First, I have just updated my T-Mobile SDA fromWM5 to WM6 using Karhoe’s fantastic guide. I am puzzled with one item at this time. I can turn Wi-Fi on and off in the START/ Settings/Connections/Wi-Fi Settings area, (and it works fine) but this is quite inconvenient.
My Comm Manager has eight entries, none of which include Wi-Fi. How do I add the “Wi-Fi” button (#4 in the picture below) to my phone? My setting opitions in the Comm Manager list only 1. Phone, 2.Bluetooth & 3. Profiles (no Wi-Fi)
Again the team effort to make WM6 available has been superb !!!
how is that possible? which ROM did you use? i don't think any WM6 ROM here lacks wifi option in comm manager.
Which Rom used?

Status Update - Problem solved
I was guided to perform a hard reset on my SDA to correct another problem I was having (6 second delay before received calls could be heard). After this hard reset I checked the Comm Manager and discovered I now have ten (10) entries (IP Phone and WLAN) were added). I then decided I would NOT load the COMM MANAGER Update in the EXTRA's folder (comm_manager_updated.cab) dated 7/24/07 in case this update caused my
previously noted problem. P.S. Under my COMM MANAGER settings key, I now have five options, including WLAN Settings and IP Phone settings.

ALLEGEDLY, the ROM update for the i-mate SP5 went LIVE today, and looking at the feature list, it contained a fair old whack more than just Push Email:

Improved Pocket Internet Explorer:

Keypad Light Timing:
The timeout of the keypad light can now be set. There is a utility in the 'Utilities' section of the SP5 support pages that will let you set it. Note that setting the keypad light over 8 seconds will cause significant reduction in battery life.

Voice Dial reliability from handset has been improved.
Communication Manager:
Communication Manager has been updated to allow current data services to be stopped, Direct Push email to be started/stopped using a single button press, and flight mode to be switched on/off.

ALAS, it seems it was instantly PULLED again, from the i-mate site, as per this thread on Modaco:
http://www.modaco.com/I_mate_SP5_ROM_Officially_Released_today_-t238322.html
Did anyone manage to grab it before it was removed?
it's there, and i am downloading it now
I downloaded it when it became live.
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/i-mate_SP5m_WWE_2.6.331.2.zip
I'm downloading again to check if they're diferent.
BTW: This one was there too: ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/i-mate_SP5m_WWE_2.5.331.2.zip
- Does anyone knows the diference between 2.5 and 2.6 ?
Note that for SP5 there is only the 2.5 version:
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/i-mate_SP5_WWE_2.5.331.2.zip
I don't know what the difference is, but I installed 2.5.331.2 and when I go to system information, under Service Pack, it says "N/A". Does that mean its not AKU2?

There is no difference. I downloaded 2.6, loaded it up, worked fine, except for WiFi, (which turned out to be my error), so downloaded 2.5. And they are the same per the ROM info screen on System Info. Both installed fine. Not sure about AKU2 as I didn't have a way to check that.
I cooked my own WM6 using Hypercore and TNT Vanilla as a base. I added a 7-button HTC CommManager from the original WM5. It all works fine and connects to WiFi with WEP, no problems. However, after I shut the phone off and back on, sometimes it'll re-connect automatically, but sometimes it won't. The "Multiple Wireless Networks Detected" window pops up whenever it doesn't auto re-connect. WM5 always re-connected so I know it's not the router. Is there some registry hack or tweak I need to do to make it always re-connect?
While I'm at it, I might as well ask a few burning questions:
- How do I link the Wireless Manager link on the Connectivity popup and Home Screen to CommManager?
- How do I get the CommManager icon at the bottom lower right of the screen to display connection status like WM5 did? Right now it looks the same all the time.
- How to change the OS version number?
- How to change the default time zone from a hard reset?
- How to change the text in the Settings/About/Version?
- How to change the default Device name in Settings/About/Device ID?
I plan to do some research on those questions tomorrow, but I figure I might as well ask while I'm making a post.
Hi,
I run Blackberry Connect on my Touch Pro to connect to my company BES but I prefer to suspend the service in the evenings and at weekends so I don't receive work emails in my personal time and also save a little battery life.
In the Symbian version of BBConnect there was an option to schedule when the service starts and stops each day which suited my needs well. However, I can't find this option in the WM6 version (having tried 4.0.0.100 and 4.0.0.103).
So at the moment it takes 6 clicks to manually suspend\resume the service:
Start > Settings > System > Blackberry > Status > Suspend\Resume
Can anyone help me come up with a way to either:
1) Schedule the service to suspend\resume as I would like e.g. on 0800-1800 Mon-Fri
2) Find out what changes in the registry when the BBConnect service is suspended\resumed and find a way to change this value with a single click
or
3) Create a shortcut straight to the Blackberry settings applet to a least reduce the number of clicks to get there manually
Many thanks!
HappyHammer
There is an executable called bbsettings.exe located in \Program Files\BlackBerry. You can link to this and go to the status tab to suspend the blackberry service. I don't know if you could drive this with a script or not.

