Well, I wanted a case for my N1... and found the Amzer-Rubberized-Black-Snap-On-Crystal-Hard-Case... it looked good and so I ordered it from the amzer website... hxxp://amzer.com/Amzer-Rubberized-Black-Snap-On-Crystal-Hard-Case-P86573.htm
my biggest mistake... recd. it 16 days after I placed the order... after constantly nagging their customer support... and the product is miserable... poor quality... does not snap together properly (very tight fit... too tight!!!)... the inside is very rough...
should I get a replacement... well, I'm thinking not... I'll land up wasting more time and money... and get one more unit which will be just as bad...
My advice... stay away from this... get something decent even if you have to pay more... something which is good quality and fits properly!
Amzer and Fommy.com are joke retailers in my opinion. I ordered a case from them, a hard case, which in the pictures on their site showed that it covered the front bottom portion of the phone completely around the trackball. It looked great in the pic as it showed it protected every exposed area of the phone except the screen and trackball. They charged $17 + 5 shipping which I though was a bit high for a hard case but since it covered the whole phone I thought it was worth it. After waiting 2 weeks for delivery what I got was totally different than what was pictured. It's a hard case that covers only the outer front edge of the phone like a crystal case. Not worth more than five dollars on eBay. I went back on there site and noticed that the small image of the case still looks like what i thought I was ordering but if you hover your mouse over the image a larger image appears that is totally different than the smaller. This image was changed after the day I ordered at some point. I talked to a CSR (Fommy.com) and they had no idea what i was talking about and said they would need to look into it and get back to me, that was a week ago. I e mailed Amzer about it and they never responded back (Partner site). The customer service rep did say i could ship it back at my expense. WTF. Theives and con-artists. Do yourself a favor and don't deal with them. Pass it along.
Terrible product...don't even deal with them again!
I just got a similar product from bargaincell via amazon and it does not fit. Granted, I only paid $6 (including shipping) I expected the case to at least fit. It looks like a bad mold. The cover for the face of the N1 does not totally match cover for the back of the device. Four of the five snap on clasp(I hope thats the right term) on the inside of the top cover match the bottom cover. It just one thats out of place therefore its keep the the top cover from snapping completely shut. Bargaincell's invoice states they have a no-hassle return policy.....I will find out if it holds true on Monday.
Well, I decided to contact Amzer regarding the crappy case... got an e-mail back from them after 2 days... they told me to mail it back to them along with a $5 re-shipping fee... WTF!!! I pay to send it to them and I pay the shipping fee for the new one as well... absolute rip-off!!!
STAY AWAY FROM AMZER AND IT'S PRODUCTS!!!!!
I got stinged by them too. They even had the guts to charge me a 15% restocking fee, and I had to call them up 2 weeks later to get my refund because they "forgot" about it...
Amzer and Fommy, avoid like the plaque.
ordered this on friday and got today .. nice case over all better than other cheap cases on ebay. am sick of ebay sellers for cheap cases of no use. finally this is better than other cases that I saw
My wife is looking for a smartphone, it will really be her first and while i love my inspire and she seems to enjoy it im wondering if waiting a few months to wait for the LG Thrill or a newer HTC product.
I think the size of the device might be an issue, i would want to put a case on it cause shes kinda tough on electronics, however if u had a nice case to the Inspire i could see her complaining about the size.
What would you recommend?
