different layout? get a skin
I'm pretty happy with this rom, NO Xing out issues and a decent program free memory

Send Space Download

You should've left google maps out, regardless nice rom.

if the response to this rom is good. ill make a even more clean rom for you.

Sounds great.
The ROM looks very good but i experienced, the "OK"-Button sometimes seems not to work (using the stylus). Can anyone confirm this issue?
Happens to me f.e. after aligning the screen and installing programs

Double tapping does not always seem to work either. It seems the only sure-fire way to navigate is to tap start menu, and then go into today screen or programs or settings. Task Manager has so far been the only way I have been able to close items.
Barring that...I am loving how bare this rom is! With it connected to pc, active sync running...Storage= 47.46MB, in use 2.78, Free 44.69...Program= 51.96MB, In use 27.39, Free 24.57
Initial loading time seems a bit slow, but otherwise going from program to program is a breeze.
So how can this "OK" button issue be fixed, as it seems to be the only real setback to this.

nice clean ROM...wonder how much mem left after this installed...gotta try this.....get back soom...thanks alot....like the clean rom

maybe one of the senior members can help me out removing all the Touch Dllls in my kitchen, i used the one from double_004 cause i got TOO many errors on loons kitchen not sure why if its based off mattkr's kitchen since his was the first kitchen I used ever..

finally a vanilla rom! most of these roms are nice and stable but since i own a license to resco explorer i don't total commander and many of the other freeware apps. IMO resco is MUCH better than TC. i love google and WLS (rant) but i'm pissed @ ms right now for not adding my workplace to their db. i work for a new cvs/pharmacy store and we opened up back in february and a few months later a walgreens opened about 3 miles off from us and they are added and we aren't in yet. /rant

hi
Is it same version 5.2.1908 Build 18508.0.7.0, ported by Double_ofour mentioned in his post ?

Whats the base rom of this? There are many different base rom version numbers, and even different ports of the same version number. Would be helpful to know what this was built off of as some of them have various issues.

Another way is using the SIP's "OK"-Button.
Well I tested the whole weekend and I love it.
Unfortunately there's no touchflo integrated. (I love that cube) but i think, I can add it somehow. Have to search for it.

I hate Touch Flo lol
Version is CE OS 5.2.1437

Just have to say that this is an excellent ROM and the one I've been looking for, the only program that I don't need it's Tetris (btw it's not a good port), installed yesterday and works excellent (for me) after a few tweaks. I noticed that after speeding up the processor, the touch "X" problem dissapear.
It will get ran out of memory if you open a lot of programs (WM6 stuff) I just fixed removing reg entry for Windows Live.
Excelent work!!
Keep working, be happy!!!

SPB Pocketplus 3.0 - Anybody use it?

Anybody use the new version of SPB Pocketplus 3.0 - loaded features - but what abot the lingering problems? Still there ?
I have the version 3, I had it since beta. I have to say that it does clean up your screen nicely as now everything can be tabbed. From Weather to pocket Plus to GPRS Monitor and the Diary.
I don't see much use for remapping the buttons as most of that can be done in the native app that comes with the PPC and the addition of the Safe Mode is a nice touch. I don't see any speed issues and so far I must say I have been quite happy with it.
Thanks sZamot,
I read in the SPB doc's - this allows you to finally install it on Main Memory or Storage...unlike the earlier versions..
Where did you install the it? Sorage or Main ?
I installed SPB Pocket plus 3.0 in Storage and works with no problem. Indeed, Safe mode is good to have, and it's nice that i can monitor storage card and storage (in 2.5 version only Main Memory could be viewed).
Wow!
Thats good...just downloading the 15days trial version...will try out and see...
Thanks Guys..
Rgs/DD
I installed it main memory, but come to think of it I will put it to storage. I won't put it to The SD card because I sometimes swap those as I take differnt movies or mp3 with me. I will do it now and see if it jives.
There's a comprehensive review of PocketPlus 3 on Tekguru
Come to think of it, once I installed it to the internal storage it run like ****. Not only was it solw but I would have to switch a tab before my calendar would show up. Even with a single day view it was slow.
I just installed the 15 day trial of Pocketplus v3.0...Works good on my IIs but one problem I noticed is that when replying to a text msg, my device sends 2X....
heres how it does this on my device.... after replying to a message an envelope icon appears and the message "message sent", but it doesnt dissapear as it shoul, and when I click on the icon again, another "message sent" message appears!!!!...Im now thinking of uninstalling the program
2 phat all you need to do is set tmail as an exception to the close option on spb plus as with the other versions works a treat for me

gr8 software
hi..
maybe the best thing in spbp+ 3.0 is that it runs on magneto.....though it ran better on my 2.20 CHS(safe mode don't seem to work in magneto),but it's gr8....
the best thing is that i can open multiple pages on my PIE,save images, choose whether i close all the opened windows or only the opened one on my explorer....
the gr8 thing that it supports plugins, almost everything u need, whether, finance, player for music files, folder plugin that includes ur favorite files, and even live clock on today screen(coming soon).
it's faster(at least that's what spb site say),and best of all, there's an iconset software wich let u choose ur icon from an even bigger library
NB:there a cab file in this site for spbp+ 3.0 full version(search is on ur up left)......enjoy it...

