Hey xda techies,
Here's my problem; I'm not sure if it's because of WM6 or the MDA Wizard / 8125, but it takes a long time when I take pictures. What I mean is when I press the button to take the picture, there is a delay between that and taking the actual picture. Most of the time, it's a miss because the person or the actual picture I was trying to take moved!
If anyone has a configuration or a tweak to fix this, or even another picture taking program - I would really appreciate it!
Phil
Plus...
Oh and I just remembered...
Also the flash of the camera comes on pretty early. It barely gives that extra hint of glow that it's already gone. The way it is now, it's a waste of flash. Anyone know how to fix this?
Phil
my solution
this is pretty much what i did. took off my casing and drilled a hole through the flash spot. its soooooo bright now!!! it can easily light up an entire scene at least 4 to 5 feet away!!!! its an extremely bright light. people get blinded by it now up close

Holed up!
Yo Taz,
Now I wonder how the hell did you ever figure that one out! It's not everyday someone decides to just drill a hole throught their pda!!
Seriously, thanks for the heads up... What about the time delay between the button and the actual cam taking the picture??? Any info on that?
Man, the things we do to find efficient solutions...! You crackl me up!
Phil
hahaha. thanks. i wasnt sure if i should do it or not but i didnt really mind. i hated the flash being so dim it was frusterating at times. now i dont have to worry!! about the flash time i realized that the best solution was to use the Batterystatus overclock to about 247mhz and not have anything else running at all. also turn off the shutter sound and turn off the picture preview that happens after you shoot. makes things a bit quicker. my camera is really quick with pictures now. i save to my 2gb storage card!!
hope that helps. let me know how it works for you.
find the coolCam application. I had it in one ROM many months ago and it was a FAR more efficient camera app then the one that is being installed from every other app. not sure why it faded so quickly but it was a very lite version that ran very fast!
Dis someelse test it? Is it OK with all devices? Can someone send the pictures? Maybe even with before and after pictures?
THX
Okay....
Alright guys,
I downloaded Coolcam and installed it. Works pretty well and somewhat better than the cam with wm6 / 8125.
My problem is, I tried to change the program to start when I press the side cam button on the pda! It didn't figure in any of the lists! I currently have it on program files, but I just can't get to it!
Anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Hi
Last time a was out driving I found out that when I placed my mobile on my mobile on the dashboard it works as a Head up display With some tweaking it works perfect as a speedometer and speed camera warning(using tom tom), but I need to find a application that can invert my display. I tried searching, but with no results. Does someone know about a application that could help me with this?
Search better.......
There are tons of these apps....You could also do that using a simple Mortscript file.... Or maybe using a particular task manager (anyone, except the winmo one, has this feature...)
Next time follow the link on my signature.....

I know there are alot apps that can rotate the screen, but I hav'nt found any that can invert it yet.
I missed something.....
I'm just curious... Why you want invert your screen?

Because when I put the mobile in the dash and the display shines in the windscreen it gets inverter. So i get a bit har to read everything backwards.

Maybe it works....
Think the OP is actually looking for something to create a mirror image of his display, as opposed to just inverting the colours.

Sounds like it yes! Someone?
Sounds like an awesome idea. I have never heard of software possible of doing this, but at the very least I understand what you mean. You want to invert the image, not the colour (text = txet) so it appears correctly in a mirror image (or a car windscreen).
I will keep an eye out, as it should be possible, though I haven't seen anything yet.
just asking, why don't you just use a windshield (or any other kind) mount for all what you want? why go into all this trouble?
Because a windshield mount is all "in your face". Using the reflection is a lot more subtle and is just plain neat.
To those who didn't understand i took som pictures today, maybe someone would take the time to make this kind of program?
The picture are a bit fuzzy because it is nearly imposible to hold the camra steady for the five seconds it takes without i tripod. There are also two reflections from the windscreen, but it is easily readable in real life!

No one knows?
i'm interested in this as well... but just don't have any knowledge on how to do this. one alternative is to perahps add a mirror somewhere to invert the screen once prior to the windshield...
Does anyone know of a program that's kind of like the fun lights on the motorola phones...or can someone make one i think out would be pretty cool

disco era is gone, man...
lol but it would look cool
We need to get some people working on a program like that.
is any way to emulate nokia Xpress-on Fun Shell to get something like this on air:
I remembered VJAY555 made something similar to this just for fun.
He did vjplumbum that plays a Christmas song and the leds "dance" accordingly and another one to appear like the movie "close encounters of the 3rd kind" main theme...
Both of them must be offline, because I cant find them...
With these, you probably can find a tool that make them run (they are both EXE's) as soon as the phone starts ringing. Take in mind that all these are for wm5/6.
Now, about that nokia airtexting i never even heard of, but it looks very fun... I made a small test in flash, but i cant find more technical informations about it, I need to know the timing and sizes for the display to show a message... All the gadgets I found on youtube had accelarameters, but I don't think its needed...
I'm attaching the small tests i did to appear a heart on the screen, one is sideways and both dont really work...lol

Just make a search in:
instructables
wikipedia and
google for the term:
POV (percistence of view ) *not the pr0n POV =P.*
its the basics of cinematic....
i believe that you can make it flash something like 12fps...
I did... nothing usefull came up.
Nokia-like wave messaging seems really cool, but I don't know if a phone's screen is bright enough to achieve this effect.
I can try to make a small Win Mobile utility that does this, maybe using the accelerometer, but right now I don't really have time for this.

