if you don't want to create the shortcuts manually, use Total Commander, set it to virtual window mode, in the first window open the folder with your application, in the second window open the /windows/start menu/programs folder, switch to the first one, select your application, execute the command file-->create shortcut and confirm that it will be created in the /windows/start menu/programs folder. This way you can create shortcuts without editing any text files ...

Folder Shrtcut Links

Is there a way to create a folder shortcut link that can be opened using cLancher? i tried to make a link file for the \windows\start menu\programs\utilities folder but when i click it, an error message pops up.
I know iLauncher can open folders but i prefer cLauncher. Ive also tried the fexplorer way to open the folder (it works) but i was hoping to open the target folders w/o any 3rd party app used.
When you say you made a link do you mean that you did it manually? I don't use cLauncher but shortcuts to folders work on the device just like other shortcuts. eg if you manually did a shortcut to My Documents with the text
15#"\My Documents" it will open that folder. If cLauncher can't open it it sounds like a bug.

The best thing to do is search this forum on how to write your own shortcuts. It has been covered many times and all you need is notepad.
There was also a stand alone app by someone to make shortcuts.
I personally like my shortcut wizard in my common file dialog dll. You can download these
http://www.odeean.com/ORDsite004/Downloads/CommonDialogTester.exe
http://www.odeean.com/ORDsite004/Downloads/ORDcommonDialogDLL.dll
and put them in your program files directory. Once you navigate to the executable you wish to make a shortcut to you can hold down the stylus on it and select shortcut wizard. You can scan other executables or dlls on your device to find images for the icon of the shortcut. Once made, just re-name it to what you want and put it in your \windows\start menu\programs folder.
To get icons onto your device just look for any application you like the icons for. It can be a desktop app, it does not have to be a valid ppc app. Put the exe on your phone and my wizard will be able to scan it for icons. Just keep in mind that the exe will have to stay on your device for the image to still be available, so try find small ones.
edit:
I just realized you may want to change the icon for the actual folder that gets shown on the menu. If you do as I said above to make a shortcut to the programs folder you will be able to get any icon you want. open the .lnk in pword and remove the text [no arguments for folder shortcuts], I accidentally copy that text into folder shortcuts and it screws them up. You can't delete the actual folder "Programs" from that directory or else you loose the list of recently opened programs but the lnk to programs will open the desired folder.

Whats the PASSWORD?? n can u plz tell me as to how to use it??n where can i download more icons??
That looks like an icon overlay to me. With some work it might be doable but the whole os is limited to 15 such overlays, so it would be a bad idea to start hogging them.

Windows Mobile 6.5 - How to move Apps into Folders and Create Folders

Hello,
So I got Windows Mobile 6.5
When I go into the Start Menu, all my programs are at the bottom and I can't put them or drag them into a folder.
So my question is how can I make folders in the Start Menu and how to Put my applications into the folders.
Use file explorer or resco or total commander and go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Deleting from Start Menu
Hi All,
After using File Explorer to cut and paste programs into specific folders, the programs still appear on the start menu, even when they don't appear in windows/start menu/programs anymore. How do I get rid of these icons from the start menu? Thanks!
I believe it's the same as with 6.1, ..Start -> Settings -> Menus.. then just uncheck the boxes you don't want displayed in your Start Menu

make sure you cut the files by showing hidden and system files...
hold down on the item and choose "Move Down" that will take it off the main page. I am still trying ot get use to WM6.5 menu. I am not sure I really like it yet but it is very finger friendly.
Thanks,
SoBBie
PS I also noticed that you can not order the items in a subfolder. if you are in a sub folder and hold it down... then choose move to top... it will put it on the main page in the first position.
Thanks,
SoBBie
Great advice, I'm slowly learning WM. However when I hold down my finger to bring up the cut, paste etc menu it does not list paste if the folder I'm pasting in is full. Instead it thinks I'm selecting one of the files in that folder. When there is space in an half full folder I can bring up the menu correctly because my finger is over empty space in that folder. not sure I can explain my problem too clearly but does somebody understand this problem and tell me what I'm doing wrong ?

Solitair ? (Solved)

Where is Solitaire ?
I guess it's left out because it can't be controlled by finger (yet)?

Windows Directory
Hi,
Sorry for my stuppid two questions.
Where is the exact win directory and how can you create a shortcut to the application ?
Regds

Using file explorer.
Make sure you are viewing internal memory, go right to the root. The windows folder is there. (slight pause as loads of files!)
Tap and hold and select copy, navigate to \windows\start menu\games tap and hold and paste shortcut. You can also tap and hold, select rename and remove the 'shortcut to' text.

Desktop short cut

Hi, how can I create a link to a specific folder on the desktop? I downloaded folder organizer as I thought it could do it but can't figure out a way, either with that or the default inbuilt shortcut options.
I'd like to know too.. How would I go about making a shortcut to some pdfs or some folders?
I use ES File Explorer and just tap and hold a file or folder then choose "Shortcut" from the pop-up menu to add it to a home page. Easy as pie.
No way, that was easy, ta.
