Adding Regions to Regional Settings - Palm Treo 750

Anyone know how to add a region to the regional settings in WM6? A lot of countries are missing and unfortunately the country I'm in, Indonesia, is one of them. I need to set the region correctly so that the phone will stop thinking I'm roaming (it's affecting the way the phone rings and the connection messages I keep getting regarding roaming). Help please....

Disable roaming function, manually select provider

Can someone tell me if it is (and how) possible to disable all other providers except for your own.
So when passing over the border preventing the htc wizard to select another provider (roaming).
I know it's possible to manual select a provider, but when it has no range it will (automatically) select another (roaming) provider.
I want only my own provider and if it's not available I want none at all.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to do this?

hi
Sorry to bring back this old thread, but got exactly the same problem, and I didn't found an answer yet.
I leave in Switzerland, near the border with France.
As in Switzerland GSM transmitter have lower power than in France, my HTC Touch switch very often to french network and don't come back to home one.
So I want to completly disable roaming (any way can be used), and when travelling, I can switch roaming back on.
Any one can help me ?
Thanks

Hi
Nope, sorry it doesn't work.
I already set network on manual, but when "home network" is not available, phone switch to foreign one.
That's why I was asking if anybody got a solution.
Greetings.

wm6 and roaming

just wrote bloody long post and pc crashed in internet cafe-
so gonna write a short one now.
i am running darkforce wm6-very stable does what i want it to do in the uk
howvever in stockholm at present and cannot browse internet or send/recieve email for what will amount to the same the problem.
the handset is obvioulsy unlocked and with t-mobile,but when abroad last year with different wm5 roms -no problems everything worked fine, have spoken to t-mobile who are about as much use as a choclate tea pot
1) when trying to connect to internet-it does nothing-if i force the connection and get it use the csd t-mobile -i get 'failed to dial' message
2) when trying to retrive pop3 email(no exchange server involved) get new message about extra charge as roaming and then it try to connect for a spilt second before displaying error syncronising
i can roam all networks pick everything up?
please help people
hello,
I've no probleme with data connection when roaming my provider is SFR (france) and roaming provider is proximus (belgium).
Have you trying with another roaming provider ?
as many as i can try telia, vodafone se ,iq etc etc
no joy-beginning toi think it is to do with t-mobile
also without stating the obvious, as and when i can find a free wifi-everything works
are you having prob only with your data connection?? back in uk (?) were you using 3g or gprs and lastly in setting/phone/ is the band set to wcdma (3g) or gprs
in uk had set data to auto all have tried every over type- but still does not explain why it worked seamless before -it either is something within the wm6 rom(i doubt) or t-mobile(proable)
but as i m traveling as soon as i get back i would like to get to the bottom of it.
It may not be your Universal - it may be your provider
Did you inform T-Mobile that you were going overseas? They need to activate international roaming on your account...
I've seen this problem before (working in a phone shop and all...), a customer from country xxxxx can't make\receive calls - because international roaming is not active on their account
Roaming worked on WM5, now not on WM6
Hi
I had similar problems. While Roaming previously (From SA (MTN), roaming in Mauritius (on Cellplus and Emtel) under WM5, I had no problems with SMS (text) or data calls.
Recently upgraded to WM6 (Laurentius' V7 VideoCall) and when landing in Mauritius last week, I could not send SMS(text) or connect data. It picked up the network. I did not test normal voice calls, since I usually dont make any while roaming. I simply used my sim card in a different handset for the week, but it was very frustrating, since Ive come to rely heavily on data access while travelling overseas (for email, skype, etc)

Could also be Radio Ver
Hi all, Could you all edit your posts and enter your Radio SStack Ver ?
And if you can remember what Ver you were on when it used to work on WM5.
As stated in the post, the 1.18 Stack had updates for roaming, I haven't had a chance to test it myself, could anyone provide feedback on roaming with 1.18.
Cheers,
Beast
dark force(excellent) and radio 1.15 will try upgrade as leave country in a few weeks
I roam between China, Hong Kong and Taiwan a lot. It appears data works better with some local service providers only. So what I do is when travelling to a new place, know which local providers data network 'roams' better with my China Mobile, by manually selecting, and trying, one by one, on the phone control panel, network selection part. Once I found one that worked, then I manually fix to that one.
Now everytime I travel to a different region, I just do, phone control panel->network->manual-> choose the known good one.
I hope this works in your situation and network providers.

