Actual working Net CF 3.5 OEM Package - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

After building roms with all 3 available netcf 3.5 packages (_Alex_,Caixo and Faman) I experienced problems with the xmradio/mobitv resetter and glossy black bars saying that components were missing. After such I installed the netcf 3.5 cab which eliminated all these problems so I decided to build my own netcf 3.5 package which I have confirmed works.
http://rapidshare.com/files/75044332/NETCF_3.5_OEM.zip.html

Hello. I took a look at your package to see if mine was screwed up. I used a modified version of FAMAN's and it looks very close to the one I used from FAMAN. The file names are different, but essentially the same because your rgu calls for the different file names.
The only problem with his was that his rgu only had entries for "Global" and none for "ROM" so I added those settings before I used it. Not sure if that makes any difference though. One issue with your package is that these 2 files:
cgacutil.exe.500~699~ARMV4I
mscoree.dll.500~699~ARMV4I
don't seem to have the correct extension to be usable. Also, the third line in you rgu references GAC_mscoree.dll, but I don't see anything in your rgu that renames them without the 500~699~ARMV4I extension or anything that adds GAC_ to mscoree. What do those 2 files look like after cooking?
Thanks.

I used an rgu from one of the other packages but all the files from the .cab and edited the rgu accordingly. I'm on my way out though so I'll check how they compile into the rom after cooking when I get in, but I do know I had said problems before and they were eliminated after.

Many thanks "fiendz" your version cooks pefectly just what I was looking for.

I will have ago with your package, thanks

Does this package speed up roms which have 2.0 installed on them already?

fiendz, you were right. I tested my NetCF from FAMAN and not only does glossy black bars not work, but the calculator didn't work either. I found the problem though. In FAMAN's OEM he uses folders for files like mscoree.dll and cgautil.exe that have several files in them. Once you cook these folders become dll or exe files. For some reason the file size was different from yours. I was able to fix my ROM by replacing the 5 dll's and 1 exe in question.
Great Work!

I meant please share the coffee which apparently I need more of if I missed that

anytime i try and cook this into my rom does not flash correctly. it says its corrupted. any idea what would be causing this?

Gonna need more info to assist you with that.

how does it can be install ?

Just want to say that I can cook it into my ROM without any problems.
However, it won't work if I try to use an Option.xml with it.
Tested the new .Net to work with Tweaks2K2 & Glossy Blackbar.
Thanks for the share.

Can I just replace the old Netcf package in sys folder with the new netcf package, then rebuild the rom? Thanks!

I'm curious about this as well. Also, if one is using Alex's kitchen, do his base rom's already include this fix?

just put it in the oem folder, works great for me (delete the old one from sys)
Everything works great for me,exept the htc album...gestures dont work, dunno if its my version of album that is faulty or if its the net3.5 that cause it

Thanks, itje. That worked great!

Learning to cook. Need a little help

I'm using alex's kitchen and am trying to create a cooked wm6.1 rom from the CE OS 5.2.19170 (BUILD 19170.1.0.0).
I've extracted the rom loads of times and can create a flashable RUU_signed.nbh with additional apps from packages (and some packages i made myself) but if i try to add the new polaris camera or anything that the rom may have a previous version of it errors out and can't create the default hives.
It says for a lot of the added packages they do not contain rgu's.
Anyone fancy trying to mentor me a bit?
read the wiki on how to make oem packages bro im in the midst of making my own custom rom right now based off of dcs1.1
Cheers for the reply.
I've done that and made some working packages but it seems thats not the problem. i think i need to remove all the older stuff from oemapps first but i don't know how to do that and can't find any pointers.
I know i could start deleting stuff but thats probably not wise.
ive been lerning myself the past 3 days non stop just testing n testing new stuff seeing what goes well, trying to take pkgs from roms and merge to other etc takes some time but ull get it if u keep at it, i really recommend the packages creator 5.4 util for making ur pkgs
i just wish i cood find the pkgs for dutties beautiful red phone dialer and call history etc. i tried removing it but its a bit too advanced for me atm
I've been using the package creator in the kitchen (ervius' one).
I'm on nightshifts at work and i think the sleep deprivation is making me miss the obvious.
I'll stick at it for a bit though and then have a proper go when i get a day off.
I'll have a bash with the rom your using as its got the camera in already but i'd still like to know how to do it myself.
Now where'd i put that cup of coffee?
oh and i find with the pkg tool i have to delete the rgu files to avoid the hv registry errors in buildos hope that helps
It says they are missing for most of them anyway.
Please watch this.
to get my pkgs to work i found that i had to uncheck prefix files and leave all others checked, then after creating the pkgs i delete the rgu files

