since you're using a different rom... i guess the safest way (but most probably not the fastest) is to backup your whole pda then reflash the old rom and recover your contacts then sync it using activesync to back it up then restore your backed up rom then connect through activesync to get the contacts.

yes ,i think it's only way to do for now

Hi Zoher,
Use SPB Clone....Just wonderful....
Hi, how can i download a trial version of Spb clone?
you can if you believe you can
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/clone/download.html?en
no no.... what i meant was for someone to post a backup of wm2k5 so i can see if i can use that restore on my xda2i running wm2003se
i know it wont work..but still wanna experiment
TIA
impossible to restore a backup of xda2 wm2005 in xda2i
think little would come out of restoring a backup from one version of mw to another apart from the person restoring ending up with the data from the person who backed up
that is if the restore was successfull
lol.. dont waste your time.. its not working dude!
Backup program .. Backups only the Registry, Database and some files that are not in ROM .. even successful restoring it to your device will not restore the OS itself .. you will just get files in My Documents and some registry (which apparently from HIMALAYA) ..
PS .. no backup Program yet is fully working in HIMALAYA Magneto (Sunny Soft Backup manager doesnt backup the database.. .. i use mtty.exe/romupdate.exe to backup 1.60a or 1.50f.01FRE but this is very unconventional method ..

Flashing ROM - Installed Software

Sorry if the answer to this is somewhere, but I just cant find an answer.
Will flashing my ROM reset everything, and will I loose all my installed software / email / contacts.
Thabks guys ...
yes you will lose everything , think of it like re-installing an operating system on a pc from scratch, you can of course, make a back-up of stuff before

If you flash a UC ROM you can re-install programs and configure settings automatically after flashing.
See here for more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337
And you can use PIM backup to backup anything you dont Active Sync (although WM6.1 SMS's can be buggy).

using pim.vol to back up contacts

Hi, I was using the guide here: http://karhoe.net/content/view/21/1/#josc641 to upgrade my phone from WM5 to WM6.1 using Standard ROM from XDA-Developers, made by illi & rickywatt.
before flashing, i transferred a copy of the pim.vol file to my computer. after flashing, I try to transfer it back into the new WM6.1 OS to restore my contact. But after that, when i try to access my contacts, just the title page pops up momentarily for like 1 second and then it's gone.
anyone know how to fix?
thank you

why u not use PimBackup before flashing?
i didn't know such a software existed. excuse my ignorance.. what can i do now?

Looks like the structur of the pim.vol file changed from WM5 to WM6. I'm afraid you're copy is useless unless you find a way to extract your contacts.
A solution might be to reflash WM5, use your pim.vol-copy to restore the ontatcs & then use another way of backing up your contacts before flashing WM6.

[Q] Restoring original rom help

Need a bit of help guys. I need to revert my focus to the original rom. I updated to nodo thinking I could unlock and sideload afterwards, but of course.. I couldn't. I've reformatted my pc since then and don't have my old restore point. I'm downloading a 7008 backup from a user here on XDA (thanks munkeyphyst!!!)
but I don't know how to get Zune to see it as an old restore point. Can anyone tell me where I need to put the files?
I have XP SP3.
thanks in advanced.

any chance he has shared the backup in a thread? I am in need of such a backup as well. The files are all saved in your zune folder by the way, if you make a backup of your phone you will find them.
