Do you think which I should choose? - General Topics

I want to experience the new tech Touchflo in HTC touch. But my friend said that HTC Touch's real performance is not good.
So do you think HTC Touch is worth buying? Thanks!
Or I should wait for some new products?

This is probably one of the most perplexed questions one could ask themselves when referring to electronics, lol. It truly depends on what your needs and preferences are at the moment, lol. Dealing with phones and electronics in general, devices and it's capabilities changes, and keep in mind they are often tweaked and hacked frequently. I have an unbranded HTC Herald, and I questioned myself as to whether or not I should get the HTC touch, or dual touch. But truth be told, I tweaked my herald to the point where it behave like the touch. I don't want one now, lol. I like the slide out keyboard and that's so crucial to me. My point ... think about what your needs and preferences at the moment MORE than what type of devices are out now. You're better off that way. Hope this helps.

HD3 Mockup Theme on HD2

I think this looks really smart so would be delighted if someone could make a theme similar to this. Or infact if someone has already started to link me to that thread.

Nice concept...for the phone, I think I don't like the silvery part on the back...It's kinda too much...

Well officially there isn't any news about a hd3 at all, and the only unofficial rumor i have heard was that someone found a "hd3" name in some random system (what am i missing) so i doubt that we will see a HD3 for quite a time, and i am more than just pretty sure that it will not have the specs of that concept, as it seems too unrealistic for me
And when the HD3 comes, i am also pretty sure it will be shipped with WM7, and not WM6.5.x, since WM7 is the newest from microsoft, and also seems to be the most user friendly, which, whether you like it or not, is what gives the most customers Us powerusers is not the main audience, the casual user is
I will buy Win7 phone only if someone confirm some Win7 hack's or downgrade possibility to win6.5(.x) I dont wanna having cool, modern, but unuseless (restrictions) phone.
I think better is change fav platform to Android, coz it have future and it shoot itself to foot like Micro**** do.
Looks cool but a 4.7 screen is just too big I think.

I'd agree there. The HD2 has the screen size pretty much spot on. Any bigger and it's going to stop fitting in pockets and become a bridge device between phone and tablet PC.
If HTC want to make a tablet PC though, I'm fine with that As long as they make it out of strong alloy so i can use it to beat iPad fanbois round the back of the head with

not bigger
iam sure the hd3 stay whit same dimmention vs hd2

I am really interested in the green background.

lol i agree 4 LEDs is pretty crazy. why not just a xenon flash or something like that? apart from that.. looks nice. and yes probably a bit too big. i would think the same size as our hd2 now, maybe even a lil thinner, with the AMOLED or even super AMOLED from samsung would be really nice. would help save a lot of battery consumption too. then of course.. faster processor, more RAM. sweet!

Cold not be more agree!!
Hope HTC comes soon with something interesting for both platforms
I would probably go with the HD2, simply because of the much larger screen (which is also capacitive) and the 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The Rhodium is a fine device, and the keyboard is unparalleled, but the internal processor sucks to say the least, and the resistive screen cannot even be compared to the capacitive one on the HD2. Both devices are excellent though, so no matter which you choose, you can't make the wrong choice.

That's your real decision in this...do you need the (world's best) keyboard bad enough to accept some of the (still awesome) TP2's relative shortcomings? Or can you get as comfortable with typing/swyping on this big gorgeous screen as many of us have done now.
EDIT: and just so everybody knows (and as you can see), orb3000 has arranged for some custom scripting that auto populates any thread with "TP2 vs" in the title, with a post of his saying "Rhodium is much better in my opinion!"...automatically and immediately as soon as the thread is posted lol j/k...he's just very passionate about his qwerty, and with good reason!

Galaxy S2 returned, preordered Sensation

Hi!
I returned my Samsung Galaxy S2 back to the store and am now waiting for the HTC Sensation. While the Galaxy S2 is a nice phone, I really despise the TouchWiz. Even with ADW Launcher EX & WidgetLocker mitigating the terribleness of the interface Samsung has built, the stock apps still are very uncomfortable to use - especially e-mail, messaging and calendar are lacking. And most of their other attempts at apps aren't any better - dismal at best.
The back cover is unpleasant to remove which is peeving if you like to switch the battery to a fresh one (although spare batteries are not released till mid-june) or regularly move between different countries and therefore like to change SIMs (like I do).
I also would have preferred a capacitive home-button, instead of a physical switch.
Other bugs (which will probably soon be patched) are bothersome as well, like the 3G data connection regularly stalling - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097612
Specs-wise I think having a higher resolution screen will be a very nice addition, the lower amount of RAM & internal storage probably won't be all that noticeable. I wonder why HTC didn't include an HSPA+ radio, but I think that is something I can definitively live with.
Are any other Samsung Galaxy S2 expatriates lurking on this board? What were your Galaxy-experiences, why are you now waiting for the HTC Sensation instead?

