Well I understand what you mean by simulating a keypress but I can't understand what you mean by it.
I could write you a small app in .net cf 2.0 to keypress but I don't know if that's you want.
Why not create a shortcut to the actually applications in the windows folder? I have not tried it, but i believe that they should be accessable...

"x#" is the number that is assigned to that key by the keymap, if Long_VolDown.lnk didn't have it, it wouldn't work; I used "x" because my phone's in the bedroom and I don't feel like getting up to check.

No, that's wrong. x is the number of ASCII characters after # allocated to command-line arguments:
[num of chars]#[command line] [optional parameters] Look here for more info...
@vjgrace: I don't understand what you are looking for. Can you explain what exactly you want to do?

@kartam,
Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for...A simple exe that presses 121 and a simple exe that presses 195. Weird, but that is it...the reason (AEBPlus). Currently I am running xmacros (xbar) to perform these actions but AEBPlus doesn't recognize xmc files. I am unable to have 2 more keypress options on one button because I am running 2 xmc files on the camera button...If I had 2 exe files to do these keypresses that would do it, I would be able to have 4 options on one button, I could use AEBPlus fully.
I have Vis. Studio (VS) and I have searched before to do this without success (I am use to C++ and VB, but nothing related to Smartphones). It is such a simple task, I couldn't find how to simply build 2 exe files to perform simply one keypress each (one for 195 keycode and one for 121). If you could do this it would be great, or if you could just give me an idea for VS, I could do it myself . There will be little to no code for VS, I just need to know what to use: language, parameters/arguments, and which properties, if you know what I mean.
@ Nitrogenious,
Thanks for replying, the above description should clarify, I hope .
@phatman81,
Tried but unsuccessful, but thanks for comments.
Thanks all for comments!!
Couldn't you use the keybd_event WinAPI call in a C++ program? I've never used it in Windows Mobile before, but according to the API documentation, it says it works.

Good suggestion, thanks!! I will check into it, if it works THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to find a solution for quite some time.
Anyone knows how to use this software? It seems very powerful but not sure how to use it. Description is mostly in Japanese.
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/xianon/00000000/
I tried to use it to map hardware keys on at&t Fuze (for HOME and BACK keys).
Thank you for "sharing" this ....
It is actually quite easy to use....
Go to where you save the application (e.g. \program files\SortInchKey)
and there is a "sortInchKeySettings.exe to setup which key to assign
Click SortInchKey.exe once to activate the program twice to de-activate
I can't make "Hold" "Win" to work but "Double" "Win" working fines. Let me know if you find the trick.
Hope that help you.

Can you share how you configure in sortinchsetting ?
About voice command, it does not work correctly on my Topaz, guess it's just a setting I don't get.
It also tells me that I must asign a button. If I go to settings, more, personal, buttons I see a list with six times the word "knoppen" that's dutch for buttons. The last one in the row is asign to cancel call key (end call key), if I put that button about three seconds it will lock the phone. Know I really like to asign the call key to Voice Comannder. Wich of the six buttons is that button?
Does anybody worked with this program before?
Use a file explorer like Resco of Total commander... go to Program files on your device (this app must be installed onto device not SD) look for the app folder and the exe file, copy it and paste shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu
You will then see the shortcut for the app to activate it... with BT headset, you wont need anything... press your activate button on your headset and it will work
You should not discuss torrents and Warez here... You are using an illegal version of MSVC...

Also, use TopazKeyboardController to assign a button.
Where can I get a Total Commander? Can you do it with out Total Commander
I've installed voice commander before and found an icon in Settings-more settings, personal (translated right into English from Dutch) Assigning a button won't work into settings, personal, buttons.
Where can I find TopazKeyboardController (it's the stock keyboard, right?)
Can you use this program with out a headset?
I'm using Voice Commande 1.6 french with no problem.
During install, it says it failed : normal, it has not been able to assign a hardware button to it.
Go to Settings->personal-> buttons and assign the only button you have to 'voice command'.
Now you can press the phone button for about 2 secs and you'll hear a beep and view a microphone in the notification area telling you that voice command is waiting for a vocal command.
Cheers,
Olivier.
I've used a app called shake and save, so you can find a attachment.
Wich button do I have to asign? Non of them are working. I like to use the dial up (call) button for voice command on my Touch Diamond 2.
Is there any change to get a Dutch version. I'm now running a US 1.6

