I am tired of looking at my old standby homescreen! There's got to be something better out there!! What are you guys running on your screens? The stock schemes? I've seen some really good ones out there with LCD plugin and various other stuff.
So chime in if you want to share any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, or whatever.

Yours look interesting, but you may find alternatives if use the search function by looking for TODAY or HTC HOME or POINTUI words...
I'm using Pearl. Aaroinara (sp? sorry), made a good portrait version. Available over at the SBSH forums. Requires Facade. Another nice one over there, Twilite.

With the exception of the weather stuff (which I don't use and probably won't, since I don't have a data plan), I think that homescreen is *awesome* What are you using? Me wants!

Oh thanks. Mine is a slightly modified version of "PAH Vista" screens found at MoDaCo. Go here. I changed the order of certain items, increased font size, and removed some text. But the general layout and backgrounds are all the same. Check it out.
There are HTC HomeScreen, freestylWM, pointui.home, HTC Home Customizer, etc. But none works on Tornado! I am envious!
I fancy HTC Home Screen and will have it installed with the following exceptions:
1. able to replace the FavoritePeople and the Weather with my choiced application
2. able to add more taps to the home screen instead of only 3
3. installable to SD Card
SGregory did a good job with the HTC Home Screen
making it possible to be installed on Tornado. Some experts hopefully can pickup from there.
my thoughts.
Thanks

Sounds more weird to me. I tried numerous times; install, reinstall after reboot but still no luck. It failed to auto download the plugin. When I manually install plugin it crashed. I followed the instructions religiously at pocketemu.com. Karhoe, did you get the files from pocketemu and how you managed? I am keen on this.
thanks

Not flash mate. It hogs the memory. I've tried the freestylwm.com's homescreen and gave up on flash.
Anyone tried pointui.com's. I like it but need customization to suite non-touch screen.

sorry to messed up my post. pls see next one.

sorry. see next post.
This is my customized homescreen.
1. Carrier/Date/Time
2. V2R.ag's PhotoDialer
3. ElecontWeather
4. CBReminder Plugin
5. sms/email count
Not shown are Missed Call/Voice msg.
Quite basic but I want to be able to have a quick look at my appointments and number of unread messages. I am trying to put the Task there too but constrained with space.
In pointui.com's homescreen, I fancy the "ribbon" but only if it can be customized and integrated into the homescreen's xml.
Anyone interested I can post the xml file.
Thanks
illi
why not using flash? if BenQ E72 can work just fine with it's ~17mb of RAM after start then why my Tornado with ~28mb would have problems to work with it?

Flash makes the device unbearably slow (IMHO). I have installed freestylwm.com's homescreen. But finally decided to uninstall. You also need to customize the layout to fit the screen since it was designed for PPC not smartphone.
I am now seriously looking at pointui.com's. Looks promising and needs customization too to get the right links. However, it was quite "smooth" on my Tornado WM6 and I like it very much.
You may want to try PointUI's.
thanks
i know pointUI, but it's not in my taste
this one i am talking about was special designed for BenQ E72 which is a simple WM6 smartphone, with 64mb RAM and 260mhz procesor, i think this homescreen should work just ok... will see.
best wishes.
hmm something like this? http://labs.designprovince.com/inde...8:LiveU!&catid=39:Mobile Wallpapers&Itemid=56
gues it wont work on wm2003/5/6, maibe someone can port it?
Hey guys,
here is my homescreen. It is based off of Kristoff(I believe, but whom I did contact for permission) homescreen but I changed a lot of it to make it look more WMP11. Pretty much just requires the Facade plugin. Didn't post the missed call screen.

here it is
SKIN FILES
that is hi-res glass minimalistic VGA skin with files..If you have WisBar then unzip all files and copy them in Program Files\Lakeridge\Wisbar\Themes...tsk file copy into Windows directory, and in Today screen choose bista theme as default..Then go to Wisbar and select bista as default..and that is it...I have allready optimized sounds and images so if you want to change again to anything...help yourself...I have to notice that this is extreeme variation of bista, optimized for speed and design..I have another one...black...everyone can make a skin..but I choose to deducate my free time for tiny little design upgrades and modifications.

correct ! today plugins are just "unneccessery additive"..so in skins and themes I decide to rearrange everything for minimalistic "speed-way". So I do not have any "freezings" or sort of that problems...

you need to unzip files first!..in some folder..then that folder copy into your device into folder..I am using Wisbar Advance 2 and nothing else..try again...unzip file and copy it into devices program file of your skinning application.. I think that some of our themes should be incorporated into Universal 6 to stay away from Windows Mobile "retro programming"...I think it is only a matter of time when some mobile device producer will choose to incorporate some ROM from here into their devices and products...That will be the best award to all our xda developer team who are working so much...Respect to all of them...

