Hi everyone,
I installed a new rom from Helmi's .90 kitchen and everything works great, I strongly recomend it. One thing I have noticed is that I can not change the settings files for the programs that are installed via the kitchen. For instance I am trying to change the english.language.ini file for PocketCM but the file properties show that it is read only and (in ROM). Other programs do the same. I have tried to change the properties but it wont let me. I dont think it has anything to do with it but I do have the ext rom unlocked. Is this normal for ROM programs or am I missing something.
I have tried searching and have not come up with something so I dont know if this is something with me and my device. I have reflashed twice with the same effect.
I have an HTC Apache/XV6700
Thanks everyone, you guys are amazing. Timmay!!!

Hi guys
Ive recently got my jammin and have found that without installing the extended rom the device speed is alot better.
Bu theres 1 prog in the extended rom that i use alot which is the phonepad ...Ive found the cab located in the rom but the problem is the cab also install the voice app / pdf viewer and java app.
Is there a cab available thatll just install the phonepad and nothing else?
Thanks
if you post the cab we can easily extract the parts you don't want, or you can do it yourself with WinCE Cab Manager
Ok brilliant ive attahced the cab
Thanks alot
This cab doesn't install the voice cab or anything like it.
It makes 4 shortlinks and addssome values to the register, that's all it does.
so it just installs the phonepad...is there anyway of deleting all the etxra links .etc .etc and just it installing the phonepad ?
No it doesn't install the phonepad, in fact it doesn't install any software at all, this cab.
However you can delete the shortlinks, located here; /windows/start menu/
But remember you still don't uninstall/delete the actual software.
Ah , ok ....so do you know the phone pad (touchpad thng for texts .etc .etc) ....Not smartdialing program...Is this actually located on the rom itseld or does it install from the extended rom.
As i thought it was installed form the extended rom but now this as got me thinking its hard encoded in the rom itself?
Is this rite on HTC devices?
Thanks
The touchpad itself is included in the rom, however I've seen you can enable/disable some of those input pads with some registry settings.
Unafortunatly I don't know what settings and if it can be done on all htc devices.
On my wizard it's enabled by default.
ok ,Thanks for the help / info
Hi,
I have a tmobile wing flashed with touch-it 2.3. The JAVA midlet manager is part of the ROM, it is an old version and I would to install a newer version. My question is, if I install a newer version will the installation be similar as an upgrade on a desktop computer or will I have 2 different versions (I am not sure it this would cause some interaction problems that is why I have tried this yet)
Or Is there any way to remove a application included in a ROM?
Thanks!
not sure about the upgrade part .. i assume the program will auto know that a newer version is being installed and will remov old ver.
as far as removing from rom, by my knowledge, the only way to do that is by extracting the rom usind the kitchen for that rom and recompiling it with stuff u want .. for this however u need to hav chef permission and kitchen
I am new with the whole cooking/flashing world, so I am not sure about the cooking thing. I will have to read about this. I guess I will have to try the upgrade thing.
Well, I tried and instead of upgrading the existing the older version of the application I have 2. This is a bit annoying since I have to install it on my already very limited internal memory. Is there ANY way to go around this, either by actually writing over the older version or removing it?
Help please!
EDITED
just found anoher thread about it soz, pls mod remove this

Hi all:
i've been playing around with some ROMS lately; some of us do use the arabizer application which enables you to read and write arabic language and also installs some other minor arabic programs on your device.
i have noticed some issues with some ROMS and need help in solving them, here are my observations:
Diamond Roms till V8 work with arabizer, but ofcourse the keyboard issue doesn't allow you to use the arabic keyboard and you need to install the IM default cab to get it to work.
Death Roms till v4.1 do not work at all; you just get install unsuccessfull even before it starts to install on first block, tried:
1- install from fresh upgrade didn't work
2- install from hard reset did not work.
3- installed net cf 2 and chose as default, did not work
4- installed net cf 3.5 on cf 2 and chose 3.5 as default did not work
5- tried on another handset still doesn't work
6- tried intsall on SD card
iat first i thought it was framework issue but i think it's not, it has to be something in the core which i know nothing about.
tried the ryV5 rom also has the same problem as death roms and would not install.
Can anyone help find a solution to this please as it would be great to get it to work on death and ryV5 roms and should be intresting to know why such application would not work, it might help in near future for other applications.
note: i chose to make a thread about this as i cannot post same question in each ROM thread
Regards,
Hasso

I have installed In4mobility software on all of the cooked 6.1 ROMs and it is running fine. The only issue I have is it always defaults to Arabic Keyboard, even when in same session but switching between programs. Other than that it is running great. I would install on Main Mem,,,,, avoid installing on SD card, it will become buggy, and might cause freezing.
Do a search for Informobility software. It is not that expensive.

