Syncing pop accounts? - General Topics

Hi,
I would like to be able to synchronize my Gmail account (which is configured in Pocket Outlook on my pda) with Outlook on my work PC.
Let me explain : My problem is that pop access is disabled on my work PC. I also cannot access Gmail from the web interface since the IP is blocked.
However my pda (HTC Prophet) can access Gmail via EDGE; so my idea was to get my mails using my prophet and then use Outlook on my desktop PC to read them; or write my mails from Outlook and send them using my pda connection.
It seems ActiveSync only syncs the main Outlook account, not pop accounts?
Is there any way to do what I want to do : manage my mails on my PC and use my pda to get/send them via EDGE?
Thank you very much

Please help

Hello,
I am new and experiencing dificulty configuring my email with outlook, I have read past threads but none seem to cover the specifics of my dilema.
I use outlook 2003 to access my email, the email address is my own domain, I have outgoing mail SMTP and Incomming POP3.
I can sync my pc ok with outlook (so my emails, contacts, tasks etc are added to my orbit) but it doesnt let me configue my email settings (incoming and outgoing settings etc) under the outlook tab of the orbit, to send or recieve emails.
To make this clearer I when I set the email settings I have the choice to chose either POP3/IMAP4 or Outlook, If I chose outlook then it takes me to a wizard to configure exchange server (which I dont have) So therefore I have to chose POP3/IMAP4 which works but it sets up a different folder to the synced outlook folder.
So as it stands I can send and recieve emails from a pop3 account on the device but not the outlook account unless it is connected to my pc.
I hope this makes sense, however if you need any more clarification please ask.
Please please please help - I have little enough hair as it is but am losing more by the second trying to work out how to do this.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
outlook mail == using outlook on your pc to send the mail using what ever type of mail system outlook on your pc is set to use
if you want to mail without being connected to your pc you need to make a pop3/stmp setup on your phone
not all isp's who offer pop3/smtp mail accounts will you access them externaly though with other then webmail
Thanks for the response.
I can set up pop3/imap4 on the device easy and it sends and recieves no problem via the gprs network.
My problem is that if I want to synchronise any emails that have been sent to my device with outlook on my pc (so I have the same inbox on both) it doesnt work?
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks again
Steve

I-mate JASJAR outlook Mobile Question

I have a question about the inbox of Mobile Outlook
-Suppose I have POP email ([email protected]) and that is the only email account I use.
- When I synchonized my Device with ny Desktop outlook I get All my Folders,
mails and Attachements.(Which is Perfect).
But Unfortunately not the mail Account settings.
That means I can't send and receive mails by GPRS connection.
So I'm Obliged to make the same POP email ([email protected]) as a new account.
-Now I have the same email twice
Is there a way to check the POP acount on my device and have the mail show up in the Mobile Outlook inbox, instead of the separate "POP" mailbox?
I don't want to then sync my device with my PC, and have the same messages in two different mailboxes.
Right now the device sees two accounts (1) from my PC and (2) the POP email account.
I want only one account since the "two" are actually the same account.
Naturally that is the case, otherwise you would have complete confusion as you picked up mail on outlook on your pc and then picked it up on your JasJar.
There are 2 options for you:
1. Use Exchange Server, this allows you to have one email account and then you can activesync through your gprs/3g using your mobile connection wherever you are without connecting to your laptop.
2. change your mail account settings on your outlook on the pc to leave a copy of messages on the mail server, then don't sync your mail with outlook on the pc, just use your one pop account on your Jasjar. That way you can pick up mail on your pc and mail on your JasJar. Of course it will be duped and you wont have copies of sent items on both, but hey, not everything is perfect unless you use Exchange.

ActiveSync Query (Mobile mail without duplicates)

Ok guys, I'm not sure where to post this or if there is a better website to answer this query.
I have a personal email address, setup in Outlook 2007 on my PC
e.g [email protected]
I have an O2 XDA Mini S, running WM6, that has sync with above PC
What I want is that when Im at home on my PC, that I can download my mail onto my PC, attach my XDA and the mails will be sync'd onto my mobile devices e-mail, now thats fine I have it that far.
But what I also want is that when I am mobile, I can use the WiFi connection to download my mail (if i have new mail) into the same account and folders on my mobile device...... then when I get home my PC and Mobile device once again sync up sharing the mails that they have.
Currently when I connect my mobile device, the mail sitting on my PC is sync'd over to the folder - account - Outlook E-mail on XDA, but there is no way of editing this account etc.
While when Im on the move my mail is downloaded via WiFi to an user created account where I put the settings for my mail address
e.g [email protected]
pop3.email.com - incoming
pop3.email.com - outgoing
and so on. Is this possible and if so how?

Send mails from "Outlook E-mail" account

Hello,
Is it possible to send mails from the "Outlook E-mail" account which is synchronized with my Outlook from Windows mobile phone ? When I want to answer to a mail, it is saved in outbox and then after next sync my Outlook sends it. so i always have to use my own configured mail account there. and answering on a mail from "Outlook E-mail" is not possible...
Hi,
for doing this, you need to configure your mobile device to fetch e-mail directly from your isp's mailaccount via pop3 or imap. that's something completely different from active sync.
be aware, if you configure pop3 you need to leave a copy of the mail on the mailserver for pop3 downloads messages. in that case you'll get your mails only on one device (mobile OR pc/notebook). the solution would be imap.
so you need to configure your mobile device just like your outlook account on you pc/notebook (server, username, password).
Plus, you'll need to have a look on your data transfer. if you access you mailaccount directly, the mails charge your dataplan. so take care of size limitations while configuring your mobile device (only headers prob, and limit size of attachments unless you do not want to download huge mails).
Hope this helps,

