Hi there,
I'm sure you've probably overheard someone before say "I've got someone calling me that I don't recognise, anyone know what country starts +33?". I have too and would like to resolve it.
Does anyone know of a piece of software or hack which, when the number is not recognised on an incoming call, display the name of the calling country instead of the contact name?
Thanks!
Yeah that would be really helpful. I've been looking for something like this for ages now.
its not what your looking for but may help.

Hello,
I've searched through the forum and haven't found an answer to my problem.
I need to know when a call is forwarded to me - me and a friend from my office have call forwarding when for eg. my all lines are engaged or I'm out of the network area then someone calling me will be connected with him and vice versa. But hte problem is that we don't know when someone is calling me or him. In f.e. Nokia phones there is a distinction between this, it looks like this:
Someone is calling me directly, it looks like this:
+4822123456
The call is diverted, it looks like this:
> +4822123456
Is there any way to know when a call is diverted in HTC phones with WM5 or WM6?? If it helps - my pda is HTC TyTN.
can anyone help?? Maybe someone can at least tell if he ever saw anything like this on HTC palmtops?
A slight kick, but does anyone already know a solution for this? If someone could develop it, I'll be more then happy to pay for the feature!
Hello.
I hope someone undestand me.
I would like to install some software that identify a sms alert sent to my phone.
When my phone is turned off and someone call me, when i turn on my phone a sms alert is sent to me with a message telling: <NUMBER 000000> called you at <date>. I had installed a software that change the number for a name if I it was in my agenda. But I did a hardreset and i dont have any idea where I can find this software, and I dont know the software name. Please help...
Thanks so much.
There is no software like that, but there is a service like that. You can register that service from your mobile operator.
yeah programs cant access the phone network which is where sms's live when the phone is off
Ok, I see. I had this service registred in my operator.
I want a software to show me the name of the person that called me.
Its so hard explain in English
When someone call me and my phone is off, they send me a msg like it: YOU RECEIVED A CALL FROM 1230987667409 AT 07/04/2007.
So I want a software that check if i have this numbem in my agenda and show the name beside number, like it: YOU RECEIVED A CALL FROM (FABIO GAMER)1230987667409 AT 07/04/2007.
Was I clear? I dont think so, but please, try help me.
I found the software

Thank you everyone.
Amazing, this is very good idea. I don't know about that, sorry for the misunderstanding and thank you for sharing
So I was googling for an answer and my research has come up with absolutely squat to solve my solution. So I am hoping someone here can come up with an answer for me.
I had for the last few phones a bunch of WM phones where they have the option to block my outgoing caller ID to non contacts. I am fully aware that Android offers in the options setting to either block it to all outgoing (which isn't of value because it blocks it also to people who I could care less if they have my number) and the other option to show it to everyone (which I'd rather not some people have my number or it be left on a call log so random people couldn't call back from the phone or employees who I simply dislike not getting my non office number) or the last option to use the standard carrier option which is the same as the last which falls under the same reason.
Does anyone have a solution where I can block my number other than dialing *67 to non contacts to block my number as a standard option that the phone would automatically do like WM used to do?
I don't know if this has any truth to it, but I found this info
I have a Captivate from AT&T. It has the Android OS and it does have a setting to withhold your number from people who are not in your contacts. You go to call settings, all calls, show my number, and choose By network.
With that said, you should be aware that on AT&T's network this only works if you don't update your phone with firmware update 2.1 update 1. AT&T had this function turned off in this update because they want to charge people $2 a month to withhold your number from people that do not have you in their contacts. I found this out the hard way after I updated. I spent all morning talking to tech support for both Samsung and AT&T. Tech support at Samsung told me that it does not say in the release notes for the update that this function was going to be disabled in that update. Samsung also told me that AT&T decides what is in the maintenance updates. AT&T's customer service said I could pay $2 a month for the function and AT&T's tech support said all they can do is revert the phone back to the old firmware. Maybe if enough AT&T customers complain they will have the function turned back on in the next update.

So it sounds like the Captivate could do it, but then ATT blocked the feature with a firmware update, and offered to give it back for $2/month. I'll keep digging and see if I can find anything else
Have you tried spoofapp? I don't know if caller ID spoofing would be acceptable for your need or not. I've never used it, so I don't know what kind of configuration it would take, but it seems like a hassle. You "place" the call, spoofapp calls you back, when you answer it connects your call with the desired spoofed ID

yeah I looked at it but you have to pay credits into the thing which means paying on a regular basis. So kind of defeating the purpose of it. I do appreciated the look around for it though. I saw the same post either on here or android central.
Just an FYI, many people, myself included won't answer calls where somebody has blocked their Caller ID. That's why we have Caller ID in the first place, so we know who's calling

You miss the point, if you are on the contact list you would be privy to seeing my ID come up anyways. Its people that don't need to have a non work private number that are not deserving of it since you really don't want people from work having the number unless its needed.

Make a Google voice account. When you don't want people to have your regular number, call them with GV and they will have that number.

Hi,
yesterday I got a call, from undefinied number... that is very interesting - because at services from my provider I have blocked "calls from undefinied number", and in the billing list - there is no this call, also a man in the provider help line says that there is no this call. My phone says - call exist (1 notification, missed call). I don't have any "fake call" applications installed. Can u help my find it out? I dont know what I have to do, or is my phone secure...
Man on help line also says, that some phones have function - combination of keys, or just function from menu - that generates fake call, and then number is undefinied, because in reallity - noone calling. HTC Sensation have it? May I generate it accidentaly?
Also i can say that I've not hear any ring, or wibrations, but maybe I've been in another room, but this is quiet impossible.
Plase help - I'm little bit afraid.
And sorry for my english - I hope u understand
I had something similar to me happen the otherday, Had a call form an unkown number, picked it up and it went down straight away, seemed like some kind of software bug tbh, it happend as soon as my reception come back from no signal
im looking for something my gramma can wear, as a watch, or necklace, but what itll be is 1 button, that will dial a number i set in. ive found such things that dial 911, but its not for 911 emergencies, its just for reaching us when she needs us for something. id set a google voice number that will forward to call to a few of us, which will let us know she needs us.
it doesnt even necessarily need to have 2way or even 1way communication.. as long as it can dial a number, itll act as a pager (lol remember these?).
anyone know of such a unit?
"Thanks" goes to anyone with useful information
edit: ive thought about buying one of those 911 calling ones, and possibly taking it apart and changing the number programmed in, not sure whats entailed in this, but considering it.
