ALL worldwide operator Internet/WAP/MMS settings - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

This is the application (HP iPAQ DataConnect) from HP iPAQ 514 that sets the Internet/WAP/MMS settings for ALL operators around the world.

It's tested on my Tornado and it works fine!
Unfortunately it must be installed in \Windows directory and it's about 300 files, occupying a total of 2MB! Just install it, run it, select your Country and Operator and uninstall it to regain these 2MB.
Warning! After the installation, my system became unstable and I had to reboot. If it will happen to you, do not remove the battery, just turn off and on the phone to flash the filesystem cache. This instability is normal because there are a lot of small files installed making the filesystem cache crazy!!!!
If you get a "SIM Error" with DataConnect then run MMISyncApp and rerun DataConnect! I don't know why this happens, but that's how it is solved.
Yes, I know this app is a little pain in the a$$, but it surely works!

My DIY Tornado soft reset tool!

Okay, here is the story... Sometimes I just want to soft reset my Tornado to close those "unclosable" apps like MSN Messenger. So I wrote this little program to help me. Now I don't have to turn off the phone and turn it on again just in order to do a soft reset.
I'd like to share it. Haven't been tested on Tornados other than mine. Use it at your own risk.
Just extract the exe from zip, copy it to your Tornado, run from File Manager... you can also create a shortcut for it.
B.T.W, It DOES NOT work on Windows Mobile 2003 platform. So don't bother to try.
It's updated. No more stupid ARE YOU SURE question.
Few question asked (ok ? Yes ? are you sure ? )
But work ok for me
Maybe turned OFF Button and turned ON Button will be shorter don't you think ?
Thanks anyhow
edit : on the second RUN less question Asked. Only one actually "Would you like to Soft reset"
I guess other question was the Win Mobile 5 things when you first run a new APPZ 8)
Bonjour. It's updated.
I just made it for fun.
Planning to add scheduled reboot function. So it can reboot in midnight, and you get fresh memory for a new day.
Any other ideas are welcome!
If you are havign trouble making registry settings place documents and mail on the storage card because boot-up doesn't find the card fast enough, then maybe soft reset will help.
I will try. Thanks.
Well, I believe CeleTask free memory function is more than sufficient
You didn't understand me, but I think I was wrong anyway.
There are times when you try to place certain system folders on Storage. But when phone boots, it tries to write that data before it recognises the storage card, so it creates the folder in system memory again (I think in Application Data instead of original location).
My thought was that if you could make a registry change immediately effective without theneed for a bood sequence, you could have your data on the storage card.
However, recent reading tells me that for registry settings to take effect, the system needs to be powered down. So no good.

Click to collapse
+1 for CeleTask
And it also has the great Tools/Reboot shortcut

Orbit2, No GPS signal!!

I have O2 orbit2 in german and I've been trying to download the QuickGPS update for some months but every time it downloads to 100% and then it says "probleme with signal/conection try aqain later" but it never works and I have no GPS :-(.
Can anybody help?
Don't know if you still have this problem.
Anyhow, same thing happened to me. Tried all the registry imports but it didn't work. Couldn't even change my external gps settings, which were all set to zero. TomTom never found a gps device.
Backed up my phone with spb backup; did a hard reset; verified that gps was now working and that quickgps was updating correctly; restored my backup and finished. All is working now.
This may be a side effect of not having enough free memory on the device side, which causes certain files to go corrupt, i.e. drivers etc.
Hope this helps a bit....
I had the problem as well.
I tried other solutions found in other threads, but finally a hard reset did the job.
Édan's guess that the lack of free memory is the source is likely since my problem occured after i got several messages about too less memory.

Two problems (boot, file in root) and a question (Barcelona GSMA 2009)

Problems:
1) I'm having some trouble to boot, as sometimes the registry is corrupted and my device can't load some of the apps listed in the boot list. I must enter in safe mode and later editing the registry, wait some time, and try again. The problem in the list disappears but sometimes I can make my device boot in standard mode and sometimes I must ask for Safe mode without an apparent cause (this is: I don't modify anything in my device and it boots or sometimes it decides not to boot). Is there any solution or problem related to this ?
2) A file named TaskBarAttachLog.txt appears in the root folder, and increases its size continuously till my device begins to have problems with the free space. Then, I delete it and it begins to grow up again. There's nothing related with this file - I could not find anything in any .INI file, any .CAB file, any registry key - and I could not find any information in the net. Does somebody know anything about it ?
My device is an official (not locked for any carrier) Herald with WM6.0. working with Simyo carrier. Pagepool to 8 Mb. OMAPclock to 228 or 240, depending of my stressed life.
THE QUESTION: Is somebody coming to Barcelona to the GSMA Mobile World Congress ? (I suppose it's difficult, as I read the price for the tickets...) I'm having lots of things to do in other things, but I live about 400 meters from the fair, and it will be a pleasure to shake hands with xda-dev's people.