Yep, I agree. But I experienced a problem with sbp diary on magneto.
selecting "options", the option screen does not actually appear - which makes diary useless.
Anyone else noticed that?

I installed SPB Pocket plus 3.0 it works with no problem.
IMHO: The program is TOO BIG and not useful...

yea ur right my friend MapisM i did'nt noticed this problem when i wrote my post
anyway it would be gr8 if the options in spb diary will work in magneto so am working on the problem....
i played with the registry with no use so i thought the file itself don't work.
i've localized(it's so simple)the spb diary options.exe file, and tried to run it from its location, but it seems that its not working...
now what i need 2 know is if someone is using spb diary succesfully(options is working) on another OS(2003-2003se)....
thanx for noticing bro....still i find the software gr8...

U r welcome, thanks to you for trying to find a solution!
Unfortunately, I don't have another device where testing the behaviour with another OS, and can't flash mine back and forth, 'cause I need it for work.
...besides, I looove Buzzmobile5 too much to even think of returning to 2003!
All the best for your tests, though probably also sbp will fix that soon...
Am using SPB 3.0 Licenced with today plugin of SPB Diary (Trial) and SPB Weather (Trial) and also SPB Finance (Trial - but not using today plugin) on XDA IIs
1. The "Option" works fine on my unit with SPB Diary, weather and SPB3.0 - No issues there.
2. I did notice one thing though - if you use your unit and havent booted like say for a day/two - you realize you main memory reduces - i.e when i stated off i had appx 71mb running with no softwares..after a fresh boot...
Even without using much softwares - after a whole day - i noticed the memory down at 62MB ! Thats nearly 10MB Gone and no sign of anything running ! - I re-boot the unite and Lo be-hold - Get my 10MB back !
Memory leak ! can anyone confirm this ? Is it due to SPB ? Dont know for sure...Speed slows down after a long term use...must soft-reset to bring things back to normal !
Integration between Weather and Diary as TABS is beautiful - no issues so far. Speed or contents within the tabs come up on the fly...
SPB is memory hungry - thats for sure - how much they really improved - is just a matter of debate...it has become better - but if you can live with these issues - a great software to have on the unit!
Rgs/DD
yes, devdarshan... u r right..
spb pocket plus is causing the memory to fragment... i need to do a soft reset every 2-3 days to get back the working memory.
IMO, its the close program option which is closing the program but not releasing the full memory occupied by the program.
instead of the close option on spb plus, i'd revert back to DTSysView to close all the running programs, and then see if the memory loss is still there or not.