Thnx for the zip
I've istalled your cab for the TopazKeyboardController. Can't find it anywhere on my device? I still can't assign a hard key to Voice Command. Please look at my screen shots a couple posts back.
I've allready installed sdkcerst, I even re-installed it.
EDIT:
I've found the topic about this keyboard controller, read it and tried it out. It works. Thnx for helping.
There is a 1.4 version in this forum of keyboardcontroller.
Also it requires another cab to work - sdkcerts.cab -install first.
the setup can be found on the settings-other selection from Manilla.
I assign the power button double click to MSVC - works great!
It works great with the keyboardcontroller I'm using this moment. Still looking for a dutch version but this is oke for now.

Is there a reason why you give download links for the apps as opposed to going to the official download sites for the apps? Is there a difference?
Thanks for the instructions, I have installed this on my HD2 with the latest stock HTC ROM.
I have followed them to the letter, but I cannot get the final setup to work.
It prompts you to click the Vlingo button and say "Search cinema tickets"
I long press the send key but nothing happens . I have checked the processes that are running after I have pressed the button and I can see:
vlManager.exe
vlingoVoice.exe
Any ideas?
Thanks

DO NOT INSTALL THIS.
It doesn't work very well at all and its completely messed up all of my hardware buttons.
Do not bother giving it try. Just have to wait for Google to release their voice control solution on WinMo
really annoyed now - prob going to have to do a hard reset >:<
Finally installed and working (sort of) on the HD2
I followed the directions in the first post but could never get the long_press send key to function with the app. It just stopped functioning with voice command. The directions did allow me to assign the Button one which I created by the reg edit. This allowed me to at least get to the point where you push the long send and say "search concert tickets" but the listen notification bubble never appeared. I just clicked on OK to close.
I then made a quick link to Vlingo.lnk in /program files/vlingo. The first time I press the quick link I get the screen again asking me to say "search concert tickets" and I click ok. From that point on the quick link opens up the "Listening window" and the program functions normally. It is set to close with key or silence, so it will close after you speak if there is not a lot of back ground sound. Just get it to search for anything and then open menu/home at bottom for help, options etc. Do not set to close with key only as the key does not work.
Messy but it works. Here is a not very good icon if you need one.
UPDATE EDIT: Not working for SMS. It says it sends the text message and it shows in text program as sent, but they never arrive. It will do searchs. Don't waste your time!
Trying to get icon to upload as png but it is getting
changed to a jpg image by the uploader? Sorry!
i am looking for a software i can use on my hd2 that, as im driving, i can dictate some notes and print the text files out later to put in files.
maybe this is not the best?
i am also using voice command on the hd2 so i dont want that messed up.(unless there is a better option).
a couple things that i dont have tweaked (dont know how) is to have the voice command announce phone calls as " john smith from mobile" like it did on my old phone. (it just rings here). Also, would like appointments mentioned rather than just the tone as i used to get.
thanks in advance

I did all of this except I copied every value from the existing key called 40C6
into key 40C1 and modified the string to read "(Long hold Send key)" without quotation marks.
When I started Vlingo it skipped the button setting page and went directly to the voice test (search concert tickets) page.
It works but it will lock-up when I stop using it until I power down and back up.
You will have to forgive me if I type anything like a noob cause I am.
tried everything and am wondering if someone has a piece of advice