Problem with an extracted ROM

Hello,
I extracted Schap's ROM 4.31, no problems until that.
But when I want to reconstruct it with Ervius package tools + Build OS, without adding any package (so no cooking if I can tell that...), there are some problems when it come to the last process, the "Registry file processor and hive builder.". It tell me that : 'InitRegistry FAILED in file ".\Registry\1dc3da02-499f-4547-9fd2-78cddfda9c62.rgu" within a few lines of line 1.'
So, I looked at this RGU file, and indeed, the file is empty ! And there are many other RGU in the same way !
So, what is the problem ? Bad extraction ?
Thanks in advance.
Ok,
Nobody wants to help me ?
Why ?
up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been posted in the ROM kitchen thread and the reconstructing ROMs thread many MANY times. You can't re-cook certain chef's ROMs, because they don't include .RGU files.
Hope this helps!
Thanks you very much Alex, I read the Kitchen thread, but may me be not wholly...
So, is there a possibility to include the missing rgu's from other rom ?
Just another question,
during the past weeks I reconstructed my factory ROM, there wasn't all the RGU files too, but however, this has worked... Why ?
Thanks a lot for your great patience...

Some directories just won't have RGU files, which is ok. This is what you've encountered with your factory ROM.
RGU files are important because they contain registry information. Taking them from another ROM is going to be a very painful process, and that's also where 75% of the customization takes place, so losing the important registry information from the original ROM will make it less than useful.
For more information about RGU files, read my OEM Primer from my OEM Package Tutorial...
Hope this helps!
Thanks you Alex,
I already read your OEM primer tutorial.
In fact, if I wanted to cook the Schap's ROM, it's because the included Arcsoft MMS program doesn't work. So, I wanted to include yours (the last version 5 cab), and others app, eg. MS voice command and Transcriber.
I'm very ashamed...

Why be ashamed? It's good that you tried something new and even if it didn't work as expected, it was a learning experience.

Changing Default Keyboard Skin - WM6.1

Hi all,
I need some advice on doing something that was fairly easy to do in WM6.0 ROMs, which is changing the default keyboard skin by replacing the msim.96.dll.0409.mui file.
I've tried a number of WM6.1 ROMs and this does not work. The only way I have been able to get the .mui file working was to re-cook the ROM and using an OEM package. Even after I re-cook with a new keyboard skin and try to replace the .mui file it does not work. Very strange.
Any of the cooks out there have any ideas why this is? I did a reg. dump of a ROM with and without the keyboard OEM package but did not find anything specific that would show why this does not work.
Appreciate any feedback. I know this works without any issues in WM6.0 ROMs.
Thank you.
Don't know what your doing wrong buddy but most of the time you need to cook the new .mui file in like I always do and i have no issue with the WM6.1 roms ever using the grey keyboard that I always use in my roms. To get this straight your dumping the rom and then copying the new .mui file right over the old file if there is one at all then rebuilding the rom? that is the only way it will work you can't copy over it once you have rebuilt the rom it needs to be cooked in.
austinsnyc,
Thanks for the response.
If I cook the .mui file in a ROM it works fine. The problem is not being able to replace the file (even though the file is overwritten). I was able to do this in WM6.0 ROMs but it doesn't seem this is possible in WM6.1 ROMs and I just wanted to confirm it.
So if I dump, change file, re-cook, works fine. I guess I'll have to do that with any of the new WM6.1 ROMs I end up running.
Thanks again.

Actually you can change it easily via cab install but you need to sign it first. You can try the attached cab, and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1610615&postcount=3 for other skin.
Try this. First import the attached Keyboard Cert registry file (use dotfred's task manager which does registry editing, or resco registry editor). Once you do that, you should be able to use the various keyboard cabs. I've attached one that has like 20 keyboard styles you can choose from (uses mortscript to do this). Choose the one you want, soft reset, and presto...

Just2Clean Kitchen Files

As promised, here are Just2Clean's kitchen files. You will need to use either JustClean's EasyBakeOven or Bepe's kitchen in order to use them. Just download either of the kitchens, delete the OEM and SYS folders and replace them with these.
This does NOT include my micro Extended ROM, but if you've flashed my ROM, you already have it installed.
Linky It's the Working_Folder
sorry still kinda new to all this ROM cooking...
So this is a newer build of the OS?
I the just2clean kitchen you released I want to keep all those packages I have in there so all i have to do is add the files from this OEM folder to that one and replace the sys folder... am I right?
Thanks. I will try to cast some magic with this
(for personal use, of course )

This is not my newest build, this is the Just2Clean that I had already released. If you want to get a newer build, search for EasyPortOven 2.2 and use that to port over the ROM. It will change the ROM, though, as the SYS folder has been optimized. You'll learn more about this in one of my upcoming cooking lessons.