nervous and excited

Getting ready to purchase 2 FUZE's. One for my wife and myself. She wants the iphone but I think the FUZE is the way to go for 2 big reasons. The FM radio is a must and the being able to watch the slingbox. I have read the wiki, noob rom basics, and this is what I am thinking.
I think upon reading i will need to
1. Hardspl the phone. (can you do this with a VISTA?)
2. Choose rom (NATF ver 2.3 seems the way to go)
a. I think his rom unlocks the fm radio no need for a cab file
b. I think it pulls up you tube from hidden att menu correct
3. Dont think I need to do anything to the radio as far as rom.
4. Patience...maybe play with phone for 2 months before trying to flash
a. Might be better off flashing from start since not used to phone any way
Anything else you think might be helpful before I purchase...
nervous and excited
Youre pretty much righton the money with everything... although speaking from personal experience dont waste any more than the first 10 mintues youd use to make sure the phone powers on with the stock ATT rom. Ive heard good things about NATFs rom...i personally use PROvens. just be sure of two things HARDSPL before flashing a GSM (not cdma) rom and also you will need to revert back to original spl and rom if you need warranty service
alright heres my 2 cents..i got mine last week and had a kaiser before and i have gone through stages of flash junkyness and from my experience with a wide variety of roms i went with Monx' RomeOS..he made pretty good kaiser roms (even tho i always stuck with L26's roms and Dutty before he left) so i noticed monx on here and his rom is off the hook..havent tried the other ones but by default ROMeOS is hooked up..you have alot of stuff in the system menus like forcehires (for forcing qvga to vga) you have alot of tweaks already in place but heres some really great programs that really open up the functionality of your fuze
and heres a link to a VERY thourough guide another xdaer set up with all the cabs he talks about
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446306
and heres some info n my setup which ive acquired through the use of my tilt and now some changes with my fuze to form what ive found to to give the fuze the most capability
resco file explorer - really good touch optimized file explorer
quickmenu - cascading type of start menu that really rocks and has alot of extra functions
aebuttons - allows you to map applications to all buttons on the fuze (like camera for the ptt)and even multiple apps for each button (1 press, 2 press, 3 presses, press and hold)
gscroll - allows you to use the front button pad as a touch screen and act as a dpad or scroll and even use your gsensor as a dpad or scrolling and EVEN add more app shortcuts to double tapping the 4 butons on the front pad (because you are TAPPING not pressing it utlizes the touch screen not the hardware press)
gyrator - good autorotation app
htorch - use flash as a light
lumos - better than default auto backlight manager
wktask - give you tabs on your top bar like on your desktop windows task bar
thumbcal - finger friendly calender (very nice)
icontact - best finger friendly contact manager
xbar - when you hold down the action button it pops up in a little
window and acts a as a task manager and has menus as well whch you can
put shortcuts in too
heres a link to my cabs
http://www.4shared.com/file/74989849/d6a4d6e4/Fuze_Cabs.html
Thanks for the tips above. It is confusing reading all the different cabs out there because the descriptions given are vague at times to what they accomplish. I saw a you tube video of a FUZE and the sluggishnish seemed to be gone. I wondered how did they do that and then got to here. I am really looking for a rom that will decrease the sluggishness and remove the hard to read grey screen. Unlocking the radio feature was a bonus that pushed me to this phone.
Also for the cabs you listed above are they in one file for all the one listed above. When i hit the link I see on file only. I thought it would be one for each.
I think today is the day I order my FUZE!!!!
that file is a zip with most of those cabs.. if u get a chance tonight ill find and up all those cabs yo my 4shared page
Thanks Paz...got my fuze yesterday. I works and I have not done anything with it. I will try to hardspl it this weekend. just trying to decide on a rom. It is a must to include the radio but I need to make a cool theme and icon look for the wife's fuze. I dont think she is digging it. I think its the grey att stock rom background.
I would say the best way to spice up her phone is to get
S2U2 (Iphone like unlock slider on the dev and hack forum)
S2P
Rotating wallpaper (24 pictures that cycle every hour)
Galarm
Custom themes are located in a few places so look around (Diamond, Dev and hack, Raph)
I have to say, you should NOT get your wife any ppc phone unless she has some sort of knowledge about the WinMo OS. Otherwise you're going to have to be tech support for her from here on out like I was with the wife's 8525. I recently got her an iPhone 3G and, after the initial setup and basic instruction, she hasn't had to ask me a single question about how to make something work and has been able to download and install the apps she wants on her own.
You can say whatever you want about the iPhone, but it is the best phone for people who want a powerful device and have no clue what the hell they're doing. It really is the consummate idiot-proof device. (No offense to my wife if all the stars aligned and she finds this on google or something)
I agree

I agree with this statement. I started out with the HTC S710, S730, and when I got my Kaiser last year, I got my girlfriend an Iphone. Why? Because it's really idiot proof, so to say. It does not crash. Does not require any real setup. She has enjoyed it from day 1 and uses it everyday without resetting for weeks! Works great with the dock (it rings from the phone, not through the damn connected speakers.. even if they are off!)
With all that said, I will never purchase an Iphone for myself.

[Final Release] JustStable - Let's find the bugs!

XIP: 21041
SYS: 21042
PocketIE: 21043
http://justkitchen.info/JustROMs/
Current Build: JustStable - Final
For more information about my ROMs, you can visit: http://thewingster.com/ivanmmj.aspx
This is to keep track of the bugs in the ROM. So far, I've squashed most of the bugs I've noticed but I just ported a whole new build, so there might be all new bugs to deal with.
Current Reported Bugs:
Themes are missing
Lack of Splash theme
Fix the double click to choose weather on HTCHome
Fixed Reported Bugs:
Change the "Browser Choice" to only the Wing keyboard shortcut and not the the Opera shortcut. Remove it and the Mortscipts from the Herald builds (as it is no longer needed without that Browser Choice
Removed proxy hack that was causing problems with HTCHome's weather.
Cabs won't delete now.
Fixed the VGA screens. Now they're QVGA again.
Suggestions:
Use older version of ArcSoft.
Update version of Jbed.
Remove ICS Control
Go back to the old task icons. Or at least change the Edge icon.
Add notepad with open with.
Add HTC Audio Manager
Yes Ivan your Back. Looking Forward to this rom.
Ivan if we ever get android running on our wings, you should be the one who makes JustEMPTY...lol a super duper clean rom made for running android
P.S. You should join the chatroom hotnsteamy once in a while.
I've thought about it... I can easily make a SUPER crippled ROM with nothing but just what you need to boot android and I can easily make it hook and autorun android.
Nice Rom Ivan
Hey Ivan -- downloaded and using your JustHacked14v3_-_LZX_Wing_Edition.7z and I love it! Very fast, Very Stable.
4/5/09
Yay nice to see something new from you =]] Cant wait =]]
Awesome! I would switch. Running Just2Clean right now, and love it (other than randomly losing 2mb of memory every hour) lolz.
Can't wait!
I'd probably use it. Much like you, I too have noticed that just about every newer ROM has some sort of quirk with it. Sometimes big, sometimes almost unnoticeable. Most are tolerable, but other times you'll run into a ROM where MMS doesn't work at all, or where threaded messaging doesn't work, or the State Menu has an intrusive white block in it, or where the volume control bugs out, or where the preinstalled version of Jbed is unstable, etcetera. It would be nice to have a ROM that is wholly bug free, but I would imagine that it would be hard since I assume that's a goal of just about all chefs.
I'm interested ivan, will be waiting! Thanks!