No other way?
I have my outlook account, synchronised with all mail downloaded at the office and an imap account to retrieve emails on the go. As the imap account is cleared after office download, there is no archive inside. Both accounts are linked to the same email address.
I would like to be able to work on my mails (outlook account) and then send replies thanks to the imap account.
In office 2007 there is an option to enable you to select the account to be used for repling or sending emails. No such option in WM6?
Thanks
Michel
Ps. On top anyway to retrieve several emails accounts in one go?
I think you are looking to sync your company email. You will need your IT dept to set up Exchange for you to do this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...ketpcphone/email/company/exchangeoverair.mspx
Thanks.
Sadly I'm not using a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Outlook is directly retrieving emails from my imap server (sync with my Kaiser). When I'm roaming, I retrieve mails on the imap server directly.
I'm not able to reply to mails previously sync (outlook account) when I'm not at the office - This is an issue as I'm consultant and I stay days without coming back to my home base.
Thanks for your help
Michel
Message up.
Sorry & Thanks
hey man i hated that too i thought that m$ didnt make this a thing you can do out the box.. just download emoze or another similar app that will push everything to your phone and from your phone to your comp.. if i were you when you do this dont have it push your contacts because when you plug in to active sync it doubles
Thanks - I will give it a try.
But it is weird it is not possible to select the account to be used when sending/replying to emails.
I tried to copy/past my answer from my outlook (sync) account to my roaming one and this is not even working.
Any other idea?
Thx
M
No solutions?
Maybe using another email client?
thx
M.
pocket outlook is gimped without exchange... also, exchange 2003 has push enabled if it's up on service pack but lacks html email and some other instant sync capabilities that 2007 has...
if i didn't setup my own server i would def say paying for hosted exchange is worth it... ive messed with all those other sync/push clones but nothing comes anywhere near to the functionality/ease-of-use of having direct sync with exchange.
I will check for an hosted exchange server.
As a temp solution I will try FlexMail 2007: It is possible to reply to sync mail with another account.

Would this fix your problem? Set Outlook on your PC to "Leave a copy of messages on the server", and have your Kaiser retrieve all your messages from the IMAP server directly, whether you're in the office or not. If the Kaiser is connected via ActiveSync, it will use your PC's internet connection anyway, so no extra network charges.
That way all your emails are in one account on the Kaiser, and you could even turn off Outlook mail syncing in ActiveSync and reply directly to emails from the IMAP account on the Kaiser.
If you can't find "Leave a copy of messages on the server" in Windows Outlook, on my version (Outlook 2003) it's under Tools/Email Accounts/View or Change/Change/More Settings/Advanced (well hidden).
Can't confirm this option is there for IMAP - I use POP3 myself.

I haven't done too much looking at exchange hosting solutions but I think $10/month is the minimum you'll find... mail2web appears to have good hosting solutions.. you can try out their free service but it requries you to use their email address unless you upgrade to the $10/month plan.
Hi I just downloaded windows live onto my verizon xv6800, but when i go into setup new email account in outlook and enter my email address and select automatically get settings, it then says found settings for msn.com, but then it just transfers me to windows live. Outlook & Hotmail

First post....first question
Hi guys, i was looking for a way to syncronize my hotmail account with pocket outlook, is ti possible??
On my pc i've installed "Outlook Connector" to sync them...
...something similar for ppc??
I searched through the forum but i haven't found anything
Sorry for my bad bad English...
Probably a lot easier to use Pocket MSN.
If you try and create an Outlook account to hotmail from Mobile 5 onwards it will probably start Pocket MSM anyway.
you can go to hotmail's website, look for the perferences requires to setup your mail account.. and then go to Messaging/Menu/Options and click New Account
insert all email account properties.. and voila.
On my phone that would not work. (Qtek 9100 WM5.0(Wizard))
As soon as you create an account of the form [email protected], the New Account wizard is cancelled and you are dumped into Pocket MSN whether you like it or not.

I think "nir36" means to go with your PC on Option page of your hotmail account...and than select the option to redirect all received mail to a NEW account!!
Am i right??
If so...i'd like to use my actual address, but if there's no way...
...i'll use Pocket MSN
Thank you guys!!
How to get Hotmail on your Windows Mobile phone
The easiest way (if you want over-the-air sync, data charges apply of course) is to use Windows Live Mobile:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334621
Install the cab, run the program and enter your hotmail address and your password. you can then choose whether you want to sync your address book and/or your emails to the phone.
Your Hotmail account appears within Pocket Outlook as a separate account.
After the first sync, you can then set up your emails to be pushed to the phone, sync'd at regular intervals, or only when you initiate it.

wow, this is a real complete application, i'm playing with it now and i'ts ok!!
the wizard is simple and everithing works; it creates a "Windows Live" account under the Outlook one in the ppc!!
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Sadly, Windows Live Mobile still doesn't allow task and calendar sync with Windows Live Calendar.
So, if you want to go a step further and cut your ties with the PC and abandon ActiveSync altogether, I'd suggest you use Google Calendar for that function instead.
Web (Google Calendar) to phone (Pocket Outlook) two-way sync can be achieved via Google Mobile Sync which uses Exchange, and can run in parallel with Windows Live Mobile.
For PC (Outlook Calendar) to web (Google Calendar) two-way sync, just use Google Calendar Sync.
Voila! No need to dock your phone to your PC for PIM synchronization.
i assumed you have WM6..
A related question, I used to sync my hotmail account using pocket outlook, but here is what I actually wanted:
1. I want to download the mails as usual, but do NOT want them to be deleted from the server when I delete them from the device, is there anyway to do it (I am using WM 6.1 Pro and my hotmail account is non premium).
Thanks
