hi, does tornado support office (i am intereted in excel) ? and if not is there any way to instal it as a 3rd paty application ?
cheers, cudo
You can view excel files with clear view (comes with phone), or you could make/edit excel files with a 3rd party app ptab.
cheers, so in other words it dosnt have office mobile? cudo
There's no way to get Office Mobile, but you can get a 3rd party Excel application. It's $30. http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=1434
I haven't seen any Word programs, but there are several text editors out there.
Actually I think it is really a pain in the ass when you typing using T9. Unless you have a Bluetooth keyboard or something, a viewer software should be enough.
I have one very important password protected Excel spreadsheet that I have been using on my Pocket PC for many years. This is a spreadsheet that is updated regularly on my desktop or laptop computer. This worked great on Pocket PC 2003SE and before. When WM5 was released, it was with the password capability in Excel Mobile was removed. I had hoped it would be fixed with WM6 or WM6.1. No luck. Does anyone have a suggestion? A work around or a third party Excel Mobile reader that will allow me to read password protected Excel Spreadsheets. Yes, I have the password and it is changed regularly for security. Thanks.
Planmaker will show the pop-up asking for the password.

Your suggestion is great. I tried the Demo version and it worked. Thanks. I now have to decide if it is worth $110 US to read one spread sheet once a week on my PDA. I wrote Softmaker to see if they would sell Planmaker PPC alone without the entire package. Thanks again.
I am looking for a notes program that lets me add both text and small sketches/drawings or even photo's to my notes... (sometimes a picture says more then 100 words)
And the program should come with a nice system to archive my notes or even add them to my outlook agenda.
You don't say what platform/device, but you might want to look at PhatNotes for Outlook from http://www.phatware.com
What about OneNote Mobile - part of MS Office Mobile 6.1 - that allows you to type or handwrite items, plus you can insert pictures or take a picture to insert into the note; the PC version will synchronise with the mobile version and you can then add notes as Outlook tasks.
Just a couple of thoughts from me...there's bound to be others
Mark.
One Note is a good solution but I also use Evernote, it's a free note app that works with a free desktop client and also a web interface (all free). This program lets you take typed notes, written notes, picture notes, pictures in notes, and audio notes. It then uploads the information to a web version and syncs with a desktop client provided by them. I use evernote only because I use an HTC Diamond and an iPhone 3G (depending on the day is the phone I use) and Outlook does not sync notes to iPhone so I use evernote to sync my notes everywhere. I would however prefer to use One Note just because it does not need to sync to an online portal.
OneNote Mobile is included with the version of MS office which comes with oneNote for pc
I can suggest Mobile Sketcher if you need to add notes to pictures
great answers, i'll start reading up on these..
I am currently using an old Imate JAMin, but i am soon upgrading to a Touch HD, and with the big screen it seems perfect to make little technical sketches along with my notes. So actually i am looking for an application to use on the HD...
I will certainly have use for mobile sketcher too, its not exactly what i was thinking about but its awesome to add handwritten text and little sketches to pictures i take from technicall stuff.
Thanks all...
With phatnote not being able to save notes on the flash ram, i guess it will be onenote (which i allready own on my PC, but never used as it came with the office suite, and i tend to never make notes behind my PC, but allways en route in the field)
I tested Onenote on my JAMin and it doesn;t fit the bill...
I can not make any sketches/drawings inside my notes....(i can only add pictures and soundrecordings)... thats the most essentiall thing it need to do...
Is there any sort of pdf viewer that has form input? (as in, I can type things into forms?)
If not is there any software that I can input information into when I am in the field?
This is on windows mobile 5 btw
i don't know any pdf viewer with these features, sorry
I know people have discussed that you can set up the asus transformer to print from google docs to a cloud enabled printer (like an hp eprint one) but google docs sucks for creating documents on the tablet. The polaris office that comes with the tablet is pretty nice and has google docs integration, so i'm wondering if there is any way to print directly from polaris. I also was wondering if there is a way to set the default save place to google docs so if I can't print from polaris I can at least use it to write my documents before printing in google docs. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I would appreciate any helpful advice.
