Will 6GB, 4GB or 8GB MicroSD Work? - General Topics

I want to use a higher capacity MicroSD card for my tytn I. And needed to know what kind of card should I get...because I think people have gotten cards which sometimes do not work with their phone! So if anyone know any please share the info. Thanks

If there is such a thing as 6 and 8 Gb micro storage cards, they should work. Consult with Cingular stores or other cellular outlets.
8125
2.25.11.1

Depends on the Windows Mobile Version
I am using a 4GB DanDisk Micro SDHC with no problems. Upgraded my 8525 to a cooked ROM from this site that had SDHC support cooked in (the proper drivers).

AFAIK, all WM6 updates for the Hermes/Tytn I offer SDHC capability -- WM5 doesn't. So upgrade to WM6 if you haven't already.
Note that the SDHC standard supports cards up to 32GB; 4 & 6 are already on the market, with 8GB by the end of November, and possibly 16 and/or 32GB next year.

I have a 6GB MicroSD in my HTC Touch.

Are there mini SD cards this high for the Wizard?

No. The Wizard doesn't support mini SDHC at this time. There are, however 4GB miniSD cards (not mini SDHC) that some users have used successfully -- check out the Wizard forums for more info.

Thanks

My new 8 GB Sandisk micro SD works just fine on the ATT WM 6 ROM.
All I needed was a microSD to miniSD adapter which can be ordered for like $3 at online retailers.

how is the speed? is it slow?
Answer for Speed
Sorry that my answer comes so late but I haven't seen your post since today.
My impression is that the speed is quite good. I use it to store my mp3 and Tomtom, maybe this one is not as fast as before but now I'm not sure if the problem is the card becase I've installed more programs in the phone, and I think Tomtom worked faster some time ago with the same 8gb card.

What 4Gb card works with Tornado?

HI All,
What 4 Gb memory card works with the HTC Tornado (Orange C600 in my case)?
I read in the Xda forums that the original HTC Tornado does NOT work with the mini-SDHC (high capacity card).
Thus
1) Where can I buy a 4Gb mini-SD (not SDHC) that anybody got to work with Tornado?
2) Maybe one of the newer ROMs support with SDHC?
I did upgrade to WM 6.1 ROM (BlackDragon's V5 5.2.20282 (Build 19597.1.1.8) at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483878
)
Is there any 8Gb card that works too?
Thanks much!

Tornado (and variants) so far, not even with 6.1/6.5 Pro, have not been able to support an SDHC media of any type. As for cards, i've got a TopRam 4gb on my Tornado for the past 3 years and it works great.
I bought a Kingston 4G MiniSD (regular). it work fines...make sure you format it to FAT (not FAT32)
Is this Pretec 4gb MiniSD card working with HTC Tornado?
"should" work

It will work. I'm using a Sandisk uhs1 32gb sd and have no problems with it. It will take up to 32gb.

No expandable storage on dual sim variant?

I bought a 4.7 Idol 3 and just now am seeing comments about the dual-sim variant lacking expandable storage. I've been looking for more info and all spec websites (including from my country) mention it should have a MicroSD slot.
Some dual-sim phones' tray also doubles a card reader, so you can choose whether to have expandable storage or dual sim capabilities. I've been wondering if the same is true for the Idol 3.
Which is true?
The model I'm getting is 6039J-JAALBRC-1, bought in Brazil.

I don't think so...
The dual-sim slots arent cut out for the MicroSD cards, and even the software of the stock rom for the dual sim variant(in my case the Idol 3 6045K) doesnt show any ability to recognise an SD card.

Yeah, that is what I just said.
The dual sim variant doesn't support MicroSD cards.
But it does have 32GB of storage, while the single-sim ones have 16GB.
When I got this device,I kinda hoped its second sim slot would act as a MicroSD card slot (like in Meizu M2 Note),but I am pretty satisfied with Cloud storage too.

I don't know about 5.5 model, but 4.7 has either 8 or 16 gb of internal memory

That's too bad. Lack of MicroSD suppport would be a deal breaker if I saw it earlier, but I'm going to keep the Idol 3 considering I paid such a low price for it. Hopefully I'll get used to the available ~10 GB it comes with.
Thanks for making that clear.
