!

Going to get my orange SIM in about 30 minutes. I'll test and report back.
I just picked up a new SIM card (71247D) to replace my old Cingular 3g 8525 card, and as I was driving back from the AT&T store, my phone dropped a call 3 times! Do I have to wait a period of time before AT&T's network or the phone provisions itself for the card & services? If not, then the new card seems to be no better than my old one.
In addition, my 8525 dropped plenty of calls, while an old Blackberry, like the 8700g was flawless in phone quality in the same areas. I am in Phoenix in 1900 PCS.

It can take up to an hour for all the data provisioning to be burnt to the sim. Usually right out the store just the phone side is active.

OK, had my new sim card for a little over an hour. No dropped calls so far. I also don't know hwo or why but I have 2 more bars of 3G now. Before I never got above 2 bars of 3G. Now I have 3 bars minimum but mostly 4 bars. It's a little too early to find out about the random resets, but so far so good. Thanks for the heads up. Fingers crossed.

HTC Fuze on T-Mobile Network

Okay, I want to get an HTC Fuze off of amazon to use it on my t-mobile service, it will be unlocked so do I just pop in the sim card and make it work? I heard that if I want to use 3G that I have to pay 25 dollars a month for the data plan otherwise it'll just be EDGE network. I've searched around google, and I've read about ROM flashing, it's like a firmware update kind of like the PSP has official updates then you can have Custom Firmware so is it similar? Thanks!

I mean EBAY
If you want 3G on TMO, you have to find a way to recieve 1700MHz, and the phone is not capable of recieving on that frequency. If you want 3G on TMO, you need to buy a TMO phone. You will be able to recieve EDGE and GPRS signal regardless of the phone, as TMO also broadcasts on 850MHz.
Yes, that is exactly what a firmware update is. Much like flashing the BIOS on your computer, (both held in ROM).
you will not get 3G on the Fuze with T-mobile but EDGE is almost as fast to me since I made the switch from the G1 to the Fuze. There are a couple other threads on what settings and radios to use with T-mobile. They helped me a lot. (check out my signature as well)

Well I got a G1 off of Ebay for 217.50 because I want the 3G, are there updates for the G1?
Cupcake update came out a month or two ago (virtual keyboard, bluetooth, etc....). There are a bunch of new ROM's which include the "Rosie" interface but are pretty buggy still. Check out the Dream forums on here for more info

Using AT&T SIM card from FUZE to an iPhone

just a quick question and i know im soo crazy for asking this but i just received a use beaten iPhone 16gb 2G and i just unlocked it and jailbroke it...is it ok for me to swap my SIM card from my FUZE to the iPhone without any problems in case my FUZE dies? like will AT&T notice any changes and will i be able to make successful phone calls and get on the net?
thanks in advance
Your operator shouldn't notice anything, and you should be able to use it normally.
You'll have to unlock your iphone though I think.

[Q] Android prepaid sim card issue, Sharp FX Plus asd1

Hey all, my mom just got an unlocked AT&T Sharp FX Plus asd1 android 2.2 phone to replace her old phone. She uses AT&T prepaid service so when I was setting it up for her I just used my T-mobile sim card with a data plan which worked fine but when I put her sim in all I get is a sim card icon in the notification bar with an exclamation point. But the weird thing is not only is it an AT&T phone but it came unlocked and I rooted it I even did a factory reset but still nothing. Her prepaid sim card works on my rooted T-mobile G2 no problem I'm not really sure what to do she could I suppose get a tmobile prepaid sim card but I don't want to have her buy more stuff for something she may not be able to use. I thought of updating it to 2.3 like my phone but besides rooting it there is little in the way of development I really don't wanna have to tell her she's gotta sell it to get her money back. This shouldn't be that hard I've done stuff like this b4 with no problems what so ever am I missing something? Any info you guys could give me would be awesome and thanks in advance.
Call att and tell them you are changing phones. They have been locking sim cards to IMEI as of late.
