Opening Qtek 8310 - HTC Tornado

Hi everyone,
I'm having big problems with the joystick on my Qtek 8310. And I want to open it and clean it, to see if the joystick will start working again. The warranty has already run out, so that is not a problem.
So how do I open up the case without breaking anything?

Noone has opened up a Tornado?

hello
open battery cover
slide an stick under te antenna cover and pop it up
unscrew the 2 screws that hold the antena and the other 2 located near the batery
place an thin blade under the case and pop it gently about 4 mm
space it all over the phone
now is the triky part
the keyboard connector is very short so you wil need to pull it carefuly out before you open the phone or you will break the cable
i changed my secondary batery, keyboard & joystik, and the whole case
i am very happy with this phone after i tried every other HTC phone
now it works againd and is like new
8310 is the best smartphone

Broken stylus

My stylus just broke (between the plastic and metal part) of my M700.
I've read in a Dutch forum that serveral users of the MY700 had the same problem.
I'm wondering if this only applies for the M700 or other branded versions as well?
same here... i have an italian p3600. I repaired it with tape, it looks ugly, but until i get some spares for ebay or whatever, i'm not going to crack the second stylus as well

Same here as well. Mine is an original HTC p3600. Never had any problem with my previous Magican's stylus.
I have had the same issue.
Does anyone know if the 818Pro Stylus is the same (they look identical in pics)
Is the 818 a prophet (M600), if so they are different.
I always buy the after market stylus that have the built in pen. 3 for about £10. I find it's alway good to have a pen handy just in case, and you have 2 spares.
Anyway if you want my old stylus (white) just pm me an address and I'll post it to you...
same here .. i have htc p3600 .. the 2 original styli broke.. i bought spare 3 pack 2 of them broke already.. i think htc must replace the styli for free and redeisgn their styli.. very frustrated. i-mate never had this problem.
I broke mine (one so far) too. Fortunately, it's easy to find it all over internet.
Styli
I've already gone through 2 in as many weeks. Hoping that superglue holds so I don'r have to keep buying them. Maybe I'll just switch to an all-in-one pen...
i broke mine and the metal part remained in the phone.
please help!!! how do i get it out?
take the back off the phone and alongside the stylus "shaft" you'll see there are 3 holes down the shaft. If you get a paperclip and unfold it, or a needle or something, you can "scrape" it out of the hole and it will come out.
I had to do this the other week as my stylus -also- broke
If the stylus has broke inside the P3600 the easiest wxay to remove it is :
Take the back off the phone, remove the battery. you will see a little white plastic thing on your left, remove that things, you'll access the stylus metal part that has the notch. With a flat small scrwdriver you should be able to remove it from there.
HTC stylus is very very very fragile.. i broke both my original stylus already.. a simple drop break it, but i managed to re-attached it using a super glue, drop it again.. broke just a bit higher than before and can no longer be re-attach.. looking at the condition of the broken stylus the material looks like plastic-glass kinda material which is very damn cheap and fragile.. it looks tough on the outside but when you broke it, the you can see how crappy the material is. My advice get a whole metal stylus custom made for your HTC (gonna cost you a bit) but a peace of mind is more valuable compare to when you have to use anything available around you to navigate your pda.. it's HTC money making strategy..
One Piece Stylus
Hello all,
I received my replacement stylii on ebay, and I found out that they are made out of one piece of plastic. So there would not be a "weak point" of mounting two different materials together.
It is also more flexible than the original stylus, so I think this one will never break again!
The only downside so far:
The are completely black, no shiny metal.
And you need fewer force to pull them out. They sit proper in their container, and you can feel them lock into place. However fewer force is needed to pull it out. That can be good, or bad.
Heres the link:

