PS: This ROM is made of my Greek ROM by removing all greek support (mui files included). The strangest thing is that the Greek ROM has 19.27ΜΒ available storage after cold boot. That's exactly 2MB more free space than the english ROM!!! How is it possible to have less free space after removing some files?
That's why a second release took place. I wanted to see the available space with more apps installed. And yes, there is more free storage space.

Very strange indeed! Are you sure you haven't touched anything else between the two roms?
I might give it a go.
Just removed all *_Lang_0408 and *_Lang_0408_DPI_131 directories from the SYS folder (see Package Tool) and changed a couple of registry entries in some .rgu to the english language settings (0408 -> 0409).
Nothing else touched!!!!
That really doesn't explain the size increase, much less 2MB! Well, hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will crack that one up.
Installed your rom, seems nice, will need more testing to give a better opinion though. Thanks for releasing!
you are fast NitroGenious .. congrats on the release. I don't have right now time to test.

i've experienced too this a while back. I've deleted a lot of files (I mean A LOT, about 10MB), that would logically bring more space, but in reality did not, it just reduced the amount of free storage space..
So you should fill the 2MB space with usefull apps, this theoretically will bring the 19MB free space back.
It's about the ROM partitioning (the ROM flash is shared between the OS files & Storage).. andot's should know more about this.
Usefull apps? HTC Streaming Media (andot's V6 has it, you can dump ROM and get the needed files & registry) , Easter Uninstaller (handy,as you probably knows, WM has a bug not showing the installed applications if the nr of them reach 50), IA File Manager, Tornado Low Light, and maybe Microsfot Voice Commander (don't know how much takes this application). or if the MS Voice Commander takes too much space, include wmv codecs (this will allow applications, such as TCPMP, to be able playing wmv). That's what I'm remembering right now.
Have you replaced the browsing files? If you copy the files as modules, you should run G'Reloc (if you allready didn't )
BTW have you included the "Bluetooth Dial-up Networking" tweak ?
Also you could include also (but leave the default WM6 calculator cos it has some usefull functions, such as %, etc) the good old WM5 calculator, it loads way faster in memory, you only need calc.exe from a WM5 dump. Tell me if you need it :d.
Is anybody having problems with voip with this rom, always telling me that the service is blocked, never had this problem with any other WM6 rom i've tried.
Any ideas?
Nice, Nitro! One more rom to choose from.
"SDHC card support"
Mind telling us how you did that?
Which drivers did you use?
Any registry tweaks needed for it?

In my experience, the empty icons in your programs list are due the small size of the new rom. In other words, they are leftover icons from your last rom.
Means you probably omitted the "format binfs" step.
Someone please smack me if I am giving wrong info.
I need to find my sda so I can try this one out, been addicted to the wizard lately.
Love seeing more people coming out with their own custom roms, keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for this WM6 release.
My SPV C600 is now correctly upgraded and GPRS is OK with this automatique cab config:

Nice!
At last rom with MMS and SMS splitted into accounts.
Please consider making a vanilla - something a'la OEM without any third party programs
Great work
More removed apps = less space available! Don't know why, but it's a fact (check previous page). So, we need the third party apps to have more available storage!
But, if you want a vanilla, I'll give you one...
Hmm, I hoped andot would re-cook this ROM and wrote to him in a Chinese forum. But he said he had no interest in it.
I flashed this rom last night, I like it very much so far. Good job. Haven't noticed any problems yet, nice suite of apps built in.
Update!
This is a small update. It just has more applications installed. I've not tried it - if someone does, please report free memory/storage on cold boot.

Please report free storage on cold boot. That's the main reason of this release; I want to see if the available free space is increased with more applications installed!

Please include internet sharing
I would be more than willing to test drive this ROM if Internet Sharing is also included (I didn't see it listed). It's one feature I use almost daily.
Thanks!
Internet sharing is already included. I didn't put it on the list, because I thought it was one of the standard WM6 features, just like IE and SMS!

