hi,
i will buy soon my polaris, and i got a so simple question: can a 8Go uSD works on it ?
regards !
And I got a so simple answer: Yes, it works.
I have one mini-SD 8 GB, working properly for me...

That is strange. Is "mini-SD" a typing mistake in your post? I thought that the Polaris only supported Micro SD.
- Julian
It only supports micro-SD. Must be a typo...
Idd only microSD supported, and officially, only 4GB is supported I remember.
It even supports 16GB. It's just because 8GB and 16GB didn't exist when they made the official specs.
And where do you find microSDHC cards of that capacity? (Perferrable in Belgium but UK is ok)

Yes. Currently the biggest MicroSD card is 8GB. Sandisk announced a 16GB microSD at last week's CES expo in Las Vegas and that is due to ship in June but price is not yet known.
The SD 2.0 standard supports addressing for up to 32GB so I would guess that in about June 2009 there will be 32GB microSD cards available (based on capacity doubling every 12 months). Beyond that we will need to hope that a new SD standard comes out to support > 32GB addressing.
- Julian
But (at the moment) 8 GB are enough for me..

On the transcend website it says sdhc can go to 32G. but then they say they only sell them at 4GB. Will they get any bigger soon?
And will the trinity be able to support them?
What is the advantage of buying the 4GB mini-sdhc over a regular minisd 4GB?
thanks

Of course they will, they always do. There is already 8gb SD SDHC cards available from several manufacturers. It is only a matter of time for them to come available in miniSD. The only problem is that your device must accept a larger card. http://www.pma-show.com/0239/kingston/storage/8gb_sdhc_card/
so if it a matter of a registry tweak or what to make a bigger card work?
Oh baby, Toshiba just announced that they have made some 16GB And 32GB SDHC cards (class 4)! And 8GB MicroSDHC. Check out this link:
http://blog.scifi.com/tech/archives/2007/08/23/toshiba_unleash_1.html
Imagine using one of these with the new ROM by Laurentius, Beast & Mamaich!!!
My mobile phone would have a lot more storage space than even my laptop (20GB), that is crazy
Now what happens next for the SD format? Because the limit for SDHC cards is 32GB, so already we have reached the limit of this "new" specification
available januari
$700 for 32gb
$350 for 16gb
theoretical limit is 2048gb by the way, not 32gb
I think a 2 Terrabyte SDHC card won't be possible until year 2009+
hahaha.. that's just insane..
But a 4Gb was also thought as insane back in early 2000
damn.. technology is insane..
Wow, a) just in time to force 8gb SDHC cards price down for this new rom . b) probably want one because I can... 32GB makes for a neat storage of music and turns PDA's into useful USB HDD's now.
Sweet all round

SDHC Cards in Shadow
I spoke with an HTC Rep today who told me that there is a software update coming out in January that will not only fix the "Phantom Alarm" issue but will make the Shadow capable of usig the 8GB SDHC cards.
I currently have a sandisk 6gb card in my shadow. I believe it supports either up to 8 or 16gb sdhc cards.
Hi,
Although this question has been put up many a times but I don't see a conclusion in any of the threads. Can someone give a finite answer to the SDHC support in Wizard? (Y/N)?
Did anyone try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345038&highlight=sdhc+patch
Thanks.
WIZA200 (HT622)
TNT 1933 ROM
Yep, tried it and it didn't work. I couldn't even read my existing 2Gb SD card
There seems to be conflicting information - some say it is just a driver issue, others say the Wizard's hardware can't support SDHC. I have searched and searched and it does seem that either the Wizard's hardware can't support SDHC or there simply hasn't been a driver written that supports it. Either way it doesn't work currently.

Depends from what you really want to achieve bottom line .. I have a 4GB card working perfectly smooth. Not sure, but I guess it is not a SDHC card. So is it really the SDHC you are looking for, or rather "just" a large sized card?
If you want I could check for the supplier.

