I just picked up a Samsung Blackjack i607 to play with. I like it a lot, but I plan to stick to the T-Mobile SDA for awhile because it has WiFi and I can't give that up.
i607 uses WM5, v5.1.342 while my SDA uses v5.1.70.
I really like how the i607 can play MMF ringtones. I have a big collection of them and would like to use them on my SDA. It can play them with Windows Media Player Mobile 10 so there must be a CODEC involved. Is there any way to extract the MMF CODEC and install it into my SDA? I also like the WMP skin that came with the i607. Can that be extracted and used on my SDA as well? I found a .skn file in the Windows Media Player folder (in Program Files I think), but it was a tiny 21-byte file and didn't add the skin to my SDA. I guess the real files for the skin are probably in the Windows folder.
I can't access the Windows folder via USB, and I can't beam most files in the Windows folder either. What do I need to do to unlock those folders to be visible on the PC or able to be beamed? Is it part of "ext ROM"? The Blackjack actually has many nice apps, can I extract the CAB files for those apps from the ext ROM or wherever they reside?

I found some windows media player mobile skins a few weeks ago which wern't quite what i liked, does anybody know how to build my own or what programs ill need?
you dont need any programs. Use notepad to make "skn" file for WMP and use paint/photoshop or any graphic editor for making the graphics
I say the easiest way is to ask for permission of the owner and edit instead of from sratch, fastest way
all skins from later wmp i've treid to use have worked just fine
im wondering if i can have mp3 ringtones.
cause them default ones are really bland.
yes.
put them in the folder /aplication data /sounds
..or in the root of the storagecard.
... or in My Documents on Storage Card
It has been possible since Windows Mobile 5
Macromedia themself. And distributed by Microsoft. Here is the story.
Hi,
I got this info from the Modaco board an decided to dig
into it (tweak it a bit)
http://www.modaco.com/Beta-Macromedia-Flash-pla-t118617.html
This exe file is directly from a download at microsoft.com
and is a true Macromedia stand alone flash (.swf) player
for Windows mobile 2003 and higher (ARM)
SmartPhone
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/tutorials-dl_sp.mspx
PPC
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/tutorials-dl_ppc.mspx
PPC Phone Edition
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/tutorials-dl_ppcpe.mspx
But the players are basically the same (tutorial.exe = a projector)
In the pc world this player is known as saFlashPlayer.exe.
The version of this player is Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r79
You can also create a standalone EXE file (projector) from a swf file.
Copy the file (or the upxed one) to any folder (or in Storage)
and run it once. It will automaticaly create the registry
entries for you to play .swf file from explorer (or total commander etc)
Perhaps a 7 version will be found as well somewhere....
Have fun,
Cheers
ps: I included the HPC version as well
Seems to Work fine on Hermes WM6.
But has this some command line options, so i can start a projector in fullscreen mode when i launch ?
Other way to start a swf in fullscreen ?
Thanks
Thanks, thanks, thanks...
I searched a lot of days for some realy working standalone player. I messed up with some activeXes, not working fp7_ppc_en.cab flashLite 2.1 3.1 junky....
and this is exactly what I need. exceent.
Single exe file, just copy it and go !
(But myabe is a little bit outdated... it is version 6.0) But it doesnt matter, it is working with a charm.
thanks.
what is the most effective way to stream video on your PPC
i ve got a tytn II.
my question:
1. How do I use the 'streaming media' program that asks for rtsp:\\?
2. I also want to stream video directly from my PC from my tytn. i had to set my PC as a VPN server for my tytn to view the shared media file but it wouldnt play anything. I could only view the files.

I have the HTC network plugin installed which allows me to view all my shared files and folders from my desktop on my device. I use TCPMP to access my desktop shared files and folders to view my appropriately converted videos and listen to my desktop's music collection. (All this at home over WIFI connection.
When away from home but still using WIFI (any open unlocked WIFI hotspot) I use Winamp remote which I can leave running on my desktop at home. Logon to winamp remote from winamp remote website using my internet browser on my device and access my shared folders (had to direct to these specific folders using Winamp remote from desktop first) and view videos or listen music on my device which are on my desktop computer at home.
thanks for the reply. i tried the HTC network plugin. it looks like a promising little tool but it fails to detect my PC i am afraid.
i am also curious as to why I can ONLY view the shared files on my PC while doing a search through the 'file explorer' over a VPN connection seeing that my Tytn II and my PC are on the same network? this seems unneccesary and I think is the reason why the network plugin wont detect any PC on the network.
not sure what I am doing wrong.
p.s. the TCPMP woulnt install on my tytn II either.
I installed the tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab . it gives me an error msg "unexpected program failure.please send crash.txt to developers"
i am using WM6.1

I'm surprised it won't install. Download it from another site and try again.
strange strange - i tried the network plugin with a XDA Ignito aka HTC touch diamond and it worked like a charm. was able to detect all devices on my network and was able to run all media file using coreplayer. PERFECT
gotto thank hotrod101 for pointing me in the right direction.
so i guess i need to sort out my tytn II out - i cant say i m very happy with the device. i ve had problem with it ever since i ve updated it with WM6.1 and prior to it.
still looking forwarding to hearing from someone about the rtsp:\\ streaming media thingy bobby.
Hi!. It turns out that there is a computer program that would be nice to have on my tablet and would be useful for my university classes. The "program" is really an .exe file and there is also a folder called "data" and inside that folder there are many many .swf files. I CAN open the swf files separatly but I can't open the exe (what the exe does is ... well, basicly organising all the swf's with an interface, the text, menus and stuff ). Is there any way in which I can get that program to run on a Android tablet?.
Edit: I managed to convert the main exe file to swf, now I gotta see if there is some swf player on android (pretty sure there is )

.EXE files couldn't run on Android because EXE is Windows executable and won't work on Linux or Android.
About swf player you can try this: SWF Player
It worked. I could convert the main exe to swf and it works on android. What would be REALLY cool would be to convert the main swf + the data folder (which contains the swf's that the program uses) to an apk file. I don't know if that's possible
not quite running it on the tablet
OK here is a solution but not an answer, you can run programs like splash top to view and controll your PC wirelessly over wifi from you tablet. Its like $20 for a year so you don't actually run the program on your tablet but you can run it on your computer on your tablet from anywhere in the world.