Important Note:
Since Feb 12th I'm serving in the army (one-year mandatory service). Although I'm not able to work on the ROM from there, I read the forum almost every day. I'll support my ROM on every change I get. I also plan on releasing a kitchen in the near future (possibly at the end of March), so that you'll be able to cook your own custom ROMs.
Please do not ask for a Vanilla ROM. You'll be able to make one yourself when the kitchen is released!
Many thanks to:
vjgrace and EA for implementing a lot of registry tweaks
GnatGoSplat for the new XIP
DSF, karhoe, Sefy, kartam, kkrull, illi, sonus and many more people for their ideas, hints, suggestions, bug fixes, etc.
Shark, Andot, DukeStix, and Phil (jm012a9749) for their original work on WM6 for the Tornado
Dr. Gonzo for some nice oem packages taken from his Vox ROM.
Everyone of you who have made a donation
Me being the very first to use, saying this new rom rules! lots of new tools in it! and works REALLY fast! i'll report more after 24 hours (i'm reinstalling all of the programs i use ) but for now it's working perfect!
Remember my Sounds issue? well, although after flashing it was ok, seems like one of the installations is causing it to happen again. Now these are installations i've done on every rom so far, yet it's happening again even after i've done format binfs so can't blame it on that one!
Perfect! Well done mate. Really big step ahead.
What now?
WM 6.1 appear on horizont - do You take a challange??
Excellent release !
Excellent!!! Am looking forward to trying this.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Great job! I will update my guide with your ROM
I am just starting here, so, if you can please help me...
I have a question for you, does this windows mobile work in any last generation smartphone?
I`m using a Treo 750, but it as wm5 spanish, and i would like to put wm6 eng...
can it be done?
I MAY have found the bug causing my "Sounds" to stop working! it's not with an installation! it's one of the tweaks in the registry which the phone is enabling! as soon as i track it down, i'll post which one and i'd recommend it's removal!
UPDATE! I found the bad Tweak!
Do NOT change the location of the Volatile folder! i strongly suggest REMOVING that option!
This rom is great! Thank you!

In my tests on the pre-release ROM I did not face the problem with Sounds that you faced. In fact I point the Volatile folder to SD card but did not delete it from main memory. I have been doing this with other previous ROMs too. It helps when sending emails with large attachments. I noticed this and a number of temp files are in fact in the \Storage Card\Volatile folder.
However during my testing at one stage I lost the sound. It was not as loud as usual. I tinkled with the Bluetooth A2DP and managed to regain the loudness. Seems strange to me.
Still with the pre-release ROM, i am faced with the two soft keys freezing.
Will try the final release in a while.
FYI I also point the UACONTENTS and Messaging
to SD Card without problems. This is for the MMS and SMS files respectively.
Thanks
illi
Windows Media Player
Did no one in beta testing or even now find a problem with WMP not playing *any* video? I can play the files just fine with TCPMP.
Thank You & Good Luck!
Hi NiTrogenious
Thank you and thank you again. This is one great home-brewed ROM.
Wish you good luck in the army.
Take care.
illi
Thank you so much for your work. I really enjoy to use my Torndao again!!
havent test it but ihope its like the guys are sayng and im hoping thats the rom kitchen get finished fast
@illi, i'm only reporting the experience i had, i kept thinking one of my installation cause the "Sounds" to not work. Only after i restored the Volatile tweak back to it's place, they worked again.
When i put "Sounds" i'm talking about the Ringtones selection settings, when i've pointed the Volatile to my SD card (also, did not remove the original) then none of them would play and i get the error "corrupt or unavailable" even though the files were playable and available using any other player including wmp itself.
I've just given my personal experience, after flashing twice because this error.

Quite strange. Our experiences differ. I thought my experience will help you. Hope this new release dont have too much issue.
I am flashing the ROM now.
Shall report accordingly.
Thanks Sefy
@illi, what i report is from this release as well, as soon as i've used to tweak to move the Volatile to my Storage Card then none of the ringtones would play. As soon as i restored it to the original place, it started working again
Nice Rom :d

Did you create the directory on the Storage Card? The temp dir should exist, it is not autocreated!
I hope not many issues will be appeared. Thank you all for testing. And of course, any donation would be appreciated.
PS. This is my last post before my departure... Goodbye, guys!
Unable to play mid files
The ROM is great and thanks Nitro for the Hard work. However, I am having an issue
setting mid files as ringtone. When I select it, it says as "Corrupt or Not Available". I tried moving the mid files to storage card but still no luck. Is any one able to set mid files as ringtone.
After quite a while in development, Mobile Vista 1.3 is finally ready to see the light of day.
This ROM is the result of the hard work of lots of people: Poorlyduck, Mfrazzz, McMexican, Ghostie, Ionutz, Laurentius, Sleuth, Milesmowbray, and probably some others whom I've forgotten to mention.
What's the ROM all about then?
I prefer a ROM that is ready to use straight from a flash/Hard Reset. Although light ROMs will be quicker, I'm too lazy to spend an hour re-installing and setting up my programs. This ROM contains everything I use built in.
Why the name "Mobile Vista"?
This is the newest OS available from Microsoft at the moment, it still needs development to be fully finished, but I absolutely love it while others moan about it. Am I talking about WM6.1 or Vista?
What's in the ROM?
Glad you asked! It's built on the AT&T build 19209 (3.14) and is UC 2.0 compliant
It's only compatible with Radio 1.65.14.06 at the moment and this is included in the ROM
UPDATE - this ROM is also compatible with 1.65.17.10 and 1.65.20.29. As the 17.10 is the "Radio from Hell" that you cannot change from, I wouldn't recommend this one unless you're already stuck on it!