Well, the good thing is that my ROMs are smaller and therefore, there is less stuff to go wrong, and I can focus all my attention on making the smaller set of features work properly. ^_^

I'm interested. Here's the flexibility I've been looking for. Fairly minimal, clean ROM, but with optimization that could allow me to add/install and run beautifully the following:
(what I'd call my "Personal Configuration")
(a) TouchFlo 2D interface
(b) M2DC customizer for TouchFlo
or
(c) iFonz -- since there will be a completely new release in March, and possibly widgets, so it may become again my favorite navigation tool.
Also, for me must-haves, or I can add these and still get optimal performance:
(d) Large Windows Start Menu, as well as all other menus (this was done in Microlab's (PDAViet's) latest Herald ROM), and I shouted "finally! Hallelujah"
(e) WkTask (in English) -- or some other simple, single-action "close this, switch to this" Task Manager ...vs all the multi-columned default stuff that takes 3 steps to do anything.
(f) the latest Total Commander (ideally, I would want this to replace the limited-value "File Explorer" as the defult
(g) S2U2
(h) a way more decent default dialer -- ideally like supbro's iDialer -- (and even more ideally with every single trace of Windows miniature default interface revised for finger-touch control)
*** Of all the annoyances of a Windows Mobile phone, from my first T-Mobile MDA, thru my current T-Mobile WING, it has been the terrible user experience of simply calling people, and answering the phone when people call me. Between the lack of detection for when phone is to ear to lock all functions and prevent accidental touch-screen activations); to the pathetically byzantine way of simply ADDING A CONTACT, and providing the MOST USED FIELDS *first*, like Name, work phone, home phone, mobile, without having to use a microscope or scroll way down to find a field; to the totally inconsistent methods of EDITING a contact depending on which screen you're on in the interface; the inexplicable confusion of an incoming caller "Save to Contacts" function that then makes you press "new contact" or "blank contact" whatever it is -- instead of "just frikkin add it as it came across with caller ID, and I can edit it later"... when you add all of this together, it's a stoneage experience of using a phone. If Microsft fixed nothing else, except the phone/contacts/history entire interface, they'd eat into iPhone sales.
(i) Something I would really really love: The ability to get WIndows "Pictures and Video" Folder to go to a designated folder I choose for where I store photos, vs every time taking me to Device > My Documents > My Photos, making me then select "Storage Card", then Storage Card again because Windows assume you want to use their multi-layered file-pathing... That would make me 2nd most happy, after having "phone that just works".
(j) Single-tap WIFI ON- WIFI OFF "program link"-- i have to always add a cab file that does this
(k) OperaMini, with that script that opens the javabed and the app built in as the DEFAULT browser. Honestly, I wish I never ever ever had to use IE, but alas I am forced to for various functions even after setting a default browser.
THINGS I WOULD PREFER BE REMOVED WITHIN ROM:
(a) Games. I can add them if I want
(b) Windows Media Player. Seems almost everyone uses HTC's Audio Manager..... (Me, I am liking much more the newer "Nitrogen" player) ... But I would much prefer Audio Manager as default, and WMP availa as a cab file if someone really wants it.
FURTHER THINGS I THINK OF AS REQUIRED, but others have different preferences:
(a) PCM keyboard, with decent selection of skins built in... I think one of the best ever is from "2many" or "2manyphones", but there are several that are large enough for finger-tapping.
======================
Everyone has their fav's, but I am answering with this detail because I have no idea right now which ROMS can best support and provide me this configuration that I deem, for me, to be Minimally Required. Right now I am using thanhy25's new herald 6.1 ROM touchflo 2D... which has most of what I want, and a bunch of stuff I don't want.