GSM Data & Phone Settings - Overseas

I am visiting Australia for 3 months this summer and was hoping to use my TP2 with a Virgin Mobile Australia SIM card for voice and data. From searching the forum it looks as if I am going to need some setting for data access, and possible to disable CMGuardian.
When I have used my UK Orange or Italian TIM SIM in my Motorola Razr under Tools I see some SIM specific menu items for checking credit, recharging etc. Will I see the same things in the TP2 once it make a connection?
I would appreciate any suggestions for anybody who has used a GSM SIM for data access.
Thanks
No you need to contact the provider and find out the settings for data
GSM Overseas settings
Now in Australia, I have had to adjust several settings and I want to pass on what I learned. After inserting the Virgin Mobile SIM, don't forget to switch to GSM only. There are some CDMA services in Australia and you don't want to roam onto them or you will be paying the Sprint Roaming rates. The Virgin SIM did not show up as an icon under settings and tools the way that other SIM cards have.
I found my phone worked as a phone, GPS worked and it would go on the internet thru Opera. However, at first it would not access my email and required me to dial local calls in Australia as if they were long distance.
I found I needed to change the Global Smart Dialing settings which can be found under Phone, Menu, Global Smart Dialing (need to scroll down to see this option on the Menu). Change the "dialing from" to the correct number required before country code. So for Australia, where you dial 00 before the country code when dialing out internationally, selecting Australia will change the 011 (used when dialing from the USA) to 00.
Next I needed to change the dialing rules. Go to Start, Settings, Menu, All Settings, Connections, Connections, Advanced Tab, Dialing Rules. I ticked the box for "use dialing rules", and edited the rules for Mobile, Work and Home to use the Australia country code of 61 and blanked the area code. I think I could have got the same result by editing the dialing pattern for local calls to remove the E and the F so that local calls did not have the country code or area code prefixed to them.
To fix the Email issue, I had to go to my email accounts by going to the Inbox, Menu, Tools, Options and tapping on each email setup in turn. Once in an email setup, select "Edit Account Settings" and tap Next 4 times to get to Advanced Server Settings. Here there is a drop down list of Network connections. I had to change mine from "The Internet" to VirginGPRS.
NOTE: Have not had a chance to try this, but probably the easier way to fix the email issue is to go to Start, Settings, Connections, Connections, Advanced tab and under Programs that automatically......should connect using "VirginGPRS" or whatever service you are using.
At this point I have phone calls, local SMS, internet and email working. I still have a problem with international SMS.
I am sure somebody understands this better than me and perhaps their is a more elegant way of doing this, but at least it worked.

