after extracting the rom with core pro, in the extract/splash folder i got 2 files. 9d000000-HTC.nb and 92000000-Splash.nb. can i use any of this to create my own custom splash screen? and can someone tell me the different btwn the two files.
9d000000-HTC.nb is the first splash screen (eg HTC) and 92000000-Splash.nb is the second splash screen (the one before welcome to windows). Both of the image files you see can be used to create your own splash screens for your rom.
The Molski devpack details how to do this. Thequinoxe wrote a detailed tut as well.
This is also written in the wiki.
Hi there,
anyone knows how to change the 1st splash scrren ???
(not the second one which is easy by copy the animated.gif to windows directory)
thanks
It's a part of the ROM. You have to flash it to change it.
but how can I make it on my own? or any good Splash rom made by someone for Polaris?
check the link in my signature (polaris chef corner). you have links to two different tools in post #1. (look for customiza splash screen)

Hi Guys,
I like many others have been plagued by dull boot/splash screens. There are a few tools out there that claim to do it all, but most are not for G3 prophets too.
After hours of searching i came across this tool so please give credit to Gullam, EqX & FlnixNOver for their hard work.
I have only modified the instructions so it is clearer for noobs and altered a couple of files. I wanted to post this so all can enjoy creating and posting their screens.
Moderators, can we sticky this please so all can find this easily? It be good to have one page for the tool and screens that have been created?
All the files you will need are in the zipped folder and there is a word document with instructions on, so if you follow, there should be no problems, i created the attached just a trial and worked first time. I wil now get my creative hat on
Enjoy and get posting with your screens.
Thanks and I'll tray
Thanks for this.
Ive followed your instructions and used the images you have posted as a trial but neither of the files come out the correct sizes?
It will work fine if u follow the instructions and ensure ur images are the right size, try images of ur own or resize mine to the correct size using paint.net or other tool. (for some reason mine have been resized when posting, right click and look at properties and u will see they are not the right size)
It does work, i have been trying to automate the process using lastnikita tool for G3 but cant get that working.... yet
If u do use ur own, post them on here
help
the second spash screen is not created...
this is what i did as instructed
-splash.bmp(240*320 potrait 24 bit) changed to signed.002.nb
-signed.002.nb renamed to signed.002
-splash2.bat run
-but after that file called signed-splash.nb was supposed to be created but nothing happes a black window pops and closes quickly but no file is created what to do?
wot version of window r u using? rom? model??
..
sorry i forgot about this post
i dont get error installing in ppc... as instructed second splash screen must be installed via signed-splash.nb created in pc...which cant be created.....executing splash2.bat does nothing...
although it worked for first screen..
Hello again all. I have two questions, first should be pretty easy. Does anyone know how to extract the picture from the splash.nb that is in the root instructions or anywhere I can download a standard picture of the default mt3g splash screen for editing.
Also can we use the same g1splash application to convert or is there some other process that we will need to do to make a splash for this device. Thanks in advance.
Oh come on lol somebody has to know.
got this page by using the SEARCH Function,Hopefully next time you will do the same.

you know i asked the same question, and the link you post, just like every other smart ass answer i got, is to create a splash image from an existing image, NOT to extract the one from the splash.nb. so before you flame someone, make sure you understand the question.
TheArtizan: im trying to find out the same thing, and once i get that damn mytouch splash out of there, ill make sure you get a copy of it.
It gives you advice to make your own all i did was show you wehere advice is to make your own.Sureley you can find the original image and edit it yourself.
EDIT
If i had noticed it was artizan that asked the question i wouldnt have bothered replying as his knowledge is far more extensive than my own
there are some pictures of the mytouch booting at the splash screen but the splash itself only exists as an .nb hence he wanted to know how to extract the .nb, unfortunately there is still not an answer to that question.
DID IT!
ok, here is how to get the splash out of that damn nb file...
download the attached nbimg
extract the exe to somewhere, open command prompt and run the following
nbimg.exe -F Splash.nb -w 320 -h 480
voila! you have one mytouch splash.bmp....
i have also attached the splash, for those who dont want to extract....
After seeing quite a few I <3 Windows Phone themes, I thought we should have something for TG01
So, created some!

How to change the Start Up screen
Choose the file you fancy, rename it to welcomehead.192 and copy it to /windows folder on your device. Restart, Enjoy!
All files are in .png format and if you copy them as it is and just rename them to welcomehead.192, it should work. Please let me know if it doesn't
How to change Splash screen
a) I have also made an animated .gif file if your ROM has a splash screen, you could replace it.
Splash Screen will ONLY work if your ROM already has a splash screen cooked into it. If you are using a custom ROM where splash screen has been removed, then you can't use the animated screen. If you try to install, you won't see any change! Don't worry, it won't brick your phone!
in HKLM\Software\Toshiba\StartupAnimation:
Enabled (DWord) : 1
GIFFile (String) : \windows\animated.gif
Change the one in BLUE to the WM_animated.gif, so that new animation file will be used instead of default 'animated.gif'

HAHA!
That's no problem at all, we will write feedback to XDA on the thread and ask them to provide more thanks per day
Miro, if possible, can you please test the animated splash screen on tg01? I can't. I think in your ROM you have removed the splash screen. If I get feedback and suggestions, I am ready to bang out some more of these babies
ha, tnx, again (i find 5x tnx per day is not enough)
yes, no prob. i will test it and i will make a cab with enabling htc animation!

Thanks Miro!
I will rename it as well as put it in first post so before install it can be changed.
I will try to flash stonROM tomorrow and see if it works.
Also will put in first post so everyone knows that it will only work on ROMs where splash screen is cooked in!
Thanks a lot for the help my friend

Try changing the name to welcomehead.192.png and it should work. All the files I have updated should be in .png format
WinMo will only use the file if it's in .png format.
Thanks drupad2drupad, welcomehead.192.png is the right name.
But I can't replace the existing file, how I can change the permitions?

u can use an external file explorer like Resco file explorer. In properties of file, untick system and hidden. Once u have replaced the file simply put the ticks back for new file. Hope this helps
Thank You again drupad2drupad.

You should be able to replace Orange splash screen with animated.gif - animated WM screen in the first post. You need a registry editor like Resco registry editor or total commander in order to make the registry changes I mentioned in first post.
Aha, now I understand. I'll try again wit WM_animated.gif from your first post.