Just as the name says, stability is the key. I want something usable, stable, lacking of bugs and that I won't be annoyed with. One major example is the contact issue you mentioned, I also find it annoying.
Wow - something I rarely see at XDA! Thorough replies; thank you. Since this is just a wish list, there's one other annoyance: I'd like to have a shortcut link to "Remove Programs", so I don't have to dig into Settings > System > to get it. And a cherry on top would be a layperson's access to any setting control to make it a shortcut link, like Backlight for example. If I'm not mistaken, this capability is partially there in Quick Menu -- another app I love, but it wouldn't make the cut for a minimal ROM.

I am not technical enough to know. I can only go by how efficient it is to have 5 icons to the right of the Windows Start icon, indicating 5 apps open, and maybe they are Total Commander, OperaMini, iContact, Notes, and my music player -- and to switch apps i tap on the icon; instant change. If I tap and hold, a context menu comes up (like a normal right-click), and i can close that app, or set prefs for that app -- such as "always hide this app" etc. It's also got a slidable adjuster of the total width of the open-apps icons showing, with a "continued" right-arrow appearing when you move to the left cutting off any icon (very Windows task-bar-like). Sorry I don't have a tangible answer, but I'll shoot a video clip of my using it so you can see its responsiveness.

Worth noting is that Supbro's got some pretty tight integration now with iContact + iDialer, they both call each other, and he's also added now "Green Button", which, like hard-button remapping apps, assigns iDialer to the Green Call button, which makes for some pretty seamlessintegration. And his iDialer works perfectly with the other strain of iContact, Burt's Edition. What I've had to do, as my best workaround solution for the Windows built in dialer, to handle all the in-call functions, is use this: Snachez's "iPhydle" skin atop Paul De Groot's Minimal Dialer -- which seems to me to be a replacement dialer. But when I asked Supbro a month or so ago, he said "Paul's Minimal Dialer is not a true replacement dialer, but rather just a skin. That's not the read Paul's post, but again, I'm not a coder so .... ??

Does HTC's "Album" solve that in their implementation? A_C has been steadily improving "S2V" (slide to view), but it doesn't alleviate that Windows problem, and i'm guessing it's too bloated for your lean standards. ... A related note: in "Microlab's" (PDAviet's) latest ROM, he's added a control setting that lets users assign which folder S2U2 should go to for Wallpapers, so he's somehow broken apart one of the setting controls A_C uses within both S2U2 and S2V... and the photo folder selector functionality is some subset of A_C's S2V app, but as far as I know, Microlab has not cooked in the whole S2V app. All of which is just my speculations that those 2 people would be good sources for code solution ideas. I don't know how freely people share code, but i know that's a core value of XDA, and I know for fact that A_C and Supbro collaborate and share solutions. Not sure this is helpful, but just trying to compile all I know of "what's out there right now".

Either in shortcut menu, or a dedicated icon/link for those who use app launchers (I would use it in TouchFLO or ifonz). There's a cab called AE Wifi Trigger which accomplishes this perfectly. It switches on WIFI, (some people complain "but it notifies you, I don't like notifications"...) and then promptly pops up the wireless networks found in range. Tap it again and it turns wifi off. Honestly, if I were information-designing Windows Mobile, I'd have ditched the Comm Manager long time ago, replacing it with the single function applets that just do what you want without drilling down, then having to select, then having to open settings. For joining a wifi network, that's 4-actions to accomplish what this particular trigger does in 1-tap. (Reminder to self: please refrain from bashing MS)

I respect that. installing as a cab works fine anyway, for me. ... But speaking of PCM, I forgot who his "competitor" is for finger-controllable calendar -- the people who make "ThumbCal"... That app now has a fee, right? I do like it, and *some* kind of calendar is essential. Too bad once again MS hasn't done anything to improve theirs in years, if ever.
I so look forward to what you cook up. Thanks for being patient with verbose style. Most of the Herald people tell me to get to the point.
oh, one last thing: Not sure you consider Google Maps essential or not. But about a month ago Google released "My Maps" for their mobile app, replicating most functions of the desktop web version -- but only for Android so far. But this is cool -- The Developer Project Lead for the whole Google Maps line lives in my neighborhood, and she was telling me she was hopeful that people would use the API to port versions of the Android version of "My Maps" to Windows Mobile. I told her about XDA-dev and she was thrilled with the prospect of someone at XDA dev porting it to Windows Mobile. And as a footnote to a footnote, the designer of the G1 phone also is in my neighborhood; he was responsible for the Android user interface as well as aspects of the T-Mobile phone design as well. Just in case anyone reading here is part of the team at XDA seeking to port Android to Wing.
Can't wait!
Sounds great! I will try it! Shure!
P.S.: of course I would like to see a kitchen of this rom Just a Joke!
Status Update:
So far, I've got the following running FAST and Stable:
XIP: 20924
SYS: 19588.1.1.2 (I'm having some problems porting the 20924 SYS.)
Once I get the SYS properly ported and the OS 100% stable, I'll start working on the little details. So far, I did replace the dialer for something more stable. The new dialer has a easier "add to contants" on it, too.
That's excellent news! I was wondering where you'd gone, then it hit me. "He went to work on it". that's great re an improved way to "add new contact" from a phone call interface.
Good luck on the project!

