Flash 8 or 9 for Windows Mobile??? - General Topics

Anyone know how to watch AOL videos on Windows Mobile? They don't play on the Core Player with the standard codecs for YouTube, nor do they work on VTap. AOL says their videos are played in the Flash 9 format. Installed Flash Player 7 for Pocket PC from the Adobe site, but that doesn't work on AOL--I still get a message saying Flash 8 is required for full-length videos. Is anything available for PocketPCs that will work?
I've searched and found that there's something called Flash Lite 3.0 coming earlier next year, but 2.0 is supposedly based on Flash Player 7 so I haven't bothered to try that yet.
BTW, I was very surprised and pleased to find out that AOL Videos have all the episodes of some great classics, like Bullwinkle, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, etc. They play fine on my laptop.

Is there any way to watch You tube video?

Have you read this?
it seems that all the solutions there are for downloading, converting and then watching. But I need it to work on-fly, without downloading, the way we watch it on our PCs.
Now Windows Mobile Phones Can, so why can't we?
I know I'm getting sick of seeing those stupid Verizon adds for the EnV that shows the huge YouTube logo on the screen, and wondering why my WM phone can't. I know my phone can do hundreds, if not thousands of things, that the EnV can't, but as long as there is ONE thing that a non WM phone can do that mine can't, I feel like less of a man. Where do I sign up mfrazz's 12 step program?
and is there any way to watch p2p tv on ppc like on pc?
I just intalled the newest version on Opera 8.65... its in beta right now... BUT IT PLAYS YOUTUBE videos!!!! WooHoo!!!

Orb Lets You Play YouTube on Your PPC
I use a program called Orb to play YouTube on my PPC. It loads on your home PC, then you use any PPC browser to access it. It's pretty dang sweet. I have had hardly any problems with it.
orb.com
Well, there are a lot of ways to watch you tube video offline on your PPC. For example, you can just download a youtube video using youtube grabber on your PC then convert it to avi using some endcoder, and then watch it with TCMP or Core PLayer.
However, the main point of the thread is to get a way of watching youtube video on-fly being online with you PPC.
So, far the best way of doing that is using new Opera. However, it's not a perfect way
orb is the way to go. orb does it on the fly also. check it out.

It really is. The only problem I found about it is that the PC must always run the application and be online to be able to watch video from PPC, which is sometimes a problem for me. The rest is awsome.
the other nice thing is you can also view your webcam anytime also. I use it for sucurity purposes . very nice feature.

I think downloads are the only way to watch you tube videos. Try this site: mymobileclips.com, free registration, specify the format you want your videos, and you can get Google, Myspace, Ifilm, Dailymotion, Break, Metacafe, too.
I personally believe ORB is by fair the best thing to cross streaming\PPC lines...I have absolutely no problem watching youtube on my PPC using orb, and talk about an iPhone?? Who needs that when you have an 250 gig hdd with movies, music, pictures, and then are able to watch your local cable service thats at home while your out and about on a lunch break, and then to be able to access your PC and browse and download files from anywhere............ORB IS GOD when it comes to media and mobile devices....not to mention to gain access on my xbox 360 using orb as well without switching my external from device to device, and not using the lame media center....orbs great....just thought id mention it.

I've been trying orb and im a bit new to it. But from my understanding, orb will only work if you pre-selected the videos on your PC first right?
Is there any way to watch ANY youtube video? For example if you searched for one and want to watch it, you cant use the standard browser to see it. How does orb come into play for watching videos on demand? Will it only allow us to see videos that we have pre-added on our pc with the orb plugin?

Orb defines videos, pics, audio, files, etc defined in a specifc folder....when you setup orb it then scans the folders to save the content locations onto the orb server, so what ever you put in a specified folder, orb will pull it in for you.
With youtube, just download the plugin on orbs website for IE, install.....then login into orb on your ppc.....go to videos....then it comes up with an search for youtube....google...yahoo...etc, type in what you want to search, it then show it infront of you, click what you want to watch, then click play stream.
No pre-added video for youtube, just an search as if you were at your desktop.

Does Anybody Have VLC for Mobile?

Hi all, has anybody got the installer for VLC windows mobile?
I had it installed on my wizard and it worked great, but have recently switched to the HTC Panda, and upon searching for vlc mobile, i have found that development on it has stopped and the download links are gone o.0
If anyone has a link or a copy of this then it would be greatly appreciated, I do have all of the fiels for VLC i believe on a memory card, however just runnig that doesnt work, i figure due to the codecs or something
well then, after that i just found it with ease, i feel kinda stoopid now
anyhow, found it on the sourceforge
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlcpocketpc/
works great for playing all types of media
I use VLC player on my computer and I love it. TCMP makes a version for your computer as well.