That's great! Thanks. I'm now down from 6 clicks to 4.
However, if anyone else has any ideas on how to simplify this further, I'd love to hear from you.
finaly i found a clue:
to disable bes, just kill bbmain.exe process.
to enable bes, run the bbmain.exe
to integrate this into comm manager you need vjbrisk and taskmgr (because comm manager cannot run shortcuts like :\Program Files\TaskMgr.exe" /kill bbmain.exe to kill bbmail.exe)
i have assigned 2 commands to beam and data connection settings from the topaz commmanager (the one that has on/off buttons and actions for each row) so when i press the beam action it runs bbmain and when i press data connection it runs vjbrisk witch runs vjbrisklnk.lnk witch runs taskmgr.exe /kill bbmain.exe
i will attach a cab that will create 2 shortcuts in programs folder bb_on and bb_off
and will change the action of beam and data connection in comm manager(will probably work only on the topaz comm manager).
Hi all,
I'm new to the OPen Touch ROMs and just flashed my wing over to the 7.4 2d Lite version (which was recommended by more than a few). I got it all up and running but I have synced to my Exchange Server for work but I can't find a Direct Push option in Comm Manager. I really need to sync via direct push and so far from what I can see I like this ROM.
Also the Data Connection in Connection Manager seems to be always off (at times) and doesn't have the option to be turned on. I thought I had read about this somewhere in one of the many posts that I've went through but couldn't find it on my search.
Thanks for any help.
Lance
You dont need direct push on comm manager . Open activeSync>Schedule and set peak times to as items arrive and off peak time to as items arrive. This turns direct push on. If you really want it on comm manager you can change reg settings.
Thanks for the info. Do you know what registry settings I would need to change to get this in the comm manager?
I like having the ability to turn it on and off easily and I think having it in CommManager would be a little nicer than having to open AS and change the settings each time.
Thanks,
Lance
Hi all,
I've programmed a nifty tool voor auto disabling gprs after a period of time. I couldn't find an app which auto disconnects gprs/umts for WM 6.5 so I made my own. It's still version 0.1 but works wel. .NET CF 3.5 is needed. If something doesn't work please mention it so I can change/repair it. It was tested and developed on a HTC Touch2.
Have fun
Winmohtc6
Nice tool..... Not to create double threads but you can put it aswell in the general section Windows applications..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=528
I own a Touch 2 and i've installed this app on my sd card (.Net 3.5 it was installed). I've checked the second option (search gprs on start data connection) and set the timer to 60 seconds. After reboot, i started data connection from comm manager, updated weather on homepage but even after 3 minutes, the gprs connection did not stop.
No other apps autoconnect this time.
What did i do wrong ? Or can you explain how did you tested it ? (I'm sure it works on your device )
Hmmm strange. I've tested it with autoconnecting gprs and not with manual connection via comm manager but that may not be a problem (in my opinion). I'm working on version 0.2 at the moment. It includes the option that the time stamp you save will be shown in the combolist after restart and it includes soft reset of the smartphone for applying settings. I'm working on it
Tested few minutes ago with gprs autoconnection.
Steps: reconfigure app, soft-restart phone, manual e-mail check for starting gprs. Connection is still alive and i didn't touch the phone 3 min till the screen turned off.
If it helps: ROM: 1.28.479.4 (66092), phone was bought unlocked (gsm operator free). If you need another specific hardware info, please tell me.
I'll wait for 0.2 version.
I appreciate your work.
Ops
Please share with us the registry keys that you change )
If wanted I can share the source code (vs vb.net 2008) . Send me a private message with emailadres and I will email it to you. I'm thinking of switching to OpenNetCF because it has more (and in my opinion better) references for programming on mobile devices.
