HTC Audio Manager trim feature not working - General Topics

Has anyone else not been able to use the trim feature in HTC Audio Manager. I have tried numerous versions of this app, to no avail. The latest is at this link, which does not work for me either: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332438&highlight=audio+trim. This would be a handy feature if it worked correctly. I have an HTC P4000 (Canadian TyTN). Is it just my phone or is there something wrong in the app? Help, anyone???

You probably are trying to use a non MP3 file. My files that are MP3's work fine. The WMA files the "trim" function is grayed out.
Hope that helps
Oh I use MediaMonkey to Sync so I can have it auto convert file format.

Benefits of a upgrade

Hi all,
I've been checking this forum for a week or so now and the only thing I cant seem to find info on is...
What benefits do you get if you upgrade your Magician to the latest rom?
Does it get rid of the camera speckles and snow? Or do I still need to download that camera fix?
Does it enable me to use MP3s as ringtones? Or do I again need to download another file?
What other features do I get from upgrading? If any?
Thanks for your time.
Mr. E you can use MP3 as ringtones on all ROMS even if you have the very oldest, 1.01. Just copy the Mp3 file to the /Windows/Rings folder.
I did that but it didnt do anything. Is there some sort of special way of selecting the file for a ringtone?
Easy way to set mp3 as ringtone:
By the way, if you have no issues with your existing rom and you're happy with all aspects of your phone and it's running stable, then don't bother upgrading.
Sweet that looks like what I need.
As for the camera... I guess just download the camera fix.
From what your saying Jimmy-bish the rom updates dont give you anything worthwhile then?
If you have 1.11 or earlier rom, U may encounter the famous "bluetooth not found" problem. Is it worthwhile enough?
Yeah, sometimes it comes down to the individual phone. Heaps of people complained about that bluetooth and GPRS issue with 1.11 rom. I had it once, so I kept the same rom as I had no problems with that and just upgraded the radio to 1.13. Problem solved.
If you notice bugs or errors on your phone, search the forums and if everyone says it's the rom version that's causing the problem then upgrade. If you aren't experiencing any problems and can't be bothered upgrading all the time, you aren't missing too much. Most of the time it's just bug fixes and slight improvements, which can often be found through the forum without having to upgrade (camera patches and improvements, extended rom applications etc).

Install the snowfix file and this will change all the relevant setting to do away with the speckles etc. Can't remember where I found this so can't give authors name.
Jim
I did download the new camera from here... not the snowfix. The camera didnt seem to change anything tho, so im guess I need this snowfix too?
Problem with me is that I always want to have the latest update... so more than likely I will install the new update onto my Magician anyways...
I put that MP3 ringtone fix on, thanks heaps for that. Is there anyway of using a MP3 when you get a SMS?
Snowfix is just a case of turning down sharpness and saturation etc, i think.
V
Question, anyone know how to make the MP3 ringtones louder? With my phone volume right up its still kinda quiet, if I play it through the Media Player it sounds at the same volume until I turn the media player volume up to 100%... thats about how loud I would like it.
Is it possible without having to up the volume on a PC based app?

That is exactly what it is, but its still better then the standard camera settings.
Does that phone alarm allow you to use MP3s as your SMS tone?
Mr E, yes it does!
Now I have seen somewhere, that someone had the same problem as I am having and that was the SD card is coming up as 128mg but its actually 256mg... someone had some sort of format program for the SD card... anyone have that? As my PC wants to format it as 128 when it clearly says on the card that its 256...
btw: you can use mp3 as rings without any other prog. just associate mp3-files with mediaplayer, copy desired file to windows/rings and choose it in the normal ringtone dialog. the built in volume slider (telephone one, not loudspeaker one) works for me, too.

Question about sending file via Bluetooth

This is a very simple question. I cannot find the way to send a ringtone via Bluetooth on the Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday). I see that you can send it through the IR Beam but I do not see any options for sending files via Bluetooth. Please help me! lol.
BEAM doesn't just mean it's thru IR only..it works also for Bluetooth. Just turn ON your Bluetooth first, then try to BEAM the file, then wait for any bluetooth recepient, bluetooth recepients should appear like there is a bluetooth sending icon beside the device's name.
thanks. another quick question.
when i run OmapClock I get an "initialization error (reason: can't map I/O)". I searched around and found that I need to an application unlock. My phone is already unlocked for service but how to a unlock its applications? Thanks.
Try Sniper, which is a smart bluetooth sending and recerving manager.
kevin: download this. http://smartmania.mobilmania.cz/index.php?ind=downloads&op=download_file&ide=42&file=policyPatch.zip
run the .cab file on your device. Then soft reset, omapclock should go fine after doing so.
Thaaaaaanks!!!!!!!! Works!!! Thanks a bunch! And btw whats a good overclock for the Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday)? 228mhz?
kevin245: 240 is truly safe, 252-264 work on some phone with no problems, there can occur a system hang or hard-reset but its generally safe as well.
thanks a bunch.

