Best Windows Mobile 2005 For Xda 2

Hi guys!
I own an Xda II and I'm thinking of upgrading it to WM 2005.
After having a look around I'm a bit confused as I'm sure are a lot of other people because there's so many different versions of WM5 to choose from on this forum that I don't know which one to go for.
Could someone please recommend the best and most stable version of WM5?

well, its same with me a long time ago..
don't worry guys.. after several looking in this page, there's a several rom for WM2005 which is :
1. Helmi AKU3.5
2. C_Shekhar Rom AKU 3.50C (the newest rom)
3. other (like virgy, etc)
In my Opinion, you should try c_shekhar rom. its very nice looking (crossbow theme), more stable, quite fast..
hope you find the suitable rom.

I was reluctant to respond to this but some how I find myself compiled to post my comment. I have XDA2 and I am using llbasha rom. All the roms have the same core structure except of adding/removing some freebies and here is my latest version that has been tested and verified by independent users (special thanks to twistedconnections and maslowyk). Always clean/embty your old ramdisk before burning new rom.

Go for llbasha's rom. I have been using it since the first version that was release by him. Fast and stable.

tofclock new ROM is great.. but i found out there is no MMS funtion..
how can enabled the MMS function in Tofclock ROM?? and i already installed old ArcsoftMMS.cab (v.2.0).. and i can setting the MMS but still no MMS function..ermm..

Finally, downloaded, first impresion : Yep thats what tigers likes most
Fast, clean, +-30MB after sr.
On real vga 128dpi works excelent very fast.
Thats what i heave to say after hour uising.

with all due respect m3oulla,
1st: currently, there are only two available roms flashable to enable 128Mb RAM on Uni; mamaich's & Lt.Cmdr.Ivan. so, if KOR is right then nncuong's ROM is the third!
2nd: currently, there are only three rom cooks who had managed to enable flash disk in their roms; mamaich & nncuong (nncuong claims that his flash disk was initially based on @anonymous rom. so, @anonymous must be the the 1st).
why the fuzz about flash disk?
1. in KOR's case, he can install the10Mb arabizer in a faster storage than SD Card. in mine, i install and access fast all the commonly big programs in it!
2. try to remove the SD Card in the slot & check how much program memory you gain - at least 1Mb! insignificant if you have 128Mb upgraded uni but so much for a standard 64Mb uni.
in all cases and in my opinion its TITANIC!!!
cheers bro, hope to see Flash Disk (specially since your ROM is vanilla) & 128Mb RAM support in your next ROM.

compliments to you & the beast for your latest ROM release. it's damn good, 'beautiful' & stable. one thing missing though - the flash disk!
i hope you can incorporate the flash disk & 128Mb RAM support in your next release.

Why does everybody wants the flashdisk?
Today, we can have 8GB SDHC-Cards and then are 20 MB needed!?!?
It also doesn't works on G4 and the data doesn't stay after hard-reset!

is it really stable? the beta has wpa-psk/tkip problem too & freezes a lot!
i wonder why nncuong never releases his newer rom's here. imho, his roms are the snappiest around although, not the most stable one! and don't flame me, i tried them all!

not everybody Max, only us G3 owners! it's a waste & unused anyway if not activated.
i also dare to challenge you that i can run my programs faster in it than your biggest & fastest sdhc cards!

But, speaking of the original source of these new builds: its the Darkforces Team I think they should come on the top of the list!

Got it, and testing it.
This is another vanilla WM6.1 rom, with 40mb of storage and 28mb for programs. the "extended rom" is visible and empty with just over 9mb on it. the camera works off the button and screen. bluetooth finds and pairs with another device. There doesn't seem to be anything extra at all loaded on it. Its very snappy to use, but has the most awful green qwerty key pad ive seen, and it doesn't change with the theme!! there is a 9 icon comm manager, and wifi conects straight away with no problems. if you want to ask me anything then do so

No, mms is not in this rom but sdhc/sd support is!
MMS is in Ranju's superb rom and sdhc/sd suport.

I do not need to have MMS as I use e-mail through exchange server. At least there is one positive point in this ROM. There is no significant leak of memory as in comparison with Ranju's one and it seems to me that this Rom is faster then Ranju's. Am I right?

So far its really good with working flashdisk and wifi and no problems with sat nav 4hr trip too.. only flaw no 3g icon. stable fast and a keeper, Sorry typing with 1 hand my son in other, Well worth it fellas give it a go...

