seriously Laron, the quality would be awful.
You'd be better off with a DVD player (maybe one which does DivX) and use some DVD RWs.
In fact you'd be better off with almost anything else!
trinity cant usb host so it cant stream anything into usb
usb are devided into usb hosts and usb peripherals
the later are "brainless" devices which can only be accessed from an usb host like a pc or a pda which support usb host
maybe via bluetooth or wlan?
for example the bluetooth powerpoint presenter.
this software converts a presentation for your pda and the viewer-software on the pda send it via bluetooth to the presenter - and this via vga to the tv, beamer etc...
i only find such bluetooth prsenters, - only for such presentations...

dont believe any of the bluetooths stack out for any pda support any of those profiles
and remaking a whole bluetooth stack for wm would prob take a pretty long time

No, it's not possible. For any PDA (and our xda, too) the chipset is configured as a slave usb which doesn't allow you to use "normal" usb functions. thats also the reason because activesync exists.
You have a digital camera already in your xda 2, you can transfer files to any pc as long as activesync is installed, just click explore and you can drag and drop. Alernatively you can use a card reader, this will plug into any usb enable pc and allow transferring of files both ways.
I do not think that you can connect it bu usb - probably you need special drivers for it...
99% of htc devices don't support usb host
and can as such only be used by a host
not use other usb devices itself
some things are possible...
With the software WM5torage you can hook up your Hima or any other HTC device to any PC with no Activesync installed and it behaves like any other mass storage device. So if your camera has SD cards you can easily transfer pictures.
If you still use WM2003 on your Hima you can use accessory called Backpack to read CF cards or use a CF to any other card converter.
You can use IR or Bluetooth for wireless control of robots and other devices.
There is also RS232 on the Hima connector.
although it may be possible now but i do not know ,
1. is there any winmobile or pocket pc which can act as usb host or not.
2.will it be possible to interface and read ipod 80 gb through that interface of usb and use S2V player (read only- means i can still manage to upload to ipod via winxp if there is no app like winamp or itunes for winmobile yet).
although there might be a possibility of getting a hard drive on winmobile memory by now but usb host functions to read usb pendrive is most important to me right now ,which is why i ask it as i cannot carry laptop everywhere.

concept here is to 1. be able to view videos on ipod (large storage) ,2. to be able to download songs via gprs or wifi to pocket pc or winmobile and then transfer to ipod as external drive. i know its close to impossible but usb pendrive reading or usb harddrive reading should be there ,someone must know.
I have a samsung 7 series hdtv with 2usb ports. I plugged in via usb changed the source on my tv to the usb selection. I mounted my sd card as you would to your pc. Selected media. From here I could access the root of my sd card. No problem finding pictures and all my media. Picture quality was as good as my pc. I'm sure its better than connecting via 3.5 to rca. I did have the tv out option selected but I don't know if this I'd necessary since your mounting you're sd card

I don't mean to be rude or anything. But to be technical, that's not TV out. Realize that they are putting small computer-type equipment into media equipment these days. Technically the computer in the TV was browsing your phone like your Desktop would, and the computer in the TV was displaying the images on the TV. Its like hooking up your computer to a TV and going that route.
Otherwise that's an interesting wish. The TV Out option would have nothing to do with that method.

Not rude at all. But isn't the point of tv out to veiw media on your phone? I understand that I could use my app s through my tv but why would I wan t to do that? The phones display displays it much nicer and id be limited to a 3 ft wire connected to my device. Just curious?
Also has any one used dlna to communicate with there tv? What about plugging it into a ps3? I was trying to use my ps3 to play music from my cap since my ps3 is hooked up to my receiver. I could get my ipod to. Just some thoughts

I have used the DLNA feature to stream to my ps3. As long as they are the same network, your ps3 should discover the captivate when you select search for media server option in the xmb menu. It works pretty good but then again i was only streaming music.

