Hi. Sorry if it is a newbie question, but I did search a bit and didn't seem to find an answer. What is the benefit of upgrading -if possible- the radio? Anybody done it and can report on the effects? Thank You.
I can personally attest to better reception with the newer radio, for one.

Depends on what ROM you are using. Certain ROM's are dependent on certain radios.
In the past, different radio roms have affected signal strength, battery life, and device stability.
Very recently we've seen an AT&T rom that's tied to a specific radio version. This is new, and right now nobody is sure why that's the case.

I posted a thread about how this all works.

Thanks. Apparently can't be done from a non-windows OS. I use OS X.

Hi All,
Since most users don't frequent the "Universal Upgrading section" too often, if at all, I thought I'd post here too.

Good, Thank Bro....
Just upgraded the new stack, and I like IT...
?
Whats new in 1.18???
New???? the version is new??? ;-)
Did this upgrade some days ago, and found it is far better than the others, in the GSM connection and sound via my Headset. Just wanted to highlight that the Radio's seems to be provider specific performance, ie. a radio might be very good for one and disaster for another just because of the different provider they use. In another words if you don't complain then refrain from upgrade to other one

Thank you very much
I have a G4 Cingular 8125, with AT&T service and I seem to be getting a lot of the commonly mentioned issues with WM6 (TNT 1937). I get a lot of dropped calls, and a lot of missed calls.
I have a few questions as far as this goes. First of all, can I flash a radio to a G4 device? From what I've read it's only the IPL and the SPL that I can't flash... Also, what seems to be the best radio that most commonly doesn't have issues, and how do I go about flashing it?
I appologize if this is a repeated thread; I did try looking for info but I couldn't find much specific to the G4 device.
Any help would be appreciated!

YUP !
You can flash any Radio Rom to a G4 device as it does not include any IPL/SPL, Just run the Radio-only RUU directly and you're done.
Well the choice is all on user's experience. Some are happy with some while others are not,but the most stable and mostly recommended is the Radio 02.19.11.better try a couple of them and check which better suits you
Cheers
Great! I'll try this asap. Thanks very much for the feedback, and for not criticizing my potentially silly question!

First off, terribly sorry of this has been covered but I've been afraid to ask for the last few weeks and this might be why I had to return one Tilt already lol.
I understand that Radio's have the ability to completely alter your experience as in Battery life and overall performance. I also understand that reception could play a huge difference as well.
I am wondering if there is anything else I am missing? When is it appropriate to switch to another Radio when using a custom rom? Where can you download Radios? I think I may have seen a link on Dutty's beta site
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
okay I just found a radio sticky... just ignore this thread - i'm sure I will find my answers there... hopefully
lol
lol, thats what you need to do, search before you post, search before you post. Its good to see that you found your answer though.
Sorry.. truly sorry for asking such a dumb question. I have found and will use the NEWB flashing guide, but even there it doesn't suggest which ROM to use.
Jade? Maybe?
I have a ATT branded Tilt, latest crappy ATT 6.1 build and am ready for all of the improvements.
Since there are so many different ROMs of different flavors, it honestly is hard to tell which one to use in general.
Can someone make a good suggestion? I even saw off one of the linked site for the ROM images, one for the new touch HD?
Hoping for ease of use, speed, and better radio reception.
Thanks.. and again sorry for the newbie question

Hi, everyone thanks for all the excellent advice. I
need help. My att fuze turns the radio off after I end a phone call. What do i do to stop this?
thanks. [email protected]
Sounds like an unusual problem. Have you flashed a new radio, rom or are you on stock?
Also try posting in the official Q&A section of this forum as many other people may have the same problem / or your problem may have already been answered.
