Error [222]: Device Not Responding - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hello Everyone I'm a newbie in Pocket PCs. Recently I have bought a Qtek 9000 with WM5 on it and of course decided to upgrade. I have spent few hours reading the wiki and looking through the corresponding threads. Finally I decided that it's time to flash.
Since I'm using windows Vista, I followed these tutorials and updated Vista's drivers:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001. Everything's good so far.
Now, according to the tutorial http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_ROM_Upgrade, I have to unlock my Qtek first. The unlock method is given here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435. And here comes the problem: button's 1.05 ROM (CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE) displays the screen saying "ERROR [222]: DEVICE NOT RESPONDING". However, Windows Mobile Device Center is connected to the PDA and can transfer contacts/files without a problem.
I tried to do a hard reset but final result is the same - ERROR [222]. Tried Windows Xp - no luck. Please help!!!!

Good luck!

Karhoe,
Let me congratulate you on this fine guide. However, you might want to put in some edits (since this guide is focussed more towards noobs):
The process is entirely possible in Windows Vista as well. I upgraded my phone multiple times to different builds on a Vista system without any problems. You need to follow this guide
Step 1) Please add QTEK 8300 and Imate SP5m to the list of Torando devices.
Step 2) Please add WMDC for Windows Vista users so that some noob user doesnt try to install AS 4.5 on Windows Vista.
I agree though that SPV-services wont run on Windows Vista. Overall, a fantastic guide ! Great job !

Hello
Great Guide, I am a newbie i have just been given 3 of these phones 2 o2 xda iq's and a vodafone v1240, I am having problems i have downloaded the teratermpro got the o2 xda iq in bootload mode and run the program and select usb and then i comes up can't open?? any ideas. I am running vista not xp if that helps.
Cheers
Brogusblue
It runs perfectly on XP, you will have difficulty using Vista, first of all, Super CID can only be performed on an XP system
Seems I have problems on step 9. I see bootloader skin and activate usb connection but it doesn't sync! the phone is not visible. help
no problem. i turned the phone off and turn it onholding the camera button. now the process in step 10 starts!
Hi,
I get that Tera Term error msg as well. "Cannot open @£$€" (USB). Running Vista. My phone is already SuperCID.
When connecting the USB (and entering bootloader-mode), Vista tries to install drivers for the device but cannot find them, maybe that's the problem?
Any clues?
/E
Maybe it doesn't work that well in Vista as I have said.
Try to do it on an XP system
I've passed 8 steps without a single error, enabled ActiveSync USB connection, but ActiveSync doesn't recognize my device whatever I do, unlike Katik wrote 2 posts above!!!
Now I just see the boot screen, with "USB" letters on the bottom if I plug in the USB cable.
Several times I tried to disable ActiveSync USB and run ttermpro.exe -- "info 2" works OK, but no luck after I enable it again.
Please tell me how can I establish ActiveSync connection??
The reverse process of disabling the USB connection
What process? I just check/uncheck "allow USB connection" in ActiveSync, do I have to do something else after I made "format BINFS", typed "ResetDevice" and enabled USB in ActiveSync??
I tried to connect/disconnect the cable, turn the defice on/off (pressing the Camera key or not), nothing helps so far...
Had no luck under XP after some tussle and reinstallation of ActiveSync, but finally succeeded under Vista...
Kinda exciting experience I must say.
The ROM is cool!
Congratz, welcome to the club
I can not for the life of me get this working!
Tried unlocking the C600 I bought off eBay both via the official Orange Developers thing (My IMEI is not recognised) and using the SDA Unlocker tool.
This says that my phone is not unlockable.
Anyone got any ideas?
Help! Please?!
Thanks for the Guide
While not a computer noob, I am hardly an expert with the ins and outs of my SDA.
Your guide was exactly what was needed to make the move to WM6. I ran into the same problems listed here - stuck in bootloader after the ResetDevice, but managed to get past it.
Thanks for taking the time.
I wanted to thank you for the guide. I've been waiting for a WM6 update since it was announced. I finally did it yesterday, and got it running on my SDA.
Step 13 - If you are using Dopod 577w, Qtek 8310, Orange SPV C600, I-mate SP5, you need to install this file to enable Contacts and Messaging button. If you are using Dopod 586w or Imate SP5M, you need to install this file
i want to download for i mate sp5m but i will not download can anyone is help me?
I think I know why, try this, right click and save target as, instead of clicking on it

ActiveSync Connection Problem

I'm sure this has come up a billion times, but I couldn't find it in my searches.
I recently put Faria's Kitchen ROM on my wizard. However, I accidentally put too many files on it and got the whitescreen problem. After figuring out what caused the whitescreen, I attempted to flash the wizard again, but found that activesync could not see the device. This is both with the whitescreen up and in bootloader mode. I am on XP (also have Vista, but I know that is a pain) using activesync 4.5.0. Any help is appreciated!
TIA
NuttySquirrel
Also, the computer can see the device, as it loads the drivers for it.

well, when you have the phone in bootloader mode (holding voice key on bootup) activesync is still not going to see the phone. but you should be able to flash the thing... probably back to tmo 2.26 just to be safe...
When I attempt to flash the device (using a variety of different roms) the tool either gives me error 264/274 (Connection) or 300 (Wrong Update Utility).