Could some one guide me to instructions as to how do I load this mac theme on my ppc. I am a noob and appreciate all help I can get to get it.
i really like this wisbar theme, i always loved the original wisbar on my xda11i but have never really liked the new version,
the only downside is, i mainly use my pda in landscape mode, is there any way to stop the start menu icon doubling up like it does? and its a shame the wallpaper doesnt match when in that mode, also how have u got that shutdown button down at the bottom?

Ok, so I've been fairly busy today, not cooking, but sorting out some apps for WM6, like the good old album app from WM2003SE and not that crappy 'Pictures and Videos' rubbish that we got stuck with from WM5 onwards...
But I digress...

Theres still a few issues regard the text which needs to be coloured white as you can see. So if you are a colour scheme XML GURU then PLEASE ocntact me! also if you are any good with photoshop and you would also like to contribute, please contact me as I reckon those standard WM6 volume/alert icons could do with some sprucing up I'll also ahve a go at skinning the comm manager, tried once today and it wouldn't launch

I prefer grey/blue over black, but still you made a good job
it looks great Phil! love it!
please input that to Beta II. but of course don't forget the default ones. (green, guava, blue, etc.)
when will the Beta II be released? thanks for your job!
I don't think it's a good idea to change the default themes, especially with black themes. there are many ppl who likes light color themes.
you can release the theme separately, so just the interested person to install it.
I like blue themes like the attached one :d

I dont think Phil is replacing the default themes. He is just developing this black theme as an extra add-on.
This theme will be an optional extra, unfortunately I can't post it yet for a number of reasons:
1. The colour of the text still needs to be fixed in a number of places
2. Some registry keys keep reseting which makes some text unreadable
Also I've tried installing this theme on andot's ROM but it locks up the device after install and then will no longer display splash screens, think this is something to do with the way his ROM handles the splash screens (oemsplash.dll), however if andot wants to port it to his ROM or help me fix these issues then he is more than welcome
@andot - I'll send you the cab tomorrow when your online in the morning to test, I don't have access to it atm...
I will release the windows media player skin tomorrow as a separate download

For the Earpiece volume and the Info , the white circle is very bad , and the text should be in white to be lisible.i'll waiting for the next release maybe a member of www.nectun.com or http://www.mlab.name can release a good skin.

actualy i designed that one, its a combination of a few diffrent home screens i found with some modifications...i could post if if you want but it needs facade, smartmonitor and fizz traveler and at the bottom, is smart toolkit, it gives a nice start menu, tasks manager, screen capture and copy paste functions. if youre intrested, ill post a link

funny, i think that wmp11 skin is the first ever wmp skin i had ever made. (in this case it was an edit to a bugged one). but it looks like one of my early edits, the one with bugs still lol.
is it?
also, is this just going to be a homescreen for us to download or are you making it into a new rom? im hoping its just a homescreen.
btw just 1 suggestion, make sure to have white words. i noticed on some pics it was black on black.
Got the inspiration from your first WMP11 theme mikeeey, unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere so I took the QVGA Vista Portable edition pocket PC WMP skin and rejigged the background with an image similar to your early WMP11 theme and cab'd it up
I agree that pyrorob's custom homescreen would probably look awesome in black...
The black text on black background is being worked on btw
Phil
Hi,
I am about to embark upon changing the menu icons and screen touches that leave the green behind. Before I do I wanted to see if anyone had already successfully changed this FULLY rather than on just one screen and also one that works on the topaz. Any I have found so far either do not work or do a partial job.
Obviously if someone has done it already I would be keen to ive their work a try as this will be my first modding task and admittedly think I am starting at the deep end.
Also any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. If my work is succesful I will of course attempt to upload it for others to use
Thanks
CFC GUI is your friend, you can extract and replace all the graphics using it.
Which one(s) have you found that worked partially?
I have spent hours trawling through the various forums to find snippets from here and there, but in all honesty I'm a bit lost.
I found a 'T-Mobile' file which looks nice, but I have yet to try it on the device (because it hasn't arrived yet )
I will definitely be wanting to change away from green, so if/when you figure it out then please do let us (me) know how. Blue or grey is my target.
Here you go, green to blue with the attached CAB.
[UPDATE]
Changed all non-TF3D green highlighting/switches/buttons to blue also!
Due to CAB size, I've put it on my RapidShare account, no need to wait for download as it's been made a TrafficShare download.
Have left original version available for download for those who only want TF3D modified.

