Is there a way to make the side button bring up the dial pad? - Palm Treo 750

Is there a way to make the side button bring up the dialpad program? If so would someone please show me how?
Thanks in advance!

not sure, if you can try making a shortcut link to the Phone.exe (I think) somewhere in the \Windows directory.. and then assign button to it
most WM should already have this phone shortcut in Start->Programes

The program that calls up the dialpad is phonedialer.exe. It's already in the \windows directory.
What I don't know how to do is to assign the button. When I call up the program to do that I just get what seems to be a set a list of programs.
By the way, what steps does one take on these devices to create a shortcut?
(edit)
Figured it out - made a shortcut, pasted it into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and then could assign a button to it.
Thanks!

How to remap a hardware key?

Hi
I need to remap a hardware button to run a program, but I haven't been able to find a reg tweak for it.
I've found these:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMaps
But from that I can only figure out how to disable or switch the mapping around.
Does anyone know how to do a reg tweak so I can map a hardware button to launch a specific program?
Thanks
Create a lnk file (shortcut) to your desired application, with one of the following names and put it in \Windows folder.
Short_Home - Home
Long_Home - Home
Short_CAMERA - camera
Long_CAMERA - camera
Long_POC - IE button (the one from above long volume up button)
Short_POC- IE button
Aditionaly:
Short_AP1
Long_AP1
Short_AP2
Long_AP2
Short_AP3
Long_AP3
Short_AP4
Long_AP4
for the phones with the 4 extra buttons above softkeys.
eg:
If we want CoolCamera to open at a long press of Camera button:
- make a shortcut to CoolCamera.exe (with Resco Explorer for example)
- rename the shortcut to Long_CAMERA.lnk
- copy the shortcut to \Windows with overwriting.
Aditionaly you can map Long_VolDown & Long_VolUp.
Edit: more info about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMaps:

Thanks, but that doesn't work on the C500.
I don't have any shortcuts called anything like that in my windows folder. I tried creating one to test it out, and it was a no go
Any other ideas?
Not exactly what you are after, but you do know that you can assign programs in your start menu to speed dial right? Sorry if you already knew that. Another option is AEButton or whatever its called, but its pay software.

What OS do you have? WM5.0?
PS: that works fine on my HTC Tornado with WM5.0 and WM6.0
try this:
the instructions remain, just the shortcuts filename will change as follow:
CaLP & CaSP - camera
HomeLP - home
LP is coming from long press
SP is coming from short press

How to create a shortcut to today screen

Hi,
does anyone have an idea how to create a shortcut to the today screen?
i believe it's in a dll or some other hidden windows file, yet i can't seem to find it (and couldn't find it in windows documentation).
I read about some today.exe which was created for this purpose, but couldn't find the file
Anyone smart enough to solve my problem?
Greetz
Just curious, from where do you want to create a shortcut to the today screen?
From iFonz, so i can switch to default today screen fast and easy
just double-press "Windows" button

Try Resco Explorer.

Don't see how that would help me, so since you have to pay for it, i would like to find an other way...

Assign a button to 'close' apps?

On an earlier ROM that I flashed (forgot which one) there was an option to assign ' <Close> ' to Button 2 (Start>Settings>Buttons>Select a button>Assign a program)
Currently only <OK/Close> is available to be assigned to that button but that doesn't necessarily actually close the open app, it sometimes just minimizes it depending on the app.
How can I use button 2 (the IE button) to actually/really close an app?
Perhaps put a <Close> into the assign options, but how?
I-Mate K-Jam, TNT 19199 Professional Wizard V.2
here is what I use:
Put the exe in the \windows folder and the shortcut in the
\windows\start menu\programs folder, then assign it to your button
.
Thank you, that works well....
but what if I just want to close the application that is currently open, not all of them?
oh Yea...sorry about that..You could try Smartskey, it has the option of assigning a long press of the right soft key to truly close the current app

Blackjack II: Long Press Home Key, how do we change the app launch

Hello, I'd like to change that long press HOME key to celetask, does anyone know the registry that handles this
thanks
I give up, I can't figure it out
cook your rom
or
make a cab file to overwrite the taskmgr shortcut.. put the celetask shortcut using the original shortcut file name.. this will load celetask instead.

Remapping softkeys in TouchFlo 3D

Apologies if there's already a thread about this; it seems like there should be, but I couldn't find one.
Anyway: I recently upgraded from a Kaiser to a Touch Pro (AT&T branded Fuze), and while I like the TouchFlow 3D interface in general, I'd like to remap some of the softkeys do do different things.
For example, I use O3Touch as a contact manager (http://www.o3touch.com/screenshots.html), so I'd like to have the "contacts" softkey on the home page, and the "all people" softkey on the people tab to point to that instead of to the default contact manager. I never use the calendar, so I want to use the "calendar" softkey on the home tab for something else.
I can't find any obvious config files, reg settings or apps that can remap softkeys within the TouchFlo interface. Can anyone help?
download and install total commander and navigate to \\Plugins\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila and change HomeLSKPath, HomeLSKText, HomeRSKPath, and HomeRSKText to what you want. You can only change the softkeys on the home tab though.
Thanks!
That does exactly what I want.

Can someone here tell me what is the app name for the Contacts application, I want to put the shortcut as one of the home screen softkeys but couldn't find it.
I searched \windows folder but it's not there. Thanks.

Sorry to ask here, can't find with search.
Is there a possibility to remap right softkey in order to turn on/off wlan.
It would be useful.
Maybe just putting the link to "Windows/Comm manager" or something more
direct?
EDIT:
No problem I found solution