that dosn't count as tv-out.
tv-out is the phone doing the processing and your tv receiving the signal.
In your case, the tv is reading the music/movies off your memory card and doing the processing.
you don't need tv out enabled.
I have a 7 series Samsung tv as well. I can't believe I didn't think of this before. Obviously this is better than the composite out that I have been using. I can also keep the screen off on the phone unlike when using composite out. Thanks!
TV Out is an option that is tied to the 3.5mm jack. If you ahve the right wire - you can send your phone's display out this port to a TV (Component video and Sound) - so you can display the web browser or recorded video or any part of the phone's desktop.
I assume samsung added this for people that have older TVs that can't mount USB and don't support DLNA. You only need to enable TV-OUT if you are using the 3.5mm cable.
For anybody that isn't familiar with it, the UG008 is an RK3066 device very similar to the UG007 but in a larger case and with the addition of an external wifi antenna, ethernet port, and an analog A/V port. I went with it primarily because the analog A/V port allows you to connect a set of speakers when using it with an HDMI to DVI adapter (for viewing on a computer monitor) without the need for a separate USB sound card. Anyhow, to get to the point of this post...
Is there any way to add custom resolutions? It has the option for 1080p and 720p but the monitor I'm using has a native resolution of 1680x1050 (16x10). and stretches any non-native resolution to fill the screen. It's not bad in video, but text isn't as crisp as it should be.
Also, I was wondering if there is any way to connect another Android device with a usb cable to transfer files? I tried connecting my Note 2 which automatically launched the gallery app on the UG008 and gave me the option to transfer pictures but no way that I could find to transfer anything else. I assume if I could put the phone into mass storage mode it would work fine but unfortunately they seem to have done away with it in favor of MTP and PTP.

Other than a custom rom I wouldn't know of any other way to handle the resolution issue. No idea on the other device either. My question is on the recovery. Did u get one installed on it?
What's up all.
So here's my thought... Is there a device out there to plug into a TV's HDMI port that will let me send video files wirelessly to it from my phone/computer so that I can watch the videos on the big screen instead of my phone/computer screen?
A few ideas:
- Is there a HDMI-to-bluetooth adapter/dongle that I could plug into the TV and send the videos bluetooth-ly to?
- Is there a HDMI-"SmartTV-creating" adapter (I've seen things like "Android mini pc"s on the 'net) that I could use to transform my TV into a SmartTV or an android "tablet/computer-like-device" and then send the video files from one device to the other? i.e. - devices like this one... http://www.amazon.com/UG007B-Quad-C...d=1389321213&sr=8-13&keywords=android+mini+pc with a wireless keyboard as well of course, and using either bluetooth or a wifi signal to send from my phone/computer to either stream, or transfer the file then watch.
- From what I know the Chromecast device at this time cannot do this, and only works for specific apps like HBO GO, Netflix, Hulu, etc., not for sending straight video files stored on a phone/tablet, but are there other such devices out there that do what I am looking to do?

Apart from all the other proprietary sets on the market, the wi-fi (802.11/...) USB dongle appear to be an easy way to connect your mobile/laptop/TV to the TV set. The disadvantage is the short range of about 10 feet, unless you use a wi-fi access point to extend the distance range.
On the TV side, attach a HDMI dongle
On a PC, attach wi-fi USB dongle. I think you will need a streaming software.
On a tablet, attach a OTG (On-The-Go) mini-USB-to-USB adapter and then the wi-fi USB dongle. Again, I would think you need a streaming software.
On a mobile phone, it will be more of a challenge. You could do wired-wireless combo:
Phone-to-computer using screen capture application (wi-fi, USB or Bluetooth), then Computer-to-TV via the wi-fi USB option above.

After thinking, I think the way I'll go about this is using Google Drive and an Android mini pc TV adapter. I can drop the video files (or whatever) into the drive on my computer or phone, then sync my TV Android to get the files to play.
