Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find it in any searches I did. I am pretty hesistent about doing this myself and the directions are know all that clear to me. Is there a video showing how to back up and flash a Rom? This is including the apps and/or cabs I need installed on pc or ppc. Any chance someone could do this if there isn't one? Thanks for anyone's help.

not until you feel comfortable should you attempt to flash & experiments... unless you want an expensive paperweight !!
At least try to SEARCH !!!! before asking anything....

Couldn't say it any better, directions and every thread on this board is clear as glass. If you scared to do it, then stick to the stock rom. Sorry, but I believe post like these really push members buttons, after seeing two or three pop up everyday.

Hi guys,
So I downloaded 2 Roms of 6.1 found in this forum (the one from Dr Martin and the one from fireburned)
Now before flashing I have a question about the USPL.
I bought my phone factory unlocked. Do I still need to run that procedure before changing the rom?
Secondly, how do I backup my current ROM? (in case of it going bad)?

my recommendation, YES! but if you had used the search, you would had found out the answer yourself.... well, we all where new to this too, but a little bit of interest on the matter is really helpfull if you want to learn about it. asking "already-hunderts-of-time-anwsered" questions is just too lazy.

for your second question, do a search, and you'll found out why you don't need to backup the rom. if you still want to backup after this, if think, you'll find the answer on how to do it in the wiki...
If there is a SHIP ROM for your carrier, no real reason to backup since you can revert to this.
You will most likely need to use uSPL to temporarily SuperCID your device to allow it to flash any ROM as they are CID-locked. Unlocked simply means it does not have a network/SP lock on it.

I understand, but if it's something that comes up often, maybe the mods should make a static post about it? Thats usually to avoid ppl asking the same questions all the time..

Same situation here and I had to run the USPL proc to get the new ROM onto my device.

I actually followed Dr Matin Gonzo's guide to update to his rom and it worked perfectly,
I even got to backup my old rom (using the wiki + the SDA Unlock tool)

Serious Problem.. PLEASE HELP!
so heres the story...
ive been flashing roms onto my tilt for about a month now... modding it and all that good stuff.. but i made a stupid rookie mistake..
so i was in a rush earlier today to get to work and i wanted to try phoenixs new rom... thinkin i covered all the bases...
i left the sim card in my phone when i flash his rom...
now my phone wont read my sim card... it still works and all..
but it just wont read the card and i cant connect to att..
i have another att phone wich i put my sim in.. and it works perfectly.
its just the tilt wont read it at all..
so do i have a shinny new building block? or is there a file or steps i could just install to fix..
i tried flashing differnet roms.. tried doing the cid/sim unlocker, tried searching..
but nothing..
please.. any help or answers would be greatly appreciated..

Which ROM? I wasn't aware we had a chef named Phoenix.
I handle PR for a ROM called Phoenix, and this question should be in that thread IF you think it's a problem with that ROM specifically.
aka READ JIMMY'S RULES AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM.
that being said. I flash with the SIM in all the time, so I'm not exactly sure what you have done to your device.
Try a different Radio ROM, not a full ROM, a RADIO ROM.

I flash every new rom made and I have never taken out my sim card when i flash a rom. You need to post your question in the thread that you got the rom from.

Yes -- he should ask me...in the right thread. I too never take my sim card out...ever. I flash 10 or 15 times a day when cooking.

Yeah I agree tutorial exists but in pieces. I just kept everything at one place so that New people could get some help. I know the pain of searching web for help while device is in middle of rooting process, stuck and no where to look.

Yeah I'm new here...I use this forum only to search for rom for my device. I rooted my Desire long back but had a hard time rooting it. SO I've done some work, collected everything and written it.
Hello guys!
I have installed Cyanogenmod 3.7.0 (android 2.3.7 version). It's MALGDR installed.
I want back to stock, but I'm not sure how.
I have downloaded the ROM from local HTC-site.
The rom is put on SD-card, so should I erase everything on SD card and make a partiinion FAT32 or can I do this AFTER I have installed WinMO 6.5?
Or could this occur some corrupt data or something during installl? Any help is highly appreciated.
Also, when I will start installing. Should I use the method on using VOLUME DOWN + POWER ON button, to get into that tri-colour screen and then plug in USB, wait for it to connect and then just drive from computer?
When I run the ROM from the computer it is like random rom install. It has to detect the device etc.. for it to install. This will not be any problem?

I'd be very surprised if you were the 1st person to want to go from a Magldr booting ROM back to WM, so the answers you need are probably already there. I pointed you there purely because you'd be surprised how many people don't know their devices have specific forums.

Wow, that was a real nice thread. But I'm wondering about if I install without deleting partitions on SD card, and just run the ROM-file that I downloaded from HTC.
Can I do this? I'm really not sure how to exceed this prodedure, since I want radio and HSPL being all original.

I rooted my device yesterday and decided to install custom ROM: CM10 (CynogenMod). Honestly I don't like it. I just want to go back to stock EVERYTHING, touchwiz. I don't care so much about UNrooting as to going back to touchwiz is my main concern. I'm pretty sure I can UNroot it since there is SO MANY friggin' videos on YouTube on how to do it and NONE on how to flash it back to stock BEFORE UNrooting. Though I'm confident that I'd be able to UNroot it I was just wondering if it was ok to do just that WHILE Cynogen is my current ROM because I don't care if it deletes everything while doing that, I just want to go back to stock. ALL the vids on YouTube are either of Verizon models, UK or ALREADY on stock ROM and only showing UNrooting. So as you can see guys I'm pretty nervous and would appreciate ANY kind of help. And if it helps I backedup on Titanium before flashing to CM and my S3model is the Sprint version, SPH_L710. THANKS GUYS.

Why don't you try a different ROM or even a launcher. And remember, if you haven't bricked a phone, you just haven't flashed enough LOL

2. download rom in zip file
3. extract the .TAR file which is to be found inside the zip(it's only one file, you can't possibly miss it)
4. connected phone while in download mode
5. ODIN, PDA, insert .TAR
6. start and done.
(to make it easier the steps are in the right order)
Before you do anything, SEARCH and make sure you understand the procedure. When you think you understood give me a reply and tell me what you have to do to make it work so you won't screw things up even worse.
Consider forgiving me for talking like a jerk, I'm not like this usually, but this is at least the 15th time I see someone asking how to restock.

What's Up man, dude No worries man your frustration is well understood. Don't apologize, I LITERALLY woke up yesterday and decided to get into this whole rooting thing since my phone is off. Did enough research to get it done by not UNdone. I was too impatient to pay attention to the whole backUp and restore process. But I carefully read your rules to your game, lol, and understand them completely. In fact the whole Sammobile was my first idea but sammobile's registration wasn't working at the time. Working now and made my username etc. Now its just telling to wait for my download, 13min., due to traffic? Anyways I do have Odin. I know how to extract, but to make sure. Am I USB debugging before I power down and go into download mode? You don't have to reply but I REALLY do appreciate you taking the time out to make that list. AND please dude, no worries on the jerk attitude bro. I'm your student man, teach me man its all good. Oh i'm new to forums too so I'm not too sure on where the S3 Q&A is. Sorry dude I'm new to this whole forum thing so I'm pretty siked that people are actually replying! Pretty cool for me, anyways I'm new to this whole rooting thing too, like I was telling Sewrizer I LITERALLY wokeUp and felt like rooting my S3 sine I'm no longer with Sprint lol.