how can i setup my sda so i can recieve my file via Bluetooth on the memory card and not on the internal memory of my phone?
Use moBlue! http://hejhej.org/downloads/moBlue/

is there a audio manager version out that doesn't have this bug that it sorts the tracks alphabetically and not by track number?
i tried this one HTC_Audio_Manager_v1.02.919713.zip but it still has the bug.
So my audiomanager looks like the attached. I am using HTC Audio ManagerV1.02.919.713.cab. I have tried different versions but it says it is "unsigned" and won't open it. Any ideas?

duttythroy HTC Audio Manager 1_2_816716.cab search for this version, it doesnt have that bug I found it in the kaiser forum some time ago, duttythroy has a cab collection online somewhere, it should be in there.
However, as it installs into program files, if you set HTC Home Customiser to use audiomanager you will not be able to launch Audio manager from home. Theres no doubt a way around this, but i cant be bothered trying to sort it out at the moment.

duttythroy cab collection online:
http://www.cinetsystems.com/xda/
All the cabs I found in XDA-Devs and other places were older builds of HTC Audio Manager too (Even in Dutty's cab collection).
I butchered one up myself - basically I just took all the audiomanager files from a dump of Dutty's No.6 ROM and packaged them into a .cab file. You're welcome to try it out...
No more alphabetical nonsense, files are sorted by track numbers. As it's set to install to "\Windows" it should work if you want to use the HTC Home tab to open it.
Edit: Let me know if this works ok - I've checked it and it's working fine for me, and it is indeed the version I ripped out of Dutty's No. 6 ROM.
Will I need to do any hardspl before installing HTC Audio Manager, cause I really don't want to risk my warranty?
No. Just install the cab and it'll appear in the programs folder like any other application.
If you don't like it, then you can uninstall it through "Remove Programs". No harm done!
Okay thanks alot
There are also other apps like a picture viewer program who has iphone interface (sorry can't remember the name) and HTC Touch Cube are these also just installations, without any flashing?
Sorry for the questions, it's just difficcult to find out which apps needs flashing and which don't.
PS. has read through the wiki, but there are no thumb rule about which apps needs flash and which don't.
Can I just install the cabs in this link without flashing, because that would be great:

Yes it is only software you install, without any flashing.
Pretty much all of the applications are available as cabs. Of course, many of them are already cooked into ROMs anyway.
The exception to this is the Touch Cube, which doesn't work very well unless it's been cooked into a ROM.
If you're not too bothered about the Cube, then the only real reason to flash new ROMs is for newer builds and potentially improved speed/stability.
For applications and plugins, you'll be able to get 99% of them as cab installers.
Oh, and yes - all the cabs at that link can just be installed with no flashing needed. You never need to flash your device to install a cab. (The audio manager that you will find in duttys collection is an older version than the one in post #11 though).
Cool. Thanks alot both of you for the answers. I will have to try HTC Audio Manager, and will start with yours at top of this page

Thanks, I thought no one else noticed that. I posted something about this a month ago, but no one answered.
I just wish that they released a version with an equalizer or something.
Is there a fix to let the Audio Manager "see" all of the albums that are actually on the phone? I have probably 6 or 7 albums but Audio Manager only sees 3 of them.
update: once i deleted the old version of htc manager and then installed the new version... all was well. the new version was able to see all of my music directories and in the correct numerical order.

