I belong to India and the networks here provide us with the channel 50 broadcast, which would mean I could get the cellsite name displayed on today screen. My prophet runs on Shadow touch edition (The best ROM I've had till date). I use Batterystatus to display this but not often since every time I get a new update on cellsite my phone wakes up and I ended up dialing a number or executing a program, since I have the HTC homeplugin on my today screen. I've also noticed that the Homeplug is able to display the network name on the left corner. Is there any Reg tweak by which I can have the homeplug display my cellsite instead of the network's name? Good day

Another question..!
Second to the top bar, I have phoneAlarm running. Is it possible to 'freeze' this (or any other) plugin whilst the rest scroll as normal?
Something similar to 'freeze panes'; 'split window' in MS Excel/Word
Thanks
Generally no. But check out OdeeanRDeathshead's plugin. It's a genius solution for his plugin.
Others - I have other solutions in mind, but not for release yet

It could probably be done. I think the easiest way would be to keep track of scrolling of the today window and force an order change in the items to keep the one of interest on top. The work would come when trying to avoid sudden movements after the change and automaticly scrolling the window back to the position you had it when the today screen resets.
Or perhaps someone could find out how the date stays stationary?
personaly I think that microsoft did the wrong thing allowing scrolling. The purpose of the today screen is to have something always visible not to let it go out of sight.
Yes, I was thinking of something like how the date line was acheived to be static...
In fact, for me, having a particular today plugin static would be because I have to scroll to view my full Today screen. Stuff like appointments and tasks are unpredictable in size- therefore changing the length of that particular plugin and of course shifting anything underneath out of site.
I've just received a new Vox and am trying out Goodlink on it. It doesn't seem to suit the phone very well!
I've been using a Hermes and really like the Vox's form factor when compared to it. However, I was thinking that the screens would be similar as they both have the same resolution (240x320), but the fonts are much larger on the Vox and much less info is displayed.
So Goodlink displays fewer lines than on the Hermes' display and there's some weird corruption at the bottom of every screen. Also, in some of the preferences screens, I can't work out how to save anything as the OK button is obscured by the battery and signal strength indicators.
Lastly there are no shortcuts to the Goodlink applications on the home screen or in the Programs folder. The only way to start it is via File Explorer.
Anyone had more luck than me?
Ok I realised what I had done....I restored my Goodlink install from my Hermes, so had the wrong version installed! Oops
Anyway, it all seems to work well now
Just flashed to v3 and a couple of questions.
Firstly how do you set the HTC Home clock to 24hr, there doesn't appear to be a setting in regional settings for this.
Secondly ist here a way to bring up the program close icon at the top of the screen, I think it used to be an "x"
Thanks in advance
the 'x' was wktask if memory serves me correctly.
u will need to d/l the cab.
there is no option for me to set my alarm to go off in the evening. is only available in the morning
wktask isn't the answer. I'm talking about the icon which came with the original rom and sat in the top right corner, 3 horizontal bars with a triange at the bottom. Gave you the option to close a program by holding x on the program name. The Dutty Rom I'm using doesn't have one.