MighteyMike ROM Lag

Hey guys, I had a TP2 Sprint, now upgraded to MiteyMikes ROM (+WM6.5 I might add) but my fone doesn't mention "loading touch Flo 3D" upon loading up and also there is also Lag in software, turning the screen but a BIG lag when using the windows explorer.
Can anyone explain why that occurs and more importantly how to change prevent it...
Added info:
I think it cud be a shortage of memory. i have ordered a 16Gb mem card from china but its taking ages coming. so to test the fone, I have had to load apps on the phone memory.. could that be a/contributing reason to the lag and should i save the apps to memcard memory when i get it. Can I install them on mem card...
thanks for your help.. well in anticipation of it, anyway...

I had MightMike's newest build on my phone and it ran just fine. No lag or anything. It is one of the best roms i have used on my tp2. I always install all my apps to the internal memory of the device, unless the software says to install it to an external card. I have a 4Gb micro sd card and have no problems also. I just have all my music on there. I also have all my .cab files incase i need t hard reset.
If i were you i would either hard reset the device and see if that fixes your problem. If it does not fix it, reflash the same rom or a different rom.
Which MightyROM? Is it his 2.1 or 2.5?
Damn, Lag, really..?? I'm runnin his 2.1.10 release of his 2.1 ROM and this thing is blazin fast...! I have an 8gb minisd but I'm runnin just about everything off the phone and even with the apps I have loaded it still is fast as ****...?? Maybe try to reflash and do a hard reset after u flash, than give it a go, hope that works cuz ur missin out if ur laggin...
Easy one.
The below explaination assumes you have already HardSLP'd your TP2 and have some clue as to how to get around the WinMo OS.
Now, l337 code convict, If you don't mind reflashing your phone (again):
For future reference (becuase you'll flash again, I guarantee it): WHEN reflashing any rom you should "Clear Storage" before running the new rom's .exe on your 'puter --> this soft-resets the phone and your info will be gone, so use a program like PPCPimBackup, it's easy, fast, and cuts out the BS of having to use Outlook to sync pim information.
After the initial "Clear Storage" above, the phone will boot back into your rom, wait for everything to load (a good indication that the boot has arrived upon smooth or smoother operating efficiency, wait for the "three white horizontal lines with a down arrow" also known as the task manager to load. *its the thing in the upper top right hand portion of the black bar located at the top of your screen.* (this is imperative in any flash, even the stock rom)
After the boot has stabilized, sync your phone to your 'puter. (Per a previous post, if you're having probs syncing, go into your USB to PC settings and disable the "Enable faster data syncronization" option and say okay.)
Start your MightyMike installation and go thru the steps. Your phone will inevitably reboot. You'll probably have some waiting to do the first time it boots, with yet another restart.
Now, when the system boots your new rom installation, "Clear Storage" yet again (to clean up any installation files)
You'll reboot yet another time.
After this reboot, restore your pim info, load your extras, and for God's sakes, install At0mAng Enhanced D3D Driver. Reboot. Tweak away.
OH, and heed the words of Mr. MightyMike:
"——————————————————————————-
Please remember to provision your phone before configuring it!
Start > System > Carrier Provisioning
Not doing so before setting up your email, personalized settings will result in unforseen problems.
——————————————————————————-"
Lessons to take away from all of this:
Bottom line, wait for your phone to boot. You don't automatically start World of Warcraft and log into your Dalaran logged player while your computer is loading its AV software and startup entries, so give your little 520-some mhz PPC a chance to shine.
And a large HCSD card isn't going to make your PPC any faster. Your phone doesn't cache it like you have the availablity to do in Window$. Just install visual styles and "always running programs" into internal memory and games and other bullsh*t into your SD card.
Also, it's a good idea to do the following.
Reflash your stock ROM, then run a clear storage as indicated above.
Then flash the MightyROM, wait til it's fully loaded and run clear storage again.
After that it should be just fine.

[Q] Vox/S710 - Operational Problem?

Hi,
My Vox/S710 is not working fine:
1- Doesn´t boot with the Micro SD Card instaled. I have to remove it to phone start.
2- Too slow, and i dont use several programs at the same time.
3- Alarm starts by himself!
I´m using WM6 Standard. I never try to replace the rom.
Please, help! ( sorry for my english).
It happens with the original Standard WM6 ROM.
Try any of the Custom ROM's from this forum..... all your problems will be solved.
The shipped ROM is also working fine for me. You should try the following first:
Soft Reset the phone on a regular base (once a day) - this will keep memory fragmentation minimal. -> Switch off/on once a day.
Run chkdsk on your memory card. Put in a card reader on the PC and execute chkdsk <drive:> /f on the commandline
Always really close programs when you start another. WMPlayer is a big memory hog, other programs may be as well. Use the Taskmanager to close them.
For the alarms check if the notification queue has some zombies left. Use sktools to clean that up.
If that all does not help only then consider a hard-reset. This will factory reset your device and delete all installed programs as well as data you have entered (contacts, email, text-messages, everything on the device). The device is then from software side in the state like new out of the box.
Putting another ROM on the device will be like a hard reset + you have a new ROM with some problems solved and others probably created. You could go for that only after you did a hard reset anyway.