does vlmanager.exe need to be running first ? I wonder if someone found a different version of a vlingo cab that works. I am on the elegancia rom and am curious if the people who have managed too get this to work could mention their rom versions. thanks to all.
There is a new WVGA version that came on the new Tilt 2 ROM in Rhodium section. I have been trying to make a cab, but am having issues getting it to connect to the server. If anyone can help me review and modify some of the libraries or dependancies, we can get a new working version made for WVGA devices.
Hey qpr1991, great info. What hd2 do you have - UK or T-mobile? What ROM do you use? Do you know the build-number of your windows 6.5? Do you know what radio you are using? What network are you on? I have to still use my old smartphone because I can't get vlingo to work on htc hd2 yet. I've followed your instructions many times and I am sure they work great, and I am willing to adapt my hd2's configuration to match yours enough to get vlingo working. If you are still around I'd love to hear from you. IF ANYONE GOT THIS TO WORK I'd like to ask you the same questions and maybe we can all cobble together a config that works. Thanks all.
How I finally got Vlingo working on HD2
Pick the Android build of your choice and install it on your HD2, Go to the market and download Vlingo. Works like a charm and you can play Angry Birds in the time you save trying to get it to work in WinMo.
I see Johntheboatcat has a T9193 hd2 - I wonder if qpr1991 also has the T9193? Maybe that's why you guys got it 'mostly working.' I'll look into this, and see why a rhodium and a T9193 would work but not the T8585. I'm still interested in seeing Vlingo work on the hd2. I would love to help with that rhodium cab - I don't know what I could do as far as getting it to connect to the server properly other than regedits or swapping files or .dll's with other cabs to see if that would work. I can also write mortscripts to stitch together partial functionality into something that works. Thanks again.

Hi Johntheboatcat: is that the WinMo Rom you were using when you had partial success with Vlingo? If not, do you know what it was? That's good advice about the Android version of Vlingo. Vlingo is one of the first apps I put on an android build - it is great.
I have the tilt2 with stock rom, vlingo works well, installed plus and still works great. I can say "text ??????" comes up fine, press and hold talk button again, speak my message still works great. but when I click on send nothing happens. I can press and hold talk and say "search for free to air" still works great. just won't send a text message.
Hi there
As you may know, if your SWC buttons are connected to the headunit through native canbus (the specific one to your car, with opened door info, aircon info, and so on), you can't remap them using de key study app (it's only for resistive SWC input).
Unfortunately my car has the up-down buttons replicating the left-right ones, so I have 4 buttons but only 2 functions. I would like to remap the up-down buttons to another function but I'm not pretty sure wich part of the firmware would I have to mod.
Does someone know if the canbus SWC codes are managed in mtccanbus.apk? Maybe mtcmanager.apk?
I searched in mtccanbus.apk but I only found code regarding parking radar, door info, aircon....
Thanks in advance.
Same here -> All the buttons are preconfigured and not changable.
mtce-utils can remap those buttons and the ones it can't, they may be mapped to native Android functions via Keylayout. (Try App Buttonmapper)

I had two buttons which did the same and figured out, they were executing inbuild Android functions. (in-app menu, back-button).
Those can't be simply remapped by any tool, but altered via Android keylayout. Google it.
Android uses a keylayout similar to the Windows keyboard layout config.
Try executing "keyevent" (google!) via terminal emulator.
Is mtce-utils available on it's own (without custom ROM)? I haven't been able to find it anywhere... I'm running a stock ROM that I'm customizing to my needs (trying to keep temps down), but I'd like to check out mtce-utils...
Thank you!

Hi Xorit
I have been investigating about the key layout feature but I couldn't do the modification:
1-I found an app in the play store to show the keycodes of each key. I got the keycode for the can-bus keys.
2-I found some .kl files somewhere in Android firmware, but I don't know wich should I edit. I searched for the can-bus keycodes but none was found in the .kl files.
Maybe can-bus key press are managed by a native microntek app? Like mtcmanager or mtccanbus?.
Regards.

GLK x204 2010
E class w211
GL W164
and one more that i cant remember, think it was a C class.
Works fine on c-class S203 / MY 2003
Is there any particularly good software to use to read out the button keycodes? I currently have a "dead" panel except for the AC-buttons, so only steering wheel keys are working as of now, and it's bugging me...
In Hal9K 3.1 you can activate an option somewhere (Mod Settings...) where it says "Show Key Codes when pressed" or something like that. It helps a lot.