In Call Recording (ICR) is working on Raphael

Starting a new thread is always questionable but this is something quite new
and it seems that still many people don't know about ICR-breakthrough on HTC devices. As I know, the first working ICR on HTC was in some custom HD-ROM and smart people managed to extract necesary contents and built cabs from it. For those who want theory and more info - search HD and Diamond forum.
Something important: all the glory belongs to those who extracted parts from the HD-ROM and gave following files to us. I only put those files and my experiences with it together for Raphael owners.
I tried to get it working on my stock 1.9 ROM but no succes after so many attempts so it might seem it doesn't work on it - but I'm not sure. I always achieved only recording both sides via mic.
Now, when I flashed the elite-RC3 I tried few steps and it really works. It works the "inner-way", absollutely not via mic, recordings are clear and very good quality! Some steps are probably redundant but .. I made it this way and it works..
1. install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145688&d=1231739428
(it's from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3155880&postcount=87 )
2. extract this to windows directory:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145698&d=1231743323
(it's from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3156069&postcount=91 )
3. soft reset
4. make a call and start recording when calling from dialer's menu - it won't work now,but do it
5. uninstall the cab from step nr. 1
6. soft reset
7. install this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=145741&d=1231759945
(it's from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3156859&postcount=10 )
8. soft reset ..and it should work
Why install and then uninstall? Maybe this is redundant but it seems it makes some needed changes to registry - but you can try it without it, I will NOT hard-reset my Raphael to figure out
Btw I had problems with Resco audio recorder, it didn't recognize end of the call and device crashed many times. Vito Audio notes touch works great.
EDIT:
step 0. for those who still can't see the record option in dialer: you can try one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3124498&postcount=76
Anyone who tries any method leave a comment here please (with ROM version you have) so the ROMs-developers can obtain this info and eventually add ICR to their new ROMs. Thanks
EDIT2:
------
ROM-specific sollutions based on your feedback:
-elite-RC3: install the latest update from elite-RC3 thread - that's all
-NATF 4.0 & 4.1: use method in post #29 (or #63 - with no dialer included = for 3rd party audio recorders only)
-RomeOS2 1.60.2: use method in post #37 or #89
-stock 1.93: use method in post #29
-2.01.415.3 WWE: use the first (multistep) method above
--still no luck for stock 1.90, NATF 4.2 and any CDMA-ROM
--results with other ROMs weren't reported (or maybe I overlooked them - let me know)
Very appetizing but a bit too experimental and scary. Anyone else tried this?
Will uninstallation restore stuff?
Let us know if anyone gets this to work on a ROM other than Elite-RC3.
interesting method and I think i know some of the reasons why it works, I may have an alternative but I want compare first. Thanks for sharing
The method i use is just install monx's cab and then go to the registry HKLM\Software\HTC\ICR\Recmicgain (don't know the exact title) delete it and soft reset.
Where is the audio saved?
I have a Titan lying around that I can try it on if you think it will work on that. If it's experimental, I'll wait to install it on my Touch Pro. It's not activated, but I can call *611 and record that conversation.
Okay, I did everything written above to the "T". It didn't work on the Titan (maybe it's different for the Touch Pro). I didn't run into any critical problems, it just didn't record. When I try to record, I noticed the audio from the call goes out, and comes back on when I stop recording. When I play the recording, I only hear the input from the mic. This is the case with the standard notes recorder, and with Vito Audio Notes.
If someone wants to try it on their Touch Pro, let us know if it works!
tried on my TP....didn't work for me. I have v5 of the slide to answer Touch HD phone pad. you should have ICR control panel in programs menu after installation. There you can configure recording format and if you want to save recordings to main memory or to storage card. But I recommend to use some other - autorecording app.
Important notice: some people reported that they have to run ICR from dialer once to enable recording in other apps. It's uncertain if this has to be done after each soft reset..
For those who want to try this with other ROM : you must install some other dialer, I didn't have the recording option in the original one. As I remember, I installed S2A dialer from somewhere and it had this option.

no luck on Verizon raphael
I tired this on my Vierzon Touch Pro but I get the same results. The other side is faint because it's being recorded via the microphone and not internally. How do you get the phone to record the audio internally and not via the mic? I did everything the original poster said. I'm using the scrosler 3.0 ROM.
This worked for me. No problems yet. Although I might add, both times it recorded correctly. When you said to record it, it would not work, but do it anyways. It seemed to work for me. Thought I'd let everyone know.

It really looks like it's working only on some ROMs. Obviously some new components the elite-ROM developers used are required. Something from HD-ROM?
Anyway if someone next gets it to work please leave comment here with info which ROM & Radio you have.

Reinstall HTC HD2 YouTube App

Hi,
I installed the youtube app from m.google.com thinking it would update my existing one.
But once installed, it looked completly different and not as nice as the preivous one.
Is there anyway to get the orginal YouTube app. Or is it still installed somwhere in main memory, as I installed the new version on the storage card.
Thanks for any help here.
The ROM version I have is: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
I have the exact same problem. The program is in the Windows folder but cannot get it back to the quicklinks button as i installed a similar youtube app and then removed it...which caused the quicklink for the actual youtube not to work
any help?
I made this mistake a while back.
What I did was backup my settings and appoinments via device center and myphone.
Then just factory reset the thing. It came back after doing so.
However I believe someone on here and made a cab out of it so it should be floating here somewhere.
Yep, tried the user made app but it was lagging so uninstalled it.
Will resetting remove all of the apps i have added to the device?
Thanks for the reply
