I'm looking for a program that capable of sending the current display on the phone screen (wm6, htc wizard) to another display device, such as a 7 inch touch screen with usb input, and control the phone via that interface. I'm fairly sure this should be possible and I was wondering if there is a program already out there to do it.
guess it could be don
but only on devices which had
full usb host support
which is limited to flame and Athena
and a driver would have to be made
and some interp logic on the lcd
another option for those devices without host
would be to have the pc handle it
another option is that some devices out there i believe
have external display options not using usb but other tvout
options though those would of cause not support touchscreen
how could it be done with a pc handling it?

Hi guys,
Is there any way to connect a Hero or Vega (or any android device for that matter) to an external touch screen monitor and control the phone/tablet via the large monitor?
I understand it is pretty easy to watch movies etc on a bigger monitor but I am wanting to actually use the touch screen input of the monitor to control the device.
My aim is to use this as an entertainment system on a 22" (anything over 15") touch screen in a VW campervan conversion project smile.gif
Any help hugely appreciated.
Cheers,
Wag
look on ebay for touch screen addons for laptop or computer monitors most just emulate a usb mouse so if the android tablet or whatever your using supports usb mouse support like some of the viewsonic gtablet roms do i woul think it would work pretty good if you could find one for the size screen you want.
something like this but for the size screen you want http://goo.gl/4GdgT
You need to hack it
I had a similar idea and one of the Touch screen panels as mentioned by gator2k83. It did not work that way as he proposed.
The touch screen works with absolute positions. A mouse is relative position.
You need to hack it the bad way.
See my blog post about it:

If anyone has other experiences, let me know.
HP 23TM touch screen monitor and android tablets
Would the new HP 23TM touch screen monitor work with a 7 inch tablet as an external touch screen monitor? The table has a hdmi out and a micro usb out which could be hooked up with OTG cable?
Thanks.
It would be great to be able to do that

Its been 4 years since the original post, so I'm curious if its any easier now. I would like to control my Samsung Galaxy S3 (MHL compatible) via a MHL 3.0 cable and this touchscreen. Any ideas/advice?
I've become curious whether any mobile devices with USB ports could be used, with appropriate software, as auxiliary USB keypads or keyboards to another host device? Given the ubiquity of small LCD touchscreen tablet devices now, it seems like an obvious application to develop software that would display programmable keys on a touchscreen and then output appropriate key scancodes or sequences via a USB port to another connected system, in essence making the tablet appear as a USB HID to the host. The software aspect would be somewhat trivial; I've seen software for Windows Mobile touchscreen devices with IR transceivers that allows them to be used as universal remote controls. This would in effect be a USB variant of that type of software.
Is that technically feasible, or is there a limitation to the USB spec or hardware that might prevent it? Is there a host-client aspect to USB that exists outside of software alone?
It seems I need to post this in another area to reach the right audience for my question, but which one?
There's plenty of apps that enable this via wifi or bluetooth, but I haven't seen any that would do it over USB. I don't see why it shouldn't be possible, but it seems no one has coded it yet.
The reason it came to mind is that there are companies selling some surprisingly expensive auxiliary programmable USB keypad devices. With the addition of the necessary software, tablets and similar devices with touchscreens might be poised to erase their cozy little overpriced vertical market. That is, if there's no limitations to USB hardware or drivers that would prevent it.

