Is it worth the extra £?: Class 4 or 6 SDHC - General Topics

Looking to buy a Kingston 8GB SDHC card.
Will there be any performance gain with using a CLASS 4 or 6 SDHC expansion card with my P3600 (Trinity) or is the read / write performance limited by the phone's chipset?

no the sd interfaces of these pda's cant even keep up with normal speed sd's
highspeed ones only help any for sdreaders

Thanks Rudegar

Memory cards

Just a quick question about memory cards. I have read on this forum that it is possible to run a 16gb class 6 high capacity secure digital card in a HTC Universal running a Windowmobile 6 Rom 2.09.01_BL__B_V1; can the same also be said for a 16gb class 4 high capacity secure digital card? I have found one on the net that I am thinking of buying but thought to ask before doing so. The item is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Integral-16Gb-SDHC-Class-Card/dp/B000ZOVB0Y/ref=pd_sbs_ce_title_9
I have a contract with O2 and have been informed I am due an upgrade, I have had a look at the O2 Orbit 2, nice looking device; what are the other names for this device as I am unsure?
Thanks for viewing and replies welcome.
Yes ,it support my Toshiba 8gb class4 very well!
the "class" on SDHC cards only marks their speed.
it's the "guaranteed minimum consecutive write speed" in MByte/s
So a class 6 card must be able to handle 6MB/s write speed. It may be a lot faster, but if it's slower you can return it as defective.
The only difference between a class 2 and a class 6 card is that one uses better memory chips than the other, so it can receive/transmit data faster. The interface / layout / pinout / logic / data structure is all the same.
It's like 12x and 52x CD-R. You can use both in any drive that supports either, just the one gets the job done a little faster than the other.
Of course that the card can handle 30MB/s doesn't neccessarily mean your universal can, but it should work (at the universals maximum speed) nontheless.
I'm using a sandisc 16GB SHDC class 6 card at the moment with a Crossbow rom, runs very well.

Memory card dilema

ok i want to buy a 8GB or higher memory card for my phone but transfering all that data can be a pain on slow cards, i know that for a fact, i like speed so i was wondering is class 6 really the fastest in MicroSDHC and is the Fuze compatible with Class 6 cards?
The Fuze should be compatible with any class of speed...it just can't use all the speed since the bus is maxed out with the class 2 cards. The higher classes only shine when using a card reader.
thanks for the info, but only class 2, jeez thats low
True, but it's more than enough for the pocketpc, it just drags when copying files on/off the device.

thanks for the info mate

Micro SDHC Card

Hey, I heard there is a difference between Class 6 to Class 2 / 4 ..
Someone said that Class 6 Better for APP2SD, is that correct?
I've seen here 16GB memory card CLASS 6:
http://cgi.ebay.com/T6t6-TOPRAM-16G...e_Internal&hash=item4cec20985f#ht_5021wt_1165
Wich memory card better for APP2SD with a lot of memory?
If you have any recommendations for memory cards write here. Prefer to pay with Visa and with PayPal. Thanks .
There are bloody loads of threads on this already. Have a browse.
Yeah but I search for buy one .
I want to know wich memory card better for APP2SD with a lot of memory .
Really, for the average user, class 4 is plenty fast, but class 2 will work without issues.
Class 2 cards have slower read write speeds, and could affect the speed of some apps.
That being said, you shouldnt run into too many issues and apps2sd will work on your card.
what about class 6 ?
I want a memory card with 16GB and work well with APP2SD .
I've seen even a memory card with Class 10. Is it worth buying?
16GB CLASS 6 :
http://cgi.ebay.com/T6t6-TOPRAM-16G...C_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item4cec20985f
16GB CLASS 10 :
There is nowhere else that I can buy this memory card with worldwide deliveries ?
I prefer to pay via Visa . I don't want to pay via PayPal
That class 6 TOPRAM card you are looking at is slower than my Sandisk 16gb Class 2 card (see here). It's also more expensive too (see here).
It still exceeds the class 6 minimums, but not by much.
Regards,
Dave
Then wich card I need to take ..
Evreyone say that highr class better for App2SD
What about 10 class card ?

Difference in micro sdhc class

Hi,
I currently own a Transcend 32 gb microsdhc card class 4. I'm reading a lot about the difference in classes and the affects on performance.
If i would buy a 32 gb microsdhc class 10 card, will i notice any difference in performance, and how much will this affect the performance of my Sensation?
Thanks

I have a 16gb class 10 Lexmark. And recently upgraded to a Sandisk 32gb class 4. The speed is a noticeable to me, but liveable. But it also depends on the brand you buy as well. I've downloaded apps like sd booster to speed up the SD card, but it's not bad at all.
You will only notice any differce in apps, that are using the sd cad (like when musicplayer loads your songs or when you transfer apps from internal memory to sd card) . I don't think that there is any systemcache or something on the sd card.

[Q] SD card Support

Which Class of MicroSD does the HTC Explorer support??
Can it support UHS-1 cards or just limited to Class-10 cards??
p.s. If you use either of the cards on your device, post a speedtest here just so i can see the difference!!
Thank you
yes it supports UHS-1.
basically UHS-1 have better performance against Class 10 SDHC since it has higher read/write speed.
and if you're looking for their read/write speed.
you can check out some Sandisk or Transcend MMC's specs before buying.