i know it works but not the keyboard, and it crashes the device n regular bases and makes it really slow
imaginet arabizer is always the best choice
So i started building this rom for my AT&T Tilt a few days ago and i have run into a few issues i was wondering if anyone else has encounterd them and knows a fix. Ive been doing alot of searching and googleing and haven't found alot of answers.
1st i started out using alex's 3.03 winmo 6.1 htc rom. I had issues with the camera not working with radio 1.65 so i flashed to radio 1.64. But i was still having a problem with the device not doing a soft reset unless i physically push the button. So i searched around and my findings lead me to believe there is no fix for this so i need to use version 3.02. Then i went and got version 3.02 and when i rebuilt the rom everything seemed fine but there is no links to the hardware buttons in the settings applet for buttons. Is this a common issue i cant find anything about this anywhere??!
2nd when building packages sometimes they dont work... Ive built a few packages and they all turn out fine Ive run into some problems with the shortcuts but editing the initflash by hand fixes it everytime. Some packages ive made though just dont work, they install fine but when i run the app i get a component missing error, the weird thing is the cabs i used to intall these packages have no issues what so ever, an example would be frNotepad 1.2 if anyone has ever tried to turn that into a package.
Last question i have is how do you set up a defualt theme I noticed the htc theme package in alexs oem packs sets its self up as the defualt theme i looked through it did a search on cusTSK didnt find much info. So i tried to rename my theme to htc.tsk and just replace the theme file in the htc theme package but that just screwed the whole theme up.

Look for the file 47d2a96e-f0dd-40e1-8f5b-a8cdc083a165.rgu and in it is the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys. This contains which application the hardware button will launch when pressed.
For the reset issue, 3.03 ROM have some problems. Upgrade to a more newer ROM. I created my own LITE ROM Folder similar to Alex. You can check my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399733. It is based on 3.28 official ROM.

When building packages, double check the initflashfiles.txt to make sure the shortcuts are correct. For the component missing error, CAB and ROM Packages is not entire identical. In CAB, you can create the shortcuts without the need for the included LNK in the packages and initflashfiles.txt, but for ROM Packages, you need both files. So basically if the CAB works, it doesn't mean the ROM Package will also work.
This is my first ROM I'm releasing.
I have created a Danish WM6.5 ROM with 85 MB free ram
I have done everything I can to make it stable and fast. I'm using it myself and I'm very happy with it.
This ROM is based on the latest Danish stock ROM I could get hold of.
I have removed some of the stock programs, and have added the following programs:
Code:
Bluetooth notifier
Mortscript (Un-Installable)
The ROM is extendir enable. You can everything about extendir here
This ROM is created with ervius visual kitchen
I thank everyone that have made this possible.
If I'm distribution anything that I shouldn't or haven't mentioned any people that I should then please let me know. It is not out of respect of other people, it is simply because I either didn't realize that I have used some of their stuff or because I have forgotten.
To use this ROM you must have a storage card for the initial flash.
First you extract the contents of the lagerkort.7z to the root of the storage card, so that you end up with a folder called extendir with a few folders and one file inside.
If you want some cabs to be installed as part of the new flash then copy then to the extendir\setups\. only cabs that are in a sub folder in setups will appear. So make one and only one level under setups for the cabs. (they will not be installed automatic, you get to chose which you want to install, so all all you cabs if you want)
Then you flash the ROM and leave the storage card in for the first 2 boots.
on 1st boot after you have calibrated the screen the customization starts, WM looks awful here, don't worry about this, as this step will extract all of the missing WM files to to the extendir folder.
On 2 boot the preset installer will boot and you can chose a few extra cabs to install and the ones that you have added.
You can download the ROM from here:
4shared
You can download the extra package here:

Congratulation and wellcome new chef
I suggest you to include some pics because you will be ask for that
Cheers.
Thank you.

Danish rom with Manilla?
Would it be possible to create a version with Manilla? I would really love a danish rom with Manilla and HTC Weather...
Regards Ulrik
I possibly could create one.
But I recommend that you install Manilla after with a cab, or with zip files (in the extender folders) this should give the fastest rom. I can help create the scripts so that Manilla will install on first boot if you want?
hey man i can't get the hardware keyboard to input properly for æ, ø, å. I looked through your cabs but don't see a fix do you have one?
I tried this SkandinaviskTastatur5.CAB and XDA_JCEspi2005_Danish_Input_Kaiser.cab neither of which work. Let me know if you have a solution
I have a danish keyboard on my too, and the mappings are just fine on that one. So have no idea what could be wrong, unless there are more than one version of a danish keyboard. I access my æøå by FN and <UP><DOWN><UP> respectively.
I forgot to mention that I'm using a different rom to yours. Maybe you need a Danish WM 6.5 to get the hardware keyboard to work. If you could help me out in anyway that would be awesome cause it's a bit frustrating hunting around to find ? and stuff heh
Ahh that explains.....
I have no idea how to get the danish keys then. If I knew what to put in it I could create a CAB file for you, but I really have no idea what to put in to this cab...
I had the same problem when I used WWE roms, and never got it sorted.
@ Blindpet, try doing this:
Use a registry editor and change the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\Devicemap\Keybd\CurLang to 1044, this worked for me
I tried your ROM and overall its pretty good but i dont know if its my phone thats not set up properly but this rom have got a lot of screen lag though.
Anyway would be great with a proper danish rom for this great phone, keep up the good work
//KillerBee
EDIT: This solution doesnt work for me now.. I am not quite sure how you are supposed to change the HW keyboard language for a winmo 6.5 phone