Always follow my articles - I've mentioned this title in my Radio Streaming Bible.
In general, I don't recommend it at all - CorePlayer / TCPMP are far better / more optimized. It's very rarely that you'll find the WM version of VLC better.
well ...tcpmp for ppc = vlc for pc
i use it and its fantastic.
uses less memory and plays video without jerks even if ripped at 1.5 mbps (on a magician)

Youtube on Mobile - Free - Awesome!

(EDIT: I just read this and it sounds like an ad - I have no affiliation with Orb at all. I just got a bit excited that it was working so easily!)
So I've read forum after forum on youtube videos on mobiles (I have a kaiser/tilt) I've played with numerous methods, watched the crappy mini youtube vids and on and on. I was using Kinoma (I paid for it, very nice and I use it all the time) but yesterday I found the answer was so EASY!
A few months ago I installed Orb - (just google for link) It is free software that links your home machine to the net. It runs in the background on your home machine and allows you to link to any file you initially gave access to from any other machine on the www. I use it to stream all my recorded TV shows - including HD shows to my phone. It works great and I've really put it thru it's paces. Like having a mini TV tuner on my phone.
Anyway, TO THE GOOD STUFF. I was looking for other videos (movies and Netflix downloads to test) I had on my home machine and saw a link under the VIDEO tab called Online Videos. From here I can seach for Youtube videos, Google Videos, AOL, Photobucket, Yahoo, and Guba videos. Now I just found this last night, so I haven't looked at how it is done. I assume it is streamed to my home pc and encoded back up for my phone. but it plays the youtube video thru windows media player (as I have my settings on orb set). So it has to be re-encoded right?
AWESOME SOFTWARE - and it's free. I can't beleive that the answer was so easy and right in front of me for weeks.
Happy Streaming - Will
How it works...
So I just got home and had a minute to look up how orb works. From the orb webpage...
http://www.orb.com/en/orb_networks_...e_other_internet_videos_mobile_for_first_time
How Orb MyCasting Works
A simple download of the Orb software to an always-on Windows PC is all it takes to start MyCasting. Instantly, the Orb applications allows users to stream the YouTube RSS feed from their home computer to any Web-enabled mobile device with a browser. Orb automatically transcodes the video stream into the appropriate media format, bitrate, and screen resolution for the user's mobile phone. No specialized mobile software or separate carrier contract is required to enjoy Internet Video on mobile
Now I can't actually surf the full youtube, but any videos can be searched for and watched without any extra sofware on my phone.
Will
I can do that already with the latest Opera 9.5 No need to keep my home pc or anything running.
Regards,
Carty..

HTML5 music streaming websites?

Anyone know of any websites using HTML5 to stream music? Pandora is going to update their website to HTML5 soon, but was just wondering if there are any good legal websites streaming using HTML5 for the time being.
something like this>>
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/mobile/HTML5/Audio/Default.html
There is one MS used to demo HTML5 on IE9 - don't recall what it was, but since it wasn't in English, it was pretty much unusable to me. I got it to play something though, and it worked as promised.
But right now I am dissapointed with the lack of HTML5 content on the web. And also it looks like some sites have odd implementations of it. Vimeo HTML5 player, for example, does not work on WP, but does work on the desktop version of IE9. I think the problem is on Vimeo's end - checking for browsers, and not allowing HTML5 to work on browsers not explicitly supported by Vimeo.
The one which MS demoed is already linked in my OP, was just wondering if there were websites using that tech.
I just figured there would be plenty of html5 websites since the iOS devices so not support flash, but I guess flash still rules the web.
https://droptun.es/ has a html5 version of their service (you'll have to link your dropbox account, if you have one, with it, or create one)
Haven't tried it on mango yet but in theory you'll be able to listen to your music while multitasking.
Its no HTML5 support in: 7661.WP7_5_Trial.

[Q] How to stream flash videos on Windows Mobile

Hi everyone,
I have a problem. I have a Palm Treo Pro 850w phone, which is quite old. It runs with Windows Mobile Professional 6.1.0. The problem that I have is that I can't find any web browser that can fully support adobe flash.
I have Opera Mobile 10 which has a flash plug-in called flash lite. It works partially and is only able to play Youtube videos. I have tried other programs such Skyfire 1.5, Bolt 1.5, Mach 5, but none of which work. I read online that Adobe has actually stopped producing adobe flash programs for smart phones.
I would like to know if there any ways that I can actually stream flash files online without using adobe flash. I also read that smartphones are now moving towards using HTML5. How does this work?
Please help.
Thanks.