* Vista Dialer is PoorlyDuck's Vista theme - this does NOT support Video Calling or
* 3G Dialer is Nadavi's phone with the background changed to fit in with the non-black theme on the rest of the ROM - this DOES support Video Calling
Where can I download them?
Firstly decide which dialer you want - the Vista one (without Video Calling) or the 3G one (with Video Calling).
Then decide if you want Coreplayer, TomTom, and/or Voice Command (UK or US accent) included.
Once you've decided, go to http://confusedstu.4shared.com and download the ROM of your choice from the "Mobile Vista 1.3" folder
Bugs
* If you use a version with the US Voice Command, and button 6 is unassigned, or missing completely, please install the VC (US) Button Fix cab below.
* If you're installing a ROM that doesn't include Coreplayer and the Camera won't launch. Please install the Camera fix cab below to sort this out.
* If you install a ROM and you're missing some options from the phone menu, please install the Video Calling Options fix cab below
* If you install a ROM and you're missing the MMS options from the Messaging menu, please install the MMS Options fix cab below.
Next time I re-cook and re-upload the ROMs, I will bake these fixes into those that need them. Sorry for the inconvenience.
* Sometimes, after the Connection Setup wizard resets the phone, BatteryStatus disappears. To get it back, go into the Start > Settings > Today > Items > select BatteryStatus and click Options. OK back out and BatteryStatus will be back and working properly.
* TodayAgenda crashes if you access the Options through Start > Settings > Today > Items > Options. Instead, please tap and hold on TodayAgenda itself and select Options to get in.
FAQ
Q: Does this ROM include a Cube?
A: No, the cube doesn't play well with Transcriber - and I use Transcriber more, hence that's included but a Cube isn't. If you want to install a Cube, there are lots available for download and installing.
Q: Does this ROM include HTC Home (also known as "The Weather and launcher thing on the Home screen")?
A: No, it takes up more space on my Today screen than I'm willing to give up, but is available as a cab around the place for you install.
Q: Are you going to release a "light" version?
A: There are already lots of great light ROMs available - they'd be better than anything I could produce.
Q: How much free memory does it have?
A: Depending on which version you go for - free Storage Memory will be between 118.49Mb to 103.67Mb, and free Program Memory will be between 71.73Mb and 68.85Mb on boot up.
Q: Are the games available separately?
A: Yes, have a look on my 4shared site http://confusedstu.4shared.com and look under "Games"
Q: Are the announcements (for alarm, etc) available separately
A: I made them at http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php - just head over there, put in the text you want, select your voice (I used Audrey UK) and click Play/Download to get your .wav announcement. It even works on the phone for changing when out and about.
Q: Why is the ROM now [UNSUPPORTED]?
A: To be honest, I thought everyone had stopped using this long ago and moved onto the newer ROMs out there, but the occasional question shows me some die-hards are still using it (thanks guys. ). Since making this ROM, I've now moved onto a Touch Pro and sold my Kaiser to finance it. Some Chefs are good enough to be able to support and make ROMs without having a phone to test them on - that's not me! Without a Kaiser to try things out on, I simply cannot answer most questions or problems. Feel free to continue to post up any questions you have and I'll answer it if I know it, or another user might help, but largely what you see is what you get I'm afraid.
Changes on 13th April
* All ROMs updated to UC v2 (finally remembered to do that!)
* Updated ROMs to remove the first 2 bugs listed in post 2, so no need to install the US VC or Camera fix cabs
* Finally got Video Calling working (thank you Ghostie, Laurentius and Dutty!) so can now offer versions with Nadavi's 3G dialer in
Uploading all 20 ROMs took just over 24 hours - I think my ISP must love me!!
WooHoo!, first time ever, ever being first.
Downloading now, will flash at work. If 1.2 was anything to go by i'm sure this will be great.
Keep up the good work m8!!

Good point - meant to mention that in the first post! It's only compatible with the new ATT radio, and this Radio is included in the ROM (any other Radio produces the expected sound and camera problems).
Thanks Mzahiri, I've now amended the first post slightly to mention that.