Im not real sure of the name, but i remember the one you refer to. I wasn't the duttythroy task manager was it?
The duttythroy task manager puts an icon at the bottom, but you have to run it to start. In the original rom the icon at the top started as default. I'm wondering if updating to the latest version of HTC Home will sort this out.
24hrs
You can get 24hr time by setting the Time Style in Regional Settings to
HH:mm:ss
The program the original poster is looking for is HTC Task Manager.
No offence guys but based on some of th questions i see (like time and alarm setting), some of you should not be flashing roms just yet. Best to first know the basics (these types of things should be in your manual i think)
None taken but as I've just been informed the HH:mm:ss didn't appear in the drop down. It was only after forcing it that it appeared. The flash has been a success but some things are differnt from the original. That's what forums are for or last time I looked anyhow. Here's the answer off a more helpful member
"Now that you mention it, I think I remember my 'regional settings' being dorked up initially when I loaded one of Dutty's ROMs. Try fiddling with the setting on the first page which sets all the other settings. Save it, leave, come back in, and then go to the time tab and then click on Time Style. When the list of available selections pops up, keep pressing down (it only shows 2 available, but more are there, trust me). Eventually select the one that has HH:mm:ss. That is the 24 hour one that I've used."
So based on the fact it was HTC Task manager, is this something that doesn't exist with Dutty's Rom or something you can enable?
I am also looking for the location in the menus to bring up this HTC Task manager in dutty's ROMs. I remember finding the menu for it in V3 but I can't seem to find it in V4.
This worked for me.... soft-reset and it should appear
Hi all,
I have an O2 Orbit II and I can't get appointments to show on the Today screen.
In the full user manual it says to go to start > Settings > Personal > Today, Itams tab, then select Calendar and tap Options.
The problem I have is there is no Calendar in the list, there is an O2 Calendar which is ticked but there are no options for it.
Can any of you help me to get appointments to show on the Today screen.
Thanks.
I have the XDA Orbit 2 and I do have a calendar option in my Items tab. Strange.
I don't use it as I use S2U2 (the iPhone looking "slide to unlock" screen) to show my upcoming appointments when I turn the screen on.
Perhaps try that? It's a great app and it's free.
Hi,
I have an orbit 2 and swear by the freeware calendar plus :
http://www.mohairsofa.com/Default.aspx/document/10
it's the nuts and is a straight replacement for the standard calendar plugin !
p.s. the statement of "it's the nuts!" is my opinion only.
I don't use it as I use S2U2 (the iPhone looking "slide to unlock" screen) to show my upcoming appointments when I turn the screen on.
I have installed S2U2. But the thing is even though the screen is locked touch flow is still on which bugs me a lot. And more over when i am getting a call, only the number is getting displayed and not the name of the person. Any where I need to make some configuration changes
Hmm... just tried mine, and yes touchflo is on when the screen is on, but I'd never noticed. Out of interest why does it bother you, you're not likely to accidently activate it, or at least I haven't so far.
I hear a lot about people not getting caller ID, but mine's always worked well. Are your contacts on the phone or SIM card? And are you absolutely sure you haven't got the same number in there twice anywhere?
Finally, are you using version 0.99c?
Hi
I'm not particulary impressed with the TouchFlo interface. It seems very rough around the edges, for example when you reply to a text message you get an HTC message thread, but if you select to send a new text message the TouchFlo dumps you back to the standard SMS message screen of Windows Mobile. The HTC message thread view becomes incredibly slow when you have a lot of text messages for a single contact as it wants to load all of them, not just the most recent, which seems bad programming.
It also consumes CPU cycles constantly even when not doing anything which all adds to battery drain.
So I've started to try and get rid of it.
This is what I have done so far:
1) In the Today settings unticked TouchFlo, this gets rid of a chunk of it.
2) Disabled the notification service, this allows clicking on the individual icons for battery etc and you go straight to those settings/information dialogs.
3) Disabled the EnlargeStartMenu setting so the start menu is the normal font size.
Things still remain, and I would like to know how to get rid of them if anyone knows:
a) The TouchFlo style volume control still appears, I want the original back which allows setting individual volumes for system and ringing.
b) Dialogue boxes still have the TouchFlo styling, how do I revert back to.
I've also been able to add HTC Home and all in all the device is so much better and faster.
Regards
Phil
maybe you can try one of those "manila-free" roms that are starting to appear in the roms section.
HTC has changed a lot in the Operating system, that's why you can't simply turn off those "skins" like in volume control, I think... At least I didn't find until now a way to get rid of it.
Wait for a simple 6.1 ROM without touchflo and its touchflonettes (lol)
How did you disable the notification services?
Hi
How did you disable the notification services?

I used 'Task Manager 3.1' to edit the registry, under the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services is an entry for 'NOTIFICATION MANAGER', I changed the DLL key value to 'xNotificationManager.dll' so it wouldn't load, and this removed it.

You can disable 'single volume' and get the old style in TF Settings tab > Sound.
I'm with you buddy - see my thread on "Getting Rid of TF3D" for more info.
Loving my TD2 without TF3D - it's been a few weeks now and there's absolutely nothing I miss about TF3D. The TodayAgenda plugin is....just.....awesome.

I've sorted this out, it was some software loading when the device starts to skin the volume control.
The key is at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Services\HTCVolume
to stop it loading I renamed the DLL under the key 'Module' so it couldn't be loaded and this now keeps the standard volume controls.

i know this is an old thread, but htc has two volume controls as well:
change HKLM\software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\ SimpleMode to 0
Just deactivate it from the today settings and you should be fine, it doesn't take up that much space.
EDIT: I just went back to WM6.1 from a cooked WM6.5 ROM, I'm going to buy SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 because I think it's more indepth than TF3D is even tho I love TF3D.
Save yourself the trouble of MBS 3.5 - it's the most bugged piece of junk i have ever seen, and in fact i have asked for my money back under their 30 days refund policy
TF3D is WAAAY better than MBS3.5 - and MBS 3.0 is waaay better than 3.5

Use my TD2 Tools app, its in a sticky thread at the top of the topaz general forum.
It has options to disable htc notification manager and htc volume control as well as options to bring back the small start menu! you didnt look very far guys! lol