Since she is tough on electronics, I would recommended ordering a Case-Mate Tough Case or an Otterbox. I have a Tough Case on my Inspire, and it has fallen 3 times since I've had it. The biggest fall it had, I was walking out of Wally-World and was taking it out of my pocket, it slipped and fell on the ground. Since it was in the Tough Case at the time, it didn't make any marks on it or crack the screen, as it did hit on the side a couple times. I paid 32 dollars with free shipping since I ordered it from the ATT Online store. Well worth the price I paid. From what I've read, an Otterbox would be just as effective protecting it from that fall. It however, is over 40 dollars from Otterbox. I would also recommend buying the Smartphone Experts Screen Protectors from the Android Central Store. The protectors are custom cut for our screen, while maintaining the screens clarity, and it is easy to slide your fingers on the screen after installing. Those are just my recommendations for her if you get her an Inspire. My wife won't stop taking my phone to play my Angry Birds. Lmao
EDIT: The LG Thrill is just as big as the Inspire, and a newer HTC phone won't appear on ATT for another couple months. Just depends on whether you, or her, are big on 3D mostly. I say stick with an Inspire until we have at least official confirmation of the Holiday. Which should be anytime in the next couple of months, as it is a rumored LTE launch device, and they are looking to get LTE going later this summer. Not to mention, we should be getting our official gingerbread update later this summer as well. Hope she enjoys whatever phone you decide to get, or give, her.

^Of course it wont, its hard as well, but is it reallly absorbing the shock?not as much....
The Inspire is definitely the best phone AT&T has currently. I paid the in store price for screen protectors, and they are pretty nice. They give the screen a matte look, but still allow nice tactile response, and it comes in a 2 pack (pro-tip: the matte piece is the screen protector, not the clear piece). I got a nice silicon skin for it off ebay for $3 shipped, from a US seller even. The silicon skin does add considerable bulk, and makes it more difficult to get in and especially out of a belt holster, but it allowed my phone to survive a fall from chest level (upper chest, and I'm 5'11") to concrete on the corner pf the phone with only a slight nick to the aluminum (it hit _HARD_).
If this is going to be your wifes first smartphone you can not go wrong with the Inspire. There are so many deals on it its sick. Anywhere from free to $40, or $99 at an AT&T retail store.
My wife loves hers with everything stock.
From one husband to another unless your wife asks for it or is computer savy and can put up with bugs. DO NOT ROOT HER PHONE!

I'd be willing to give Best Buy an extra $20 if they promised to keep that horrid Lady Gaga CD.
The Shack has the Inspire in red, if she's into that. Mine regular Inspire is making everyone at work jealous. Even the iPhonies.
AFAIK, Inspires are free at Amazon Wireless (well, 1 cent, what have you) if you're etiher adding an account/getting a family line.
People say that it fits the Touchpad...I picked up a couple for myself.
Snatch these up before they're gone. The deal is in www.passwird.com.
I hear they dont work with the Touchstone charger.
I just ordered 1. Cant beat $5!
I just got mine (though I paid $10) and it works on my touchstone charger when closed.
biggest gripe was FedEX showing up at 10am and my having to sign for it. (no way to just get standard USPS shipping where I didn't have to stay home from work.

I realize this story is long, and somewhat disorganized... I am tired, and have been drinking tequila
I realize that 95% of this scenario played out to luck on my part... but my wife and I ordered two of these cases from Amazon that were relatively cheap...but our Poetic cases had started to separate where the rubber buttons met the plastic back of the case. I ran around with the Google bumper for a while, but really felt antsy about the back of the phone. I started searching for cases, and found these online for pretty cheap.

When they first arrived I felt like they were just cheap cases, like any other... nothing special. They also had writing on the fold out stand on the back that said "Kay's Case" which just irked me. My name is Tony, not Kay.
Anyway, long story short, my wife was out of town over the weekend to visit her dad in Georgia. I had the entire weekend with me and my dog... she had all the kids. I spent my time riding around with the dog, buying her hot dogs and cheeseburgers... after Saturday morning passed, I decided it was time to bust out the Harley. I got my bike out, and headed to the nearest gas station, bought gas, and hit the road.
I pulled away from the pump, across the parking lot, and stopped to use my cell phone to set the clock on my bike. I know for a fact that it was 1:26 when this took place. I placed my Nexus 4 in my pocket, and took off up the road to go down to the Harley dealer here because they were having a parking lot party, with bands, food, etc... I got there, and immediately reached for my phone to check to see if my wife had called. It was gone. I had forgotten to zip the pocket before I took off.