Sure, have a look at my 4shared site and look under "Games" for the cab files to be installed on any phone. (I originally got the "Another World" game from the FTP site here a couple of years ago, can't remember which phone's ExtROM it had been extracted from!).
Can you give some guidance on what is what on your download site? It's really a bit confusing, I just want the nice cooked ROM you mentioned...
You may want to compile a list of what's in which file on your site.....
thanks stu, got the file from your site.
much appreciated!

I'm testing my little knowledge on cooking, and i'm starting to modify the HTC official WM6.1 Spanish ROM to make it slight, deleting unnecesary apps and customizing for my like. Don't expect so much at this time, cause i'm still learning, but i'd like to make this ROM in gratefulness to this forum and to all ppl have helped me... So you can view this like the starting of a project.
The core of this ROM is 3.29.412.0 the same as HTC WM6.1 official. For now i'm going to try all my efforts with this version, cause for me is enough stable, and the only one working 100% fine with my BT Hands Free WV system, and this point is very important for me. don't discard to make an hybrid version later, but translations are so hard....
I'd like to know if someone interested in a spanish lite ROM, and what apps to put out of the ROM and make CABs for... i accept sugestions and recomendatios and feedback. I'd like to make a stable and slight spanish ROM for spanish users, and of course, this is a way to continuing learning...
I have started taking out of the ROM AutoUpdate, Catalog, WorldCard, Windows Lile and HTCHome (i preffer SPB Mobile Shell)... and modified the default CommManager to Schaps style (i preffer 12 buttom quickly than 9 default slow). Inisit that this is a first approach to a lite spanish version, so if you have sugestions, write here what do you like this ROM would be
This is only OS ROM, so put the Radio ROM of your choice, but one WM6.1 HTC Official compatible. If you don't know about this, take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182 before start.
Of course, take care having HardSPL before flash any ROM (including this one) in your Kaiser. Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396922.
This is the link to ROM
http://rapidshare.com/files/123384675/JCEspi2005_WM61_SpanishLiteROM_V1.rar
Te pass for the RAR file is SpanishLiteROMV1
If you flash the ROM, any feedback is wellcome.
And of course, many thanks to all ppl contributing to this great forum (can't write all the names, but if you contribute, THANKS to you...)
Cheers
PD: No screenshots for the moment, but i'll put here later. I'll add the package details later too, but are the same as in the official WM6.1 spanish ROM.

Time for V2. No mayor improvements, only take out of the ROM Adobe Acrobat LE and User experience app. And put into the ROM Total Commander spanish 2.5 version (i love this file manager...). Added the tweak to allow apps to run without trusted cert. Added the Acrobat CAB to second post.

Continuing with the Lite proccess, i take out of the ROM HTC Task Manager (taskmgr.exe), HTC X-Buttom 1.51 (preffer batteryStatus task manager) and HTC Zip (Total Commander can handle the ZIP files better ). Deleted the SqlCEMobile (SQL Server for Mobile platform) and SQM package too and added to the ROM Dotfred Task Manager (i love this utility...you can find in Programas/System folder). Added the X-Buttom and HTC Zip CABs to second post.

After some busy time (and family time, of course...) i make a new version of my light spanish ROM, cause V4 was not the one i use. For me is too light, so i start from scratch again, and make a V5 with the following changes.
- ADDED HTC Home again, now that iGO 8 works fine with HTC Home
- ADDED Audio Manager that integrates with HTC Home and is enough lighter for me.
- ADDED Office 6.1 and One Note. Sometimes i need to open a word or excel file, so i put this on.
- ADDED Acrobat Reader back (sometimes someone sends me a PDF and i need to read)
- REMOVED Ciberon Voice Speed Dial (I never use this one....)
- ADDED Button 6 linked to Comm Manager (You can easy change this link)
- UPDATE Total Commander 2.51 version
- UPDATE dotFred Task Manager 3.1 version
- UC 2.0 Compliant (thanks to Sleuth). Refer to this thread for more info on how customize your ROM after Hard Reset, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337
- ADDED Today Agenda 1.1. This is a substitute for Today Calendar, removed from today, with lot of functions... i love this one...
- ADDED WM6 Sound Scheme
- Some tweaks i do after every Hard Reset: Enable ClearType, Disable Error Reporting, Beam Disabled and Security warnings when installing non-certified application Disabled.
- WITHOUT CHANGE I left in the Schaps 12 button Comm Manager, NetCF 2.0 cooked into the ROM (i added the NetCF 3.5 in second post), CEIPUI and notifications removed, HTC X-Buttom 1.51 removed and HTC Zip too (Total Commander can handle the ZIP files better), SqlCEMobile (SQL Server for Mobile platform) and SQM package deleted, AutoUpdate, Catalog, WorldCard, Windows Lile Removed too.
So the result is the ROM better suites my needs...
- Screen Shoots...