You can upgrade from bl mode with a sd card using that method to do it. Search in forum and you'll find it. Good luck!
Windows XP is much better to upgrade with (as well as being a much better OS full stop )
There is plenty of info in the wiki about upgrading from Vista however,
Though if all else fails you could always borrow someone's XP machine to revive your phone.
Good luck!

O2 XDA Exec Won't Power On after Unccessfull ROM Upgrade

Hi...
I was trying to Upgrade my O2 XDA Exec Rom with Windows Mobile 6.5 by explode. The process went successfully till 99% and after that it ended up with Error. Then I unplugged my pda from the pc and tried to restart the device. I was surprised that the device did not respond to any of the following
Soft Reset
Hard Rest
Boot Loader mode Start (Bulb + Power + Reset)
It is totally blank screen whatever you do.
When I connected the device to the pc with usb cable, a Red Light is shown for 2 seconds and then goes off and a message comes up on the pc that "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED".
Then I tried to Remove battery from the device for a whole night and the next day morning i did all the above procedures again to get no results.
Kindly Help me out
Thanks

if it's not recognized, remove the SIM card, the SD card, and on the PC open activesync and disable usb connections. for more info open this link

Have you read here?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_Stuck_Bootloader_Serial
Try to reflash with another ROM
Hope it helped
And don´t forget to vote!
I had already done those steps to get no results.
its my badluck.
If you cannot get into bootloader and you have done the steps above, then you cannot flash to another rom.......it would seem you now have a paperweight im afraid
I am still not able to revive my device. I know that it is just due to corrupt bootloader but don't know how to repair it.
If anybody ever has solution for this... kindly let me know.
Regards
Have you tested mtty?
I would recommend to PM a chef on Universal forum
Good luck,
Mtty is not detecting my device
it says can't open usb port
One More thing I have noted is that when I keep the device connected with the pc, at a certain interval of about 10-15 mintues my device's Led shows RED Light for few seconds and then turns off followed by the the "USB device not recognized" on my pc.
I hope this can be used as a hint towards reviving my device.
Regards
have you followed orbs advise above and pm a chef on that section, they maybe able to help. From my knowledge (limited on that device) i ddont think there is any recovery proceedure that you have not tried. Have u downloaded offical wm5 rom and tried it. I know and appreciate that it will probably not work due to corrupt bootloader, but what else is there to do??
To understand more, what did you do PRIOR to trying to flash to 6.5.
Did you hardspl correctly? Had you already flashed to another rom and just felt like flashing to another new rom?? Give us more detail.
Thanks for your reply
I dont know how to PM Chef.
I had used 3 other Rom versions of WM6.1 on my device. They ran very much fine on my device. But When i found WM6.5 xplode, I wished to try that too. But the rom update procedure went successfully till 99% and after that it showed an error that upgrade was not successfull. I pulled out the device and tried to restart if by all methods but I wasnt able to power on at all.
Thanks
Regards
ok, goto the thread that you got the rom off, click the chefs name and you will get a menu there to send pm, do it, he might have seen a similar problem or know how to correct bootloader.
good luck
noup really no...
Is bricked
my bro has bricked an Universal and the same led turns red no power off no bootloar no power it means the flash chip is dead!
Sorry to heard that.
He waits too long for the upgrade it tooks at least 40 minutes
then ERROR... but you know... the batt was died in middle process ( th batt was ****ed up, it say full charged but no! it was on 60 or 50%) then the stupid thing is make a hardreset.. i told him dont hR your device... justa simple reste and reinit the process... and huh! its bricked.
if you are interested on sell your parts
maybe my bro want some parts.
my advice(similar to other people):
1. Charge your batery somehow (in other device or anything else)
2. put your devce in bootloader mode and connect it to pc - it wll be detected like microsoft usb sync
3. use mtty try difrend versions becuse sometimes 1.42 does not detect it properly - read here for what to do with mtty
IMO this may be battery problem or nand chip problem - in both cases it is hardware fail