I got right back on the bike and slowly road the trip back. I rode back and forth 5 times looking for it, tried calling my wife to use the Real-Time GPS app to see where the phone was, but it was no longer reporting, and for some reason stopped reporting when I left the house. I wasted the entire day looking for it, trying to call it... all I could get was the "This Google Subscriber is not available" messages from Google voice.
When I got home, I used the land-line to call my wife and let her know I had not found it. The first thing she said was "did you go to the police department yet?". I asked her why I should, and she said they found my phone. Knowing this thing is two planes of glass with some circuit boards sandwiched between it left me thinking awful things. I was planning my next phone purchase (I really want a Note)... I rode to the police department at 9pm, but we live in a small town, and the door was locked.
I went back home, and went to bed. I attempted to call the phone before falling asleep, and got the dreaded Google message again. Surely something about the phone was working, as they managed to call my wife from my Contacts on the phone.
I went to sleep, and woke up early...and headed straight to the Police Department. They ran around inside looking for the phone, and eventually found it... The case was off of it completely. I took it from the officer, and looked at it... and there was not a scratch on the phone. It was working just fine, but somehow airplane mode was enabled... I may have hit the toggle when I was turning off Wifi before leaving the house.
Seriously though, I signed the lost property paperwork, and noticed the address was 1052 Main St. I rode back on the same path, to see where that was... The speed limit there was 55mph... I would have likely been doing around 60mph when the phone was dropped. It ended up in this ladies driveway. I pulled in, knocked on the door, and gave her the $40 I had in my pocket...
The case though, is basically broken now. One of the corners is so mis-shapen that it will not stay on the phone, and falls off very easily. There is literally not a single scratch on this phone. I realize that if it had hit screen side down it would be toast...but it is obvious it tumbled end over end on the corners a few times, and then slid on its back to a stop in her driveway...The back face of the phone is flawless, the corners are flawless, the screen is flawless... and everything is working. I am very happy with this case as a whole, and am in the process of ordering a replacement right now. I really cannot believe this thing survived, knowing it is one of the most (if not the most) fragile phones on the market.
I think it should also be said that the case is $12.95, but the cheapest shipping option is about $8... but it still paid for itself in a big way
Amazing :]
Looks like the boxwave resolute, which can be had for $5 shipped.
Yeah so...
I currently have the Ringke Hybrid Fusion case on my Nexus 4, and i love it. But after reading this, i'll be ordering the Kay's case as well...just in case.
Excellent story, OP!
These bulky cases are indeed durable but not sexy. Good story though.
Good story, now the Police Department got your speeding confession.
Cruzerlite R the best !!
Cruzerlite makes the most awesome Android themed cases ever for the Nexus 4 and they're much cheaper and You get 1 for free with every 2 you pay 4 !!!
search Amazon 4 CRUZERLITE NEXUS 4 !!!
faith in humanity restored ! at least a lil since i've had like 3 phones stolen and never got back but on a real note the Ringke Hybrid Fusion case does not protect the phone too much mine cracked with it on =/ when it comes back from repair im buying one of these lol even though it's gonna take my phones sexay ness down some notches whatever
Same!
I too have this case and it has saved my (once shattered, had poetic bumper on) nexus 4 from breaking at least 10 times. Ive dropped it from basically 6ft to 2ft and "knock on wood" it has been fully protected. This case has single handily saved my wallet numerous times. Hopefully my good luck continues!!!
I just ordered one and got a free upgrade to two day shipping by signing up for a free trial to amazon prime. Not sure how long that will last for.
Heads up:
Bestbuy has some cheap Dynex cases for the S5 they're .25
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchp...All+Categories&ks=960&st=Dynex+galaxy+S5+case
I'd recommend buying online and picking up at a store near you(Some stores will mark them up). You will have to walk around the store to find where these are hanging.
Warning Ebayers are grabbing these (Including myself)
Thank you for the heads up.