Various Problems with Fuze

Ok forgive me for actually posting a new thread. I am about to give up on the fuze and thought I would try to ask a few questions first.
Background: I was an early adopter of winmo phones (had a Wallaby, Alpine, Hermes, gave up on a kaiser and went finally to a Nokia n95 until my current trials with the iphone and the fuze) Frankly, before I was the mom of three kids I could manage to keep up with the technology, but now it all might be more than I can handle. You tell me if these are stupid questions I should know the answer to already.
I tried the iphone for 30 days, loved the out of the box ease of use but couldn't believe there was no voice dialing, cut and paste, video, etc. Now I am trying the fuze.
I managed to load up energy rom 3.0 the first day I got it, so that is what I am running. It is beautiful.
Problems:
-lower screen flicker (looked it up, changing to less than optimal brightness does not stop this from happening intermittently)
-youtube wont run (says there is not enough storage space to run - req 8mb - but I have more than 12 free)
-Even though I have it set not to delete my email off the server, it does. Then each time it connects it deletes ALL my mail off the phone. This appears to be a new problem, but a big one.
-browsing is clunky with IE and opera. Can I run safari on this thing because it worked great on the iphone - much more smooth and quick on the att network (sorry, true).
-finally found a storage card that the phone could actually see. Now I am wondering if there is an easy way to move all sorts of files over to the card. Are all files safe to move to the card? Can I move programs? Can I move my more than 300 contacts over there?
-google maps finds me in budapest more often than Austin TX (where I really am) what gives with that?
- I do miss that nice big screen on the iphone. So when is the fuze 2 really going to get here? Anyone think it is worth waiting for? This fuze is costing me a 2 year contract and I could wait...
Thank you in advance! I have spent hours in this forum trying to find answers to my questions. Now I am just asking and I hope I won't be flamed out of existence.

You can install programs to the storage card, but I don't recommend moving them manually. The registry still thinks the programs are on the phone storage. Other files such as music or pictures should be fine though. You can set your camera to take pictures to the card as well. I don't think you can store your contacts on the memory card, why would you need to? Contacts are nothing more than text, surely they aren't taking up much memory at all.

The Touch Pro 2 is supposed to be out later this year on AT&T. Apparently it's out right now but that's the HTC branded version and it's almost $1000. It's a 3.6" screen at 480x800 resolution, that sounds pretty good compared to the iPhone to me. Running WM means it'll still be a resistive touch screen which means it will never be as fluid to use as the iPhone's is. Still, with an interface like TF3D or SPB Mobile Shell 3 you can enjoy swiping your finger just as much.
Hope I was helpful on some points
I suggest trying different ROMs. Not that there is anything wrong with the one you are using but each one suits different users differently. I am a fairly new user to winmo (about 6 months) and one thing that surprized me the most is how much research and time it takes to get the device working to my satisfaction. I love the fuze, I like to tinker and tweak things.

We don't flame people who provide details about their problems/concerns, who search first, and who aren't militant about getting a response.
I hope something I provided helps.
In regards to the GPS problem with your location, tap the clock on the homescreen and make sure it has your timezone selected as your "Home City". Google Maps uses this as a default location just to speed up GPS fix time.
If the setting is correct, go to Start -> Settings -> Clocks and Alarms and make sure your city is selected there too, since this is a somewhat known bug in the newer version of TouchFlo3d v2 (sometimes called TF3D2, extracted from the HTC Topaz and Rhodium).
For your browsing experience, check out the new version of Opera Mobile 9.7 -- turn on Turbo Mode and it's SO FAST! I'm loving it, even my friends with iPhones are jealous

Best ROM for HTC Touch Pro2 Rhodium 400?

