I have orderd a GPS Reciver for my Vox and wonderd what app is the best for navigation that does not need an active GPRS connection so the battery will not drain too quickly?

Bye

Somebody know if is it possible to install IGO My Way or Mio Map on HTC VOX? I know that both applications are running under WM5/6 or on WinCE.

"IGO My Way or Mio Map on HTC VOX"
Nope.
TomTom will run fine though.

Hi vlodeck. I'm new to this forum and my question may sound stupid . I'm trying to make Mio map work on VOX. In task manager at device information OS: shows windows Ce version 5.20. Shouldn't be WM6 ? Anyway if I try to start mio map I get an error "In c:\projects\GPS_2006\firefly\platform\win32\ce\ffsurface_wince.cpp:611". I did a search on google and found that I can resolve this problem using GAPI, the only problem is that i cannot install it. I was wondering if I can replace the gx.dll from windows folder with one provided in gabi.cab. I'm expecting your opinion on this. Thanks.

Tomtom on WM 6

Has anyone installed tomtom 6 on tornado with wm6 installed?
I can not get het it to work, tried the "TomTom 6.020 for Windows Mobile Smartphone"
Furthermore i need the T9 cab for swedish also if anyone can provide a link.
Thanx
tomtom 6 run on my tornado , it only need to set on "never" display time out becouse tomtom dont do it ...
Tomtom 6.000 and 6.010 are running fine without going back to the homescreen. Version 6.020 and 6.030 also work fine, but they return to the homescreen after a while. Even with the display time-out on "never".
You also may have some problems installing 6.010 because it will tell you it is not intended for this device. So, install 6.000 and copy the exe file and the data.chk file from 6.010. works for me.
I also have Tomtom mobile 5.2 running because it runs better with the keyboard.

With tt5 you must put "GPS" in the name of the gps receiver when you pair it. For tt6 this is not necessary. For both tt5 and tt6 you most define a com port. (probably com6). In tt6 you must select this com port. This is tricky because you need a program to control the mouse. The most easy way is to use "Pocket Controller-Pro" to control your smartphone from your pc.

I read nearly all posts but TT6 and WM6 - what can be the problem ?
I tried the ttn.cab 6.01 and 6.03 but nothing can be installed on the sdcard.
What else can I do ?

TT7 And Touch Pro

Hello,
I have i diamond but i want to bought a Touch PRO can you answer at this question :
Touch Pro with Tomtom7 is lag like diamond or not ?
thanks in advance.
@+++
tomtom 7 and diamond
I've got tomtom 7 up and running with no lag at all, but i know that the "wrong" version will be very laggish, så my advice get the diamond version that works!!!
Did you get TT7 working with TOMTOM Home 2.3? I tried, but my Touch Pro is not recognized as device. Without the device being listed, I cannot buy a map and load it to the TP...

Do a search in the kaiser section ... the answer is there somewhere. I know that when i installed TT7 on my Kaiser, i had to rename and move the installation folder. An error would still be reported by TT Home, however this could be ignored, and sync would then happen normally.
I have TT7 working fine and very fast on my Pro and on my Diamond - version 7.450.9028 with the official Diamond Maps purchased, downloaded and installed from tomtom.com - the Diamond Ver 7 maps are specifically designed for the VGA screen but actually take up less memory?
Also - both versions of TomTom home also work well but I preffer ver 2.3 as it was easier to add the extra's such as Map Styles, new voices and a car icons!
Hope that helps?

Bah... My Touch Pro didn't come with TomTom...
The touch pro does not have TT7, however you can get the cab from the kaiser forum. Maps can be purchased from Tom TOm - select the TOuch Diamond under map ugrade.
TT7 works great also on my Touch Pro (as long as no other programs are running, which preferably should be the case). Can't compare to TT7 on the Diamond though since I don't have one, but can only assume that the extra RAM on the Touch Pro could be making the difference here!??

How have you managed to get maps downloaded to Touch pro.
I can't get TomTom Home to detect the touch pro, i have tried everything.
I only have the free london city map.
OK, TT7 and Touch Pro is killing me... I tried a number of things and I cannot get it to work with MapShare. The device never shows up in TOMTOM Home. So here are some specific questions:
Which version to install?
a) ttn7.cab (12351909 Bytes)
b) TT_Nav_7.450.9028_repack3-vga-black.cab (12348539 Bytes)
The Navigator folder should be moved to Program Files with following content?
contacts, itn, logging, microbrowser, sounds, voices, CurrentMap.dat, data.chk, navigator.cfg, TomTom Navigator.exe, ttnavigator.bif, UserPatch.dat
Is that correct?
The bif file has the following content:
[TomTom NAVIGATOR]
DeviceName=HTC-RAPHAEL
DeviceVersionHW=Windows CE 5.2
DeviceSerialNumber=<removed>
DeviceUniqueID=<removed>
ApplicationVersion=7450
ApplicationBuildNumber=9028
UserName=<removed>
UserPassword=<removed>
CurrentColorSchemeBuiltIn=0
CurrentVoiceInfo=Jane
Features=PlusDownloadDynamic,PlusDownloadGeneral,PlusDownloadMap,PlusDownloadPOI,PlusDownloadScheme,PlusDownloadUpgrade,PlusDownloadVoice,PlusDownloadRingTone,PlusMessageNotification,PlusPushChannel,PlusTraffic,PlusWeather,PlusBuddies,PlusMobileSafetyCameras,PlusRoadConditions,PlusFixedSafetyCameras,PlusOnlineCamera,Newyork,Itinerary,Caymann,Durham,Handsfree,PhoneFeatures,CarSymbol,SDSlot,SMSSupported,SupportKeyControl