Enjoy!
Fantastic! Thanks hoosbude.
Sadly my device didn't arrive today as expected, so I'm still waiting. However, I shall look forward to trying your CAB and seeing what type of 'blue' you've provided.
Can you explain how you did it? What tool(s) did you use, and is it easy to do? Mostly I'm quite happy with TF3D, but I'd like to learn how to mess with the colours a little.
Yes, I have read and searched, and I got as far as finding Max TF3D Theme Maker - it looks a bit too much for what I need. Is this the way to go, or is there a simpler solution?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the cab. I will give it a try. admittedly I put the project on hold due to a cosmetic issue my phone picked up similar to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522813
So my motivation to start any projects will be gone until I either get a replacement or repair. Hopefully your cab will do the trick

I used CFC GUI to extract the graphics then used Photoshop to change the hue, then used CFC GUI to re-implant the graphics to the original format then made the CAB. It took me about 40mins to do from start to finish (I did alter 47 files! also I made the boot picture blue too as a bonus!!)
Cab appears to work great only thing i have noticed that is not blended into the blue touch colour scheme is the communications tab of the settings menu which still has the green slide bars. If you fancy changing that it would be perfect.
To answer the question somebody asked earlier about other similar things i tried there is one made by lexirae (cant find the link now) that removes the touch coloured panel on the front screen with a transparent touch, There was also one made for the globe but think it was for a cooked rom as it made my opera browser inoperable and a hard reset was needed.

Yeah I noticed that also, the graphics for that were not shown by CFC GUI so that's why they were missed!
If anyone knows which files they are in I'd be much obliged (although I will google it later when I have the time)
Think the file you are looking for is 471b0a55_manilla
It is labelled in CFC-GUI under settings SWITCH_ON
If I am incorrect and you have already looked at this then apologies

hoosbude, I worship you...
My TD2 arrived today and I'm loving it - for a device so seemingly similar to my Xperia, the Xperience is completely transformed...slick, quick and much more user friendly.
I love what you've done with the blue highlighting, which really sets everything off nicely (well, nearly everything - there's still the odd rogue greenie around such as the HTC task manager highlights, but I'll live with that).
Thanks so much, you don't know how much happier this makes me with my new toy.

Yes, thanks. I discovered that by accident (I installed my old Xperia black theme, but then needed to delete it so I changed to HTC black in preparation and noticed that this worked as well so I don't need my Xperia them at all).
Looking good.
Really a great job !!!
I install your cab and my phone is very nice now, thanxxxxxxxxxxxxx !!!
The last "green touch", in my phone is on the screen where it ask for sim code (just after booting)... The "enter" case is still green... Could you do anything for that ?
If needed I can send you a picture of the screen, but, for the moment, I haven't any camera in my desk do that !
is there a lightgray version of this?
Folks, this taskbar is hopelessly outdated, and you probably run into troubles using it with latest versions of WM 6.5.x.
You need to understand that all custom taskbars replace system dll's, because they contain the icons. On the other hand, replacing outdated system dll's with newer OS releases could lead to unexpected results.
Catching up with latest OS releases is a horribly time-consuming task, and i'm sorry i cant keep pace with ongoing developments on WM 6.5, especially since i jumped ship to Android recently.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Brians taskbar gfreek ed. reworked for WM 6.5.x
This taskbar will NOT work with WM 6.5 (without the x). If your windows start button is bottom left, its WM 6.5.x. If its top left, your with WM 6.5.
All artwork is derived from brians taskbar gfreek edition 5b/F
Credits & thanks to:
- gfreek for his amazing work - this was always one of the first cabs for me to install after flashing a new ROM
- NhatPG for Windows Logo
- bloodik for HTC Logo
Original thread can be found here
Tested with Miri's 6.5.x v1.5 (23518/28205) for Leo (HD2), HTC volume and WM dropdown bar working fine.
Certs are included, no need to install anything else.
WARNING: i did not test it on any other device/ROM, though i assume it will work. Feel free to try it out, but make sure you have a valid backup just in case something goes wrong.
UPDATE: start button updated, made 2nd version with HTC logo.

Thanks for your kind offer, i'm still a noob with these things but willing to learn
And again, thanks for your great work, its a must-have on any device i've owned and will own in the future. Hope you're ok with me using your art.
BTW while doing this i've written a little tool to ease the task of replacing icons within dll's, if you're interested PM me Maybe i'll publish some kind of "taskbar composer" for people who like to assemble their personal taskbars
Hello
thank you gfreek for your great task bar which we used it for long time and left it with 6.5.3
and thank you 6Fg8 for making us go back to it once again

I'd LOVE such a taskbar composer, indeed, I'd quite like some kind of application which takes all the elements that are on a phone and allows one to mod them.
I often look at my phone and would love to tweak stuff on it but have no clue how to. I'm left wandering around the net to see if someone with the skills to change stuff has had the same ideas as me.
<pulls out worlds smallest violin and starts playing to myself>
Thank you!!!
Sound profile icon didn't work for me!!
I like it so much. The drop down WM menu is worked but the sound icon didn't changed into the silent and vibrate profile.