S6 unable to see test mobile network

I'm building a test mobile network on some laptops and with a software defined radio based on Open AirInterface (is googleable, but I can't post the link cos I'm a newb) code, and I have this up and running. Additionally, I've bought some programmable SIMs to work with it on a bunch of phones. The information on these I've added into my HSS implementation. The Country Code/Network code deployed on the SIMs is 901/70 - so it doesn't interfere with commercial networks.
I'm testing with a bunch of phones in an isolation chamber, and my end goal is to shift the network into something I have a license for and "go public", but this network will have a low channel bandwidth (3MHz or 1.4MHz in Band 3 LTE). Not many phones have supported this, so I started with a 5MHz channel, which most do support - and I've successfully connected an S4 and a Nexus to my little network. However, when I tried the S6 with a SIM that worked in another phone, it cannot even see the network. I've seen hints of Samsung doing operator whitelisting, but would like to know if this is the case and, if possible, how to add my operator codes into the whitelist.
So far, I've tried the following:
a) "*#0011#" puts you into ServiceMode where you used to be able to enable/disable frequency bands and other such settings with the "Q0000" menu entry - but it looks like Samsung have squished this, also I know the phone has Band 3 operational as I can put a commercial SIM in it that runs on that band. I've not found any way of actually modifying any settings within this mode.
b) I found the file "/system/etc/apns-conf.xml" which contains a list of operator APN addresses - I updated mine to contain my settings, but no joy, and if I "reset to default" my APN settings, my settings are not picked up and I have to manually add my APN (but at least that stays selected)
c) I found some databases in "/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/", in particular "nwk_info.db" and added my network details to it. The phone then changed from basically saying I was only able to make emergency calls to "Selected mobile network (901/70) unavailable", which kind of at least hints I've moved it in the right direction
The S6 is running a rooted factory reset, and allows SIMS from two different commercial operators on it so it should be completely unlocked. It's never been out of the country, so should have "defeated" the region locks that Sammy put on the phones nowadays (although it begs the question whether rooting the phone resets this and perhaps it's still awaiting 5 mins of calls via a local SIM?).
Does anyone know of a whitelist of MNC/MCC numbers I can add my settings to? Or any other possible solution to this?
The long winded solution is to change the MNC/MCC info on each of my SIMs, but that's a PITA and I'm not even sure it'll work yet (I will attempt to try one soon, but changing the configs on my mobile network is also non-trivial!)

I have a factory reset Samsung that keeps showing YouTube in a different language

I'm a United Kingdom citizen currently residing in Sweden, purchased a used Samsung Galaxy S9 from a friend for £350 in pristine condition, I was very happy with it until I noticed this annoyance.
Naturally I want to browse news from back home, so I use a VPN service that redirects all traffic through the UK, meaning every website or service believes I'm still back home, this has worked perfectly up until now.
This phone was purchased brand new in Sweden, never operator locked, once I was handed the phone it was factory reset, first time I turned it on I was met with "Let's Go!" text, set the language as English (UK) and time zone as London (GMT+0).
Before inserting my SIM card I wanted to test the phone out, so I connected the phone to my Laptop that then shared its VPN connection, proceeded to create a Samsung and Google account for the phone, when creating the Samsung Account it detected my location as United Kingdom and while creating the Google account it asked for a UK phone number (SMS verification).
But once I opened the Samsung Members app, all the text was in Swedish! I thought maybe the app can read the phones identification number (CSC) and figure out it was sold in Sweden, so it can restrict Samsung offers and Beta participation, that makes sense to me and I could let that slide, but then..
I try out every app the phone comes with after a factory reset, and a few more that the phone (Samsung/Google) recommended to me while it was updating apps, going through them nothing looked out of the ordinary except for one of the last things I opened: YouTube
The YouTube app no matter what I do, keeps recommending me Swedish videos to watch, on the hompage and on the trending section, when absolutely nothing on the phone or google account is set to Swedish (by default the YouTube app was set to United States).
I confirmed with Google Chrome on both my laptop (desktop) and phone (app), opening YouTube.com it recommends me UK videos instead of Swedish videos.
Anyone got a clue of what is going on? How could the YouTube (Google) app possibly detect that the phone is in Sweden and not the UK? I checked the CSC code and it's set to OXM NEE (Nordic Countries - Unbranded), so it's not even set to Sweden.
Summary,
Sold unbranded in Sweden (Not operator locked)
CSC is set to NEE (Nordic Countries)
Factory reset
Phone is currently in Sweden
No SIM card inserted (Phone is not connected to a mobile network, only emergency calls possible)
Language set to UK
Time Zone set to UK
IP Address set to UK (Wi-Fi)
Location never turned on (GPS)
Google Account detected and set as UK
Samsung Account detected and set as UK
YouTube app detected and set to US
Yet Samsung Members app shows everything in Swedish and the YouTube App still recommends Swedish videos. This to me sounds concerning and is annoying, these apps are doing things completely out of my control. The only thing I can think of is that both apps are somehow getting information from the cellular tower connection established for emergency purposes since there's no SIM card in the phone, and the CSC is set to generic Nordic Countries, not Sweden specifically which has a different CSC.