UserPatchDatVersion=102
CompressedPatchVersion=150
MapServerPatchDatVersion=104
DeletedPoiDatVersion=200
ServerLineIndexDatVersion=102
ServerNameIndexDatVersion=102
And a link needs to be in the StartMenu/Programs...
But all this did not work. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Make sure the tomtom app is installed under "navigator" and not "Intern guheugen". Create a new directory under root and copy all the files across. Tomtom Home should then recognise your device.
I have TomTom 6 on my Touch Pro and it works stonkingly well, no real difference in performance from my old Navman. I had to turn off "assisted GPS" in Schaps advanced config though cos it kept losing the signal every 5 seconds or so with it enabled.

That's just the point of this thread... I want MapShare to work so that I can purchase maps...
Still working on this one... It looks like the TOMTOM Home application is looking for the ttnavigator.bif on the device and once it finds it, the device is listed? Can someone confirm this? By just copying a ttgo.bif file to the root of a removabale media, this is being recognized by TTH as a device. And the older verion of TTH works with the TP having ttnavigator.bif in Program Files\Navigator. Any suggestions on how to solve this puzzle?
I have exactly the same problem - TOmTOm home does not see any device connected. Strange that i had no issues with this on my kaiser, yet i can't get it to work on the pro.

tom tom on td2

have a qeustion wil tomtom 6.030 work on touch diamond 2 because i have dis one all ready
i really hope its gonna work
tnx

No, you'll need Tomtom 7, which you can get from this forum. Tomtom 7 does not work with your version 6 maps, so you'll have to purchase new maps. Yes it sucks. Also, you cannot move your Tomtom services, such as Traffic, over to your TD2. This is because Tomtom refuse to support the device.
Sorry for the bad news.
Personally, I'm so pissed off with Tomtom that I'm seriously considering using something else like IGo.

yes i'am not gonna buy the tom tom 7 i'am really mad too

Hey all! On my phone it is that version that works perfectly! If there are problems with the voices, simply copy the voices folder on your memory card!
http://rghost.ru/310020
I got ttn7.915.9196.vga_black_yarda working here perfectly with with Western-Europe 830.2307. It came in my All-programs list and i added it myself to the "today"-screen with comes with your HTC.
Hello
Where should I put the voices folder?
When I start the tt7 they ask me to add a new card, then I go directly on the website to choose the card I download it but then where should I install it ?
Thank you
Voices goes in the root directory of the SD card. Same as the maps directory.
Latest tt7 bought from tt on 4GB microSD does'nt install nor work

How did you do it, man?
I bought the SD-Card TomTom 7 with Europe_1GB maps (825 built 2159) offered on TomTom's website since some weeks.
Neither install, manual install, TomTom Home nor something else works.
The extracted "TomTom Navigator.exe" and also the Home app 2.6 refused to support my O2 TDII device.
Then I installed 7.910.9185 black VGA, but I was only able to download one city map. My bought Europe maps are recogniced, but rejected when I select it through menu "maps change".
How can I make use of my Product code now? Or is there any chance at all?
Please help, or send me some hints by PM.

You have to make a shortcut to windows\startmenu\programs.
You can copy the file and paste it as a shortcut to the programs folder with explorer. If you don't like the name "Shortcut ..." you can rename the shortcut to whatever you like.
If you now look at your programs than you will see your shortcut. There is also the problem of the clipped voice. You can run any audio program except Media Player with a silent audio file, then the voice clipping is gone.
You can also search for the audio problem fix. Someone has made a cab file to fix al the problems in one installation.

Tomtom 6 'memory access violation' ideas wanted!
Had Tomtom 6 (fully legal) working fine on my Kaiser. On TD2/Topaz, whatever I do (soft,hard reset, load from different sources) I get the same 'Tomtom cannot start: memory access violation' msg. Internet search shows lots of people with same prob, but no answers or workarounds. Seems to me might be screen/display related as TT starts to load but with squashed format before hanging. Reluctant simply to buy TT7 in case a) that exhibits the same prob and TT specifically do not support the TD2/Topaz at the mo and b) some people seem to have got TT6 working fine on TD2.
Any ideas gratefully appreciated- might have to have a look at iGo as previous poster suggested, which is a shame as have used Tomtom since v2.
Thanks,
Tony

Although I haven't tried it myself I believe it is mainly a screen size issue, if you use the "WVGAFIX3_BY_Cotulla" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974 and change the res TT6 will work.

