Qtek S100 ITA: can't be upgraded to new ROM

I open this new thread to put in evidence this situation that have commercial aspects too. I have purcheased my S100 on Expansys.it and the webpage had this header:
Qtek S100 GSM/GPRS Pocket PC (Italiano)
WellI think that this header is deceptive because it didn't specify what was italian: the device or or just the ROM. So Now I get a Country Error if I try to upgrade it to new Italian ROM.
I supposed to have such a problem like this and I asked about it to tech.support and that was what they replaied me:
There is no upgrade available for the moment.
But suggest your customer not to worry.
If there is update available, we will able to get them for him if he can’t, but he will….

Can we do something for this man?
We are trying to get the support for the Qtek units sorted so that our customers can do the upgrades. At the moment the units that we have do not seem to take the upgrades that are available on the Qtek site.

I received country error but no trick seems to work to avoid it. Did you know something else?

hi, we must verify what is the operator code of a "genuine" qtek s100 ita
maybe from someone that have already patched to 1.6 with qtek rom.
I think u should write to the italian support site http://www.windowsmobile.it/
also try to hard reset, reinstall the complete ext rom and then retry the upgrade.

If you already tried to upgrade using "ITA" as language and "DANGA405" as operator id, and you still have the country id error, it probably means they changed the algo for crypting data... i guess the only way to upgrade is to wait for gurus to find out new algo decryption.

It seems that passwords have changed...
how to find new passwords now??

plz try this procedure:
enter in bootloader mode
pressing camera + power + soft reset
then connect to usb
then launch the upgrade
it should find the magician without rom and can let upgrade the device.
Otherwise try also to change the maaupdate with ones inside the file radioupgrade 1.05.

Dice semplicemente: "spostati (in DOS) all'interno della directory dove avevi precedentemente messo i ROM files e da li lancia il file change.bat". Se apri il file change.bat ti rendi conto di quanto sia banale quello che fa (in termini di comandi, s'intende!).
Fammi sapere. Ancora non l'ho comprato stò S100 ma già mi fumano!

mi ripeto ma provate la procedura che vi ho consigliato
ovvero andate in modalità bootloader e vedete se parte l'upgrade
perche' con il change.bat non avendo le giuste pass della nuova versione e' impossibile cambiare l'operator code.

Hai ragione anche tu, "no new password? no party!".
anyway tu l'hai provata la procedura che dici? Potresti spiegarla + in dettaglio o indicarCI dove l'hai già postata? Grazie.

La procedura e' stata postata qui nel forum e a detta di molti ha funzionato.
Io un mda compact t-mobile tedesco, flashato con la imate jam 1.3 ver.ita.
poi ho flashato la rom radio 1.05 con questo metodo e l'ha presa senza fare storie.
quindi ci sono ottime possibilità perche' funzioni.
Alla fine e' il programma maaupdate con i suoi .dll che fa il check della versione.
si potrebbe provare anche ad usare quello della versione radio 1.05 che a me e a tutti gli altri non ha dato problemi di country id.
la procedura e' molto semplice
si premono contemporaneamente i tasti della fotocamera e quello power e si preme con il pennino il tasto soft-reset
dovrebbe uscire sullo schermo difficilmente leggibile perche' sara' sempre senza illuminazione una scritta tipo serial
poi si collega il cavo usb
e sullo schermo del palmare esce scritto "usb"
e si lancia il programma di upgrade.
quando dice rom precedente dovrebbe essere tutto bianco, quindi lui dovrebbe passare il check.
alla fine e' molto piu' semplice di quanto si possa pensare.

After several attempts I could upgrade my S100 with MA_DANG_ITA_10604_119_10500_Ship.exe ROM by windowsmobile.it. The problem was due to the fact that each time activesync stopped to run to let upgrade start, Windows XP started the procedure to recognize a new hardware (S100). Each time this procedure starts, it invalids upgrade procedure. So new ROM can be dowloaded to let Expansys costumers upgrade S100 devices.

i'm not sure about what you're saying. I uploaded my MDA COMPACT with new QTEK WWE ROM with country id error "trick".
Then I uploaded radio to 1.05 without the trick. i guess radio upload doesn't care about provider id or language.
Non sono sicuro di quello che dici. Io ho fatto l'upgrade del mio MDA Compact alla versione QTEK WWE 1.06 e ho dovuto usare il trucco per aggirare il country id error. Poi ho aggiornato la radio alla 1.05 senza trucco, probabilmente l'aggiornamento radio non tiene conto del "country id error"
se qualcuno ha provato a mettere in "boot mode" e a fare l'aggiornamento alla nuova rom 1.06 ITA lo faccia sapere...

I have flashed my S100 (ITA) with the latest WWE Rom from the BootLoader (YES ! I did it and I am not desperate anymore!!).
It wouldn't work otherwise.
I guess you could try to update from bootloader too.
MaUpgradeUt checks for operator id, which in the case of Italian S100 is DANGA405. It would stop if OPID did not match.
Since the newest ITA upgrade MUST check for the same operator ID, I would proceed in bootloader mode, if it failed to upgrade using the official suggested procedure.
NO! Don't ask me to try it myself ! I had an ITA ROM before... I have and English S100 now and I like it the way it is!
At the end of the day, it is much easier for me to understand 'Button Lock', instead of 'Serratura del tasto'... :lol: (this translation is driving me crazy !!) :lol:

How can I install your worK? I tried to launch setup.exe from the notebook via activesync,
then I tried to copy all the software on the SD card an launch setup.exe and autorun.exe
from there... but nothing happened. How can I use the .img file?

thanks for the mod, just one problem after succesfully upgrade to this rom when i plug in/out my mmc card... the mda magician performs a hard reset.. is this normal?

i just upgraded with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.
when i'm going to see what's in the mmc i see just a directory and a couple of file.
when i plug out the mmc a hard reset occurs and i have to set up the system again from the beginning.
is there a way to disable this thing?

i can not use the bluetooth when i try to switch on i receive the follow error:

i'v already HD reset but i can not resolve the problem .

Comunque era ciò che intendevo sopra: non esistono ancora versioni della ROM della Qtek, ma solo di altri brand (Dopod, Imate, ecc.)

Mi sembra che per chi ha SPL *.0001 non esista ancora un programma per fare il CID-unlock, quindi non si può installare nessuna ROM, tranne quelle che non controllano il CID (quelle no-vendor-ID).

Io ho un S200 in ITA, ma non c'è verso di fare un ROM dump.
Per farlo dovrei sbloccare il CID ma l'unica procedura nota prevede il downgrade a una versione 1.xx inglese, quindi a quel punto avrei già sovrascritto la ROM italiana
Questo è anche il motivo per cui non ho ancora tentato un upgrade...

RomUpgrade.exe è in inglese ma nella prossima versione la metto in ITA

la pw non ha motivi particolare, infatti fra poco penso che la rendiamo pubblica,
ci è servita per avere idee abbastanza precisa su quanti usano queste rom, tutto quà è stata la prima cosa che ci è venuta in mente... niente particolare.

Seeking help from Italian users

cerco aiuto in quanto tempo fa' avevo installato una rom (non ricordo quale)
e installando la rommi si e' installato anche un immagine durante la fase di avvio del telefono.ora vorrei cancellare questa immagine visto che non utilizzo piu' la rom ho provato in mille modi ma niente non ci riesco,ricordo che tramite root explorer si poteva cancellare ma non mi ricordo i passaggi da effettuare,se qualcuno mi puo' aiutare cli ne sarei tanto grato grazie in anticipo a tutti.

I think this is the simpler way to change bootanimation (from an italian blog)
