Quick Menu 2.7 error - General Topics

Hi, I have just installed QM 2.7.cab everytime I do a soft reset a error message comes up stating " LOAD QMENUBTN.DLL FAILED" "PLEASE RESETUP AND TRY AGAIN"
i have tried install/uninstall etc no help can someone please help, to solve this thanks .

Quick menu
Open the file location and check to see if that exact file is in there. I had the same issue. Turned out that when I used active sync it didn't copy that file. Open explore on the active sync popup and navigate to where you have quick menu installed and paste a new copy of the entire folder in it's place. Soft reset and you should be up and running.

How to skip the programs listd in start up folder?

Hi all,
Due to an oversight, I copied a program named "LVMTOPBAT.EXE" into the start up folder, after soft reset, I can't delete this program from the start up folder. A system message shown that "the program is running".
I have tried to use memmaid to disable this program but in vain.
Any other ways to skip running programs in the start up folder and enter into Today directly?
rename it to exe.old
restart and delete it

Can't launch .cab files

Hi, I've tried to install numerous .cab files on my HTC touch diamond but they all fail to start up. When I click on the cab file in the File Explorer it nothing happens and I get no error messages. I've only installed one app successfully some time ago and it was the first app I ever installed on this phone (Landscape utility for the phone). I got this phone a week ago and has the ROM version 1.10.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
It’s most likely that you’ve installed a program at some stage which has ‘hijacked’ the association for CAB files, and not restored it when the program was uninstalled. All you need to do is restore the default file association, and you’ll be able to open them again.
* Using Windows Explorer (or My Computer) choose ‘Folder Options’ from the View menu.
* Locate Cabinet in the registered file types list, select it, and click on ‘Edit’.
* Select ‘Open’ then click on ‘Edit’ again.
* Locate the box titled ‘Application used to perform action’. Enter the following
Explorer.exe /root,{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262},%1
* Click on ‘OK’ to close all the dialogues, and you should be able to open your Cabinet files as before.

problem playing videos HELP

Hi, today i tried to play a video on my HTC Mega, using the default player and I get this error message:
Expression: NULL !=
m_pTimeLineManager
File:
c:\sds\65cm2tmp\private\digitalmedia\wmp\xplatme\clctplayer\collectionplayer.cpp
Line:942
Please please help, i dont want to hard reset my phone again
please have a look at thread 5511316 - sorry but I'm not allowed to post a link.
"I finally found out what causes that error message. It seem if one apply the Mp3 Ringtone Setting Hotfix (_HTC Touch2_MEG02949.exe), this error message will appear. I found this the hard way (by keep on hard reset my Touch2 and applying the fix"
I tried with deinstalling the hotfix, but this will not work - so I unpacked the hotfix exe file and searched the _setup.xml for changes. The hotfix installed a new wmcore.dll - so I renamed this file in Windows directory and the device restart will restore the original DLL - after this the internal media player worked well again without any error messages

[Resolved] [A] "Unable to Scan for Networks" SOLUTION - WITHOUT ROOTING

**** SOLUTION - WITHOUT ROOTING *****
I searched many forms to solve the "Unable to scan network" issue. All explained how to do it after rooting and I did not want to root my phone.
Yesterday, while playing with the phone and SDK, I could repair it by deleting "bcm_supp.conf" file. This is what I did:
1. Install the SDK -> developer dot android dot com slash sdk slash index.html
(make sure the <SDK>/tools path is added to the windows path variable. My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> System variable -> add the SDK path at the end of Path variable )
2. On your phone, please enable (tick mark) "USB debugging" under "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Development"
3. Connect your phone using USB to PC/Laptop. Close phone manager application if it comes up on the PC.
4. Run "ddms.bat" from <SDK>/tools directory. The DDMS application will come up and it should readily connect to your phone. (in the main screen, under Name, you should find the phone ID and SW ver. no.)
5. Go to menu Device -> File Explorer. New window will come up.
6. Here go to data -> wifi directory. You will see a file bcm_supp.conf.
7. Though it is not possible to read this file, you should be able to delete it. (at least I could delete it). You can delete the file by selecting it and then pressing red "-" on top left of the window.
8. Now close the DDMS and disconnect the USB. Enable WiFi and scan for networks. The bcm_supp.conf file will get created and you should be able to find the networks.
Please note:
1. Do this on your own risk.
2. All your previous WiFi settings are gone as you delete the file.
3. If you don't know how to install SDK, just google, you will find many forms explaining.
4. I tried to delete the file from "Terminal Emulator", but it did not allow. I guess DDMS has some special permissions.

I'm sort of a newbie in this and I have that problem with my Mytouch 4G, where it says it is "unable to scan for networks". I've tried everything and even this seems complicated (with my lack of know-how). So, if you could repost this as if you were explaining it to a five-year-old or perhaps make a video showing the process, I would readily appreciate that. But I really need help because this issue is very frustrating.
Please Help!
hey guys, so i got to step 6 and im stuck there, im unable to to open data file, is there a solution for that ?
That is a configuration file, not to mention that it is a system file. You should NOT modify this file unless you know what you are doing. These files are used to configure application(s) settings and server processes.

message center problem

hi. my phone message center is grey out. i fixed that after searching and doing root explorer and xml file edit and placing it back into it directory. it work w/o reboot. However the problem is that when i do reboot or restart my phone, the message center goes back to blank and grey out still. How do i keep the xml that i edited from re-fixing itself? it delete my message center number that i put in. everytime it boot up. Running on Nero v5 fwiw. much appreciated.
Hi,
Initially, the simple solution:
Messaging -> Settings -> Restore default settings
I’m sure the Message Center was no longer grayed. But if the problem doesn’t get fixed then you have to edit the internal xml file.
You need a XML editor to fix this issue. For testing and verification of the file, I recommend Visual Studio as an editor. I recommend “Root Explorer” to browse the phone, and then browse to the file:
“/dbdata/databases/com.android.mms/shared_prefs/com.android.mms_preferences.xml”
Copy it into “sdcard” so you can see/edit it from your PC.
Find the key named "pref_key_manage_smsc_address" (at the bottom)
Change it from Not Set to 11111111111 (write the correct number of your network provider)
Then copy this file again on the “sdcard” to transfer it in the mobile.
It is better to take a backup of the original file and then overwrite the new editable file in the mobile.
I'm sorry but i did the about steps already. the 2nd step work but as i said in my post. the message center number get wipe and reset to "no set" after a reboot. the phone rewrite the xml i replace or something when i reboot my phone.