Cheer's mate
works nicely. i like the fact you can rotate the bezel to alter the brightness.
Cool, it even allows full power, and apparently without limit, suggesting the LEDs can actually handle that... that's damn bright.
Now it would be even better if it didn't do that stupid animation everytime it's launched.
Thanks for sharing!
OK, just for fun, LED current draw:
Step 1: 32mA
Step 2: 107mA
Step 3: 530mA, thats 2W of LED. Mighty. I can light my whole flat with that. LOL
Nice.
Many thanks for sharing
Great app!!! is there a way to start it without the intro..?
http://pocketnow.com/software-1/new-htc-flashlight-app-for-hd2-available
Would it be possible, a recruitment Create menu where you can disable the 3 mode?
Thanks for sharing.
This is a very nice app.
I agree with other users, that it would be even better if it would start without the animation.
Any chace to achieve that?
All the Flashlight interface is done through GIO1: by HTCFlashlightLib.dll, which exports the functions EnableFlashLight and SetFlashLightDegree (though I haven't figured out their parameters yet).
Control codes for DeviceIOControl are 0x220C10, 0x220C04, 0x220C00, the last two are excessively used throughout the ASM. It also imports some clock stuff from MSM_CLK.dll - is it possible this one controls stuff like the CPU freq?
Thanks for the effort, and it looks nice, but it's useless due to the startup animation.
I have TorchButton in quicklinks, I just tap and it's instantly on. This thing takes a full 2-3 seconds which is kind of annoying, though I'm sure someone can fix it.
Edit: Also, this is 1.2MB larger than TorchButton... just saying, I wouldn't care if it didn't have animation at the start.
Thanks for sharing! Loving every detail
Decrease power of flash in photocamera
Can someone write to me the key of register to decrease the power of the flash when the camera is used?
cheers mate nice app
+1
It's nice but the start up animation is a bit of a bind.
My other TorchLight program starts up instantly just like a flashlight should
do you have the rest of the dump of the rom it came from?
This is a briiliant app but sadly as soon as I installed it my HD2 went all squirrley. My phone started to hang and booted slowly, when I got it to finally load using the slide to unlock the phone caused the screen to go black...
I like this just not sure why it did this...
In the end I uninstalled it and all is okay again...
Scott
ok. i know this is for htc devices but i put i on my lg expo. and it works as in it turns on and off the led but it turn on the front message led not the back camera led. does anyone know where the key/value that controls the led might be
thx
search for sometime now, could not find any leads that may shed light to this
anyone out there? I'll try searching for it in the registry, if only i know where to start
First off, I don't know why you'd even ask for this. It's a tiny burst of vibration that happens only once when you power up the device, and that's it. There's no harm in it and I can't see a genuine reason for wanting it gone since it happens so rarley.
Secondly, you can't get rid of it. It's part of the self-diagnostic that runs when you switch on the device. If you did find a way to stop it (and I'm 99.9999999999999999999% sure you won't) then the phone would probably think there was a problem and not boot.
You're gonna have to live with it mate.

I was also looking for a solution to this problem.
You asked, why one should wish to deactivate this little vibration on startup...well, quite simple:
My HD2 performs its system backups every night, while it is in its cradle beside my bed. I am using SPB Backup which does a warm reset after finishing its operation. It's really not very funny to wake up every night, only because there is this "little" vibration during the boot up process.
If you are a user of a genuine HTC ROM, there is even an additional little melody playing after vibrating, which is still more uncomfortable! Only for this reason, I just reflashed my HTC ROM back to a Vodafone ROM (which only has the vibration).
I think, it would really be a good idea, If someone found a tweak to suppress the boot up vibration!

I know this seems like a pretty small thing to be concerned about, but I just wanted to ask if anyone else has this issue or if they have resolved it. The front camera on my nexus 5 is not aligned properly when looking at the lens through the opening in the glass.

It doesn't affect pictures taken with the camera but it is off centered so much the lens is almost partially hidden and it is very noticeable. At first I thought I could live with it but I had some free time and just for fun decided to open it up and see if I could move the camera at all and I found that the whole board/bracket that the camera mounts to is out of alignment and am now wondering if that is something to worry about.
I also have a slightly loose power button and wonder if maybe the board being out of alignment could be the cause of that as well. Other than the power button and the front camera I have not noticed any other ill effects. Anyone else have this issue or input?

Ocd?
Your ocd is freaking you out? Maybe you should send it back to Google to fix that but it's a waste of time, and about the power button I have the same problem and you can solve it putting a little piece of paper between the button and the eboard
I'm definitely not feeling that worried about it. Like I said, everything seems to be working fine and I only bothered to open it up because I was bored and I thought it would be a fun project. I was mostly just surprised to see that the whole board inside the phone was out of alignment and not just the camera and was curious as to whether or not this was common. I did end up wedging some paper in between the power button and it seems to have alleviated that problem. As for the camera, it's a shame it doesn't seem I can fix it but I don't think it will really bother me.