One of the packages you chose is probably not compatible with Just2Clean. To make it compatible, read the error and it will tell you. If a duplicate file is found, delete the extra file from the OEM folder or the SYS folder.
when i put the OEM and SYS folder from the Just2Clean in the working folder of the Kitchen, the Kitchen won't even start up.
- reinstall of VC -> no start up.
- mixing of old and new OEM and SYS -> no start up.
- using the old oem and sys -> all works great

old kitchen works great but i cant use these files. same as GhostRider.

What do you mean by not start up. There are MANY files and batch files and programs that work together as a kitchen. You'll have to be more specific. Perhaps a screenshot of what happens.

You can't choose packages because the packages are all stored in the OEM folder. I forgot to mention that. Don't delete the OEM folder, just the folders in the OEM folder have the same name as the files in the other new OEM folder...
when I put the new files in the OEM and SYS Folder it say's BuildOS.exe don't work anymore, The Program has an Problem, and must be Closed.
Then the same with Buildxip.exe don't work anymore.
Ghostrider
That means that there's a conflicting name on an RGU, DSM, or inside an option.xml. If you do not go through BuildOS, Buildxip will crash because it will not have something to build in the first place, as it's BuildOS's job to get the files where they need to be.
i'm sorry but you are treating us (me and Ghostrider) like an idiots.. i'm quite sure that problem is with the package.
you write clearly "delete oem and sys and replace them" when i do this - same thing as on Ghostriders screenshots happens.

I'm sorry if I insulted you, but I don't see how I treated you like idiots.
All I've done is ask you questions to get a better idea of what's going on. It works on my end, but it doesn't on your end. I can't magically know what's going on without asking questions. I'm sorry if you felt insulted by my questions. It was never my intent. I just wanted to ask questions to find out why it wasn't working on your end so I could help fix it. I just rememebered something, too. Just before I packed it up I was messing around with something... look for the OEM packages that have both an UPX version and a non-UPX version. I THINK that one I uploaded may have one. If it does, one of the packages may have duplicate RGU's and DSM's. If it does, keep the one that starts with A and delete the pair that starts with Z. Also you can delete the UPX version of that package altogether. Tell me if that works.

Edit:
I have Just2Clean and MMS 3.5.1.24.R2 as UPX and non UPX deleting the UPX version did't do it. I deleted both the UPX and non UPX version in the Kitchen files for Just2Clean, and now it is working.
I don't have the Just2Clean Customization
Ghostrider
Great to hear!
There should be a Just2Clean customization there also. It's labeled "Customization - Just2Clean."
I think what he meant is that Just2Clean customization packages don't work.
I did as you suggested by deleting the .rgu and .dsm starting with Z, but that still didn't work.
The option XML file needed to be edited because it pointed to those Z files not the A files.
Not sure if just deleting the .dsm and .rgu starting with A would've worked because I didn't try that.
After deleting the UPXed packages everything works for me now.

A plea to all ROM Cookers!

Guys,
we love what you do, and we couldn't do it ourselves, *but* most of us could (and would like to) remove/add the odd OEM pkg or so. And be honest, that's probably how you all got started, too.
However, these days, it isn't possible to easily do. Hypercore Kitchen (which is wonderful) doesn't work for either Ranju or PDAViet ROMs, and I've had limited success with other recent ROMs.
I for one (and I know I'm not alone) would love to make my own custom ROM based on some of those out there, but because of problems, can't.
So - PLEASE - as well as your ROM, please post your kitchen somewhere.
Thank you!!
-Paul.
I second this request. I am currently using a custom builtRom I built using hypercore from an earlier Ranju WM6 ROM and although it works well I always want the latest ROMs and the WM6.1 roms I have tried are so much faster.
Any help would be much appretiated.
Would love to see this too.
I Think Ranju's ROMs are great but I would love to be able to remove total commander and a couple of other bits and pieces.

Thanks for the tip, I have taken the rgu.cab file and now have them incorperated into the OEM folder after running pkgtool. However I still get an error that comes up when i use any uild rom tools. It runs through all the files fine but after i have "pressed any button to continue" it comes up with an error about the partition and then says it is safer to abort.
Could you let me know if you have successfully rebuilt a personal rom and exactly what tools you used.
Thanks
Dan
