Since treo has a square LCD, shorter then other WM5,6 devices, is there a way to shrink the height of the soft key bar to gain more real estate on the today screen? I don't see why I would need that bar 3 lines high, all it shows is one line of text, why not make it that high? Has anyone done this before, possibly a registry value somewhere?
Thank you.

Hello!
I am wondering if it is possible to remove the scrollbar that shows up on the today screen? I have seen somewhere on the threads that you can remove the scrollbar from a today plugin. But is there any way using the registry?

The only way to do that is to not put more on it than it can show all at once. You can however make the scrollbars thinner by editing the registry.
HKLM\System\GWE-cxVScr for verticle scrollbars and changing the value to a number less than 13
HKLM\System\GWE-cxHScr for horizontal scrollbars
ehhh...
......
Well I do not have more than the screen but it still shows the scrollbar and moves just a little bit up and down. And because of that, it is covering one of my tabs from SPB Pocket Plus.

if u have good eyes, you can reduce the text size, go to start > settings > system > screen and the text tab....
You could take off an unnecessary plugins from Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items
But i'm guessing you need all the stuff on the today screen...
I have the same problem occasionally with cLaunch. If you have even one pixel more than what can be shown on the screen it'll put up that damn scrollbar. I also ran in to that problem before when I didn't have too much on the screen but for some reason it would be there anyway until I rotated the screen by opening the keyboard and then when I closed it again it would magically dissappear. I never did figure out why that was happening, but it hasn't happened since I started flashing new ROMS.
Just came up with 3 possibilities to fix your problem.
1. Check and see if pocket plus has a heighth adjustment. If it does, adjust it to be a few pixels shorter and see if the scrollbar dissappears.
2. If you don't use the icons in the system tray for anything, use explorer or explore in activesync and go to windows\startup and remove the Init_Tray.lnk and then soft reset. The system tray will be gone and you'll have that much extra room on your today screen and the scrollbar should dissappear after that.
3. Install this cab that I'm uploading. It's called vjtoggletoday-removing bottom bar. It removes the bottom bar that has the calendar and contacts links on them. You will still be able to use the soft keys just above the call and end keys to bring them up when ever you want, but you'll gain the extra space on your today screen where the bottom bar used to be.
another option would be to use the nice today plugin SPB Mobile Shell. It makes it possible to safe a lot of space on your today screen. It works very well with any other today plugin (eg Pocket Plus, Phone Alarm, SPB Wheather, etc). Still one of my favorite pocket pc programs!
I am using all of the SPB today plugins. I fixed the problem by having two lines instead of three in BatteryStatus. Appreciate everyones help.

yeah but i still rather have someone do a hack that will remove the scrollbar on the today screen. somtimes we want to have stuff there on the right height just without the scrollbars ...
can someone come up with a hack for this ? removing the scrollbar for today screen.
I do not really know what the panel where the soft keys are located at bottom of home screen. I use device to view appts and in EnergyROM, I would like to make this bottom most portion transparent, except for the soft keys of course! I could see the last two appointments without flicking the screen. I am willing to search but what is that called? I already have bottom curtain transparent. Thx!
I have been playing around with TF3D and it only displays the main screen (the one with the clock) faded and the text "Title". There are no icons on the bottom of the screen.
I was hoping to fix this without a hard reset if someone could suggest something.
Thanks!
Ive been pulling my hair out over this for about 6 hours.
I cannot get my CHT softkey bar to line up properly with the screen. I attached a couple of screens shots to show my problem EVERYTIME. The only time it went all the way down is when i stretched my image the whole 512x128.
What im trying to do is get the bottom edge of the graphic to line up perfectly with the bottom of the screen.
If anyone could show or explain to me how to accomplish this it would be greatly appreiciated.

Ok I have made quite a few Softbars now, so I might be able to help you
I uploaded i little pic with a previous work of mine.
There are 2 lines in it. The upper line (completely red) shows you what is the limit of what is displayed on the screen. Everything above this line will be displayed.
The space between the 2 lines is more or less not necessary
and everything you see below the lower line will be stretched to be the menu panel when the cht softbar slides up
It is however the case, that the part between two lines will fill the lower like 5 pixels of the screen so you want to adapt that to the rest of your softbar, so that it fits
But normally if the upper design reaches down to the upper line there shouldnt be any problem

it still happens... it like just cuts it off too short..

Yes I thought that this might happen. That means, that you have to shrink the upper part a little and move it upwards.

Yes, as said above and in some instances, I have found it easiest, just to adjust the softkey height just slightly in CHTeditor.
Sometimes that seems to be another simple enough workaround.
I'm trying to customize the size of the display screen (how much the system occupies on the device screen). I managed to do what I want, reducing the display screen height by half. Have a look at the first attachment.
I have added 1 line (the highlighted one) in WindowManagerService.java. It is shown on the second attachment.
My problem now is that I don't know how to adjust the position of the resized(minimized) screen, something like making it displayed on the second half of the device screen. Maybe there is a better way to resize the screen that allows me to position the screen arbitrarily. Someone please help me. Thanks.