I didn't mean to paint you as a fanboy. By the same token I'm not a fanboy either. Before the disaster that was the G2X my last five phone's were HTCs and I really liked all of them. I had to get the SGS2 because the Sensation wouldn't have been availbale before the G2X had to be returned to T-Mobile. I would have seriously considered the Sensation if that wasn't the case. I'm a phone geek which is why I'm following the Sensation; not to bash it. Both phones are going to have considerable strengths and weaknesses. We should be able to discuss them without threads turning in to page after page of "yes it is," "no it isn't." Peace.

I disappoint... Galaxy S II is much better!
Since 2003 I'm a HTC sure user but now I have to disappoint at all with you and with HTC!
I'm very sorry the new sensation is just considered worse than Galaxy S II but we have to admit this is the thuth!
1) Also if the Galaxy Display resolution (480x800pxl) is lower than htc sens (540x960) its technology is better than htc because is "amoled" and so we have a lower battery consuption, better coulor and luminosity, and better view when there is much sunlight
2) RAM: 1024Mb for Galaxy, 768Mb for htc: no words.....
3) Internal memory: 16Gb or 32Gb (depends by the phone version) for Galaxy while htc sens have got just 1GB! no words still!!
4) cameras: Samsung first one 8mpxl, second one (frontal) 2mpxl; for htc sens is 8mpxl the first one too, but 1.3mpxl the sencond one....
5) battery consuption: with a very similar usage Galaxy SII lasts about 2 full days, while HTC sens just 1/1,5days
I'm very sad to tell it but this time I'll change and I'll buy a Samsung...
Good decision OP, who cares about SamSux. I'll give give them 2-3 month and all hell will break lose in there. SamSux bashing SamSux, look at our development section phones isn't release and no clockwork mod yet and we have 3 roms already. That just tells you HTC is more superior than SamSux. Untill they change their filesystem, HTC will be prefer choice for dev community. Don't matter what spec they have.

I loved the fact that the Galaxy S2 is a very sleek design, thin and light. But the drawbacks - especially in the software area - are very obvious. Their replacements of stock Google apps are, in general, not better but much worse than the original. Plenty of bugs still plague the software - the current version of Music player causes random reboots, data connection is stalling all the time.
Sense (from what I could test on colleagues phones - mainly Desire HD) seems much more thought out and usable to me. I will, still, probably switch to a stock Android ROM, should one arise. But I don't want to be dependent on that.

While AMOLED certainly does produce excellent black levels and saturated colours (maybe even oversaturated), after owning a Nexus One with AMOLED since release I do think the drawback of the technology is the inevitable screen burn-in you get after a few months of use. Nothing that is really bothersome, but LCD technology certainly does have its advantages (besides the higher resolution)

The actual available application memory on the Galaxy S2 is about 2GB, the rest is formated as an internal SD card. In my situation, I typically have about 500MB of app space used - 2GB would have been a nice, but that will still leave me with plenty of headroom once my Sensation is here. A 32GB SD-card will take care of all other storage problems (mainly podcasts, music).

This will vary greatly, but the battery access cover on the Galaxy S2 is very flimsy and uncomfortable to remove. I always carry a second battery for my Nexus One, I will do the same for my Sensation. Changing batteries on the Galaxy S2 (as soon as replacements are available in stores) will be a hassle.

You may get flamed by some of the fanboys, but at the end of the day it's all about what feels good to YOU and stuff the rest. I again prefer the more solid feel and try to avoid "cheap" plasticky feel, plus have been put off by plenty of users in many forums I've been to who knock Samsung's lack of updates. Hopefully for you they sort this out. Good luck with your choice
I probably still have a month or 2 before the Sensation is available here, and am hoping for some positive news re the bootloader saga.

I currently have a G2x as well as the Atrix. Ordered the Sensation and the SGS2 as well. Been using both the G2x and the Atrix for a while now and so far, I'm inclined towards the Atrix even though it has the locked bootloader simply because Ive had too many random reboot issues, freeze issues with the G2x (even though I've returned it twice) and I'm not concerned about the light bleed issue.
Once I've received the SGS2 and the Sensation (This Tuesday woohooo!!), I'll have all 4 to test with side by side. Will narrow it down to the top 2 and those are the ones I'm keeping I usually have 2 phones (1 work, 1 personal). If anyone has any suggestions or want me to look at/compare something in specific, let me know.

I think from this thread you will get everyone telling you to get the sensation and the one on the SgS2 forum they will be telling you to get that
I say try both and decide for yourself, after all it's you that's using it
... ... ... ...
From all the reviews and tests I read on the net, SGS2 wins all the most important ones, but I'm thinking that HTC is always a better phone for the future becose developers tend to turn to HTC devices more that others.
So I think that with Sensation I will get more costume Roms and more unofficial develepment.
For me the most important is not the present speed of the phones, because I know that will change in the future with new roms and costume roms.
The most important for me is the Costume roms support and unofficial developers support.