Are you talking about 4GB mini SD Card? where did you get it? I am not talking about SDHC. I got 4GB HCSD but I never have a change to make it works with my Wizard.
Yes, bottomline is that 2 GB is not enough and I am seriously looking for high capacity cards. I came to know that all the cards above 2GB are SDHC (as on sandisk and sdcard.org websites).
If you know of a 4 GB card that is non-SDHC and is working well, please do send me the supplier details. I am based in India so need to check if he can ship overseas.
Thanks.
Right now I have an authentic 4 GB SDHC card from Transcend.
Till now I have tried all the patches/drivers available here for SDHC but couldn't make this to work. I even checked after formatting the the card in FAT16.

Here is the one I bought. It is NOT SDHC, but has a 4 GB size. Unfortunately this link is to a German eBay shop:

Sorry for the huge link, I dont even know if it will work so lemme know. If it does, all of that guy's 4gb mini-SD cards are non HC. From what I have read, "Topram mini-SD 4gb" cards from a certain batch are non HC and work with the wizard. I ordered one from the person in the link and it has been working fine so far. Hope this helps.
Is there a difference between the cards themselves or is it just the formatting?

the formatting and the hardware logic is different. there are differences internally, but externally they appear to be the same.

Not at all: http://www.androidnz.net/2011/09/sandisk-64gb-micro-sdxc-cards-confirmed.html
This is actually a really good question
acording to this it should be able to use it up until 32 GB
and for bigger ones it need to use exFAT.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDXC#SDXC
Linux systems that support SDHC cards also support SDXC cards, as long as the card contains a compatible file system. A proprietary driver is available for the exFAT file system.

There shouldn't be any problem with 64gb if it works on other phones. I doubt that it's hardware related.
Almost all the phones have the same specification about maximum sd size, and it's 32gb. The 64gb is new and the specification on the phones was written when the 64gb wasn't available.

Does it support an exFAT filesystem with the O3D or have you got your 64gb card with a FAT32 format?

I had an 64GB card, but my P920 literally ignored it. So no 64GB for me.
So now I have my old 8GB back, and its working.
But why on earth would somebody need 64GB?
The sound quality is even worse than my 10 bucks mp3 player

Because 32GB is not enough.I have 46 games on mine sgs 2, only this games need over 30GB free. Were I could put rest stuff like movies, films,mp3, maps for navigation etc.? Some free space for my own video, taken pictures.now I have got 80GB and only 6GB free memory. That the reason that I change lg optimus 3d on sgs 2. 40 GB is not enought
Sent from Samsung Galaxy S 2 (80GB)
Then the boys 3d optimus quietly supports 64gb?
no no no!!
look here!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038039
And this guy "3waygeek" blogged this further:
Well, I just got the SanDisk 64GB microSDXC. As I predicted, the SGS2 couldn't read the exFAT filesystem the card is formatted with. However, the SGS2 did format it as FAT32, and seems to accept it as a valid device.
I'm now copying my old 32GB card to the new 64GB, using standard USB microSDHC card readers on a Windows box. But before I did that, I ran SDTools on the microSDXC. Read speed 18 MB/s, write speed 6.6 MB/s; see the attached snapshot. Those numbers suggest to me that the device is the bottleneck, not the card.
So, aside from the lack of exFAT support, it looks like microSDXC will work. it works! just let ur phone RE-Format it to fat-32
hmm
I saw a post saying that 64gb had worked properly on LG-SU760, but I don't have any idea what sdxc is actually working well on Op3d...
It might depend on sd company.
see here it is available for Rs. 3455/- only!!!

UHS Support
hi everyone,
Im new to the forum and my first post. And sorry to interupt on a another thread coz I thought ths wil be just a simple thing to know.
Im intend to buy couple of sandisk mobile ultra 16gb UHS-1,
I knw that uhs stand for ultra high speed, bt don't know weather these cards are technologically different than normal sd cards.
So I would like to know would these work on our O3D?? Thank you.