Hi..Ranju's 7.4 was awesome and worked fine. But i am not sure what went wrong when it came for speed and stability with my O2 Exec. This is a mod version of Ranju's rom and so definitely you can expect all bugs and con's fixed up. The rom is not loaded with unwanted stuff. Comparing both i can rate Ranju 7.4 as 4/5 and this PDAviet as 4.5/5
But trust me after installing 7 roms i found only this well suited for my pda.
Radio 1.15.00 was the radio installed in PhamQuangs universal. You can always upgrade your radio to 1.18.00(downloading from Xda-developers ftp).

Radio 1.15.00 was the radio installed in PhamQuangs universal. You can always upgrade your radio to 1.18.00(downloading from Xda-developers ftp).

Please post your comments on the rom if you have flashed it..everything works great with my O2 Exec. I flashed the rom,upgraded radio to 1.18.00,installed spb pocket plus,snapvue theme(only the tsk-I love black),and a few more of my essential packs.Checked almost every need of mine

Yes, it seems icredible, but WPA-TKIP in this ROM still requires that old activation-deactivation-reactivation trick.
Besides, neither of the ROMs with build 19202 released so far, i.e. PDAVIET's and Frank's, have a flash disk included, for what I'm performing fast tests on the newer ROMs and keep returning to Ranju's v7.4 unmatchable one within hours.
Just my 2 cents...

Please note: Since this ROM is based on N. N. Cuong's previous ROM v2.11.11, therefore I believe that this ROM is for G3 devices only, though I might be wrong!
Can any G4 device users confirm if this ROM works on their devices! It has been confirmed by few users that it doesn't work on G4 devices!

I am using Ranju's last ROM 7.7, it is a very good one, i cannot imagine how a better ROM could be??
plz if any has tried both, tell us ur impression, is it worthy to change to NN.cuong's one?

Can't recommend this one - bricked my UNI and needed to follow the full Mamaich unbrick process to get it working again!
Currently running KDSKamal again, but thinking about switching to Ranju 7.7.

It is the fastest ROM i have ever seen in my life, not only for Uni but alkso for all devices i have used till now started with Qtek 1010 and ended with Polaris. It is extremly fast in switching between landscape and portrait, searching my contacts (2500 contacts) in a snap. To be honest, i didn't install a lot of programs, only the Arabizer of Imaginet (it is knwon as a heavy program) and anothe 10 bucks of medical programs called Skyscape (it is known as a so light programs). I didn't install any utilities or multimedia programs, didn't add any thing in today screen, it is alrady occluded . Really, give it a trial. The only questionable problem is some tolerable strange Radio behavior, will try radio 1.18 and decide.

But with this new ROM from Mr.PhamQuang, maybe this is the best ROM i've seen
This new ROM was ported from Diamond touch with build 19581
base on ROM 2.11.11

Free RAM when startup is 29.80MB
Flask Disk 21 M
Build in :
pBar 1.5.3 (NEW)

Since this ROM is based on N. N. Cuong's previous ROM v2.11.11, therefore I believe that this ROM is for G3 devices, though I might be wrong!

Now, i see the cause behind that great fast, surely because it is ported from an originaly VGA ROM (the diamond ROM). Good done N.N. Coung.
Can u please check for the recommended radio by N.N.Cuong?

Really, it is a difficult question, and the answer depends upon ur demands. Ranju's is a very stable and having a lot of stuffs. Cuong's one is fast as a rocket, vanilla, and ported from a VGA ROM, the base ROM for all the coming cooked ROMs in next days, and I dream if the masters of cooking could integarte the Manila stuffs in next ROMs. So, for me if Cuong's ROM provides me with the minimum level of stability during my drive test along today and may be tommorrow at maximum, I'll keep it till Ranju release a new Diamond based ROM.

I'm gonna flash the Master's NNCuong's ROM tonight, hoping that it is even better that the one I already use!
Your advices were very helpfull for me.

I concurred, n.n.cuong rom is really fast, this rom is as fast as his 2.11.11 if not faster,
this is how universal really should feel, fast and snappy!

Hi Paul,
Just out of curiosity, is your Universal a G3 device or a G4 device?
Though, sometimes the FAT does get messed up during flashing and then there is always MTTY to the rescue!

Yes, it is kindness from DaiThang to provide us with the translation. Unfortunately, both of my Universals are not with me. One is out for repairs due to broken USB port and the other is with one of my friends. So unfortunately, I cannot try this ROM and Ranju's v7.7 ROM for few days.
PhamQuang was the first one to port the Diamond ROM to Universal. This I posted few days ago and you must have missed it. The Universal with my friend has this ROM on it. Very fast and very stable.
Of course, combine PhamQuang Diamond port with the NNCuong previous v2.11.11, I have no doubt we have a winner on our hands. An extremely fast and very stable ROM with 21MB as Flash Disk.