I am convinced that an almost working Anderoid will make me more happy than a fully functioning Windows Mobile 6.5
So I have read a lot of the forums and installed two different Anderoid ROM's successfully on my HTC Touch Pro 2 model Rhod400. One was FRXO6 Froyo and the other was GBX0A Gingerbread. The Froyo build crashed on me a lot so I tried the Gingerbread ROM, which didn't crash but I couldn't get a good strong data or phone connection.
two questions:
1) Who out there in XDA land has a good experience with the HTC Touch Pro 2 and which build did you use and do you have a link to this download? I would really love to get a good stable Anderoid build of any flavor onto my HTC TP2 if I can get some of the basics to work including bluetooth and the camera? Please share. Thanks.
2) Where is a link to where all the different Anderoid ROM builds kept for downloading and testing?
Thanks much !
Windows Mobile 6.5 is pretty good after all
Since I haven't been able to find a stable Anderoid ROM with bluetooth for my HTC TP2, I've been tweaking Windows Mobile 6.5, which is what apparently is loaded standard on the HTC Touch Pro 2, and I'm getting used to it.
I was able to get GPS locations into my photos, bluetooth works good, Wi-fi works good, I found a program called Fileaschanger that I can order my contacts by firstname lastname. I installed the latest Opera 10 mobile browser So life it getting better in my Windows Mobile 6.5 world.
2 questions:
A) Does anyone know if I can upgrade from Windows Mobile 6.5 to windows mobile 7 or do I have to buy a new phone to get the upgrade? I have Sprint.
B) I would still love to find a great Anderoid ROM for my HTC Touch Pro2 if anyone has a good experience please let me know.
Windows Mobile 6.5 frustrations
I've decided I HAVE to switch to Anderoid. Anyone that has HTC Touch Pro2 or Tilt 2 experience with Anderoid ROM's please point me in the right direction. Throw me a bone or a little foothold. Thanks!
After spending another 10 days with windows mobile 6.5, I am going slowly nuts. Most of the time I am frustrated with how long it takes me to find the right contact, and then press the right button. It is so touchy, it often clicks into the wrong screen, then locks up and I can't get out of that until it times out.
Windows Mobile 6.5 could care less about me, it makes me do things for it, instead of the other way around. Isn't a smartphone supposed to be smart and make my life easier? I spend way too much time clicking and searching and hunting for stuff. I have heard that Windows Mobile 7 is amazing, but I don't think I can get that for my phone, so it has to be Anderoid.
Trying out FRX07 on my Rhodium
I see that FRX07 was just released, so I will try that out and let you know how it works on my HTC TP2. Blue Tooth is supposed to work in FRX07 so that would be cool.
FRX07 works very well on HTC TP2
So far, real good, I recommend FRX07 build on the HTC Touch Pro 2. I am having a ton of fun setting it up. Get the FRX07 build here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171052 I have had very few issues, and many more successes !!
1) A minor annoyance: Backlight didn't work on the keypad when I slide it out. From the Android Market (which works nice) I installed a Backlight app and that seemed to do the trick and backlight works now.
2) WiFi works fine on WPA2 and I think it worked connecting to a WEP router also
3) It is a tad bit sluggish, I'm working on an Overclocking app now.
4) I have downloaded and installed about 5 apps so far, and they all seem to work OK.
5) Bluetooth. I haven't tried it yet.
6) Voice Search works. It does do 1 annoying thing that if I use it once it won't work again, and i force it to close with an app killer and then it works.
7) I haven't pocket dialed anyone since I put in Android. That is a big plus over Windows Mobile 6.5
8) Contacts all downloaded automatically from my GMAIL account when I setup gmail. The built in contact app works very well, searching for a contact works great compared to Windows Mobile.
9) Installed a barcode reader and it works great
10) Camera works.
11) Facebook app works and after installing it I can now share and upload photos to Facebook.
After using 2.2.2 Froyo for about a week I have a few issues. The #1 issue is that it has a lag time that seems to be growing, and Android is rather sluggish now. Frustratingly so. Maybe I need to reformat my SD card and reinstall.
Also Android crashed a few times today, that is the first time it has crashed. One time it crashed while I was talking on the phone. Not sure what brought that on.
Also, lots of applications, like maybe a dozen, auto start and seem to slow down the O.S. I downloaded a task killer app, but not sure if that one is working exactly the way it should. I can't seem to find any pages that you can alter if the application starts or not on boot. I would like to have them not start.
so maybe I do need to reformat and reinstall.
FRX07 lag time issues sort of resolved on HTC TP2
Sharing more of my Android experience. Android Froyo 2.2.2 FRXO7 on an HTC TP2 off of a 2GB sandisk memory card. This Touch Pro 2 normally runs Windows 6.5 mobile. I start HARET.exe and it boots up Linux / Android FRX07.
I was going nuts on the task killer, killing my apps all the time, then even went so far as to set the task killer to auto kill. Response time was getting worse and worse. Finally, figured out the task killer was my main CPU hog problem. Instead of helping it was hurting. So I uninstalled the Task Killer and am letting Android figure out what processes it should end. That is helping, and Android is more responsive again. Of course, it can always be faster, so I will try a few more things. I do still have a task killer. I am currently using ES TASK KILLER, but I'm only using it mainly to see what processes are running and NOT setting it to automatic.
Here is an interesting page with the title:
FAQ: Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android
Explains you don't need to worry about memory usage with Android (Linux).
http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-using-a-task-killer-with-android/
Also, in my experience, important to not install more than one new app at a time. Otherwise you won't know which app is hurting response time. Install 1 (one) app, use it for a bit, at least maybe 30 minutes or an hour. You can tell right away if your new app is affecting your lag time or not. if so uninstall and find a new similar app and test it. For example: Opera mobile browser for Android seemed to be affecting my response time a lot (almost non usable), so I removed Opera Mobile and now I'm testing Dolphin browser and it doesn't seem to be slowing me down. I didn't test Opera Mini, I was going to but I saw Dolphin so I tried it instead, and the Dolphin browser is pretty nice so far.
just installed fxr07 yesterday... Had heck of a time getting sd card(s) to reformat to work for install.
really like it, after setup and several reboots, the Speed is very reasonable. Have had a few unplanned reboots into windows, but android loads rather fast now.
I did the install so I could use the androids tether WiFi hotspot to connect my new HP TouchPad to the internet when not at home. The winmo tether is ad-hoc so it would not work with Touch pad.
took 24 hours to get it to work (configuration difficulties with both devices), but got it to work!
if anyone needs help with this, feel free to pm.
Love the Touchpad, esp with overclock and performance tweaks and the fireside prices!
Intalled Gen.y Dualboot on HTC TP2 w detailed installation instructions
Nice!
I still feel that my android install is too slow. For instance, after I press the camera button it takes 5 seconds before the camera app pops up. Is that slow or not? Maybe my expectations are too high. 5 seconds to get into settings or contacts, but only 2 seconds to get into messages, 20 seconds to open a browser and see the google.com screen.
Also, am happy camper again, because I installed Gen.y dualboot on my HTC TP2. Since it wasn't super obvious how to install gen.y dualboot, here is how I installed gen.y on my HTC Touch Pro 2.
1) Boot into Windows Mobile on your HTC TP2
2) Open Internet Explorer in the Windows Mobile
3) Go to this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792
4) Go down the page, find and click the link that says Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.0.6.0 CABs (QVGA|WQVGA|VGA|WVGA)
5) A Megaupload web site page opens, wait 45 seconds for the timer to count down, then click Regular Download. (all this from your windows mobile HTC TP2).
6) A zip file of 4 cabs will download
7) Find the zip file you just downloaded to your Windows Mobile, and extract the cab you need. The HTC TP2 has a WVGA screen, so extract the WVGA cab. I have Total Commander on my Windows Mobile 6.5 HTC TP2, so I was able to find and extract the WVGA cab to a folder using Total Commander.
8) Find and double-click that WVGA CAB you just extracted, and it will install (again I used Total Commander) but probably any file explorer will work. I installed it to my internal memory on the HTC Touch Pro 2
9) Reboot and you will see the dual boot screen. You can customize the dual boot however you like.
10) Optionally, you can delete the zip file and cab file if you want.
Thanks to whoever created the gen.y dualboot, it is pretty awesome.

