MMS backup - General Topics

Is there a way to copy MMS messages from a WM2003SE smartphone to my new SPV M3100 PocketPC? Both devices uses Arcsoft MMS.
I prefer using my desktop PC. Something like Jeyo Mobile Companion with MMS support but so far I wasn't able to find any way to copy them.
Thx

Nothing?
Two "smart" devices with the same system and no way to copy MMS messages from older to newer one?

Migrating text messages (SMS) from WM2003 to WM2005

Hi, Does anybody know of any way to migrate (copy) messages from WM2003(XDA2 Mini) to a WM2005 device? I tried the follwing :-
smsorganizer (can't work in WM2005)
sunnysoft backup manager (Messages are imported, but nothing is shown in the inbox)
Is there any other way of doing so? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Use jeyo mobile extender for outlook
it backs ups all your messages to outlook. You can then download them all to a new mobile. Like I did from m1500 to exec and wizard.
Yes Thanks! I did come across just after i posted and it worked perfectly!!!

Save my SMS

Hi all,
Is there a way to save my sms.
Do a hard reset, then put back my sms.
Thanks you in advance.
smmonla
The file is
windows/PalmMsgV001
Thanks a lot.
So all I have to do is copy it, do a hard reset then copy it back.
yes - it has worked for me in that way. In fact I have moved them between my 750 & tytn - which I added this threaded sms program to.
Thanks, it worked great.
do you know what the file is on the 8125??? thanks in advanced...
is there a desktop application wherein you can send/receive SMS when your device is connected to the PC via activesync?
I used JEYO on my other PocketPCs doesn't seem to work on palm's threaded sms app though. The developers are on haitus I think?

I also use Jeyo on my other WM devices. But, yes, Jeyo doesn't work with Palm's threaded messaging app.
Is there an alternative to Jeyo that works with Palm's threaded messaging app? Anybody?

Separate SMS and MMS inboxes

Hi,
I've noticed that some ROMs have SMS and MMS combined, and some have separate inboxes. Is this controlled by the registry, or is it a different build of the Pocket Outlook application?
If it's controlled by the registry, has anybody got any info on what to set in order to separate/combine the inboxes (preferably separate).
Cheers,
Steve.
I want to do it too
afaik is it depending on the arcsoft version you're using. 4.2 is splitted, 4.0 and 5.0 have mms and sms together....

[solved] Text message account cannot be used to send email messages?

I recently upgraded my HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125) from Windows mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6.1.
Everything is working OK, but I just learned of this... on WM5, I could send an SMS text message to an email address. On Wm6.1, I get the error message "Text Message account cannot be used to send email messages". Is there another way to send SMS messages to an email address? Or, is there a setting somewhere (in the registry) that will allow me to select an email address as a SMS text recipient?
Thanks!
sms is std only a thing you can send to a telefone number
but an network can offer the service to pass on sms's to email address
so i suspect you need to get what ever 3th party program did it on your
wm5 rom and install that and it should work
if the program is not there you cant do anything with the reg as it's not std wm functionality

hmmmm... thanks for the hint. I'm not really sure what program I had under WM5 -- like I said, I have a Cingular 8125 and the WM5 was the "factory" installation.... does that give you any clues?
As far as I know I'm not running any special 3rd-party messaging client -- I assumed that the SMS stuff on my WM5 was the default Windows Mobile Messaging client... the interface on my new Windows Mobile 6.1 looks pretty much the same (except I can't select an email address as a recipient for an SMS message).
thanks

I found my answer... the HTC Diamond ROM that I had downloaded, was missing some registry settings to allow SMS-to-SMTP thru the AT&T phone network.
the answer was already on this site, sorry I didn't find it sooner!

Treo and SMS
Hello,
I am the CEO for SynergeTech Solutions, the makers of Windows Mobile SMS Sync. For some reason, Palm decided to build their own proprietary SMS software for their Windows Mobile phones. Any application built to use the default Windows Mobile SMS data store will therefore return zero messages as they are not stored there for these devices.
At one time, Palm offered an SDK that possibly would have contained the APIs needed to interface with their proprietary message store for SMS. Unfortunately, they seem not to offer it anymore and I have been unable to get a response form them for guidance on obtaining it.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no backup/export applications in existence that can interface with these devices. If I am incorrect, or if anyone has the Palm Windows Mobile SDK, I would love to be corrected. My company is actively working on adding support for Palm devices and I will be sure to update this thread as soon as a Palm compatible version of Windows Mobile SMS Sync is released.
Thanks,

SMS Backup
I too have been looking for a "sync" utility for SMS for the Treo 750.
Haven't found one yet, but I backup my messages to my PC simply by copying the message database. The SMS database is one file named PalmMsgV001 in the windows directory. Using ActiveSync Explorer on your PC it's as simple as "copy and paste".
synergetech solutions is a joke!
crappy customer service. mostly all reviews of their products seem like "paid" reviews. f'n crap company.
mr. "ceo" wannabe. step up your game.