Tomtom doesn't give any Resolution errors, so it should work for any resolution, but the Tomtom Version Tomtom 7.910
Tomtom 7.910 needs v 8.XXX maps, but you should be careful some map versions are only for PNAs ... You you should download the maps compatible with PDA or PDA&PNA
Tomtom is the best for Europe, but I do not like its simplicity, I like iGO 8.3.X Maps are updated monthly
Tomtom can not identify your device's com ports as well, for example, it may find your internal gps as a bluetooth gps, or viceversa.. So you should search for any kind of gps device in settings of tomtom in case if it does not recognize automatically

I shared QVGA version of 7.910 on one web site, but before sharing I tried it on Htc HD, Htc Diamond, Htc Diamond 2, Htc TyTN II. So these resolutions are, QVGA, VGA, WVGA.
TT sometimes identify your Internal GPS as a bluetooth GPS, I say this information if some can not find their internal GPS, aim is to help to solve issues not to say bad things about TT.
If you have licensed version you may find correct maps, but ones that do not have should be careful to download maps that are compatible with PDA.
Regards.
Anyone has the same problem?
I've tried TT 7.910, 7.915 and 7.916, but all have a refresh lag.. So normally the screen (your position) is updated every second, but at my HD2 it updates in 5 or 7 seconds!
I've tried the internal GPS as wel the COM4 and 9600 baud GPS...
Google Maps works perfect (as far as I can see).
Don't know what to do about it.
Anyone?
Xmoo, The TomTom application works indeed but as soon as it starts it says it can't find any maps and then tries to make an internet connection in order to download maps at www.htc-citymaps but it then results in an error as the webpage doesn't exist.
How do you get TomTom to work with the maps and speech ?
Note: the installation CAB was 9 MB's hardly enough to conatin a full working navigation tool so it's clear that i'm missing data.
TT Maps n voices
black vga cab is 13.3MB - no voices, no maps no htc-citymaps - no joy....
Any help...anyone?

am really interested in the type for each phone
also what version maps should i be buying? I am guessing v8 but does it matter which version map

..try to move them to the "My Documents" directory...
An other issue could be that the maps you are using are not compatible with your tomtom version..
Thanks for all the advice people.
I have managed to get it working, i had to create a 'CurrentMap.dat' file and place it in '\My Documents\TomTom'. This tells tomtom which map to look for.

Works great now!

With WM 6.5 you don't need the TomTom Audio Fix anymore
All 7 versions of TomTom wil work with the HTC TD2.
I have had 7.450, 7.915, 7.916 and many different builds.
Now I have v7.916 Build 9192.
There is a new version of TT
TomTom Navigator 7.918.9193
can anyone please let me know what settings you use for Tomtom 7?
For example, do you select the "internal gps" or "other enmea"? If you select the "Other .." then what "COM" and "Baud Rate" do you use?
I have wm6.5 and tomtom 7.45.
Thanks
It depends what you are using
What is your device?
Do you use an external GPS device?
I use what is in my signature en because i use GPSModdriver i take
other nmea - 9600 baud - GPSModdriver

If you select "Other", choose COM4, baud rate can be 4800 or more, 19200 may be a good choice. Note that some versions of Tomtom 7 do not show properly the list of received satellites, both with "internal Gps" or "Other..."
One most recent version of Tomtom solves this problem and also solves the audio cutoff issue (for WM6.1 users).
Aikon
my device is diamond2 and i have installed tt7.45 on it successfully but i do not get any gps signal.
i was wondering is there any particular set up required for it to work?
No i have the TD2 also and in the beginning i used internal GPS and it worked great accept for the lag.
Go to settings from windows and go to external GPS
in Programs my setting says COM4
in Hardware my settings says None and 4800
in the third tab(toegang in dutch) chek the box
Try to install the latest version of TomTom Navigator 7.917.9186
and use GPS Mod Driver http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571266

...try to get outdoor ;-)
Download the latest Quickgps.
How long did you wait?
I tried outside including on top of the roof at work!!! waited for 30 mins, to signal at all!!!! not even one grey bars!!!
I have the TT 7.45, wm6.5 (official). I have run quick GPS a couple of times as well.
I was wondering if it would help if I cohse to install a custom FW like Dutty's.
But I will try to get the latest TT and GPS Mod Driver and report back here on how I get on.
thanks

really strange; I never had such problems; I also didn't need the gps mod driver;
How is tt configured? Built in receiver?
Cyron - which version of TT have you installed?
What settings have you applied (internal GPS, or NMEA with com4)?
thanks