Interesting ... works 100% fine here. What ROM are you using?
If you go to Settings/Sounds and change to vibrate or silent the icon don't change and I'm on Artemis V2.8 ROM, but if you press the volume button and cjange the profile there it works perfectly.
This happens with others taskbars too.
Thanx...! Nice..!

I see. Now this taskbar is made for HD2 aka Leo; it includes HtcVolume.dll which works on that device, but i dont know how it behaves on any other. So it may or may not or may partially work on other devices, but thats beyond my knowledge.
Hi 6Fg8,
i would like to try on your cab for my Leo stock ROM 1.66. But i already have DJC Taskbar installed. I had no way to uninstalled from default remove program after several attempts. I think i would like to install yours without uninstalled first the DJC, do you see any problem? I hate hard reset cause too troublesome to reinstall back application, please advise me....
Hello, before testing on 1.66 original rom , how is the dialer pin ? Modified or like the original ? Thanks .
I've found this with original dialer pin : http://www.pdaphone.ch/forum/viewtopic.php?p=32748

This is for WM 6.5.x and your stock ROM is definitely not that build. Sorry i cant predict what will happen. Best you can do is have a backup handy, mentally prepare for a hardreset and drink a glass of champaigne if everything works fine

have fun, miRO
Thatd great miro! i will test it out when i have my WiFi connection fixed to dowload it. atm i only have 2g and downloads are too slow... Thanks! In the other thread, Kevin said it bricked his device, i think it is because it is designed only for 6.1/6.5 roms and not 6.5.3. i will test on your miROM14 later, cheers!
p.s - is this uninstallable? thanks! also how did you make it? it would be nice to know

it works on my miROM1_beta_Sense2019 os 6.5.5. very well . i dont know why kevin has problem with it . i think work on all roms. AND yes you can allways remove! use 22 MB Storage.
for the best: before install the cab, disable all items in home menu, install the cab. no restart needed. go back in home settings, toshiba menu is selected. press ok and toshiStripes starts!
Thanks! will give it a shot when my WiFi is back again! :/
Finally got it! works great on your miROM14 thanks alot! your very smart to make a cab out of this.. Just out of interest, which files did you use? You could also post this in the Windows Mobile Development Forum.. Many, many peoplehave wanted this on their non-htc phones. they would be so happy, and your thanks meter will rocket up
cheers!

Assuming you meant me (?) - no, hadn't had any issues. But have not tried the stripes since very first encounter with the TG, since which I've been running debranded completely. I have looked at the multitude of files involve in the stripes UI, but I'm afraid purely from the persepective of stripping out rather than adding back.

Sorry! I meant to say that it was the recent new member kevinchr not kevinpwhite, who had been requesting all l developers to create a cab file got him.
I personally like this UI as my alternate UI when I'm not using TouchFlo because its a nice change
Miro
With 6.5.5 the red and green phone buttons are obscured and the blinds to not "turn". The Tosh interface uses a lot of memory too

I am not absolutely certain, but recall some commments a while back that the blinds only rotated on the original 6.1 edition and Toshiba made some changes with the 6.5 update which stopped that, presumably due reported problems...

Yes i think they removed it because many people found that it was slow and unresponsive in early ROMs. But it was still slow anyway. they were too lazy to rewrite the software.

really 3D flipp effect! cab in first post
Awesome thanks for pointing this out in the other thread! i'll try it later!
Miro I can confirm that this cab works flawlessly on ANY rom!!
It's got the 3D animation too and waaaaaaaaaay more smoother than original 6.1 roms.
I will advice anyone who wants to use this cab, to use on new kitchen's production. This extra RAM is very well used by this stripes menu!
I am LOVING it!! It's fresher than sense UI and I think if toshiba din't kill it with little ram and clunked up 6.1 OS, then original UI was attractive at least for the first sight. I've already been asked 'what phone is it' - 4 times after I installed this cab
Only few huge request are:
Can you please look into trying to see if you can create something like 'StripeMenu Editor'?
An app that can edit i.e. give more options that can be added/removed to stripes?
An app that can let us have more than 3 colour stripe combinations?
An app that can let us remove the stripes we want to remove i.e. the Orange world stripe can be removed? - something like 'titanium editor' apps.
I know it's very big ask especially from someone who is crap at developing, but I think there is potential to lift this UI with that little app.
I've already given you all 5 thnx again but will flow more towards your way