In place of 1 congratulations on your idea of making a rom lite,
I can recommend a radio that works well for spanish because they sometimes make a call and connects me but not hear the conversation, which I have to retry the call,
Another problem I have is that it takes a long time to get satellites ...
in what may help
greetings and thanks

Your effort is remarkable, mate. Although my experiences with that ROM haven't been really pleasurable, specially with the performance.
I hope your cooked version runs flawless, my best wishes for your work.
cheers
What a surprise!
I'm running HTC Spanish Official WM 6.1 now, with the radio changed to 1.58.25.17 and it's OK enough for me.
Another two things you can remove is "Introducción" and "Adobe reader LE" (Adobe reader mobile 2.0 displays PDF reformatted for the low resolution)
An if you can ask sakajati how he managed to correct the "no text if cleartype enabled on landscape mode" bug, that would make it a very good ROM.
Most people use HTC Home, I would leave it in, it can be disabled.
The camera included on the new ROM works very well, I have taken a few test pictures and compared them to the 5.04 camera.

hey morning/evening berdinkerdickle,
I am very glad to see your stripped GSM TreoPro 6.1 ROM comes out, in fact, I am dealing with the same thing on a Chinese forum, and after low-memory-costing ROM published, I moved to OEM package design.
It could be much more logical for us to publish OEM packages instead of custom roms, one reason is ROM core never change, still 'build 19216', another is people want their own localized & personalized ROM anyway.
I list down the latest OEM packages which including in my kitchen, and I hope we can share the OEM packages from now on if you agree with me.
NetCF3.5 [NET 3.5]
HK_Battery_Replace_Volume [give that ugly battery indication back due to volume icon already put into ROM by default]
HK_Manila Square320_128DPI [Manila2D 1.0.1818 which works under 128DPI]
HK_Personalize [splash 1,2&3 screen]
HK_PlumSIP6_PalmTreoPro [Chinese input method]
HK_TaskManager_Show [task manager icon might be disappear after installing manila, this OEM can make task manager shown on your HP again]
HK_WM6.5_BatteryIndicator [WM6.5 battery indicator]
PS: my custom ROM works under 128DPI resolution, I found yours is 96DPI

oh, sorry for that,
1 please kindly follow that link, and click 'English' on the top right of your page
2 and now your web page should display with English letters, then select 'ToDownloadPage' & waiting for another page to pop up
3 click 'Raysource' button in that newly opened page to start downloading.
4 oh, before i forgot, the most important thing is you need to install 'Raysource' application first, which you can get from http://static.rayfile.com/en/client/
Plus: make sure dis-select OEM package['Ziti_YaHei' & 'Ziti_ClearType'] in the kitchen once your downloading finish, because those two OEM packages are Chinese language support & customize tool.
The path of those two packages is [dump\SYS\19216\SHARED\COMMON]
Thanks for your fast response!
For other non-Chinese people you can change the RaySource program into English as well:
- Open the program Raysource
- Click on the icon in your traybar
- Click on the item which has an arrow next to it and choose the second option.
Download is slow but the program has a resume option.
downloading and flashing now thanks for cooking this one.

hi! Do you tend to touch the screen on the phone? I keep on touching the screen when I borrow other phones. Hehe.
2 of my siblings use the E71. very nice hardware but s60 is not for me. My treo pro is pretty beat up already but I still haven't found a replacement yet.
Farewell!
Hey Mccune..
It brings great sadness to hear you're moving on to Nokia.. I was looking forward to hearing from you regarding Realvga etc.. but I guess you gotta do whatcha gotta do.. Have fun with Symbian.. Au revoir!

For a while I've had the E71 before. Together with the Treo Pro it was hard to decide what to keep. Both have their pro's and cons. Since I've got the Touch Pro 2 the TP became more obsolete and served as a backup device.

I was kind of struggeling if I would continue this RealVGA project before "abandoning" the TP. But since it's actually pretty easy to install RealVGA I thoughy it would not be such a big deal. If you want me to I could post my way of installing RealVGA on the Treo Pro including my RealVGA fixes that I've already posted here on XDA. Just let me know!

Don't worry about it.. I got it installed and running pretty smooth thanks to your fixes. Looks like it'll have to stop there. Thanks again Mccune..