yes mine too....D810.....but I used super glue to stick it back....still fine until today.....dont use tape....it looks ugly & dirty.
For further use.....use it carefully.....
Hey me too!
Hey.. i had two stylus and boke both of them. Today i broke my second one... i just registered to this site not too long ago, and when i was looking for things to do with a broken stylus.. i found your thread.
Anyway, i was just wondering what to do you do with all the broken styluses? What i did for my first broken stylus is this. I didn't want a second one... so i'm still holding back from doing the same thing with it. Anyway, there are some bad side to making a stylus from the broken one. You cannot fit it into your device. Anyway.... don't be sad!
5th
I broke my fourth stylus this morning and I'm on my 5th. I try to use a 4-in-1 pen/stylus/laser/light gadget when I can, but it's not too handy to carry around in my pocket (drains the laser battery). The pen styli I've found don't fit in the well correctly, and the cap tends to come off leaving the rest of the stylus in the PDA.
I'll have to stock up again when I go back to bangkok.
Dopod needs to find a better design.

I converted the stylus into a Pen!!! take a look at the attachments
Works like a charm, it was never easier to use calligrapher as default SIP!!!

S710 SD slot rubber cover

After 3 weeks SD slot rubber cover looks like this. Any idea why ? And what to do ?
just remove it if you take the battery out you can just pull the cover out i did mine the first day it does not halm the phone at all
All 4 pieces of Vox in Hungary I saw had the same f***ing SD cover rubber. I also took it out... the hole is better than that loose rubber piece. I think 3rd party supplier made this peanut part ... I do not understand how HTC could accept this and release the phones like this worldwide.
mine has started to look like that too. I got annoyed and took the usb cover off but i want to leave this one on. I hope it doesnt get any worse.
mine also looks like that...I have already removed the USB cover because the rubber was expanded in such a way that it was always popping off the hole...now it's the microSD cover that is way expanded, just like yours...it's really an annoying issue :S
So let's cooperate and write reclamation to HCT ? Any one has good english to write one ? I think it should be plastic cover, like on Nokia 6233 for micro SD or something similar. But not that rubber. USB cover i removed in first week, it was popping out. But without SD cover phone looks not realy pretty.
fix
a dot of supaglue does the trick. you can still get it off without damage if you need to
Yeah, i have the same problem also. The problem is the rubber expands, I first tried trimming the USB cover which helped a little but I eventually removed it. I don't want to remove the storage card cover as it would leave it too exposed.
This is quite sad really as it makes a very cool phone look cheap...
SHAME ON YOU HTC!!! SHAME ON YOU!
I noticed this also while working on a friends vox. I wonder if you got a few hundred people together and signed a petition maybe HTC could send everyone a new plastic cover.ROFL. But being a pessimist I think its gonna take something short of holding Peter Chou as a hostage before this happens. If it were my phone the last thing I would want to do is pull it off, im glad the herald memory card cover is quite solid. But who knows if someone can sue google for something stupid as this:
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/stupid/man-from-pennsylvania-sues-google-for-5-billion-302813.php
Maybe someone can sue HTC for emotional damages that were caused by being laughed at by friends and family after showing them a phone that costs 1-2 weeks salary that doesn't even look good as a brick . I think I got the perfect lawyer for whoever steps up.
None other than Jackie Chiles himself...hopefully you'll have better luck than Cosmo Kramer
I have the same problem
The rubber from the USB I have removed.
The SD cover looks ugly.
too bad, I like having the USB cover, it prevents dirt from coming into the phone. I wish HTC would come out with a plastic one too....
They probably wont, because this phone is not sold by any major carriers, at least here in the US.
I've trimmed mine down to fit better with a sharp blade, then used superglue to secure it in place, I can still remove it and re-glue if required, it's a damm site less annoying now !
Same here - wish I had know about this issue before buying the phone
I'm hoping of selling it soon.
Same problem here and it has been a long time I removed the USB rubber cover wich was really very very boring, annoying and awfull !
Now, with the SD rubber cover, I almost have the same problem. Everyday and everytime, I just have to push it a little bit to re-place it correctly. I don't want to removed it cause I'm afraid that it will let an awfull hole on the side of the phone (worse than the USB one). But how long will I keep it like that ?
That said, I don't think that the problem will definitely disappear if HTC send us a new one. We or HTC should find another solution. May be a new stronger rubber cover as we can see on the Nokia Phone ? Who's gonna make this for us ??? Thanks in advance ! ;-)
same here ...
usb removed, not the SD but i will remove it too ...
Removed my rubber USB cover on Thursday as the leather strap that has the magnetic clip on my Krusell case covers the USB port, but goning to leave the SD one on, so as the SD card does not get ejected and lost accidentaly sa it is not as annoying as the USB cover as it is not constantly popping open.