Got my Sensation yesterday unlocked on Vodafone upgrade. I have to say that after using SGS2 for 4 weeks Sensation is little bit disappointment. Available memory out of the box with no apps installed is about 140MB (compared to 520MB on SGS2). Can't get used to new Sense UI but I've loved it on my old Hero. SGS2 also is much faster out of the box. Sensation feels nice in the hand, it's more "solid" compared to plastic SGS2 but seems to be a little bulky and not as sleek as SGS2. One thing i've found better on Sensation is wifi signal strength which is really good. As i am quite impatient person i don't wanna wait for unlocked bootloader too. I'm sorry HTC, but Sensation goes on sale. :/
Bear in mind that is my personal opinion.
Edit:
SGS is very easy to flash, you can even unlock it to sim free with no hassle. Regarding custom roms Samsung gave free SGS2 to Cyanogen team, so soon we should expect some CM7 love. Also MIUI port is coming soon.

Again, why can't these people use the search button to search for a "asked for not once, but more than a million times question"? Dude, this is really getting from irresponsible to stupidity... Please, use the search button...

Thank you for your verry helpfull post...
Well, I made up my mind and just bought the SGS 2 because of the better Hardware.
Thanks for the tips.
I'm searching for the best replacement for my good old "Super" HD2.

But without using any search buttons, it would seem.
I think there's another thread about that question somewhere.
I went back and forth on the spec for hours and hours. However, once I got to play with both phones in the store the answer was clear in a matter of seconds.
While you can't buy a bad phone between these two, you can certainly buy the wrong one for you. Optimized ROMS will find their way to both phones sooner or later, so I wouldn't worry about performance too much. How the phone feels in your hand or how you experience qHD vs SuperAMOLED+ is hard to change though. I highly recommend you go out and try both phones.
In all honesty, The Galaxy S II may have slightly better hardware, but TouchWiz ruins it. I know that you've already decided, but as far as overrall phones, no one beats HTC.
Hardware isn't slightly better, it's much better. Only metal casing, wifi strength and screen resolution (but not a screen quality) is better in Sensation. Personally as soon as I rooted my SGS2 I started using ADW Launcher. Now I'm using Regina 3D Launcher and really love it!
I don't care how good the hardware on the Samsung is compare to Sensation,I'll go with HTC everyday. All Samsung phone is a piss of ****, it feel like a toy ,cheap plastic, it'll breakdown in no time. Samsung always want to be ahead on tech and rushing their release making their phone plan rubbish.

I would have done the same thing if I could. I am with T-Mobile so I wouldn't get 3G from it so that would make it basically worthless to me. I am also a big HTC fan, I have only ever owned HTC Android phones since the G1 but the SGS2 does have better hardware specs. I am jealous of their ram and 21mbps data speed. If the Sensation came with those two things it would make it the perfect phone to me.

Is it crazy to buy a phone just for looks?

Just wanted to hear peoples thought on this...
What I meant by the heading is - I would for example take the Sony Xperia S over the Htc One X
Sony Xperia S
many people claim that the Sony Xperia S isn't all that good, but it looks wonderfull to me and the problems that people claim it has isn't such a bad thing... And apparently most of the stuff gets better with new firmware and/or over time so... is it crazy to choose that phone mostly over the other because of looks?
If I had the choice I would think you were crazy to choose it over the One X since I'm more into performance than looks.
But heck, its your choice, if looks are your thing, then go for it!
But IMO, the One X doesn't look bad ><
Comparisons
In all the comparisons they say the Htc is better than the Sony but why?
Isn't the dual core of the Sony enough still for years to come?(even for intense games)

Well it wouldn't hurt to have quadcore phones since games will eventually advance to a point where even quadcore phones will have trouble functioning.
IMO, I have no say against Sony or htc but if I had to side with one then it would be htc since I prefer their line of smartphones

That's what I'm most afraid of because I play quite alot of games and I will have the phone for a while, so if games get to intense on the sony I would be quite dissapointed... But also most of the best games isn't that intense on graphics i.e angry birds, minecraft, drag racing, death rally etc. So maybe it wouldn't bother me that much.
I'm more into performance than looks. Of cource, most Sony device look pretty good for user, especially for female user. Hower, what I think its function is not so good as its look.As for me, I would choose HTC.

Yeah but there is nothing at this moment that the htc can do that the sony can't do in terms of performance i.e no lag, play all games etc.
Anyway, it is not the question of crazy or not, just Personal preference.

Yeah I guess it is
What matters is that you're happy with your decision in buying that certain phone maybe it be for looks or it's performance.
Games wont fully require quad cores until a few more years

Yeah I had, still having alot of sleepless nights deciding on which phone I will be most happy with because like you said it's all depending on what I like and want in a phone... And I agree that games and many other things won't fully require quad cores.
true

yea i think it is wether you personally love the phone or not. but then you should also think logically "am i going to really just use this phone for looks? oh hey that looks cool. oh its just some crappy phone. that sucks" etc.

Yeah but the Sony Xperia S isn't just a good looking phone that sucks... It's performance is good also... I think I'm going to get the Sony.
Features is more important than look. Phones anounced in last few years has similar design, so it`s better to pay attention to features like USB host and good camera.

Luckily it has USB and a 12.1 MP camera
Idea is not so crazy. You can chose "better" one of them.