I have been reading this good how-to thread about Android Speed Improvements
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218458
Topic #4. I tried this. I can't really say if it runs any faster or not, it feels faster AFTER it wakes up from a dark screen, once it wakes up it feels more responsive. It has not frozen up on me yet.
I put the line below into my startup.txt file and rebooted and now I am running at 710.4 Mhz Max on my HTC TP2.
acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=710400
Topic #5. To be fair, I also tweaked the OS with topic #5 in addition to topic #4 (kind of dumb of me to tweak two things at once, since now I don't know which one is helping).
I changed the last 3 variables on this line. So the speed up could be from this line also. I didn't do the line below, Instead I used a file manager, found the file /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree edited this file using a text editor right from the phone, then saved it. I did use the parameters below. BTW: You will lose these settings on a reboot.
echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
After tweaking the two settings above I tried a few benchmarks with my wireless on and sync on, GPS I had off and Bluetooth off.
16 sec = Camera open
03 sec = Chomp (text messaging) open
04 sec = Contacts open all 1000+
06 sec = Messaging (android classic) open
18 sec = Market open
06 sec =Opera Mini open
08 sec = Dolphin Browser open

I am curious how this was done? I have the HTC Rhodium 400 on Sprint. I have installed FRX 7.1 and as stated works great, however when i go into mobile hot spot, i can turn on the password encrypted wifi and connect my touchpad to it however the problem begins when i try to exit the wifi hotspot. The Rhodium will not disconnect and then hangs, freezes and then i have to pull battery and start over.
any suggestions?
i finally got andriod installed on my tp2 but the touch screen isnt working any ideas?

Because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thread closed.