Do not remove the SD cover......i removed both covers on my vox,my phone looks so cheap and ugly now.Try to fiks it with glue or whatever.
me too..... bloody shame as i love the phone !!
i took the USB cover off on day 1 as i use a desk cradle and it was simply in the way but i do not want to remove the SD slot cover. It does now appear that the cover is too big for the hole and i find myself trying to push it in ALL the time !!!! i will NOT glue it but it does spoil what otherwise appears to be a very well designed and built phone !
Just take it off, I don't have my miniUSB nor my microSD rubber covers and everything is fine, doesn't make the phone look "cheap and ugly" at all.

problem with s710

the up and down arows are not working anymore on the today screen. if i open the slide they are working. can somebody tell me wat is wrong please
It's possible the flex cable has come unplugged, there are 2 rubber spacers that are slightly glued together that keep it in place.
Couple of screws to remove the housing and you can make sure it's not popping off when it's closed. Could also be a software issue.

Stylus Broken Off Inside Polaris

Hi,
I wonder if someone can offer any suggestions... The end of my stylus has broken off and left the metal part right inside the phone. I've tried with jewellers screwdrivers and tweezers to get it out, to no avail.
Any suggestions?
Have a look at the Polaris Wiki and get the service manual to disassemble the case.
Happened to me yesterday .Get a needle, press point of needle againt stylus.then push it out.took me 2seconds.
If the needle trick doesn;t work I somehow used a needle to prize the chamber open via the side and then freed the stylus by sliding it down. It hasn't damaged my polaris in any way. Sorry can;t be more specific but it wasa while ago!
Another way would be to take a bit of wire or a cocktail stick, apply a small drop of super glue to the end and press it onto the broken end of the stylus (being careful not to touch the sides of the polaris)
Then wait a few seconds for it to dry and pull it out!
Dear Nordberg !
try to put some glow on the top of the rest of ur stylus and put it back in ur PPC, let it a few minutes then try to pull it slowly and u will have a one piece stylus ......

Spv c600 disassembly

does anybody know how to disassemble a spv c600 since i want to replace a cover
Look up the web for similar device disassembly (Qtek 8200 has a simliar housing). Basically they are all made the same. Rough sequence is:
remove battery cover
loosen all visible screws (2 at the bottom + 2 under the battery, 1 of them is under the warranty sticker) - you need Torx T6
Flip up the antenna/Cover. This depends on the device-type how it is locked, but you must for any device start lifting at the bottom/back side - you will not succeed on the topside. For some (SDA-USA) you have to lift the sides from the device- for others (O2 XDA Phone, Qtek 8200) there are little holes in the frame part towards the battery. You must lift the locks at the right place. If you take a very small flat screwdriver, just insert carfeully (about 1 cm) and lift up - using the screw driver as a lever. Once both sides are up, you can lift it completely and remove it.
2 more screws are on top of the device - remove them.
insert a credit card or something alike between frame and top cover, usually at the side buttons it is the easiest. Don't insert that too deep (1-2mm) and slide it along the side until all locks are open. Be careful at the bottom right side (looking on the face) as there goes the keyboard cable - don't hurt that!
Once cover is loose, start flipping away from the topside until a gap of about 8 mm (keep the bottom where it is). Peek inside from the top:
You see a flat connector from the camera to the PBA. Flip it up with a screwdriver.
Separate Frontside (it has the LCD and PBA connected) and frame (with camera) carefully. Take care at bottom of the device as the connectors on the PBA are inserted in the frame.
Done
Rest is easy as there is nothing hidden. For Keyboard removal you need a small PH00 cross screwdriver.
can i get guide with pictures.ive searched on google for hours but i havent found any .i really dont want anything to go wrong