Hey, from what I gather DEX mode gives you a desktop style experience with the note 9 on an external screen. But does anyone know if it's possible to use it on the screen of a tablet running Windows 10? Not run in windows, but just essentially make use of its screen? Although I'm sure I saw a video of a guy plugging the phone into a laptop and using its screen. The tablet is a lovely 12 incher with a great screen and a built in stand, I just think it would be cool to use it's screen while playing games through the phone with a Bluetooth controller. The tablet has a full size usb port and a mini HDMI which I don't know if it would be an input as well or just output.
Any ideas?
No you can use teamviewer as a remote though
nopez. there is no way a normal Tablet or even Laptop lends just the screen to an external source.
Unless a niche product i am unaware, No video input (HDMI or whatever) input to be found. Just Output.
So a software solution is needed to replicate the phone on the Tablet screen. And that will not make the phone desktop to switch to Dex mode.
Samsung Sidesync program is what you need to run in your Windows 10 Tablet. Hopefully a future iteration of Samsung soft will allow for kind of "dex mode" desktop, as it would allow a better use of screen realstate in the Win10 device landscape format screen
Hey there!
As many of you may have heard or even tried, there is a functional "Desktop Mode" built into Android 10 (as long as the phone vendor didn't deactivate this). This mode will, when manually activated in the developers options, act like an Desktop OS when connecting your phone to an external screen. (or without activating anything in case of e.g. Samsung DeX)
I'd like to use this Thread to gather some information about the implementations of "Desktop Mode" into the phones of different vendors, and hope you can support me with testing it out on your phones.
Things of interest are (IMHO, to be continued):
is the desktop mode working (and usable)
does the dpi setup change in the moment of connecting an external screen (or does everything look just awful big)?
(yes, I know there are apps/tools to change that)
which maximum resolution is possible?
how many screens are possible? (usually just one, ...but who knows)
do you just need an USB-C to HDMI/DP cable or a (special) docking station for connecting a screen? (if using a cable, Miracast/wireless is another option of course)
does the handset get a special 'role'/feature in desktop mode? (like Samsung devices becoming a trackpad)
are there any usage improvements implementated, e.g. like file drag'n'drop or dragging windows to the display sides to maximize them on half the screen (like in windows)
what's the connection speed of the USB-C port? (USB 2.0, USB 3.2 G1 (5 Gbps), USB 3.2 G2 (10 Gbps) or even faster!?)
is it possible to use USB mouse/keyboard or just Bluetooth, and how's the speed? (eg. does BT lag a lot?)
At the moment it seems like Samsung has the best implementation of this feature with their "DeX Mode", but i'd like to know about those things from other vendors also.
My dream is to be able to ditch my notebook/tablet/8in tab/subnotebook collection an use just one device in future. (everything else needed for 'bigger' or x86 tasks can be done on cloud instances already)
But for that purpose there needs to be more than just 'basic' OS UI without any useful features
Hope we can start a good collection here and answer also your questions regarding this topic(s).
Thank you, regards

Hi
I have Galaxy Ace 4 (kitkat 4.4) with broken lcd. The screen is blank but touch should work. Earlier something was visible on screen and as I remember touch was working.
Moreover, the system had some failure due to permanent "application xxx stopped working" and factory reset should be made.
I would like to use this phone as wifi hotspot. Is there any way to access the phone after factory reset? I have found application like Visor to control android via usb on pc. But developer mode has to be enabled and I'm not sure if system should be rooted.
Thank you for any help
If you can still see the screen, but the touch screen does not work:
Buy a cheap USB adapter so you can connect a PC keyboard or mouse (probably a USB C to USB A adapter). You can buy these adapters from China on eBay for $ 1 (but you may have to wait a month until they arrive in the mail. In this case, buy from a seller in your own country). I suppose you have a keyboard or just use the keyboard and use the arrows to move and select things, so I think the Windows button will become the home button. Press Enter to select and Escape to return. Or you can simply point and click with the mouse. The problem is that not all phones support "OTG", so you may not be able to read the adapter. If so, then I think you have no other choice. . But most of the stores themselves definitely support 100% OTG, so it should work normally. The problem with Bluetooth is that you need to pair it first, which requires touching the screen. Therefore, if you cannot touch the screen, using a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard may not work
If you can't see the screen, but the touch screen works normally:
Unless you change the screen, don't think that there are many things you can do. Android phones that were previously compatible with MHL allow you to use a dongle to connect it directly to HDMI. But the cell phone no longer has that function. If you have a Samsung phone, I think you can buy a Samsung Dex docking station, which will allow you to connect it to the screen via HDMI. If you can install applications on your phone, you may be able to control your phone from your computer using a screen mirroring application (there are thousands of different software that can do this, but you need to install applications on your phone). Same as Google Chromecast screen mirroring. .You need to access the application on your phone to perform this operation. Therefore, there is nothing you can do except replace the screen. If you are lucky and your smartphone supports some type of HDMI dongle adapter or some type of desktop docking station with HDMI output, you can view the phone's screen and access it.
