windows mobile on a palm device? - General Topics

i was just wondering if it is possible to put Windows mobile on the Centro wich runs on the Palm OS by ACCESS 5.4.9.

I don't think older Palm devices have the capable hardware to run WM... could be wrong though.

Even if the hardware was capable of running the OS there is no chance of getting the drivers for this device so there is no way to put WM on it.
For any device to support windows mobile someone needs to write windows mobile drivers for every piece of hardware in that device.

there is a program that is call styletap it launcher you can run palm on window mobile it i expensive but it good

Styletap lets you run programs written for the Palm OS on a Windows Mobile device.
It will not let you install Windows Mobile on a Palm device!

windows mobile motorola a1000!!

can any one plzz help if i can i put windows mobile on my motorola A1000. i'd appreciate suggestions and ROMs
cheerz
No, it's a Symbian OS phone with a totally different architecture and screen resolution to Windows Mobile devices.
Also, unless Motorola developed a build for it, nobody else would have all of the necessary drivers etc to make it work.
Windows Mobile isn't a generic OS that can be installed on any device, it is built on top of an embedded platform specific to device hardware.
where can i get the latest symbian upgrade for it then..........its locked to three network........i wanna DE-brand it and put on a new symbian OS so it can accept other sim cards
cheers
I have no idea, this site is for XDA devices, mainly Windows Mobile, but with a few able to run Linux.
Perhaps if you look for a Symbian UIQ forum?
What you're looking for is:

I think from memory they have dedicated A1000 forums.

Windos ce Software on Windows Mobile??

Hi,
Is it possible to put Windows ce based software(like Becker navigation) on a Windows mobile based Smartphone??
There must be a kind of Emulator, doesn't??
I am using a Htc diamond with windows mobile 5.2
Would be great, if anyone could help me!!!
Thanks
most software would work out of the box
but something which require special hardware
which it sounds like something called "Becker navigation" would
is not likely to work
it's the same core and most wm software run just fine on CE
that of cause is if it's the arm version of CE

Virtual Mouse Cursor for Windows Mobile Standard (non-touchscreen)

I plan to buy a new phone having Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard on it (non-touchscreen) and I wonder if something like VirtuaMouse (http://www.innovisoft.com/virtuamouse/) will allow running certain apps that have been designed for touchscreen devices.
Has anyone tried if this works?
Particularly, I am heading for the HTC Snap and I'd love to run MyLifeOrganized on it...

[Q] Windows phone or windows mobile

As far as I know there isn't any PC emulator on Windows phone 7 because Microsoft haven't released a native C++ SDK for WP7 and PC emulators has written in C++.
I want to buy a new phone but I don't know to buy a Windows mobile or a Windows phone device?
I need a PC emulator which is not available for WP7 but it is for WM (QEMU) but WM is going to die!
What do you suggest? Buy a WP7 phone or WM6.5?

would definitely not be a question for me. I suggest to buy a WP7 device.

[Q] Tutorial for native app

Hi,
I'm looking for some tutorial or complete project, how can I run native app from Windows Mobile to Windows Phone 7.
I know, it's bad question, but why not.
In theory, you can make it happen. Cuz Windows Phone 7 is based on Windows CE 6.0/7.0 But actually MS has already removed some unneeded features of CE or WM. Although they use the same kernel, but you can't run it from WM to WP7 directly.
