please don't answer with "try using search"
i tried searching and was unsuccessful. maybe i don't phrase my searches good enough or maybe there isn't anything to found. Either way, i didn't find anything. anichillus' site is down and i need to figure some things out.
can someone please point me in the direction of a tutorial.
if not, can someone please tell me how to figure out where to put all of the dll's and stuff that is in the "missing" folder?
its in the kitchen's help folder
Anichillus siad he will work on more in the future
and for the dll and other missing files, find them, then cut and paste them into the directory that they are said to be missing from
The only one I know for the whole kitchen is under C:\Core\Help. You're probably best to ask achillies (sorry if I spelled wrong) directly, but if you look up the specific component/process that is generating the "offending" pieces, you might be able to find more info on why it thinks it's bad, and how to resolve it. Sorry I can't be more help.
I'm also a noob and I'm trying to follow that tutorial. I have a base nk.nbf in the source folder and I click on dumprom and I see a window flash up and then it's gone. I don't see anything in the dump folder. Am I missing something?

does the dumprom make a window popup that asks if this [Core\Extract\Source] is where your nk.nbf file is?
that should happen first before you can dump it
Download Here

It will place a folder on your C drive inside the folder open the help file

Hi and welcome to the Forum,
have you tried to flash the Rom again, maybe that will help.
okay, so I looked at all the rom cooking wiki's, and rom update wikis... can't find out if this is even possible or how to do it.
basically, there's some games and applications built into some of my roms that I want to have in one of the custom cooked roms that I liked. so how do I move it over? is this even possible?
if so, I haven't been able to find any posts about this... so sorry if it's already posted somewhere.
TIA
you must have the phone connected to your computer. move the cab file over to your phone after syncing. Find the file on your phone , click and install.
I know how to install cab files... I mean extract them... is there a way to extract a program that's already on an existing rom?
for example... xxx's WM6.1 rom has game A included. how do I extract that so I can put game A on my phone?
yeah dynamite, think the other way around.

extremly difficult...all though it is possible its not worth the effort...you would have to go through file explorer and find each file accociated with that program...then every regestry key...then create a cab from these files that would install them into each appropriate directory....yea...
Hi, i'm new on this forum, and i have few questions about Manila (big thanks for authors ).
1. Where can I find description of files (I mean what file is for what )
2. It's all in XML?
3. How can I get Manila files?
4. How can I edit these files? Can I edit in 'on the fly' files from my PDA (I mean directly in Hermes or copy few files into PC, edit, upload to PDA and SR) or do everything in PC and compile?
5. Finally, software for that
Thanks for answers, regards
Sory for my English, i'm from Poland.
Here is a very detailed explanation of the settings file (HTCHomeSettings.xml):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427531
try to search for the others, there is a lot, especially themes.
hmmm, thanks, but i found this too. But I think about edit tabs or something like that. So I want to know much more than only HTCHomeSettings.xml. But it's better than nothing.
'try to search for the others' - do you mean use search to find descripson for every files one by one? :/ themes? I think about deeper editing
You can only edit resourse files, we don't have the source for the program.... in other words, just about everything you can edit is in the the htchomesettings .xml (and the files it calls)
joel was right,.
until now, we need to edit the HTCHomeSetting.XML,. and the file it calls,.
like modifying clock, etc,.
Thanks, this exactly is that what i want read
Hiya
So I figured that i better go a learn how to use this UC that i find extremly clever - however there's a few cab's that i would love to change abit to my use, for instance dont make it install all the apps its trying and so on...
However i dont really know where or how read the file - ive downloaded WinCE trial version and oped the cab, but wich file type does what and so on? Ive tried abit, deleting some program files however i still need to edit the install files to tell the cab not to install the program at all, so are there anybody out there who can guide me abit on the right direction?
And es ive allready searched this site and google, but i havnt found anything usefull :?

Which program is it that you're trying to edit?
Have you tried editing the config file that lists the cabs to be installed?

If you by config file means the xml file then yes - so far so good - however now im having trouble rebuilding the cab - ive tried several times using both winrar and alZip but i cant seem to rebuild the file correctly - it dosnt even have the right size even though all ive done is to extract the files and rebuild em - what am i doing wrong?
Perhaps im just too dumb to get it - but when i open the cab file in WinCE it dosnt seem to display the _setup.xml at all - so how do i edit that file and use WinCD to rebuild the cab file?

Ive also seen that link under my search - however the site just says: "down for bug squashing..." so not much help there anyway
Thx for the offer - however the main reason is i want to learn how to do it properly
CabWiz i has been unable to find for download :?

to edit a cab, you need to have the WCM file. you can also unpack it using a Package Creator (v2.7) makes the changes needed, and create the cab again with the modifications using your CECabManager

Hmm yea i understand that much - however i fail to see how i can edit anything in WinCE when i dont have the xml file when i open the cab? I do understand the i need to unpacvk the cab, ive dont the with different programs, ive also edited the xml file to fit my request but i simply cant repack the cab with my edited xml file and get it to work? What am i doing wrong?

CeCABManager supports importing information from an *.inf file.. not xml files..
you can just provide the info on the cab to the app and it'll pack it for you..
