I have a Prophet G4 which appears to be unlocked - however I put my Orange sim in no problem works like normal. I put my pay as u go 3 Sim in and I can make and recieve calls but tells me the service provider is Orange !!!! I know it's 3 because I dial to check my balence. Ok when i put my 3 contract sim in the phone it tells me there is no sim! The sim works ok in my 3 phone. Where am i going wrong? What do I need to do I want to use my 3 contract sim in the Prophet!!!

Phone is a SPV M600 ruinning Windows Mob 5 and SPL 2.20 IPL 2.20 if i try to add a new rom it just keeps going to three colours bootloader.
SPV M600 need to unlock after you splash you phone. if you no unlock, it prompt your no sim card.the unlock method is ok .I try it. do you understand chinese ?

Hi Spinny, I'm not sure if this is right but I think the prophet is not a 3G phone ( which uses the UMTS connection) but is a 2G phone running on GSM. Your phone is probably unlocked and able to use sims from T mobile ,Orange ,O2 and Vodafone etc.
As far as I know , 3G phones run on UMTS when there is an available connection but will switch to GSM when the UMTS not available. Therefore it connects to your Orange network and works but you will be getting billed by 3 network and you wouldn't be able to use video calling.Hope that helps. Hi, I've recently got an Xda2 and had all the fun of trying to get it to unlock. having followed all the info on the web and runnung an unlock program on the phone itself, I can insert my SIM, enter the code and all looks fine....but i'm unable to make or receive any calls. Also, I dont sem to be able to find any contacts. Very confused! The SIM works fine in my other phone?? Any words of wisdom would be very welcome at this time,

maybe you could try to use another sim to see if the xda is incompatible with that sim cards it's not unheard off
OK.....this is a bit wierd. I've tried another SIM, still vodafone, but its about 2 years old. It works! Why? Whats the difference between my vodafone SIM and a 2 year old vodafone SIM?
ask vodafone i know that 3 made it so their sims only worked in utms phones maybe vodafone also found a way to block other phones
I have had my m500 for quite a while, I unlocked it as soon as I bought it, as I prefer to use my o2 sim in it. Yesterday I decided to put my Orange sim in it, it would automatically divert my calls to an unknown number, so I had Orang give me a cancel all diverts code (**.....). Now when I go back to put my O2 sim in it, it turns on, but won't search for network signal, instead it says
"invalid or missing sim. you may still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it"
I know it was definately unlocked, just to make sure, I have even unlocked the phone again, but still, other than an Orange sim, nothing works.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks in advance
My dad has an At&T tilt (htc kaiser). He unlocked it and we are trying to get it to work in Israel with a cellcom sim card. The sim card in my phone is working in his phone, but the new sim he bought for his phone only works in a slvr l6 we have. On the kaiser, the sim is recognized, but it won't connect to the cellcom network (it does with my cellcom sim card). Do you think upgrading the rom would help the problem (he still has the original rom that came with it from at&t, and he has paid them and unlocked it) and if so, which ROM for the kaiser have you found to be the best for you. If I flash it, will it work fine in the US and in Israel, etc? Now that it is unlocked, is it for good even after reflashing it? If you don't think the rom is the problem, do you have any other suggestions as to why one specific sim would only work in one phone? All suggestions are welcome!!!
ok first thing the rom has nothing to do with that flashing it wont help, what you need to find out is what band that company uses and then select the ban from your phone and that will allow the phone to work if it still dont pick up ur phone wasnt unlock properly, remember it takes a little time to pic up its not as quick as the other phones. If you still choose to flash ur phone you need to read some of the threads first and make up ur mind based on the comments made. but personaly they all are good to me some have a few ups and down but nothing major or you can use the orginal rom posted by dutty a few days ago its stable.

This is the weirdest problem I have ever encountered, because my phone (an l6) uses the same sim from the same company (cellcom) and my sim card works perfectly in the kaiser. The new sim card does not work in my l6 OR his kaiser, but works in my mom's cheapie unlocked phone and another (a bit newer) l6 (same model phone!) that we have with us. So connecting to the network is not the problem, as the kaiser does that with my sim in it. But with the new sim in it, the kaiser refuses to connect to the cellcom network. I have no idea where to go from here. Why does it work in one l6 and not another? Why my old one work in my l6 AND his kaiser, but the new sim works in neither? All help is greatly appreciated!!
I've bought a Sprint PPC 6700 from USA (through the internet -used-) but I didn't know that it comes without SIM reader?! It's locked to Sprint Network only. When I bought it I thought that I can unlock it normally like any other PDA, but I surprised when I saw the SIM space empty without the holder?!
Is there anyone who can advise regarding this issue? I've opened it and saw that I can install a SIM holder but the problem now is how to disable the built in line (SIM)?

Basically i am currently working in the UAE and am trying to use an Etisalat sim card. Upon inserting to my phone it acts rather slow, gprs logo comes up but it cross hatched rather than solid.
In the UK i know the phone works with all network sims, so it is unlocked. Upon entry into the UAE with a british sim card, it attempted to connect to etisalat for roaming, but this also failed, so i set it to the other national carrier 'du', this works fine.
I assume that this is a radio problem. Currently running 1.10.OliNex
I need to use this Etisalat sim, as its a company simcard. I'd rather be able to abuse the edge/3g on my htc than the monochrome nokia i have been given!
